Camping provides outdoor lovers with the relaxation of the mind and inner peace. Here are some common ways to camp. Tent Camping This is the most basic and common way of camping. You can put up a tent in a park, on the beach, in the woods, or anywhere else you like, enjoying a few nights. Tent camping is a great choice for people who don’t want to spend a lot of money to get started. It is perfect for families with children because it creates a special time for parents and kids. Hiking Camping Hiking camping, backpacking trip, means an outdoor camp, where you will spend the whole day hiking with necessary equipment on your back. It can last anywhere from a few days to several months. It gives you the chance to get closer to nature. In case of an emergency, you’d better share your travel plans with someone. Survival Camping In this type of camping, a variety of skills are required to learn in order to survive in various outdoor conditions. You will search for food on your own in the wild and take emergency medical measures in the event of danger. It would be a good idea to have a partner with a wealth of experience in the wild. RV Camping If you go camping in a motorhome, you will have more time to enjoy the outdoors. With a motorhome, you have almost everything at home, including comfortable beds, kitchens and entertainment. All you need is to find a suitable parking lot where you can park your car. You can also cook and enjoy food in the car and it will feel great. However, this is not recommended for starters. 21. Which camping is suitable for beginner campers? A. Tent camping. B. Hiking camping. C. Survival camping. D. RV camping. 22. What do Hiking Camping and Survival Camping have in common? A. They attract kids. B. They are family-friendly. C. They require training. D. They may be risky. 23. What is a unique advantage of RV camping? A. Homely comfort. B. Access to nature. C. Low costs. D. Flexible schedules B As summer ends, new students are starting high school. We talk to some of them, and they share their thoughts as they leave their old schools behind and start a new life. Eva Lumber is leaving for Ashton Park School, and she says, “Most of my friends are going to another school, but I chose Ashton Park because of its sports. I do a lot of sports. I’m looking forward to having lots of different lessons in different classrooms, but a bit apprehensive about getting lost in the first few days, because the school is really big.” Jaison Paul is going to Chorlton High School. “Most of my friends are going to different schools. I feel quite shy about talking in front of a lot more students and people I don’t know. But even though I feel nervous, I’m looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends and to having more lessons, especially in science, because there are more resources there,” he says. We also talk to some older students, who offer freshmen their advice. Tyrell Cobo-Brown and Marni Barlow-Marshall are two of them. Tyrell suggests, “Always be yourself. You will make friends, even if you don’t run into many people from your old school. I only had a few friends at first, but now I have lots. Also, always finish your work before the deadline (截止日期), or you might not finish it at all, as I know from experience. And remember to keep your study notes because they’ll help you understand what you learn.” Marni says, “Try your hardest. There will be people cleverer than you, so just try not to compare yourself to others. Don’t be afraid to make new friends; put yourself out there. You don’t always have to stay friends with your old ones; sometimes it’s good to let go of the past.” 24. What does the underlined word “apprehensive” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Angry. B. Curious. C. Surprised. D. Worried. 25. What can we learn about Jaison? A. He is interested in science. B. He is confident in front of others. C. He is afraid of making new friends. D. He is nervous about having more lessons. 26. What advice does Tyrell offer to freshmen about their studies? A. Always have a study plan of your own. B. Be your best self and learn from experience. C. Make sure you understand everything in class. D. Complete your work on time and keep notes. 27. What idea about friendships would Marni support? A. Just have a few close friends. B. Move on from old friendships. C. Never compare yourself to old friends. D. Try hard to develop lasting friendships. C More than half the world’s languages are in danger of being swallowed by dominant languages within this century. That’s why the United Nations declared 2022 — 2032 the International Decade of Native Languages. But turning the trend of language extinction (消亡) is no easy task. We know that to keep languages alive, we have to create an immersive (沉浸式的) environment. A good example of the immersion method is “language nests”, where little kids and other beginners learn from fluent elders. One of the first language nests was started in New Zealand in 1982 by Maori elders who worried that their language, culture and even pride were disappearing. The elders decided to teach children their native tongue through culturally relevant song and play. The language nest model was so successful that it migrated to Hawaii and then throughout the world. Language nests are typically physical spaces but can also be found online. Immersion programs require significant funding and resources to remain sustainable over time. The lack of capacity makes it hard: not enough content, training and teachers. People don’t realize the cost of revitalizing (复兴) languages and what it would cost to run entire educational systems in these languages. To establish the institutions, to train the people, and to make sure the proper techniques are in place to write and read in the languages are huge challenges. Areas where one native language has the most influence — such as Maori or Hawaiian may have an advantage because they begin with a fairly large speaker base and can focus funding, teacher training and resources on that language. But countries with a high level of language diversity face a serious challenge. However, whatever it takes, it’s worthwhile for communities to preserve their ancestral tongues for generations to come. 28. Why did Maori elders start a language nest? A. Because they wanted to spread their songs and plays. B. Because they couldn’t accept other languages. C. Because they worried about their language, culture and pride. D. Because they wanted to call on little kids to learn English. 29. What does Paragraph 4 mainly tell us about the immersion programs? A. Their benefits. B. Their learners. C. Their future. D. Their challenges. 30. Which area may face serious challenge if it revitalizes language? A. An area with a high level of language diversity. B. An area with many serious aging problems. C. An area where people don’t like languages in other places. D. An area where one native language has the greatest influence. 