话题1 模范青少年(共5篇)
Passage 1
At Dazhao Middle School there is a group called Youth Hands. It was started three years ago by seven Grade Eight students, and today it has more than eighty members.
Every Saturday morning the members walk to the village near the school. They teach children there to cut red paper, to make simple puppets out of old boxes, and to sing folk songs which old people in the village still remember.
The group also collects old stories. Last year its members wrote down sixty-two stories from people over seventy years old, and turned twelve of them into short puppet shows.
Nobody pays the members, and nobody forces them to come. “I come because the children wait for me”, said a Grade Nine girl. If I do not come, nobody will tell them these stories.
The school gives the group a small room and two old tables. The head teacher says the group has changed the school more than any lesson: students who once thought traditional art was old-fashioned now spend their weekends keeping it alive.
1.When was Youth Hands started?
2.Where do the members go every Saturday morning?
3.What did the members do with the old stories last year?
4.Why does the Grade Nine girl keep coming?
5.What does the head teacher think of the group?
Passage 2
Hu Dongping is a middle school student. He was named “Outstanding Teenager of the New Era (新时代好少年)” in 2025. At only 14, he has got 46 national (国家的)awards and 105 city-level or above awards. He does well in study, science competitions and public work. His great dream is to protect our country with robots.
Hu’s dream comes from his father. Knowing the danger of risky tasks, he wants to let robots do the dangerous work instead of soldiers.
He started learning about robots and programming (编程) at 5. At 9, he made his first invention “Xiaobei”, a small robot to keep students safe on the road. Hu Dongping thinks that new ideas are useless if they are not for real life. He believes creativity is not a sudden thought, but comes from hard study and continuous (持续的) practice.
He loves reading books about news, history and science. He once talked with a university teacher about military knowledge (军事知识)and forgot the time. The teacher was surprised and asked his parents to support his interest.
Hu also draws pictures for his design directly with a black pen instead of a pencil. His papers are always clean, showing his good habits and careful work.
Hu Dongping sets a good example for us. With love and hard work, we can make our dreams come true and help our country.
1.How many national awards did Hu Dongping receive?
2.Why did Hu Dongping invent “Xiaobei”?
3.What kind of books does Hu Dongping prefer?
4.What does Hu Dongping use to draw pictures for his design, a pen or a pencil?
5.How can we realise our dreams and help our country?
Passage 3
Jia Mingxuan is a 14-year-old student from Aohan Banner, Inner Mongolia. He won the world’s gold medal for kids at the 77th iENA in Germany in November 2025. His prize-winning invention is a “self-help tree-watering tool for dry areas”. His invention greatly helps water trees in dry and sandy areas like his hometown, the Horqin Sandy Land.
Jia got the idea from his mother’s cooking—water vapor (水汽) becomes small drops on the pot cover and falls down, and his physics lessons. His tool has a wind cover on a metal tube (金属管) to move air inside and needs no outside water. Different temperatures above and under the ground turn air’s water vapor into small drops that seep (渗出) slowly to tree roots. In this way, water can be greatly saved in dry areas. Besides, trees help protect the land.
Jia made the tool with simple things: Metal tubes and plastic bottles. It is cheap and good for the environment. Now it is more widely used in local tree-planting projects to stop desert expansion (扩张) in China. Jia hopes his invention will help protect the environment and encourage more young people to solve problems with new ideas.
1.What problem did Jia Mingxuan’s invention solve?
2.Where did Jia get the idea for his self-help tree-watering tool?
3.Why doesn’t Jia’s invention need outside water to water tree roots?
4.What simple things did Jia use to make the invention?
5.What is Jia Mingxuan’s hope for his invention and other young people?
Passage 4
What makes an excellent teenager? Our school magazine made a survey among students. Li Hua, a Grade Eight student in our school, is a good example. Here are two stories about him.
Every Saturday morning, Li Hua works as a volunteer in a community culture centre. He helps teach little kids to do paper‑cutting. He has kept up the volunteer work for more than two years. “It’s our duty to pass on our folk arts to kids,” Li Hua says.
Besides volunteer work, Li Hua enjoys thinking of new creative ways for cultural activities. Last term, he found most students knew little about local operas. So he created a short cartoon to introduce local opera to students. Thanks to this cartoon, more students became interested in this old art. He got the first prize in the school culture competition for this cartoon.
Li Hua’s experience tells us what a good teenager should be. He encourages young people to take action for our traditional culture.
