Good morning, everyone.Today,I'd like to share a story about a man of perseverance.
Thomas Edison, the great inventor, faced numerous failures before his groundbreaking
success. He made countless attempts to invent the electric light bulb, experiencing over a
thousand failures. However, instead of giving up,he famously said,I have not failed.I've just
D25
found 10,000 ways that won't work."His tenacity and refusal to accept defeat ultimately led him
to success,forever changing the world.
Thanks for your listening.
第二节

With no other options,I had to search the other stores in the area for her.Anxious to meet
her again,I was afraid of the awkwardness that had accompanied us.Reluctantly and impatiently,
my will to search decreased. But my assumptions were misguided.Mom stood in a high-end store,
clutching an extravagant sweater."This will suit you,"she said.I nearly nodded in haste.Upon
closer inspection, her weary yet joyful expression as she offered me the sweater silenced me,
revealing her profound love.
I felt ashamed of myself, facing Mom's offer.I was frozen in disbelief, tears streaming down
my face. The expensive sweater in her hands contrasted fiercely with her worn, inexpensive
clothes,a proof of her sacrifice in buying me new ones. Her constant fatigue and plain appearance
stemmed from her tireless efforts to provide for me.Despite her plain appearance, her unwavering
love for me shone bright.Suddenly,Mom appeared radiantly beautiful and amazing to me.I was
ashamed,not of her,but of myself.“Do you want it??”she asked again.“No,thank you,”I
replied,humbled by her love.

M:Good afternoon,students.My name is Dr.Adam Tilly.For over 20 years,I've journeyed from
an eager student like yourselves to an expert in renewable energy.I'm here today to share my
journey.Early in my career,I saw the ocean as an endless power source. We designed devices
to efficiently transform the ocean's energy into electricity. But then, something happened.A
video showed our devices were harming some sea life.We didn't give up.Instead,we made our
devices safer. We also started looking at other ways to make power, like using wind on land.
This way,we could protect the ocean and still make renewable energy.Because of this,I've
made a course called "Renewable Energy and Environmental Impact".You can take it next
semester. It'll help you leam about energy and how to protect the environment. In addition,we
offer an exciting work experience opportunity at our Renewable Energy Lab.Here, you can
apply your classroom learning and witness first-hand how innovation and environmental
responsibility combine.Remember, education is not just about gaining knowledge, but also
about understanding its application and implications in the real world.Your journey towards

In order to facilitate teaching, our school equips students with tablet computers for classroom
learning,which has aroused heated discussion.
Some people think that the use of tablet computers benefits more. For teachers, they can
make the class vivid and motivate students to participate. For students, they can solve their doubts
by surfing the Intemet. However, others think that with computers, students may play games and
access unhealthy websites and even in class they can be distracted.
In my opinion,to prevent students from doing something unrelated to the class, schools can
adopt some technical measures and instruct students how to use tablet computers properly.

第二节
One possible version
Ricky started feeling ashamed. He immediately understood that the robot was neither broken
nor misprogrammed.Rather,it had been programmed extremely well!Regretful,Ricky was at a
loss what to do."Should I remain who I used to be or will I follow the robot's step? How stupid I
am to suspect a robot!"He thought to himself,"Probably,it is better to give than to receive."
Since then,Ricky had decided to become a "maximum efficiency boy".He put real care into
how he treated his things. He kept them tidy, and made sure he didn't have more than what was
necessary. And,often,he would buy things, and take them along with his good friend, the robot,
to help out those other people who needed them.He felt delighted and fortunate that it was the
robot that taught him a valuable life lesson.

problem right away and get you some cash.
W:Thanks very much.I'll just be waiting over there.

W:Do you keep in touch with your aunt in America?
M:Sure,I usually call her once a month.
W:That sounds kind of expensive.
M:Yeah,a little,I guess.
W:Do you ever have the desire to chat online?
M:Sure. But my aunt is a little older and not really into using the computer.
W:But surely she would want to save a little money. You said she has kids. They must have a
computer in the house. You could get one of her kids to teach her how to use the Internet.
M:Yeah,I guess I never really thought about it.I kind of like hearing the sound of her voice. It
feels a little closer and more personal.
W:Yeah,I understand.I like hearing my parents'voices too,but I don't feel like I need to hear
them every time we talk.
M:Hmm.Maybe I will get her kids to help. It's a good idea.

W:Good afternoon.Welcome to Northwest Airlines.How can I help you?
M:I'd like to check in for the 2 o'clock flight to Nairobi.
W:OK.Oh,that flight has been put off about an hour.Nothing major,just a weather delay.May I
have your name,please?
M:Sure,Jim Harkness.
W:Got it.I see you're connecting from Beijing.
M:Yeah.I'm the director of the Worldwide Fund for Nature in Beijing.I'm going to Nairobi for a
conference on conservation planning.
W:Fascinating. Will you have any luggage to check in?
M:Yes.One bag,one carry-on bag and one laptop.Do I have to weigh all of them?
W:No.Just put the bag on the check scale. What seat would you prefer?
M:I'd like a seat four rows back from those large TV screens if possible.
W:Let me see here.We have one three rows back.Is that OK?
M:Yeah.I just hate being right in front of those screens.

My mum has always told me to help others. One day last week I was walking back to my
home and I passed like an old lady who seemed to be in trouble.I turned back and asked if she
was okay. She explained that she was sick and had to struggle to walk with her shopping bags.I
offered to carry her things and walked her back home but she refused because she didn't want to
give me any trouble.I told her it didn't matter and her home was on my way home.
It was a white lie.As I walked with her,she talked with me and introduced herself.I in turn
told her my name. She asked if I knew Ray Robert.I was shocked and said yes, that was my dad.
It turned out this lady was my dad's neighbor, who had looked after my dad when my grandmother
died thirty years ago.My dad had often spoken of her,but I had never met her as she had moved
away with her family.
It was a lovely moment for both of us.When I got home and told my dad about the incident it
made him cry.I was so moved.I am glad that my small, active kindness ended in a chance
meeting that meant so much to the two people.
