Learning Chinese is a challenging but good experience as it gives you the opportunity to communicate with more than a billion people.
Foreigners think Chinese is a mysterious (神秘的) and difficult language because it is very different from the Roman alphabet (罗马字母). In fact, Chinese is not much more difficult than learning any other language. One reason is that Chinese does not require memorizing the kind of complex tenses (时态) like European languages.
Although it is certainly not easy for foreigners, in my experience you can learn Chinese fast. You will certainly find differences between the language in textbooks and people’s everyday speech. One example of this is the difference between languages on the street and written Chinese. It produces new phrases and vocabulary. In real life nowadays, people often use short, less conversational phrases to communicate with each other. China has many provinces and their dialects are different. After you learn and understand the Beijing dialect, you may find it is hard to understand Shanghai dialect.
The language continues developing. So it is still not easy for learners, no matter how well they learn from textbooks.
I hope that one day more Chinese courses are able to be connected with “real” spoken Chinese and the way in which Chinese people speak daily. It will help foreign learners to help bridge the gap between learners and native (本土的) speakers.
28. According to the passage, why does the writer think Chinese is not so difficult to learn?
A. It gives you the opportunity to communicate with more than a billion people.
B. It doesn’t require memorizing the kind of complex tenses.
C. It is very different from the Roman alphabet.
D. You can find Chinese courses very easily.
29. According to the passage, which sentence may agree with the writer’s idea?
A. Chinese is more difficult to learn than any other language.
B. People often use long sentences in the real life nowadays.
C. The development of language is still going on.
D. Foreign learners don’t have to connect Chinese courses with “real” spoken Chinese.
30. According to paragraph 5, what should you do if you want to learn Chinese well?
A. Learn some dialects in Chinese daily life.
B. Learn written Chinese in Chinese daily life.
C. Learn real spoken Chinese in Chinese daily life.
D. Learn complex tenses in Chinese daily life.
31. What can we infer (推断) from the text?
A. It is too difficult to learn Chinese. B. It is challenging to learn Chinese.
C. It is important to learn Chinese well. D. It is necessary to learn Chinese.
D
Over the past ten years, China has developed quickly, and its high-speed rail system stands out as clear proof (证明). On December 26 of last year, three new high-speed rail lines started service. With a network of these new lines, China’s total high-speed rail operating mileage (运营里程) has reached over 50,000 kilometers. It is more than the total length of all high-speed rail lines in the rest of the world.
Nowadays, high-speed rail serves 97% of Chinese cities with over 500,000 people. ________ Traveling between cities within 500 kilometers takes only one to two hours, and a 1,000-kilometer journey takes about four hours. An average of 16 million passengers take the high-speed rail every day. Back then, buying train tickets during busy seasons was a headache, and the average train speed was only 60 kilometers per hour.
High-speed rail now connects big cities with medium-sized and small towns, and drives travel and local industries (产业). For example, after the Nanchang-Huangshan high-speed rail opened in 2017, Jiangxi Province saw a big rise in tourist visits over ten years. What’s more, China has shared its technology and experience through working with over 40 countries.
From a late-comer to a world-leading project, China’s high-speed rail stands as a proud symbol of the country’s progress. China’s railway industry is also exploring faster maglev (磁悬浮) trains to drive further development in transportation in the future.
32. Which picture shows the relationship of high-speed rail mileage between China and the rest of the world?
A. B. C. D.
33. Which of the following can be put in the “________”?
A. It has made traveling much more expensive.
B. Old trains were very popular among people many years ago.
C. High-speed rail also helps local tourism develop in many places.
D. It has greatly changed people’s travel experience.
34. What’s the writer’s attitude towards the future of China’s maglev trains?
A. Uncertain. B. Doubtful. C. Hopeful. D. Negative.
35. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The Progress of China’s High-speed Rail.
B. Different Ways of Traveling in China.
C. How to Build High-Speed Rail Lines.
D. The Future of Maglev Trains in China.

