Imagine a lively setting, full of laughter and curiosity. That was the scene and sounds of my classroom as I guided young minds through-different adventures.
At our school's learning center, I led a program that ranged from simple art projects and sports games to hands-on science experiments. We painted colorful pictures, kicked soccer balls across the field, and watched vinegar and baking soda fi ss in clear cups. Every activity turned our classroom into a place for discovery and fun.
I enjoyed spending time with the kids I was helping and learning alongside. That was my favorite part about the program. One memorable class involved making bubbles(肥皂泡). The children ran after the floating oubbles, shouting with delight, and I felt like a child again, caught up in their wonder. That simple game showed me how small joys can umn a normal day into something special.
The positive effect of our classes rippled throughout the school. Other students noticed how happy our classroom sounded. They began to join in, and soon the entire learning center felt warmer and more welcoming.
However, as I started this journey, I found it hard to stay calm when the children became noisy. But as I spent more time with them, I learned patience, kindness, and how to show empathy(同理符 ). I discovered that gentle words and clear instructions could turn disorder into order. My“little friends” taught me as much as I taught them.
The energy and joy that filled the room not only umpacted the children but left a long-lasting mark on me. They made me realize that education goes oeyond textbooks. It's about caring for each student, fanning their curiosity, and discovering the wonders of the world, one activity at a time.

Although overweight people are often treated unfairly in various social situations, what many people fail to notice is that such discrimination (歧视) is far more serious than people have thought in work, leading to pay gaps between the sexes.
For a long time, proresstionals held the view that only obese (肥胖的) women would face an income cut, while men were hardly affected. To check whether this traditional idea is true, researchers from The Economist have carefully examined the personal information of over 23,000full-time workers aged 25 to 54. The results show that being obese hurts both women's and men's income.
Generally, men's BMI has nothing to do with their income, but things change with university degrees. For both sexes, better-educated workers are, in particular, treated unfairly for their weight. The higher their education, the bigger the pay cut. Obese men with an undergraduate degree earn 5%less, while those with a graduate degree earn 14% less. Obese women are worse off. with 12% and19% less pay.
Different jobs also bring different results. In high-skill industries like healthcare and management, overweight workers are at a clear disadvantage. However, in some physical work industries such as construction and farming, obesity has not caused lower incomes. As a result, the total yearly loss from this discrimination in America may reach $70 billion, more than twice the earlier guess.
To deal with this unfair phenomenon, several states and local governments in the United States have begun to consider related laws, and a new official rule was put into effect in New York City onNovember 22nd. Meanwhile, many experts nave pointed out that discrimination against obese women has long existed in the United States and addressing this unfair phenomenon requires united efforts. Laws and rules could only be part of the solution.
28. What can we learn about weight discrimination in work?
A. It has been fully gnored. B. It causes differences in pay
C. It affects both sexes equally. D. It has a greater fimpact on men.
29. According to the study, which group of . obese workers is the least paid?
A. men with a graduate degree B. men with an undergraduate degree
C. women with a graduate degree D. women with an undergraduate degree
30. What do the experts suggest to solve the problem?
A. better working conditions B. strict laws against unfairness
C. collective efforts from all sides D positive attitude toward weight
31. What might be the best title for the passage?
A. Pay gap: an issue between sexes
B. Pay gap: an untar social phenomenon
C. Weight discrimination: a threat to health
D. Weight discrimination: a hidden cause of pay gap
Over the last seven years, most states have oanned texting by drivers, and public service campaiēns have tried a wide range of methods to persuade people to put down their phones when they are pening the wheel.

The technology could determine whether a driver had just texted, emailed or done anything else that is not allowed under New York's hands-free driving laws.
" We need something on the books that can change people's behavior,” said Félix W. Ortiz, who pushed for the state's 2001 ban on hand-held devices by drivers. If the Textalyzer nill becomes law, he said," people are going to be more afraid to put their hands on the cell phone."
32. Which of the following best describes the ban on drivers' texting in the US?

Dear Jim,
I’m glad to learn that you are coming to China for the National Day holiday.
Of the two cities, I strongly recommend Xi’ an for your trip. As one of China’ s ancient capitals, it has the world-famousTerracotta Army, which shows the great power of the Qin Dynasty. Besides, you can ride bikes on the ancient city wall, taste delicious local food and feel the amazing ancient Chinese culture. What's more, there are not so many tourists as inBeijing, so you can visit historical sites at your own speed and take wonderful photos.
I hope my advice will be helpful to you. If you have any other questions, feel free to write to me. Wish you a pleasant trip in China. Looking forward to your arrival.

