When 14-year-old Lin Hao from Guangzhou started his volunteer work at Yuexiu Park last year, he only made a resolution to spend two weekends each month helping clean the park. One year later, he has achieved more than he ever expected.

At first, only three of his classmates joined his plan. They spent two hours picking up litter on the first weekend. After a month, more and more junior high students from nearby schools heard about his plan and joined the group. Now, the volunteer group has more than 80 members, and they work every weekend to keep the park clean. They also put up beautiful signs to tell visitors to keep the park clean.
This year, Lin and his group made a new plan: they will plant 100 new young trees in the park next spring, and they will offer free guided tours to tell visitors about the history of the old trees in the park. “This volunteer work has helped me understand that a small personal plan can make real progress,” Lin said. “I will keep doing this in the future, even when I go to high school.”

Each of us has dreams and goals for our future. What makes us study and make progress each day is closely connected with our personal dreams and goals.
Why do you have dreams and goals, but still end up with nothing? What separates successful people from the dreamers is their persistent (锲而不舍的) action. When you learn your lessons in school, you must work hard and not give up. You will often find some of your lessons very hard. Try and keep trying, and you’ll be sure to successfully deal with any difficulty you meet with. If we have a hard lesson today, let us try our best to learn it well and then we shall be prepared for a harder one tomorrow.
This is the famous formula (公式) for success:
Dream > Believe > Achieve
Most people have what they want (Dream) and think they can realize their dreams (Believe). And then they do nothing. They just imagine their dreams can come true. When they get tired of waiting and lose a lot, they get bored. They say angrily how terrible their life is.
I personally believe that if you really want to achieve your dreams and goals in life, you have to add one thing to your success formula:
Dream > Believe > Act > Achieve
For me, act is the most important thing for success, and that is to take persistent action (Act). If you say, “I can’t do it,” and give up, you can never do anything valuable. However, “I’ll try” creates wonders. Let’s remember that there will be obstacles in our success. We must face them bravely and solve them. Life is not something that falls from the sky. Most successful people made their dreams come true because of their persistent action.
Please remember: Action is the bridge that connects our dreams and goals to reality.
36.What should you do when you find your lessons very hard?
A.Ask people for help.
B.Try and keep trying.
C.Get ready to create wonders.
D.Prepare for a harder one.
37.What does the writer add to the famous formula?
A.Act. B.Feel. C.Connect. D.Create.
38.What does the underlined word “obstacles” mean?
A.Dangers. B.Imaginations.
C.Wonders. D.Difficulties.
39.Why does the writer use the formula “Dream > Believe > Act > Achieve”?
A.To support his idea.
B.To ask readers to explain it.
C.To show what his goals are.
D.To compare it with a bridge.
40.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.Doing Something Valuable
B.Studying Hard and Making Progress
C.Realizing Dreams with Persistent Action
D.Separating Successful People from Dreamers

As teenagers, you may have many dreams. These dreams can be very big, such as winning the Nobel Prize, or they can be small. You may just want to become one of the ten best students in your class. 21 Do you ever try to make your dream come true?
Follow Your Heart, written by an Australian writer, tells us that making our dreams come true is life’s biggest challenge (挑战). The book says, “You may think you’re not very good at some school subjects. Or it is impossible for you to become a writer. 22 ”
In fact, everyone can make his dream come true. The first thing you must do is to remember what your dream is. 23 Keep telling yourself what you want. Do this step by step and your dream will come true faster because a big dream is, in fact, made up of many small dreams. You must also never give up your dream.
24 But the biggest difficulty comes from yourself. You need to decide what is the most important. Studying instead of watching TV will bring you better exam results, while saving five yuan instead of buying an ice cream means you can buy a new book. Along the way, you might also find your dream isn’t exactly (准确地) what you first imagined. 25 This is good as you have the chance to learn more skills and find new interests.
A.Don’t let it leave your heart.

C.There will be difficulties on the road to your dream.

Do you want to make your life better? A good plan can help you. Here are some steps to make a great plan for yourself.
26 Think about what you want to achieve in the next year. Do you want to get better grades? Do you want to be healthier? Do you want to learn a new skill? Be clear about your goals.
27 Once you have your goals, break them into small, easy steps. For example, if you want to get better grades, you can make a step to finish your homework on time every day and another step to ask the teacher for help when you don’t understand something.
28 It’s important to set a time for each step. When do you want to finish each step? For example, you can say “I will finish my homework on time every day starting from this Monday.”
29 Write down your plan and put it somewhere you can see it, like on your bedroom wall. This will help you remember what you need to do every day.
30 Every month, check your progress. Have you finished the steps you planned? If yes, give yourself a small reward, like eating your favorite food. If not, think about why and change your plan a little.

Write down your plan. 34 You can put it on the wall or your desk to see it easily and won’t forget it. You can also share your plan with your family and friends.

Finally, resolutions can help people face the difficulties. There are all kinds of difficulties and problems in people’s lives. 40 But with the help of resolutions they make, they are more willing (愿意) to face the difficulties and problems.