1.Where does Li Hua work as a volunteer every Saturday morning?
2.How long has Li Hua kept his volunteer work?
3.Who does Li Hua help teach paper‑cutting to?
4.What did Li Hua create to introduce local opera to students?
5.What quality do you think is the most important for teenagers? Why?
Passage 5
A group of teenagers in Jiangsu recently did something amazing. They spent their summer vacation learning an old skill—making paper by hand.
The teenagers came from a local school. They joined a special program at a traditional paper-making village in Fuyang, Zhejiang. The program was part of an effort to keep this ancient craft alive.
For two weeks, the young people worked with master paper-makers. They learned every step of the process. They collected plant materials, soaked them in water, beat them into pulp, and finally made sheets of paper.
“It was much harder than I expected,” said 15-year-old Wang Lin. “My arms hurt after beating the pulp for hours. But when I saw the paper I made with my own hands, I felt so proud.”
The master paper-makers were impressed by the teenagers’ attitude. “They were not afraid to get their hands dirty,” said Mr. Chen, a 68-year-old craftsman. “They asked many questions and really wanted to learn.”
At the end of the program, the teenagers held an exhibition. They showed their handmade paper to the public and explained the process. Many visitors were surprised that young people were interested in such an old craft.
“I used to think traditional crafts were boring,” said another student, Li Ming. “But now I understand their value. They are part of our culture. We should not let them disappear.”
1.What did the teenagers learn during their summer vacation?
2.How long did the program last?
3.What did Wang Lin say about making paper?
4.What did the teenagers do at the end of the program?
5.How did Li Ming’s opinion about traditional crafts change?

Passage 1
A special story has become popular recently. A 12-year-old girl from Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province, used her savings over 12 years to open a stationery (文具) shop near her school. What surprises people the most is that her first employee (雇员) is her mother, and she pays her mother 3,000 yuan every month.
The money comes from her lucky money and pocket money. For many years, she tried hard to budget her money. Unlike other students, she didn’t spend money on new toys or fashionable stationery. Instead, she saved it little by little.
She didn’t come up with the idea of opening a stationery shop suddenly. She found that many students needed stationery, so she studied the market carefully. She found out what sold well, learned about costs and suppliers (供应商), and made sure she had enough money. She did everything by herself without asking her parents for help.
When she is at school, her mother works in the shop. During weekends and holidays, she works in the shop by herself. They have clear rules: the girl makes decisions, and the mother follows her ideas.
This story tells us a good lesson about education. Many parents only care about their children’s grades, but pay no attention to other important skills. However, this girl’s parents choose to trust her and let her try. Running the shop teaches her to manage money, make plans and take responsibility.
True education is not about giving children everything, but about helping them become independent. This brave girl sets a great example for all of us.
1.Where is the girl’s stationery shop?
2.How much does the girl pay her mother every month?
3.Why did the girl study the stationery market carefully?
4.When does the girl work in the shop?
5.What does the story tell us about true education?
Passage 2
Last month our school set up a Reuse Team. Its members are students from Grades 8 and 9. The team collects old textbooks and notebooks, cleans them, and gives them to younger students for free. Before the team started, the school spent more than 3,000 yuan on new exercise books every term. Now the number is less than 800.
Mia, one of the members, says the work has changed her ideas about money. She used to buy new pens every month. As soon as she joined the team, she began to repair old pens instead of throwing them away. Her deskmate Hao Yu records every yuan the team spends, because a clear record shows exactly where the money goes.
The team also plans a fair once a term. While the fair is being prepared, members compare the prices of the same item in three shops. They found that a cheap notebook could cost twice as much as a dear one if it broke in a week.
The head teacher says the team teaches a lesson that no textbook can: money saved today is a choice made for tomorrow.
1.Who can join the Reuse Team?
2.How much did the school spend on new exercise books before the team started?
3.What did Mia do after she joined the team?
4.Why does Hao Yu record every yuan the team spends?
5.What lesson does the head teacher say the team teaches?
Passage 3
How much pocket money do you get from your parents every month? What do you often do with your money?
We asked three British middle school students for their opinions on pocket money.
Ruth Sawyers:
I get 5 pounds every week from my parents. I usually save 1.5 pounds and spend the rest.
The two things I like to buy with my pocket money are storybooks and Lego bricks (积木). I don’t really think about getting more pocket money. I don’t talk about pocket money with my friends at school. If some parents give too much, other children might get jealous (嫉妒). It’s important not to show off what you’ve got.
