第一节
A Scientist I Admire
There are many admirable people around us, but the person I admire most is Zhong Nanshan.
Zhong Nanshan, an 84-year-old hero, gave up the chance of spending the New Year with his family and rushed to the front line. He worked day and night and led us to overcome difficulties. He tried his best to save every patient and passed hopes to every Chinese.
I learned from him to be kind, brave and responsible. I will show my highest respect for him.
A Teacher I Admire
The teacher I admire most is my headteacher, who devotes almost all her spare time to us students.
Not only does she focus on our academic progress, but she also cares about our mental health. Whenever I feel upset or confused, she will spare time to communicate with me patiently.
It is her selfless love and encouragement that inspire me to keep moving forward. I respect her from the bottom of my heart.
A Person I Admire
The person I admire most is an ordinary street cleaner in my community.
Every early morning, before most people wake up, he starts to clean our streets. No matter it is cold winter or hot summer, he sticks to his work silently. He never complains and tries his best to keep our environment tidy.
Though he is just a common person, his sense of responsibility moves me deeply. I learn that value lies in every ordinary hard-working person.
第二节 读后续写(25 分)
This summer, the other teams enjoyed their vacations. We met every day and practiced passing and kicking the football. At first, some complained that even the hardest practice couldn't change the fact that they were the last. The whole team was covered by the sense of depression and failure. What I could do at that time was to accompany them and try to cheer them up. Encouraged by my persistence, the team gathered the spirit of trying again and practiced even harder. This time, we sweated out in the fields instead of being the audience, watching and cheering. Every inch of the field saw the effort of my team.
Six months later, football season started. After suffering our failure on the spring practice field, we won our first game and our second, and continued to improve. Finally, we faced the number one team in the state. I felt that it would be a victory for us even if we lost the game. But that wasn't what happened. My boys beat the best team in Georgia, giving me one of the greatest thrills of my life! From the game I learned a lot about how the attitude of the leader can influence the members of a team. Instead of seeing my boys as losers, I pushed and encouraged them. I helped them to see themselves differently, and they built themselves into winners. Winners are made, not born.

W: Which musical style do you like?
M: I like the blues, but I don’t like rock music.1
Text 2
W: It’s 7:30. Time to wake up! The meeting starts at 9:00.
M: Give me another half an hour to sleep. It only takes me 5 minutes to get ready.2
Text 3
M: Good morning, I bought the sweater yesterday. But it doesn’t fit.
W: Oh, I know. Do you want to change it for another size?
M: No. I found the sweater was faulty. So can I get my money back?3
Text 4
W: What’s wrong with the machine?
M: It looks like it is out of paper.4
W: Let me check. You’re right. Could you go and get some for me?
M: OK, but where is the paper?
Text 5
W: Are there any children in the classroom?
M: Yes, seven are reading at their desks and five are playing on the floor.5
Text 6
W: The weather forecast says tomorrow will still be foggy.6
M: What bad news! We haven’t seen the sun for a long time.
W: Yes. I have to wear a mask every day. Our city has been polluted seriously.7
M: That’s true. I think our government should take action to solve the problem like cutting down the number of vehicles.
Text 7
M: Wow, that was some journey.8
W: Yeah, I thought we’d never get here. All those delays.
M: Well, it’s nice to be back. Travelling is great, but I’m glad that I’ll be back surrounded by all the familiar things.
W: Well, it’s not quite as comfortable as the room we’ve been in for the past fortnight.
M: No, and all that time not having to cook our own meals was great.
W: Yes, well, it’s over now, back to reality. Come on, let’s get the bags sorted out.9
Text 8

