(25-26八年级上·江苏南通·期中)Everyone may feel angry at any time. It’s a common feeling. Some people cry when they feel angry and some may shout. Unluckily, many of us usually hide anger. A study suggests that this can have long-term bad influences on our health.
Is it better to cry or break things whenever something makes us angry? The study shows that when we show our anger in this way, maybe we can’t get on well with our friends or our family. The more time we keep being angry, the worse result we’ll get. So how can we deal with our feelings of anger in a right way?
First, know what anger is. Anger is often caused by feelings of being too afraid, disappointment (失望) and so on.
Also, care more about those everyday things that will make us angry. For example, we may get angry in a long line at the store. Take a step back and think that it isn’t personal. Everyone in the line has dinner to make, just like us. Then we’ll feel better. Another way of dealing with anger is to talk about it. The study has shown that if we name our feelings, we can slowly calm ourselves down.
Besides, take a deep breath or find a helpful exercise to do. Exercise helps deal with anger.
Remember that how we act when we are angry can make things better or worse. If we learn to deal with anger, we will be happier and healthier.

(25-26八年级上·江苏无锡·期中)Have you ever been so lost in something that you forget what’s going on around you? This is called getting in the flow (流动) and it helps you let go of any worries.
Sometimes you can be so focused on what you’re doing that everything else seems to go away. Maybe you’re in a race and all you hear is your heart beating, or you’re so busy painting a picture you forget where you are. A psychologist (心理学家) named Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi called this being “in the flow”. It’s a happy, joyful feeling you get when focusing on something that’s challenging (有挑战性的) but fun. “Time flies,” Csikszentmihalyi said, and “every action, movement and thought” flows. “You are completely into it and trying your very best.”
Csikszentmihalyi described flow as the secret to happiness. Focusing all your energy on doing something well makes you proud of your success, explains writer Kendra Cherry. It helps you think more clearly because you pay no attention to everything else. If you’re concentrating on a game of chess, for example, you’re not worrying about schoolwork or what other people think. This helps you manage your feelings and feel less stressed. Being in the flow also feels good because you’re doing something for yourself, not for a prize (奖品) or to make other people happy.
Cherry says it can take 10 to 15 minutes of focusing your attention on something before you get fully into it. “Flow often happens when you’re doing something you enjoy and in which you are quite skilled.” she says, so pick a challenge that’s fun but you know you can do it, like solving a puzzle or drawing. Find a quiet space without any distractions (干扰) and away from phones. It also helps if you’re doing something because you want to, not because you have to. Start by practising with something you love, then try other things. Getting in the flow can make activities such as music practice or homework more enjoyable too. Cherry says.
13.What can we learn about the flow in the text?
A.It happens when you are trying to be the winner.
B.It happens when you are willing to do something.
C.It makes you feel the thing you are doing is hard.
D.It makes you feel that your time goes more slowly.
14.Which activity might help you get into the flow?
A.Watching online short videos. B.Coloring your favorite picture.
C.Listening to music while writing. D.Cleaning rooms because mom asks.
15.The following sentence can best be put at the beginning of ________.
Finding the flow is different for each person, but there are small key things that can help you get there.
A.Paragraph 1 B.Paragraph 2 C.Paragraph 3 D.Paragraph 4
16.The purpose (目的) of the text is to ________.
A.introduce the flow to readers B.tell the reasons behind the flow
C.show the importance of the flow D.give some tips to get into the flow
【答案】13.B 14.B 15.D 16.A
根据“Being in the flow also feels good because you are doing something for yourself, not for a prize…”
根据“‘Flow often happens when you’re doing something you enjoy and in which you are quite skilled.’”和“Find a quiet space without any distractions (干扰) and away from phones.”
根据“Finding the flow is different for each person, but there are small key things that can help you get there.” 根据第四段“Find a quiet space without any distractions (干扰) and away from phones.”

