It’s Saturday. You step inside a comfortable, creative studio. The host asks you to take your seat in front of the vintage (复古) typewriter that calls to you.
The host is Daniella Zanchi, founder of Poesy, a Canadian company that holds monthly poetry and letter writing workshops. “We go through basics of poetry writing,” says Ms. Zanchi, “or we’ll focus on how to write a poem drawn from the conversation with others.” Everyone gets a handout with three prompts (提示). “We encourage them to write two sentences per prompt, and then we teach them to cut the extra words and do what we call ‘mining for gold’,” she says. Once they’ve found their “gold,” — the best bits in their free writing — they start typing.
“The typewriter requires you to slow down, because, unlike a laptop, you need to type with one finger at a time,” says Ms. Zanchi, “so you have more time to think about what you put on the page.”
As an object that requires focus, the typewriter is central to the workshop’s appeal. “It allows people to unplug, learn to use something new, and create something by hand,” she says.
People leave with two poems: one they write for themselves, and one written about them by someone else in the room. Every element of the workshop can be surprisingly satisfying, especially for those who tend to speed through their daily life, addicted to screens. After all, the workshop isn’t just about writing poetry — it’s also about rediscovering what it feels like to create something without a delete button, giving yourself permission to be imperfect.
Writing poetry has mental health benefits, similar to those of journaling. It allows people to release thoughts and feelings onto a page and reflect on them intentionally.
Beyond the individual benefits, the workshop offers a special experience. “We’ve seen genuine connections come from a space designed to encourage story-sharing and openness,” says Ms. Zanchi. It sounds like the perfect subject for a poem.
4. What are participants guided to do in Ms. Zanchi’s workshops?
A. Run writing workshops. B. Find the best parts of their sentences.
C. Design writing prompts. D. Learn advanced typing techniques.
5. What makes vintage typewriters attractive to participants?
A. Encouraging focused creation. B. Helping reduce spelling mistakes.
C. Simplifying poem writing rules. D. Speeding up the thinking process.
6. What does the author suggest by mentioning “create something without a delete button” in paragraph 5?
A. Modern tools limit creativity. B. Imperfection is acceptable in creation.
C. Careful typing ensures better results. D. Perfection calls for repeated revisions.
7. What is the value of the poetry-writing workshop?
A. Working for professional writers. B. Teaching advanced poem writing skills.
C. Bringing personal and shared gains. D. Increasing the popularity of poems online.

School children around the world are being exposed on a daily basis to cigarette advertising and promotions by a tobacco industry that needs to recruit the young to maintain its vast profits.
A major investigation in more than 22 countries across four continents by campaigners and experts has found cigarettes or promotions on display close to sweets, drinks or stationery in shops just outside schools, and often at the eye line of children.
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free kids analyzed reports since 2014 carried out by a range of public health groups, NGO and Johns Hopkins University.
Marlboro cigarettes made by Philip Morris and British American Tobacco brands such as Pass Mall, Kent, Dunhill and Lucky Strike were being sold and promoted within 300 meters or closer to schools in nearly all the countries researchers examined in a series of studies.
Brand made by Japan Tobacco and Imperial were seen near schools in a smaller number.
In Peru, Guardian correspondents saw single sticks apparently for also in corner shops near schools in flavors attractive to children. In Indonesia they saw banner ads above stalls near a primary school. In India, they saw simple cigarettes and tiny packets of chewing tobacco for sale alongside sweet directly opposite school gates.
Big Tobacco denies promoting its products to children; Philip Morris International (PMI) said it observes relevant regulations. ‘Preventing children from smoking is of the highest priority and we take very seriously our responsibility to ensure that we do not market to children anywhere in the world.’ British American Tobacco (BAT) said, ‘Under-age smokers are not, and will never be, our target consumers… products and marketing should never appeal to, or engage under-age smokers. Across the world, we have very strict rules to ensure we do not have outdoor advertising within 100 meters of a school.’
Japan Tobacco and Imperial did not respond to a request for comment.
8. According to the passage, _______ is/are not included in that makes cigarette appealing to children.

