My name is Alice. Early last year, I was troubled by an anxiety that crippled(削弱) my ability to do anything. I felt like a storm cloud hung over me. For almost a year I struggled on, constantly staring at this wall that faced me. My perfectionist tendencies were the main root of this: I wanted to be perfect at whatever I did, which obviously in life is not possible, but it consumed me.
One day, I attended a presentation by wildlife conservationist Grant Brown at my high school. His presentation not only awed and inspired me, but also helped emerge an inner desire to make a difference in the world. I joined a pre-presentation dinner with him and that smaller setting allowed me to slowly build up my courage to speak one-on-one with him— an idea that had seemed completely impossible. This first contact was where my story began.
A month later, Brown invited me to attend the World Youth Wildlife Conference. Looking back, I now see that this would be the first in a series of timely opportunities that my old self would have let pass, but that this new and more confident Alice enthusiastically seized. Shortly after I received his invitation, applications to join the Youth for Nature and the Youth for Planet groups were sent around through my high school. I decided to commit to completing the applications, and soon I was a part of a growing global team of young people working to protect nature. Each of these new steps continued to grow my confidence.
I am writing this just six months since my journey began and I' ve realized that my biggest obstacle(障碍) this whole time was myself. It was that voice in the back of my head telling me that one phrase that has stopped so many people from reaching their potential: I can't. They say good things come to those who wait; I say: grab every opportunity with everything you have and be impatient. After all, nature does not require our patience, but our action.
24. What was the main cause for Alice's anxiety?
A. Her inability to act her age. B. Her habit of consumption.
C. Her desire to be perfect D. Her lack of inspiration.
25. How did Grant Brown's presentation influence Alice?
A. She decided to do something for nature, 3B. She tasted the sweetness of friendship.
C. She learned about the harm of desire. D. She built up her courage to speak up.
26. The activities Alice joined in helped her to become more .
A. intelligent B. confident C. innovative D. critical
27. What can we learn from this passage?
A. Practice makes perfect. B. Patience is a cure of anxiety.
C. Action is worry's worst enemy. D. Everything comes to those who wait.

Is this text AI-generated? That question crops up a lot these days. Computer software to flag AI-generated text exists But most programs share one crucial weakness, says Jun Jang: no sense of style. His new software hopes to fill that gap.
Jun's program takes note of a writer's stylistic characteristics. It can then use those characteristics to check if another text was written by the same person. Jun says his project was motivated by seeing students admit using AI tools on classroom assignments.
But relying too much on these tools can erode someone's creativity. It can also harm their ability to week out problems themselves, Jun says. And young people are most at risk. “I figured that by me making an attempt to solve this issue, I could help millions of teachers as well as maybe help kids become more creative and spark more innovation,” Jun says.
AI use for homework is not rare. The Turnitin program is an existing tool to check who wrote a piece of text. In the first year it was available, it analyzed more than 200 million student papers. Last year, it reported evidence that some 11 in every 100 papers it reviewed had used AI for at least a fifth of their text. Three in every 100 papers used AI for four-fifths of their content.
“That's absolutely no surprise, Jun says. Some forms of generative AI are powerful, game-changing technologies. “Using AI can be good for education, obviously,” he says, “But a lot of kids don't use it properly.”
Since the release of some AI software, teachers increasingly have had to make hard calls. They must decide whether a student wrote an essay, or just asked a machine to write it. Wrongfully flagging some student's work as cheating would decrease the student's trust in their teacher.
Jun's new program hopes to limit that.
28. What does Jun's new software focus on.
A. Text length. B. Content logic.
C. Note taking. D. Writing style.
29. What does the underlined word “erode” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Cheat. B. Strengthen.
C. Damage. D. Improve.
30. What does Jun Jang say about students using AI for assignments?
A. It should be banned. B. It can be improperly used.
C. It helps solve problems. D. It promotes true innovation.
31. What does Jun's new program aim to do?
A. Increase students' writing speed.
B. Generate more essays for students.
C. Teach students to use AI properly.
D. Help teachers make right judgments.

A pioneering new study links satellite and brain imaging data to identify how environmental factors can affect mental health, cognition(认知) and brain development in young people.
The researchers used a dataset from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, the largest ongoing study on child brain development in the US. They analyzed satellite-based observations, including different types of land cover and land use and the amount of light captured by satellites at night. These data can be combined with neuroimaging(神经影像) and behavioral measures to provide insights.
The ABCD dataset provides a unique opportunity for a much deeper understanding of associations between a range of indicators of the complex physical urban environment and their impacts on mental health. This dataset also allows researchers to observe dynamic environmental changes and their impact on mental health over time, and identify specific interventions to boost mental well-being in various communities.
The study examined the use of land, considering factors such as light pollution and the number of buildings in an area, in order to understand the social and economic status of the area. The researchers found that places with more light at night and more buildings tended to have lower levels of parental education and household income, while areas with more trees and plants were linked to higher education and income.
“The findings highlight the importance of the urban environment to mental health. We see a critical window during childhood and adolescence(青春期) where environmental factors can shape future cognitive and behavioral development,” said Vince Calhoun, the study's senior author and principal investigator.
By combining satellite data and brain imaging, researchers gain a deeper understanding of how environmental factors shape the cognitive and behavioral development of young people, which is of great significance for urban planning and public health policies.
32. How was this research conducted?
A. By performing data analysis. B. By referring to previous studies.
C. By recording behavior measures. D. By carrying out national surveys.
33. Which urban change may benefit young people's mental health?
A. Building more high rises.
B. Creating more green spaces.
C. Enhancing city street lighting.
D. Promoting community development.
34. What can we learn about the study from Vince Calhoun's words in paragraph 5?
A. Its aim. B. Its significance.
C. Its future direction. D. Its practical application.
35. What does the text mainly talk about?
A. The use of satellite imaging in urban planning.
B. The benefits of reducing light pollution in cities.
C. Urban environment's influence on youth mental growth.
D. Parental education's role in children's mental well-being

When my swim practice began, I had trouble keeping track of homework and swim meets.37. On its monthly pages, I wrote down test dates, homework and swim events. Checking it each evening helped me see what was coming next. Soon, I felt more in control of my days.
My days were still full, so I made time to rest as well as to study and swim. I took a short break after practice instead of going straight to my books. The results surprised me.38. I had more energy during exam weeks too. A little rest helped me do more, not less.
39. Rather than plan every minute, I left ten minutes free between study periods and sometimes took a 45-minute break in the morning or afternoon. These gaps (间隔) gave me breathing space when homework took longer than I expected. More importantly, they made my day less stressful, reminding me that a plan should help me, not control me.
I made one more change: I stopped using the whole weekend to catch up on schoolwork.40. Even on busy weekends, I found time to talk or share a meal with them. Those moments helped me feel close to the people I loved. They also reminded me that grades and swim results were not the whole of my life.
It is not always easy to manage school, sport and rest. I hope these small changes help you find a way that works for you.

Chinese ancient civilization has continued all the way through into modern times, despite the many ups and downs in 56 (it) history. There are many reasons why this has been possible, but one of the main factors has been the Chinese writing system.

Emperor Qinshihuang unified the seven major states into one 62 (unite) country where the Chinese writing system began to develop in one direction. Today, no matter where Chinese people live or 63 dialect (方言)they speak, they can all still communicate in writing.