At first, Asad wanted to keep it a secret and punished Fahad. His hands trembled as he held the wallet, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts.“Fahad was so cruel to me. He deserves to learn a lesson,” he thought. But then, his conscience pricked him.“What if this were my wallet? How would I feel?” he mused. After a long, hard battle within himself, he took a deep breath and walked towards Fahad.“Fahad, I found your wallet,” he said, his voice a bit shaky but determined.
Then Fahad said,“Why are you giving back my wallet?” Asad looked straight into his eyes and replied,“Because it's the right thing to do. I believe in honesty, even when it's tough.” Fahad was stunned. He had never expected this. A wave of shame washed over him.“I’ m really sorry for how I treated you,” he said sincerely. From that moment on, Fahad made a conscious effort to change. He started being kind to everyone, and he and Asad became inseparable friends, all thanks toAsad's unwavering honesty.
示范二
At first, Asad wanted to keep it a secret and punished Fahad. He stared at the wallet, a mix of anger and temptation in his heart.“This could teach him a lesson about being arrogant,” he muttered. But as he thought about it more, he remembered his parents’ teachings about honesty.“I can’ t stoop to his level,” he decided. With a resolute look, he walked up to Fahad.“Here’ s your wallet,” he said firmly.
Then Fahad said,“Why are you giving back my wallet?” Asad answered,“Honesty is more important than revenge. Iknow you might not respect me, but I respect myself enough to do the right thing.” Fahad was taken aback. For the first time, he saw the error of his ways.“I was wrong. I'm sorry,” he said sheepishly. From then on, Fahad's attitude transformed completely. He and Asad became good friends, and Asad's honesty had not only won him a friend but also a new-found respect in the class.

根据第一段中“Over the last seven years, most states have banned texting by drivers, and public servicecampaigns have tried a wide range of methods to persuade people to put down their phones when they are behind the wheel.”(在过去的七年里,大多数州都禁止司机发短信,公共服务活动也尝试了各种各样的方法来说服人们在开车时放下手机。) 以及第二段中“Yet the problem, by just about any measure, appears to be getting worse.”(然而,无论以何种标准衡量,这个问题似乎都在恶化。) 故选A。
根据倒数第二段中“The technology could determine whether a driver had just texted, emailed or doneanything else that is not allowed under New York's hands-free driving laws.”
根据句中的“We need something on the books that can change people's behavior.”(我们需要一些能改变人们行为的东西,)可知, something是能够改变人们的行为的事情。根据下文的“If the Textalyzer bill becomes law, hesaid," people are going to be more afraid to put their hands on the cell phone.”(他说,如果 Textalyzer法案成为法律,“人们会更害怕拿起手机。)可知,人们的行为会改变的条件是当 Textalyzer法案成为法律。收到法律的约束和惩罚,司机们才不会在开车的时候使用手机。故something 指代的是法律。故选D。
【35题详解】
主旨大意题。纵观全文,第一段和第二段阐述的是“虽然大多数州已经尝试了各种各样的方法来说服人们在开车时放下手机。可是问题却越来越严重”。第三段中“That is partly because people are driving more.”(部分原因是开车的人越来越多)可知,解释了该行为产生的部分原因。 Texting and Driving? Watch Out for theTextalyzer

M: Have you ever played chess? Well, humans began playing chess in northern India nearly 1,500 years ago.But we only recently began competing against computers. Garry Kasparov is one of the greatest world chess champions in history. In 1996, he started to play a famous match against a computer called Deep Blue. To play chess well, you need many different skills. But computers can only calculate numbers. Kasparov made the first move. An engineer moved the chess pieces for Deep Blue. A chess master like Kasparov can think about three moves a second. But in a match held in 1997, the computer was able to process 200 million possible moves in a second. The first game took nearly four hours, ending in the computer's loss. But the second game was different. Kasparov tried to trick Deep Blue into a mistake. But the computer didn't respond immediately. It was quiet for 15 minutes. It seemed like the computer was thinking. It wasn't tricked. Instead,it made a great move of its own. This time, the human lost to the machine.