9. The writer tries to make the report convincing by _______.
A. analyzing the reasons behind the phenomenon
B. quoting exact words from relevant regulations
C. comparting the situations in different countries
D. listing facts collected by correspondents
10. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Companies use different policies to market to children in different countries.
B. Both schools and parents are to blame for children’s smoking cigarettes.
C. Japanese companies do not accept the accusation from the campaigners.
D. There is a gap between tobacco companies’ statements and real situations.
11. What’s the best title for the passage?
A. What are the effects of cigarette on children
B. How children are exposed to cigarette adverts

Robots have learned to drive on Mars, carry out brain operation and beat master chess players. But when it comes to baking, making tasty desserts (甜品) is far from a piece of cake. After many failed attempts, US researchers have successfully 3D printed a cherry cheesecake, although the outcome is unlikely to trouble the world’s dessert masters.
In the latest experiment, researchers tried different cheesecake designs. In early attempts, which included simply adding ingredients (材料) one by one, the team found that the cake quickly turned into a mixture. Having tried many times, they discovered something special. Walls of biscuit base were required throughout the cake to hold the softer ingredients, while round biscuit supports on the inside were necessary to keep the cake from falling apart. “To print the cake successfully, we need to put the ingredients together in a careful way” said the team leader Cooper.
Although much work is still needed to collect data and improve the designs, scientists are hopeful that once mastered, 3D printing could take the place of traditional cooking, allowing food to meet different nutritional (营养的) needs. “We have a huge problem with the low nutrition of processed (加工的) foods” said Cooper. “3D food printing will still produce processed foods, but perhaps the silver lining will be, for some people, a better control of nutrition based on personalized needs.”
The team said 3D printing could also allow cooks to create entirely new food experiences. “It is particularly practical for the plant-based meat market, where different tastes need to be carefully designed to be like real meats,” said Cooper. And, with more concern about food safety, food prepared with less human handling could lower the risk of food-related illness and the spread of disease. According to Cooper, this seems like a win-win solution for all of us.
12. Why does the author mention robots in paragraph 1?
A. To show the disadvantages of 3D printing.
B. To introduce the popularity of using robots.
C. To stress the difficulty of 3D printing desserts.
D. To explain the function of robots in different areas.
13. What is the key to the success of the 3D printed cheesecake?
A. The structural design of the cake. B. The thickness of biscuit walls.
C. The unique taste of ingredients. D. The flexibility of inside support.
14. What do the underlined words “the silver lining” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. The side effect. B. The main reason.
C. The best solution. D. The positive part.
15. What is the last paragraph mainly about concerning 3D printed food?
A. Promising markets. B. Additional benefits.
C. Practical concerns. D. Technical challenges.

C 13. A 14. D 15. B

根据第一段中“Robots have learned to drive on Mars, carry out brain operation and beat master chess players. But when it comes to baking, making tasty desserts (甜品) is far from a piece of cake. After many failed attempts, US researchers have successfully 3D printed a cherry cheesecake, although the outcome is unlikely to trouble the world’s dessert masters. (机器人已经学会了在火星上驾驶、进行脑部手术和击败国际象棋大师。但说到烘焙,制作美味的甜点远非易事。历经多次失败尝试后,美国研究人员终于成功通过3D打印技术制作出樱桃芝士蛋糕,尽管这款成品恐怕还难以撼动世界甜点大师们的地位)”可知,作者在第一段提到机器人领域的进步,是为了反衬3D打印甜点的困难。故选C项。
【13题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段中“In the latest experiment, researchers tried different cheesecake designs. (在最新实验中,研究人员尝试了多种芝士蛋糕结构设计。早期方案采用简单的逐层添加材料方式,结果蛋糕迅速塌陷成一团混合物。经过反复试验,他们发现了特殊规律:必须让饼干基座构成贯穿蛋糕的支撑墙来固定柔软材料,同时在内部设置圆形饼干支架以防止结构崩塌)”可知,3D打印芝士蛋糕成功的关键在于蛋糕的结构设计。故选A项。
根据划线词前文“3D food printing will still produce processed foods(3D食物打印仍会产生加工食品)”和后文“for some people, a better control of nutrition based on personalized needs(对一些人来说,基于个性化需求的更好的营养控制)”可知,3D食物打印虽然仍会产生加工食品,这是不好的一面,但它可以基于个性化需求更好地控制营养,这是积极的一面。由此可知,划线短语the silver lining意思是“积极的部分”,与D项“The positive part”意思相同。
根据最后一段中“The team said 3D printing could also allow cooks to create entirely new food experiences. (研究小组表示,3D打印还可以让厨师创造全新的饮食体验)”和“And, with more concern about food safety, food prepared with less human handling could lower the risk of food-related illness and the spread of disease. (而且,随着人们对食品安全的日益关注,减少人工处理的食品可以降低与食品相关的疾病和疾病传播的风险)”可知,本段主要介绍了3D打印的其它好处。故选B项。