W: Oh, I see. Is it a very big town?
M: Not really. It has a population of about 20,000.
W: It’s a very old town, right?10 I heard that it has a lot of old buildings.
M: Yes, it is. Many of the buildings were built in the 18th century.
W: Really? It must be quite an interesting place then.
M: Yes, it is. We get lots of tourists. In fact, tourism is our main industry.11
W: Well, what do the tourists do there?
M: Oh, they can walk through the town and enjoy the buildings. There aren’t any museums. But there are a few lovely mountains near the town.12 They are very good for hiking.
Text 9
W: Where’s my burger? The app says delivered, but my stomach says liar.13 I’ve been staring at the door like a dog waiting for a treat.
M: Chill. It’s probably stuck in the lift again14, the lift thinks it’s a fridge. It is slower than a snail on a rainy day, especially around dinner time.
W: That lift eats more food than I do. It should pay rent.
M: Remember last week when the pizza rode up and down like a VIP with a free ticket.
W: Yes, extra tour. Cold cheese, no tip!
M: I’ll call the rider.15 He is probably chatting with the guard about the weather.
W: Tell him I’m hungry enough to eat my own shoe, socks included.
M: He’s on his way. He says he took a selfie with the doorbell and smiled wide.
W: Great. My dinner’s now insta‑famous, and I bet it is proud of itself.
M: And let’s be real. Next time we tip extra and beg for rocket delivery so they run up the stairs instead.16 No more lift chaos.
Text 10

After supper you’ll be on the Bund. You can walk slowly to look at the old and new buildings on the two sides. The next day, you’ll take a sightseeing bus to Zhujiajiao Water Town.19 Zhujiajiao Water Town is the nearest water town to Shanghai and it takes about 40 minutes to get there. Ernst Mach was a weak child, born in Moravia(now Czechia)in 1838.He didn't even go to school until
the age of 14.Instead,his parents educated him at home.Like many genius children, his teachers criticized
him, calling him "unteachable, absolutely talentless."Yet young Mach excelled at university in Vienna. He
studied mathematics, physics and philosophy. He was also boundlessly curious. He conducted all kinds of
experiments, believing that theories must be tried, tested, and proven in facts, but first formulated in the mind.
He brought this rigorous()approach to his studies, believing that true science is based on what
actually happens and can be observed.
In addition to his work in the sciences,Mach was also a well-rounded student, with interests in
philosophy and even sports. He was an excellent boxer and fencer(),which reflected the wide range
英语试题第3页(共10页)
of his abilities and interests.
As a teacher,Mach was serious and demanding. That was the model of pedagogy()of his time,
and Mach followed this standard:tight collar,buttoned-down tie, waistcoat and jacket, and serious eyes
behind wire-framed glasses. He expected exactness from his students.Among those he influenced was
the young Albert Einstein.Mach's insistence on clarity and rigorous testing of ideas helped shape
Einstein's thinking.Though Mach was doubtful about some of Einstein's later conclusions, such as
E-mc2,his doubt drove Einstein to prove his ideas further. He pushed the young Einstein to achieve
excellence.
While Mach is credited with many theories of his own, including the aircraft velocity()
measurement that bears his name,"Mach 1.Mach 2,etc.",his mentorship of Einstein is perhaps his
greatest achievement. The best teachers in our lives also challenge us and see us as not yet complete but
full of potential. They shine a light on the path that gets us to a successful reality. And through us,they
live on.
24.What can we know about Ernst Mach from paragraph 1?
A.He attended university at the age of 14.
B.He was considered a genius by his teachers.
C.His early education was shaped by his parents
D.His physical disability discouraged his studying.

26.Which can best describe Ernst Mach?
A.Cautious and ambitious.
B.Professional and influential.
C.Diligent and dependent.
D.Incredible and accessible.
27.In which column of a magazine can we probably read this text?