Maya Varsani:
I get 6 pounds from my mum and 8 pounds from my dad every month. I save the money and buy presents for my family. Last year, I bought my mum a gift for Mother’s Day, which cost 9.5 pounds.
Jimmy Segalow:
My mum gives me 10 pounds a week. She says I can spend it in the school dining hall or she will make me a packed lunch, and then I can spend the 10 pounds on whatever I want.
I like Nike trainers. If they cost 50 pounds and I only have 40, my mum might give me an extra (额外的) 10 pounds, but I have to do some housework instead.
I know that some parents can’t afford to give much pocket money. So I try not to talk about it at school.
1.How much pocket money does Ruth Sawyers spend every week?
2.What does Maya Varsani usually do with her pocket money?
3.When did Maya Varsani buy her mother a gift?
4.How can Jimmy Segalow get extra money from his mum?
5.What do Segalow and Sawyers have in common?
Passage 4
Learning to manage money is a crucial skill for teenagers. It not only helps us develop good financial habits but also prepares us for adult life. First, we should make a clear budget: write down all our income and every expense, so we can track where our money goes. Second, we should form a saving habit—even a small amount saved every month will add up over time. Third, we should avoid impulsive buying, especially for unnecessary items like expensive toys or junk food. Fourth, we can try part-time jobs to earn extra money, which teaches us both responsibility and the value of hard work. Finally, we can learn from our parents or teachers, who have more experience in managing money.
1.Why is learning to manage money important for teenagers? (no more than 16 words)
2.What is the first step to manage money well? (no more than 7 words)
3.What should we avoid doing when managing money? (no more than 2 words)
4.What can we do to earn extra money? (no more than 9 words)
5.Who can we learn from about money management? (no more than 4 words)
Passage 5
Many teenagers get pocket money from their parents. Li Wei is a Grade Nine student. Every month his parents give him 200‑yuan pocket money. In the past, Li Wei spent almost all of it on online games and snacks. He never saved any money.
Last term, his teacher gave a speech about money management. Li Wei learned a lot from it. He made a simple plan. Every time he gets pocket money, he puts half of it into his moneybox for savings. The rest can be used for daily needs. Sometimes he also uses some of his savings to buy books for poor children in mountain villages.
Li Wei says money is useful, but it cannot buy true happiness. The most important thing is to use money in a right way. His changes also influence his classmates. More students start to learn to manage their own pocket money.
1.How much pocket money does Li Wei get every month?
2.What did Li Wei spend almost all his pocket money on in the past?
3.How did Li Wei learn money management knowledge?
4.What does Li Wei do with half of his pocket money now?
5.What’s your opinion about teenagers’ pocket money management? Why?
话题3 历史和考古(共5篇)
Passage 1
Last month our school opened its Old School Room. The room keeps the old desks, the first school bell and more than two hundred photos of the students from 1950 to 2000. Before it opened, those things were kept in a small store room and almost nobody saw them.
Miss Wang, the teacher in charge, spent two holidays arranging them. She asked old students to write down what they remembered. As soon as one of them came back to visit, she recorded his or her story on a small recorder.
While the room was being prepared, some students said it was not useful because it took both money and time. Miss Wang answered that a school is not only a place to learn maths and English, but also a place to remember who we are.
The room is open every Friday afternoon. Since it opened, more than 500 students and 30 parents have visited it. Many of them said they wanted to write their own stories down before they left school.
1.What is kept in the Old School Room?
2.What did Miss Wang do with the old students’ stories?
3.Why did some students think the room was not useful?
4.What did Miss Wang say a school is also a place for?
5.How many people have visited the room since it opened?
Passage 2
Have you seen the clay soldiers (黏土士兵) in Xi’an’s Terracotta (兵马俑) Army Museum? Do you know the true colours of them?
More than 2,000 years ago, Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, ordered people to build the Terracotta Army. He hoped that the army would protect him after he died.
In 1974, some farmers found several clay soldiers by accident in Xi’an. After that, about 8,000 more were found by archaeologists. Today, the clay soldiers in Xi’an’s terracotta museum are light brown. But they weren’t always this colour. When they were made, they had colours like white, green, blue, red, purple and yellow. Sadly, most of the colours have disappeared now.
An area with more than a hundred clay soldiers was discovered by archaeologists a few years ago. Many of them still had black hair, pink faces and black or brown eyes when they were found. If they were not protected well, their colours would disappear, too. After a clay soldier was found, archaeologists used two steps to keep its colour. First, they sprayed (喷) a kind of special “water” on it. Then, they covered it with plastic.