____17____ Even as she bends low to sweep away dust, she tries to show-through her words and paintings-what it means to live with courage, optimism, and burning passion. “Every corner I clean holds my dignity,” she said, “while creating brings me great joy.”

“I never separate dreams from day or night. I walk and dream, head held high. 【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了59岁的清洁工王丽云如何在平凡的工作中坚持创作,实现艺术梦想的故事。
【16题详解】
上文“At 5 am, 59-year-old Wang Liyun has already begun her morning reading. At 6 am, she is at work, cleaning office buildings.(凌晨5点,59岁的王丽云已经开始晨读。早上6点,她开始工作,打扫办公楼)”说明王丽云在清晨就开始工作,空处和前文为顺接关系,说明王丽云在工作的间隙还进行创作。所以F项“在午餐休息时间,她利用每一个空闲时间画画或写作”承接前文工作节奏,具体展现她如何在忙碌中坚持创作,逻辑连贯。故选F。
【17题详解】
上文“Within the daily routine of wiping windows and polishing stairs, she has created works such as “Broom and Starry Sky” and written poems like “The Weight of Dust.”(在擦窗户和擦楼梯的日常生活中,她创作了《扫帚与星空》等作品,还写了《尘埃的重量》等诗歌)”说明王丽云在平凡的工作中创造了不平凡的艺术作品,空处和前文为顺接关系,说明王丽云在平凡的生活中实现了自我价值。后文“Even as she bends low to sweep away dust, she tries to show-through her words and paintings-what it means to live with courage, optimism, and burning passion.(即便她弯腰低头清扫灰尘时,她也努力通过自己的言语和画作来传达出勇敢、乐观和炽热激情地生活到底意味着什么)”通过“即使……也……”的句式,将外在的体力劳动与内在的精神表达形成鲜明对比,重点突出了王丽云在平凡工作中坚持艺术创作的精神追求。所以G项“王丽云证明了如何在平凡的日常生活中过上充实的生活”中proves与后文tries to show形成语义呼应;live a fulfilling life则精准概括了后文所述——她在清洁中保持尊严、在创作中获得快乐的人生态度,因而能够统领全段,点明主旨。故选G。
【18题详解】
上文“Born into a Hunan farming family, Wang left high school early and hold various jobs. In 2017, after her daughter graduated, Wang followed her inner calling.(王丽云出生在湖南一个农民家庭,高中辍学后做过各种工作。2017年,女儿毕业后,王丽云听从了内心的召唤)”说明王丽云一直有追求艺术的梦想,空处和前文为顺接关系,说明王丽云去追求自己的梦想了。所以A项“她独自前往福建学习绘画”正是她追寻艺术梦想的具体行动,顺理成章引出后文“carry all her savings”,符合语境。故选A。
上文“Two years later, a video of her painting in that tool room went viral, bringing her into the public eye.(两年后,一段她在工具房里画画的视频在网上疯传,让她进入了公众的视野)”说明王丽云的视频在网上走红,空处和前文为顺接关系,说明王丽云因此成为了网络名人。
上文““I never separate dreams from day or night. I walk and dream, head held high. Painting to me is colored poetry; writing is even freer, full of imagination,” Wang shared.(“我从不把梦想与白天和黑夜分开。