People today are much cleverer than they were in previous generations.A study of 72 countries found
that average IQs rose by 2.2 points per decade between 1948 and 2020.This stunning change is known as the
Flynn Effect after James Flynn, the scientist who first noticed it.Flynn was initially confused by his
discovery. It took millions of years for the brain to evolve. How could it improve so rapidly over just a few
英语试题第5页(共10页)
decades?
The answer is largely that people were becoming better nourished and mentally stimulated.Just as
muscles need food and exercise to grow strong, the brain also needs the night nutrients and activity to
develop.Kids today are much less likely to be malnourished(营养不良的)than they were in past
decades, and more likely to go to school.Yet there is no room for satisfaction. In poor and middle-
income countries, many children are still too ill-fed to reach the cognitive potential
The world grows enough food, but several obstacles stop nutrients getting into young brains. One is
war:Families sheltering around cannot risk out to plant or harvest, and some governments intentionally
starve certain regions into submission().Another is disease.Hungry children fall sick more often,
and the energy they spend battling bugs cannot be devoted to growing brains.Poverty is also a big part
of the problem. But global data from UNICEF,an aid agency, show that although half the children with
very restricted diets (including no more than two food groups)are indeed from poor families, the other
half are not.Other factors, such as poor eating habits, are to blame as well.Research about how to
overcome the obstacles is needed.
Some argue that human intelligence will matter less as people entrust(f)their thinking to
artificial intelligence. To assume this would be as foolish as betting 100 years ago that the invention of
the car would make it unnecessary to walk.In the workplace, human intelligence and AI will probably
assist each other. And brains are for the joy of thinking,as well as earning money.Steven Pinker of
Harvard University calls human intelligence"a tailwind in life",helping people adapt rationally to new
challenges or a changing environment. For a modest price, the next generation can have a stronger
tailwind. It would not only be wrong to refuse them the tailwind. It would be stupid.
32.What can we learn about the Flynn Effect?
A.Better education leads to improved physical health.
B.Intelligence has been stable across generations.
C.People now are as intelligent as their ancestors.
D.Average IQs have risen fast in the past decades.
33.What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 2 mean?

B.Global problems continue despite IQ gains.

第二节(共5小题,每小题2.5分,共12.5分)
Many of us face a tricky trap on social media:either chase endless likes with constant posting or escape
by ignoring it all.We stress over this forced choiceapproval or isolation-as if they can't mix.36
Here are three practical ways to find balance in the digital world.
Focus on genuine connections.
Likes and comments bring short-term excitement, but they fade fast.True connections matter more.
When you share real stories or chat deeply with others, you feel warm inside.37 So pick activities
that make you feel truly good, like talking about hobbies or helping fiends onlineno need to care about
likes!
38
Peace on social media starts with how you see it.Mindful browsing (means noticing nice things-
an inspiring post,a friend's good news-without comparing yourself. The colors of a photo or a kind word
can make you smile. You don't need big tricks.39 Then you'll enjoy both:staying connected and
feeling peaceful.
Celebrate small digital joys.
Every little win online-sharing a useful tip, getting a sweet reply-deserves cheers. If you only wait for
lots of followers, you'll miss daily fun.Minor accomplishments in the digital world lift your mood. For
example, celebrate finishing a post you care about, not just hitting a follower goal.Treat yourself to a snack
after a nice chat.40
A.Try browsing with intention.
B.Chasing likes will make you tired
C.These turn online time into a joyful journey.
D.Just fix your attention on the little joys online.
E.In fact, mixing work and rest online helps you stay balanced
F.But our time online doesn't have to be stuck in this dilemma.
G.That cozy feeling from within doesn't depend on likes or comments.

No one is born a winner.People make themselves into winners by their own efforts.I leamed this lesson
from an experience many years ago.I took the head coaching job at a school in Baxley,Georgia. It was a
small school with a weak football program. The school took part in the league matches every year. However,
it never ended well.We were more of the audience, watching and cheering instead of sweating out in the
fields

the end of spring practice. For lack of resources, the old team had no coach, and they didn't even practice
to prepare for the game.
I was assigned as the coach of the new team, which was why I was excited.I believed that
we were going to win,but to my disappointment,we were defeated.I couldn't believe I had got into such
a situation.Thinking hard about it,I tried to figure out the reason and what I should do next.
It didn't take long before I came to realize that my team was depending on me.Without proper
guidance or previous experience,my team was at a loss what to do.I had to change my attitude so that I
could bring out the best in them about their ability and potential.
I would let my action do the talking.First,I started doing anything I could to help them build a little
pride.I could see their spirits lifted, with their head held high in great confidence. Most importantly,I
began to treat them like winners.Only when they regarded themselves as winners could they willingly
invest time and energy.
This summer, the other teams enjoyed their vacations.
Six months later,football season started.

