①Have you ever heard about someone described as “conscientious (勤勉认真的)”? It is a special quality that helps people succeed in school, work, and relationships. But what does it really mean?
②Conscientious students finish homework early, follow rules carefully, and never give up when things get hard. They are responsible and often help others without being asked.
③One key part of this quality is perseverance. Life is full of challenges, and sometimes we want to give up. However, experts say that sticking with a task, even in small steps, is very important. Child psychologist (儿童心理学家) Laura Gwilt explains, “When you keep going instead of giving up, you show yourself that effort matters.”
④Another important step is making plans and keeping them. Maybe you plan to join a new club or study every day after school. If you stick to these plans, you prove that you are excellent. This shows your teachers, family, and friends that they can trust you. Being trustworthy is a key skill for your future.

In July 2026, Anthropic, the company behind the AI assistant Claude, announced (宣告) a major plan to enter K-12 education. Claude will be used in over 1,000 schools across the United States as a learning assistant for students and a planning tool for teachers.
Claude is different from other AI tools because it is designed to be more careful and smarter. It tries to give accurate (精准的) answers and avoids giving biased (有偏见的) information. When it is not sure about something, it will say so instead of making up an answer. This makes it more trustworthy for educational use.
In classrooms, Claude will help students with many tasks. It can explain difficult concepts (概念) in simple language, check homework for mistakes, and create practice questions for different subjects. For teachers, Claude can help write lesson plans, create tests and track student progress.
Not everyone is happy about AI entering schools. Some parents worry that students will become lazy and stop thinking for themselves. Others are concerned about data privacy (隐私)—Claude will collect information about students’ learning habits.
Anthropic says it takes privacy seriously. “We will not share any student data with third parties,” the company promised. They also said that Claude is designed to help, not replace, human teachers.
The debate (辩论) about AI in education is likely to continue. But one thing is clear. Digital technology is changing the way we learn, and schools need to prepare students for a digital future.
13. What makes Claude different from other AI tools?
A. It is free to use. B. It is faster.
C. It is more careful and smarter. D. It can speak more languages.
14. What can Claude do for teachers?
A. Replace them completely. B. Cook meals for students.
C. Write lesson plans and create tests. D. Drive students to school.
15. What did Anthropic promise about student data?
A. They will sell it to other companies.
B. They will not share it with third parties.
C. They will delete it every month.
D. They will publish it online.
16. What is the author’s attitude towards AI in education?
A. Completely against it. B. Completely supportive (支持的).
C. Objective (客观的) and balanced. D. Not mentioned.

Dyslexia is a learning problem. It makes reading and spelling hard. This problem has something to do with the brain, but it doesn’t mean the person is dumb (愚笨的). Many smart and talented people have dyslexia.
Jennifer Smith is one of them. She was diagnosed with (被诊断患有) dyslexia at the age of nine. “I could remember how to read a simple word, like ‘the’, on some days, but on other days I would forget,” she said.
Soon after, she started receiving special training once a week. The training used different ways to teach her, like seeing, hearing, and moving. “After three weeks, I could read whole sentences,” she said.
Three years later, Jennifer tried to help a boy in her neighbourhood. “He was having trouble reading,” she said. “But his parents didn’t know he had dyslexia.” She also wanted to help other kids and their parents. The girl decided to do this by writing a book about her story.
Writing a book, of course, is not easy. Jennifer did it slowly. She wrote her ideas down one after another. Finally, after four years, she published her first book, Dyslexia Wonders. Later, she also started a fund (基金). It has helped many kids with dyslexia.

Dear Jesse,
I’m glad to share with you my ideas about friendship.
To me, friendship means trust and support. It is like sunshine that brings warmth to our life. My best friend is Li Ming. We get along well because we always help each other with study and daily problems. When I am sad, he often cheers me up. True friends stay together even in trouble. How can we develop friendships? First, we should be honest and kind to others. Second, joining school clubs is a good way to meet new friends. Also, listening carefully is important.
I hope everyone can find true friendship and enjoy school life.
Yours
Li Hua