阅读下文并回答问题。
The UK government will not allow people under 16 to use social media, similar to the social media ban (禁令) in Australia. Nations such as Canada and Brazil are also developing similar protections for young internet users.
Between March and May, the government made a public survey and received many replies from people. Nine in ten of the parents in the survey supported the rule. Two thirds of the young people also agreed. Here are some comments.
@Alina (15, 9th grader)
This ban doesn’t make sense at all. I use social media to stay connected with my school project group, and I’ve joined art communities that help me practice my drawing. If major platforms (主要平台) are shut off for us, many teens will turn to smaller, unknown, and unsafe apps.
@Mr. White (father of a teenage boy)
I’m over the moon. My 14-year-old boy used to stay up late chatting on these platforms, and his grades and mood both got much worse. Tech companies only care about keeping users glued to their screens, not kids’ health. They finally have to answer for (为...负责) the harm their products cause.
@Ms. Carter (middle school English teacher)
Our school has had a classroom phone ban for a year. It has clearly improved students’ focus in lessons. Also, this rule would give children more space to learn and grow without so much social pressure.
It’s true that the rule sounds reasonable but carries hidden risks. To prove (证明) their ages, users have to hand over (提交) more personal information online and it might be dangerous for them. To make better use of the social media, _____________________.
41. Can students in UK primary schools use the major social media after the ban?
___________________________________________
42. According to Alina, what will many teenagers do after the social media ban starts?
___________________________________________
43. Why do some people support the ban?
___________________________________________
44. What can be done to help teenagers make better use of the social media? Finish the ending. (about 30 words)

Ⅶ. 完成句子。(69-72小题,每空1分;73小题2分;共10分)

Yang Xiaolong, 40, is the Party secretary of a small village in Yunnan Province. ____45____ he ____46____ to work in big cities? (一般疑问句) Yes. But in 2019 he returned to his hometown. Many villagers ____47____ ____48____ easy lives at that time. (否定句) So, Yang started the live-streaming business in the village to help them live with ease. ____49____ ____50____ they sell online? VIII. 概要补全。(74和75小题,每小题2分;76和77小题,每小题3分;共10分)

Every successful team needs strong leadership (领导力). It’s like a guide on a trip and a bridge over water. It’s like a map in the wild and a light in the dark. It’s like a hand in trouble and a voice in silence. Becoming an excellent leader is a challenging journey. It requires (要求) lots of hard work and practice.
First, a good leader should drive the team toward a common goal, such as finishing a project, winning a competition or solving a problem together. But he shouldn’t only care about reaching the goal. Team members also hope to grow by trying new tasks to build courage, working with others to learn teamwork, and taking new roles to discover their own strengths and weaknesses. So, a good leader should learn to find a balance.
What’s more, a successful leader should be someone that others respect. Above all, his fairness can bring people together. He praises whoever does well, making sure everyone’s efforts are noticed. Also, his honesty can help improve the team. He doesn’t avoid pointing out problems when needed. Such a leader is worth trusting (信任), and because of that, the team will work better together.
For those who want to become good leaders, schools are great places to start developing leadership. Schools provide them with many chances to practice in real situations. For example, in class group work, students learn to organize their teams, listen to everyone’s ideas, and make right decisions when disagreements happen. These early experiences benefit students. No matter what jobs students wish to do after growing up, early leadership experiences help them a lot.
This passage talks about the importance of leadership and teaches us ________54________. Firstly, we must have the ability to ________55________. Besides, being ________56________ can make others respect and trust us. For us students, schools are great places to practice skills by organizing group work, listening to others, and solving disagreements. If we have these early experiences, ________57________.

【答案】32. C 33. D 34. C 35. A

最后一段指出“China’s railway industry is also exploring faster maglev trains to drive further development in transportation in the future.”,可推知作者认为磁悬浮列车的探索会推动未来交通的进一步发展,对中国磁悬浮列车的未来持充满希望的态度。
【35题详解】

@Alina (15, 9th grader)
___________________________________________
【答案】41. No, they can’t.
42. They will turn to smaller, unknown, and unsafe apps.
43. Because it protects children’s health, improves study focus and reduces social pressure.
44. parents and teachers should guide them to protect personal information. They need to manage time wisely and use social media safely to avoid potential risks while staying connected with others.

例文
How I’ve Changed
My life has changed a lot since I entered junior high school.
In the past, I lived in a small flat near school, so I walked there. Now, I live in a larger flat farther away, so I take the bus. As for study, I used to be uninterested and not confident. Now I become interested in learning and more confident. I enjoy studying with friends.
I look up to my English teacher now. She inspires me. It was nice of her to help me. Though many things have changed, one thing has stayed the same. I love my family forever. I will work harder to make my dream come true.