第四部分写作
第一节
A Scientist I Admire
There are many admirable people around us,but the person I admire most is Zhong Nanshan.
Zhong Nanshan,an 84-year-old hero, gave up the chance of spending the New Year with his
family and rushed to the front line.He worked day and night and led us to overcome difficulties. He
tried his best to save every patient and passed hopes to every Chinese.
I learned from him to be kind, brave and responsible.I will show my highest respect for him.
A Teacher I Admire
The teacher I admire most is my headteacher, who devotes almost all her spare time to us
students.
Not only does she focus on our academic progress, but she also cares about our mental health.
Whenever I feel upset or confused, she will spare time to communicate with me patiently.
It is her selfless love and encouragement that inspire me to keep moving forward.I respect her
from the bottom of my heart.
A Person I Admire
The person I admire most is an ordinary street cleaner in my community.
Every early morning, before most people wake up,he starts to clean our streets. No matter it is
cold winter or hot summer,he sticks to his work silently. He never complains and tries his best to
keep our environment tidy.
Though he is just a common person, his sense of responsibility moves me deeply.I leamn that
value lies in every ordinary hard-working person.
第二节读后续写(25分)
This summer, the other teams enjoyed their vacations. We met every day and practiced passing
and kicking the football. At first, some complained that even the hardest practice couldn't change
the fact that they were the last. The whole team was covered by the sense of depression and failure.
What I could do at that time was to accompany them and try to cheer them up.Encouraged by my
persistence, the team gathered the spirit of trying again and practiced even harder. This time,we
sweated out in the fields instead of being the audience, watching and cheering.Every inch of the
field saw the effort of my team.
Six months later, football season started. After suffering our failure on the spring practice field,
we won our first game and our second, and continued to improve. Finally,we faced the number one
team in the state.I felt that it would be a victory for us even if we lost the game. But that wasn't
what happened. My boys beat the best team in Georgia, giving me one of the greatest thrills of my
life! From the game I learned a lot about how the attitude of the leader can influence the members
of a team.Instead of seeing my boys as losers,I pushed and encouraged them.I helped them to see
themselves differently, and they built themselves into winners.Winners are made, not born.

As one of the world’s most ancient civilizations, China offers wonderful opportunities to explore wonderful relics from its rich past. Here is our pick of the best places to visit in China.
A. Tiger Leaping Gorge — Best landscape to hike
One of China’s most famous hiking places, this 22km trail winds through a World Heritage-listed gorge in Yunnan that is one of Asia’s most striking landscapes. Framed by spectacular snow-capped mountains and the scenic Jinshajiang River, it is in depths of 3900m, making it one of the deepest gorges in the world.
B. Zhangjiajie — Best dramatic landscapes
Rising dramatically from the subtropical forests of northwest Hunan, the peak rock formations of Zhangjiajie inspired the scenery in the film Avatar (2009). Take it all in as you walk over a glass-bottom suspension bridge floating 300m above ground. And if that’s not daring enough, you can bungee jump off it too!
C. Shanghai —
Elegant, historic and cosmopolitan — everything you’ve heard about Shanghai is true. Just take a walk through the French Concession or along the Bund and you’ll see for yourself. From the grand display of 1920s architecture and the city’s sophisticated restaurants, Shanghai is past and future China brought to life.
D. Mogao Grottoes, Dunhuang — Best Buddhist art
Sitting along the ancient Silk Road, Dunhuang is home to one of the world’s most important collections of Buddhist art. Among more than 490 Buddhist caves in the area, the mural (壁画) and statue-filled Mogao Grottoes represent perhaps the top of Buddhist artistry in China.

