空处引导定语从句“we spend time with our family”,先行词是表示事物的“the way”,且在从句中作状语,应用关系词that。
固定搭配continue to do sth.
根据上文“Many users suggested calling the festival by its Chinese name, Chunjie.” as well“也”;without“没有”,均不符合逻辑。

Helen Brooks-A Lock Keeper
When I left school, I worked in a shop in town. The pay was fine, but I spent all day indoors and missed being outside. One weekend I took a boat trip on the canal with a friend. I watched the lock keeper open the heavy wooden gates so our boat could move up to the next level of water. It looked peaceful, and I thought, “I want that job.” A few months later a position came up near my village. I applied, not really expecting to get it.
The first weeks were harder than I had imagined. I had thought I would just open and close gates when boats arrived. In fact, I had to learn how water levels are controlled, how to check safety equipment every morning, and what to do when a boat breaks down. I also needed to know about local wildlife, because injured birds and dirty water have to be reported. After a short course with an experienced keeper, I was allowed to work on my own.
People often think a lock keeper only helps boats through. That is part of it, of course, but it is not the whole story. I cut the grass, paint the gates, pull rubbish out of the canal and answer visitors’ questions about the village. The most useful skill, though, is staying calm when several boats arrive at once, or when a family has never used a lock before. You cannot show them that you are worried; you just give clear instructions and keep everyone safe.
I live in a small house beside the lock, so I am never really off duty. Walkers knock on my door for directions, and boat owners sometimes call late if something goes wrong. It can be tiring, but I would not go back to the shop. When a boat moves smoothly through and the people on board wave and thank me, I know why I stay. Those moments, and the quiet evenings by the water, matter more to me than a higher salary in town.
32. Why did Helen first become interested in working as a lock keeper?
A. She was offered the job by a friend on a boat trip.
B. She wanted to earn more than she did in the shop.
C. She saw the work being done and thought she would enjoy it.
D. She needed to live closer to her village.
33. What does Helen say about her early days in the job?
A. She was surprised how much there was to learn.
B. She already knew how to control the water.
C. She was left alone from the first morning.
D. She found the training course unnecessary.
34. What does “That” refer to in the sentence “That is part of it, of course, but it is not the whole story”?
A. Answering visitors’ questions. B. Helping boats through the lock.
C. Staying calm with new boat owners. D. Checking the safety equipment.
35. What does Helen feel is the most useful skill in her work?
A. Being able to repair boats that have broken down.
B. Knowing a lot about the history of the village.
C. Keeping calm and giving clear help when it is busy.
D. Making the lock look attractive for tourists.
36. Why has Helen written this text?
A. To advertise vacant jobs on the local canal.
B. To show how her understanding of the job has grown.
C. To warn first-time visitors that locks are dangerous.
D. To argue that outdoor work should be better paid.
37. If Helen were offered her old shop job again, with better pay, she would probably ________.
A. take it for the extra money B. take it to have free evenings
C. stay at the lock D. take it only in winter
C 33. A 34. B 35. C 36. B 37. C

C. Choose the best answer to complete the passage(选择最恰当的选项完成短文)(每题2分,共20分)
Do you ever let an AI tool finish your homework in one minute? It feels efficient, and many classmates now do the same after a long day at school.
New studies, however, suggest that this shortcut may be more ____38____ than it first appears. A nationwide survey by the China Youth and Children Research Center found that more than 60 percent of primary and secondary students have used AI. Nearly one in five use it regularly. Among them, about 71 percent said they turn to AI for ideas or for schoolwork. That sounds like a smart shortcut at first.
Speed, though, is not the same as understanding. Researchers wanted to know what happens to students' thinking. Once the screen goes dark, they must work ____39____. An OECD report in 2026 offered an uncomfortable result. Students who practised maths with AI looked strong on practice questions. They even finished those questions faster than the other group. On closed-book tests, they fell 17 percent behind classmates who had practised without it. The practice score, in other words, had ____40____ them.
Why does this gap appear? When an answer arrives in seconds, the hard part of the task disappears. The hard part is exactly what trains the brain. Without that effort, a skill is not lost. It is simply never given a chance to make any real ____41____. Teachers see the same problem in writing class. A student can hand in a clean essay in five minutes. The sentences look fine on the page. The homework mark may be high, ____42____ the writer cannot explain the ideas the next day. A professor writing in China Daily made the same point.
If every difficult step is handed to a machine, students may leave school with fluent sentences. Those sentences can impress a reader at first sight. They still cannot hide a lack of real ____43____. Thinking needs time, and time is what AI takes away. Some teenagers also tell AI about their worries. The tool replies at once and never laughs at them. That can feel safe at midnight. Teachers still say a machine cannot ____44____ a talk with someone who knows the student's real life. Parents and friends ask follow-up questions. A chatbot usually does not.
There is a further problem. AI often writes in polished English, so the whole text can look ____45____, even with a mistake. Students who do not check the facts may accept a wrong idea just because it reads well. The English is clean, but the facts may not be. Chinese education officials now ask schools to guide AI use by age. Middle school students may study AI-generated text, but they should not hand it in as their own. The aim is not to ban the tool. It is to make sure students still ____46____ the difficult parts themselves.
A safer habit, experts say, is to treat AI as a tutor. Let it explain one step. Then shut the page and try the next problem without it. Only that second step shows whether the idea has been ____47____ understood. Used in this way, AI can still help. Used as a ghostwriter, it cannot build the thinking you will need when no screen is allowed.