31. What’s the best title of the passage? A. Languages in Africa B. Teaching Elders to Learn C. Revitalizing Languages D. Creating New Languages D The human brain remembers negative experiences more easily than positive ones. Our brains have developed in this way because threats, like dangerous animals, have a more immediate effect on people’s survival compared to positive things like food or shelter. As a result, you clearly know what makes you unhappy, but do you know what makes you happy? Research suggests that our level of happiness is partly shaped by the choices we make. If you’ve been chasing wealth, fame, power and some material things, you may be looking for happiness in the wrong places. Psychologists suggest that the following habits can make people happier. People who own close relationships tend to be happier than those who do not. The number of our friends is not important. What matters is the quality of our relationships. Relationships that bring happiness usually consist of the sharing of feelings, acceptance, mutual (互相的) respect and trust. People who exercise regularly can improve both their physical and mental well-being. Some research has shown that exercise can be as effective as some medicine in treating depression. If we are so interested in an activity, we may lose track of time, and we can be in a state of flow. The activity could be playing the piano, surfing the Internet or playing a game… People who experience flow in their work or life tend to be happier. People are more likely to be happy if they know what their strengths are and can use them regularly. People are especially happy when they can set goals and use their strengths to achieve them. People, who think positively by being grateful, mindful and optimistic, are more likely to be happy. Being grateful means being thankful. Being mindful means considering, focusing on, and enjoying the experiences of the present moment. Being optimistic means being hopeful about the future. 32. Why do human brains remember negative things more easily? A. Because negative things are easy to remember. B. Because negative things can make people live much happier. C. Because negative things are much more important than other things. D. Because negative things tend to affect human survival immediately. 33. According to this passage, in which of the following can people not find happiness? A. Chasing power. B. Doing sports. C. Playing the violin. D. Making friends. 34. In the last paragraph, what does the author try to tell us? A. We should think more about our future. B. We should be positive in our life and work. C. We should focus on everything in our life. D. We should only enjoy the present moment. 35. What does the passage mainly want to tell us? A. Some habits that make people happy. B. The habits people form in their life. C. Why people remember positive things easily. D. Why people remember negative things easily. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 School days mean homework, studying, exams, and social interactions — not to mention getting up early every morning. It’s understandable if you don’t always feel your happiest going to school during the week. But it’s also something you can totally improve! 36 Focus on the good things about school. 37 Think about the bigger picture and how your education will have a positive impact on your life in the long run. If you’re having a bad day, tell yourself that you only have to be in school for a relatively short period of your life. After that, the sky is the limit! Do something nice for someone. 38 Give another student some positive encouragement. Or, thank a teacher for a fun activity or an interesting lesson. If you see someone else that looks like they might be feeling down, tell them you like their hairstyle or praise the work they have done. 39 If someone isn’t nice to you at school, it’s probably not your fault. Try to remember that nobody is perfect and think about what might be going on in their lives that makes them act negatively towards you. Try your best to sweep away a dirty look or a bad comment and move on with your day, not getting angry and upset. Reward yourself. Once you get that big A on your exam or work, don’t forget to go out and celebrate! It’s always great to reward yourself when you do something good, especially when it will benefit your future in so many ways! Always believe that you can and you will go a long way! No one can change your future other than you. 40 A. Smile more often. B. Making other people smile can improve your own happiness. C. The following tips can help you feel happier on school days. D. Try not to take negativity from others too hard. E. A little positive thinking can go a long way towards improving your mood. F. Whether in school or at home, you may look for ways to make learning more enjoyable. G. Do your best with what you have and try your hardest, while also trying to have some fun along the way. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 My family moved to England when I was little, and my English then was rather poor. Just a month ago, I avoided speaking English by any means — my vocabulary was limited, and I feared mispronouncing simple words. When Mr. Li announced the “English Story Sharing” homework, I wanted to give up immediately. The first week was a terrible dream. I spent hours searching for basic words like “courage” and “determination” in my dictionary, only to forget them the next day. My partner Lily noticed my worry and offered to practice with me after class. We read short stories aloud, and she corrected my pronunciation of “th” and “r” patiently. Though I made mistakes when speaking sentences and felt bad about my mistakes, Lily never laughed — she just said, “Mistakes are part of learning.” As we kept practicing, small successes started to add up. One afternoon, when I was describing how a person felt, I naturally said “amazed” without stopping to check the dictionary. Lily’s eyes lit up, and she clapped (击掌) hands with me and said, “You did that without thinking!” That moment filled me with a little confidence. Every night after that, I began practicing in front of the mirror. I used hand movements to make the story more lively, even if I made mistakes with a word or two. I’d repeat the hard sentences over and over until they came out fluently. Slowly, the note cards didn’t feel like something I couldn’t live without — they felt more like a helpful friend guiding me along. Later, I tried recording myself telling the story of my favorite book. Listening back, I was uncomfortable with how bad my sentences sounded. But instead of giving up, I rewrote the text, replacing difficult words with simpler ones I’d learned. I recorded again and again and Lily always gave me valuable advice. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Finally, the day of the story sharing arrived. _____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ When I finished my story, the classroom broke into applause (掌声). _________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