Ernst Mach was a weak child, born in Moravia(now Czechia) in 1838. He didn’t even go to school until the age of 14. Instead, his parents educated him at home. Like many genius children, his teachers criticized him, calling him “unteachable, absolutely talentless.” Yet young Mach excelled at university in Vienna. He studied mathematics, physics and philosophy. He was also boundlessly curious. He conducted all kinds of experiments, believing that theories must be tried, tested, and proven in facts, but first formulated in the mind. He brought this rigorous(严密的) approach to his studies, believing that true science is based on what actually happens and can be observed.
In addition to his work in the sciences, Mach was also a well-rounded student, with interests in philosophy and even sports. He was an excellent boxer and fencer(击剑手), which reflected the wide range of his abilities and interests.
As a teacher, Mach was serious and demanding. That was the model of pedagogy(教学) of his time, and Mach followed this standard: tight collar, buttoned-down tie, waistcoat and jacket, and serious eyes behind wire-framed glasses. He expected exactness from his students. Among those he influenced was the young Albert Einstein. Mach’s insistence on clarity and rigorous testing of ideas helped shape Einstein’s thinking. Though Mach was doubtful about some of Einstein’s later conclusions, such as E=mc2, his doubt drove Einstein to prove his ideas further. He pushed the young Einstein to achieve excellence.
While Mach is credited with many theories of his own, including the aircraft velocity(速度) measurement that bears his name, “Mach 1. Mach 2, etc.”, his mentorship of Einstein is perhaps his greatest achievement. The best teachers in our lives also challenge us and see us as not yet complete but full of potential. They shine a light on the path that gets us to a successful reality. And through us, they live on.
24. What can we know about Ernst Mach from paragraph 1?
A. He attended university at the age of 14.
B. He was considered a genius by his teachers.
C. His early education was shaped by his parents.
D. His physical disability discouraged his studying.
25. How did Ernst Mach impact Albert Einstein?
A. He forced Einstein to give in.
B. He challenged Einstein to excel.
C. He introduced new theories to Einstein.
D. He inspired Einstein to focus on physics.
26. Which can best describe Ernst Mach?
A. Cautious and ambitious. B. Professional and influential.
C. Diligent and dependent. D. Incredible and accessible.
27. In which column of a magazine can we probably read this text?
A. Sports. B. Travel. C. Fashion. D. Education.