Archaeologists are facing a new challenge now. They are going to find a way to put the colours onto the clay soldiers. If they succeed in doing it, people will be able to see what the clay soldiers originally (最初) looked like. It must be very amazing.
1.Why did Qin Shi Huang order people to build the Terracotta Army?
2.When and where were the clay soldiers first found?
3.What colours did the clay soldiers have when they were first made?
4.How many steps did archaeologists take to protect the colours of the clay soldiers?
5.What is the new challenge for archaeologists now?
Passage 3
Do you like visiting ancient towns? Wang Wei, a Grade Nine student, shows great love for old history. Every Sunday afternoon, Wang Wei works as a volunteer guide in an ancient town museum. He introduces old stories and local history to visitors. He has kept this volunteer job for over one and a half years.
Wang Wei thinks it is meaningful to pass on local history. Last term, he found many of his classmates knew little about our city’s past. So he created short story notes about ancient life and shared them with his classmates. Thanks to his notes, more students became interested in local history. He won second prize in the school history competition for his work.
Wang Wei tells us teenagers should spend more time learning about our past. He encourages other young people to take action to remember our history.
1.Where does Wang Wei work as a volunteer every Sunday afternoon?
2.How long has Wang Wei kept his volunteer work?
3.What does Wang Wei do for visitors in the museum?
4.What did Wang Wei create and share with his classmates?
5.What quality do you think is the most important for teenagers? Why?
Passage 4
In August 2026, a new exhibition opened at the Yinxu Museum in Anyang, Henan. The exhibition featured more than 100 newly discovered oracle bones, some of which dated back to the Shang Dynasty.
The oracle bones were discovered during recent excavations at the Yinxu site, the capital of the late Shang Dynasty. Among the most exciting finds was a piece of turtle shell with 45 clearly carved characters. The characters recorded the weather, farming activities, and royal ceremonies.
“The new discoveries are extremely valuable,” said Professor Chen, a leading expert on oracle bones. “They provide us with new information about the society, religion, and daily life of the Shang Dynasty.”
The Yinxu site was first discovered in 1899. Since then, more than 150,000 pieces of oracle bones have been found. These bones contain the earliest known Chinese writing system and are considered one of the most important archaeological finds in China.
The exhibition has attracted large numbers of visitors. Many young people were among them. “I never knew the writing system was so old,” said one young visitor. “Seeing these bones made me proud of our history.”
“We still have much to discover,” Professor Chen added. “Every new piece of oracle bone brings us one step closer to understanding the Shang Dynasty.”

As a result, many people are doing their best to protect Chinese cultural sites and trying to make more people know about them.
Xu Danyang, an archaeologist, found an amazing bronze statue (青铜像) at the Sanxingdui site in Sichuan. In 2020, he dug out this statue. At first, his team thought it was a bird. But as they continued the digging, they had a surprise. It turned out to be a statue of a man, about 16 cm high. It showed a man kneeling (跪) with his head turned, and it surprised everyone who saw it.

中国的研究人员利用现代技术,基于在河南仰韶村遗址发现的头骨,成功还原了新石器时代两名男性的面部肖像
【新素材·隔着5600年,我们终于见到了祖先的脸】
What did people from the New Stone Age look like? For a long time, nobody knew. But modern technologies have now shown us the faces of two men from that time.
Last month, a group of Chinese researchers released the portraits (肖像) of these two men. They were based on their skulls (颅骨). People discovered these head bones at the Yangshao Village site in Henan Province.
The researchers believe the two men both lived near the Yellow River. One man likely lived around 5,600 years ago, during the Yangshao culture. He was about 40 years old when he died. The other was around 50. He might have lived about 4,000 years ago. This was the Longshan culture period.
At present, there are no written records of these ancient people. The researchers collected lots of data from the skulls. They used the data to create 3D models of the men’s faces. Then, they studied populations with the closest genetic (基因的) background. This helped them to rebuild the muscles. Genetic studies also showed other features of the two men. These include their skin color and what their hair was like.
“The project lets us know the faces of our ancestors,” said one of the researchers. “It also helps us learn something about the rich cultures of ancient society.”
1.Where were the head bones of the two men discovered?
2.When did the man from the Yangshao culture likely live?
3.How did the researchers rebuild the muscles of the two men’s faces?
4.What can we learn from this project according to the passage? Write 30 words or more.

话题2 理智使用金钱(共5篇)