(25-26八年级上·江苏南通·阶段检测)Sue and Johnny were two young artists who shared a small studio in New York. In November, a disease called pneumonia came to the city, and Johnny became very ill. The doctor told Sue that Johnny had little chance to live—unless she wanted to live.
Johnny lay in bed, looking out the window. She could see an old ivy vine growing on the brick wall outside. It was winter, and the leaves were falling.
“I’m going to die,” Johnny whispered. “When the last leaf falls from that ivy vine, I will die.”
“Don’t be foolish!” said Sue. “The doctor says you will get well. You must think about your painting.”
But Johnny would not listen. She kept watching the leaves fall. Every day, there were fewer leaves on the vine. A cold wind blew, and more leaves fell.
“There go three more,” Johnny said one morning. “When the last one falls, I will go too.”
Sue was very worried. She went downstairs to see their neighbor, Mr. Behrman. He was an old painter who lived on the ground floor. For years, he had talked about painting a masterpiece, but he had never begun it.
“Johnny is very sick,” Sue told him. “She believes she will die when the last ivy leaf falls.”
Mr. Behrman was angry. “What foolishness!” he shouted. “Such a beautiful young woman should not die because of leaves!”
That night, a terrible storm came. The wind howled, and rain beat against the windows. Sue and Johnny could not sleep. Johnny waited for the last leaf to fall.
When morning came, Johnny asked Sue to open the curtains.
Sue pulled the curtain aside. There, against the brick wall, was one last leaf on the ivy vine. It was dark green and stood strong, right at the edge of the branch.
“It’s the last one,” Johnny said. “It will fall today, and I will die.”
But the leaf did not fall. All day it stayed there, green and alive. Johnny watched it hour after hour.
In the evening, Johnny called out to Sue. “I have been a bad girl,” she said. “The leaf stayed there to show me how foolish I was. Give me some soup, and then bring me my paints. I want to paint again.”
Sue was overjoyed. She brought Johnny food and her painting supplies. The next morning, the doctor came. He said Johnny was getting better. “She will live,” he told Sue.
Then the doctor added, “Downstairs, Mr. Behrman is very sick. He was out in the storm last night, and he is dying. The nurse found him this morning in his room, with his clothes wet and his shoes covered in mud.”
That afternoon, Sue went into Johnny’s room and put her arm around her friend.
“I have something to tell you,” she said quietly. “Mr. Behrman died today. And do you know why he was out in the storm? He was painting. He painted that last leaf on the wall outside. It was his masterpiece.”
Johnny looked out the window. The last leaf was still there, green and strong. But now she understood: it was not a real leaf at all.

What will happen after you bring some beautiful flowers home? They’ll soon dry up and die. It is a sad fact. But luckily, there is a good way that can help avoid the problem. You can press them and keep them forever.
21 Anna Zakirova is always interested in doing this for a long time. The Russian artist loved nature when she was a young girl. She liked all kinds of vegetables and flowers. Seven years ago, she began growing flowers in her garden. She was interested in keeping the color and beauty of the flowers. After trying out several different ways, she found that pressing worked best.
The artist carefully presses each flower. Once the flowers are dry, she arranges them on a piece of paper. 22 The dried flowers are then put inside glass frames. They can be put up on your wall after it. Then you can enjoy the beauty of springtime all year round.
If you want to keep your favorite flowers alive, why not do it yourself? 23 It also makes you feel closer to nature. The process of making dried flowers is very relaxing. “It gives you the joy of talking with nature and creating beauty,” says Zakirova. Besides, pressing flowers is not just a way to save flowers. 24 For example, you can use pressed flowers to decorate cards, notebooks or even phone cases. It turns simple items into unique works full of natural beauty.
Some people may worry that pressing flowers is hard to do. 25 You just need a heavy book, some absorbent paper and your patience. Put the flower between two pieces of absorbent paper, place the book on top, and wait. In about a week, you’ll get a beautiful pressed flower.

decide to do sth.
根据时间状语a year ago可知,句子时态是一般过去时,主语是the path,是第三人称单数,be动词用was,否定形式是wasn’t。

For many foreigners, big cities like Beijing and Shanghai are the places to see the fast development of China. But for Ardle, a British vlogger (视频博主), the Chinese countryside is a better place to see the development of China.
Dear Mom,
I can’t wait to share my wonderful experiences in the countryside with you.
You could not go to the places easily in the past. But now it’s cheap and easy to travel and live in the countryside.
The development of the Internet is unbelievable. I needn’t worry that I can’t work or get in touch with you while traveling in the countryside.
I really hope to see you in China soon. Yours,
Ardle
Ardle, 26, has lived in north Inner Mongolia (内蒙古) for five years, teaching English in a primary school in Hohhot (呼和浩特). In his free time, he likes recording his trips to villages and he has posted more than 10 such videos online so far. He said he was greatly amazed at the big changes that had taken place in the villages over the years. In his eyes, the changes are mostly in infrastructure (基础设施), such as roads, the Internet and so on.The changes of the poor population in China since the poverty reduction
Ardle thought China’s efforts in poverty reduction (脱贫) led to the great changes in the countryside.
“I can’t think of many changes in the world that could be greater than that,” Ardle said. “But when I read the numbers, they didn’t surprise me because I thought when China decides to do something, everybody gets behind it.”

Thanks to China’s poverty reduction efforts, countryside transport becomes convenient and the Internet develops rapidly, bringing villagers a better life.

A.In fact, it’s much easier than most people think.
B.Pressing flowers is not a new method, and many people have tried it.
C.After arranging, she uses special glue to fix the flowers on the paper.
D.It also lets you create more interesting things.
E.It helps you keep your favorite flowers and calms your mind.
F.This process needs a gentle touch to keep the flower petals safe.

You could not go to the places easily in the past. But now it’s cheap and easy to travel and live in the countryside.