People today are much cleverer than they were in previous generations. A study of 72 countries found that average IQs rose by 2.2 points per decade between 1948 and 2020. This stunning change is known as the Flynn Effect after James Flynn, the scientist who first noticed it. Flynn was initially confused by his discovery. It took millions of years for the brain to evolve. How could it improve so rapidly over just a few decades?
The answer is largely that people were becoming better nourished and mentally stimulated. Just as muscles need food and exercise to grow strong, the brain also needs the right nutrients and activity to develop. Kids today are much less likely to be malnourished(营养不良的) than they were in past decades, and more likely to go to school. Yet there is no room for satisfaction. In poor and middle-income countries, many children are still too ill-fed to reach the cognitive potential.
The world grows enough food, but several obstacles stop nutrients getting into young brains. One is war: Families sheltering around cannot risk out to plant or harvest, and some governments intentionally starve certain regions into submission(屈服). Another is disease. Hungry children fall sick more often, and the energy they spend battling bugs cannot be devoted to growing brains. Poverty is also a big part of the problem. But global data from UNICEF, an aid agency, show that although half the children with very restricted diets (including no more than two food groups) are indeed from poor families, the other half are not. Other factors, such as poor eating habits, are to blame as well. Research about how to overcome the obstacles is needed.
Some argue that human intelligence will matter less as people entrust(委托) their thinking to artificial intelligence. To assume this would be as foolish as betting 100 years ago that the invention of the car would make it unnecessary to walk. In the workplace, human intelligence and AI will probably assist each other. And brains are for the joy of thinking, as well as earning money. Steven Pinker of Harvard University calls human intelligence “a tailwind in life”, helping people adapt rationally to new challenges or a changing environment. For a modest price, the next generation can have a stronger tailwind. It would not only be wrong to refuse them the tailwind. It would be stupid.
32. What can we learn about the Flynn Effect?
A. Better education leads to improved physical health.
B. Intelligence has been stable across generations.
C. People now are as intelligent as their ancestors.
D. Average IQs have risen fast in the past decades.
33. What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 2 mean?
A. The Flynn Effect has reached its peak.
B. Global problems continue despite IQ gains.
C. Malnutrition is merely a result of poverty.
D. Society values human intelligence less.
34. What does the author think of artificial intelligence?
A. Useless. B. Unique. C. Beneficial. D. Ineffective.
35. What is the best title for the passage?
A. Stages of IQ Development B. Insights Into Global IQ Trend
C. Secrets to Rising IQs Worldwide D. Influence of the Flynn Effect
第二节(共5小题,每小题2.5分,共12.5分)
Many of us face a tricky trap on social media: either chase endless likes with constant posting or escape by ignoring it all. We stress over this forced choice—approval or isolation—as if they can’t mix. 36 Here are three practical ways to find balance in the digital world.
Focus on genuine connections.
Likes and comments bring short-term excitement, but they fade fast. True connections matter more. When you share real stories or chat deeply with others, you feel warm inside. 37 So pick activities that make you feel truly good, like talking about hobbies or helping friends online—no need to care about likes!
38
Peace on social media starts with how you see it. Mindful browsing (浏览) means noticing nice things—an inspiring post, a friend’s good news—without comparing yourself. The colors of a photo or a kind word can make you smile. You don’t need big tricks. 39 Then you’ll enjoy both: staying connected and feeling peaceful.
Celebrate small digital joys.
Every little win online—sharing a useful tip, getting a sweet reply—deserves cheers. If you only wait for lots of followers, you’ll miss daily fun. Minor accomplishments in the digital world lift your mood. For example, celebrate finishing a post you care about, not just hitting a follower goal. Treat yourself to a snack after a nice chat. 40
A. Try browsing with intention.
B. Chasing likes will make you tired.
C. These turn online time into a joyful journey.
D. Just fix your attention on the little joys online.
E. In fact, mixing work and rest online helps you stay balanced.
F. But our time online doesn’t have to be stuck in this dilemma.
G. That cozy feeling from within doesn’t depend on likes or comments.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
No one is born a winner. People make themselves into winners by their own efforts. I learned this lesson from an experience many years ago. I took the head coaching job at a school in Baxley, Georgia. It was a small school with a weak football program. The school took part in the league matches every year. However, it never ended well. We were more of the audience, watching and cheering instead of sweating out in the fields.
Fortunately, the school held the tradition that the school’s old team was to play against the new team at the end of spring practice. For lack of resources, the old team had no coach, and they didn’t even practice to prepare for the game.
I was assigned (指派) as the coach of the new team, which was why I was excited. I believed that we were going to win, but to my disappointment, we were defeated. I couldn’t believe I had got into such a situation. Thinking hard about it, I tried to figure out the reason and what I should do next.
It didn’t take long before I came to realize that my team was depending on me. Without proper guidance or previous experience, my team was at a loss what to do. I had to change my attitude so that I could bring out the best in them about their ability and potential.
I would let my action do the talking. First, I started doing anything I could to help them build a little pride. I could see their spirits lifted, with their head held high in great confidence. Most importantly, I began to treat them like winners. Only when they regarded themselves as winners could they willingly invest time and energy.
This summer, the other teams enjoyed their vacations. ____________________________________