根据“try the next problem without it”,可知是为了确认是否“真正”理解。
D. Read the passage and complete the tasks(根据短文内容完成任务)(第68至72题,每题2分;第73题6分;共16分)
Does a longer day mean more work?
When the school bell rings at four, some students still sit over their books until late at night. Many adults do the same at the office. They stay after six, answer messages at supper, and call it hard work. A simple question is worth asking: does more time at the desk always mean more real work?
In 2022, 61 companies in the United Kingdom tried a four-day week. About 2,900 people worked fewer hours but kept the same pay. After six months, most companies did not lose money. Some even did a little better. Workers said they slept more and felt less burned out. Ninety-two percent of the firms chose to keep the shorter week.
This surprised people who believe that time and output rise together, like two trains on the same track (轨道). Scientists who study attention say the two trains often run apart. Most of us think most clearly between nine and eleven in the morning. After lunch, around two or three, the brain dips. Sitting through that dip with more emails does not make the morning brain come back. It only makes the evening longer.
Fang Hongbo, chairman of the Chinese company Midea, once said that more than 95 percent of overtime is empty. He does not work after six. The company later stopped meetings after hours. His point was not that work is unimportant. It was that looking busy is not the same as being useful. Extra hours ____________. A tired person can fill eight extra hours and still leave the real problem untouched.
None of these means that difficult tasks need no time. A doctor on a night shift or a student before an exam—they cannot always finish their work at five. The lesson is smaller and stricter. First, decide what must be done. Then, give it the hours when the mind is awake. The rest of the clock is not automatically gold. If Jacob finishes his key maths in the morning and walks at dusk (黄昏), he may learn more than his classmate Kevin who just copies notes until midnight. Work, like sleep, has a shape. Stretching (拉伸) it without care does not make it larger. It only makes it thinner.
Task 1: Answer the questions.
48. Did most of the British companies lose money after they tried a four-day week?
________________________________________________________________________
49. What does “burned out” in paragraph 2 mean?
________________________________________________________________________
50. What do scientists mean by “two trains that often run apart” in paragraph 3?
________________________________________________________________________
51. According to paragraph 4, what can be filled in the blank?
________________________________________________________________________
52. Why may Jacob learn more than Kevin?
________________________________________________________________________
Task 2:
53. Imagine you are Fang Hongbo. An employee always stays after 6 p.m. and looks very busy. What would you say to him? (Write about 30 words)
________________________________________________________________________
No, they didn’t.
49.
It means tired/exhausted.
50.
Time and output do not always rise together.
51.
are not always useful
52.
Because Jacob works when his mind is awake.
53.
I appreciate your hard work, but staying late doesn’t mean being useful. Please go home at 6 p.m. and rest. We value efficiency, not just long hours.
根据文章第2段“After six months, most companies did not lose money.”
根据文章第2段“Workers said they slept more and felt less burned out.”
根据文章第3段“This surprised people who believe that time and output rise together, like two trains on the same track (轨道). Scientists who study attention say the two trains often run apart.”
根据文章第4段“It was that looking busy is not the same as being useful. Extra hours ____________.”及后文“A tired person can fill eight extra hours and still leave the real problem untouched.”
根据文章第5段“Then, give it the hours when the mind is awake. The rest of the clock is not automatically gold. If Jacob finishes his key maths in the morning... he may learn more than his classmate Kevin who just copies notes until midnight.”
I appreciate your hard work, but staying late doesn’t mean being useful. Please go home at 6 p.m. and rest. We value efficiency, not just long hours.

Riverside Town sits between the West River and the East Hills. Every autumn, visitors can follow a Career Trail to meet the people who keep the town alive and to find out why they work.
Ms Lin, who works in the Old Book Studio by the river, repairs books that are hundreds of years old. “Every page I save is a piece of history,” she says. Dr Chen is a heart surgeon at Riverside Hospital in the north. He often stays late because a small mistake can cost a life. Mr Zhou, a dough sculptor at the Heritage Craft Yard in the East Hills, learnt the skill from his grandfather. Few young people want to take it up. Firefighter Wu works near Town Square. He says he works not for money, but to keep families safe. Ms Gao, who designed the high-speed rail that connects the town to the city, is not on today’s trail.
