Where to Eat in Rome Like a Local
In Rome, travelers often eat at popular restaurants that offer English menus. But if you want to experience the real taste of the city, follow the locals and find great food in quieter corners.
Santo Palato
Since opening in 2017, Santo Palato has been known for both classic Roman dishes and creative new ones. In March, it moved from a small place in San Giovanni to a bigger one in Porta Metronia, with a modern design that includes bright-orange walls and a glass-walled kitchen. Despite its new look, the easy, old-school feel is still there, with wooden chairs and comfortable tables.
Retrobottega
With its open kitchen, it’s one of the most exciting dining places in the city. The menu includes both classic dishes and creative ones. With over 90 wines (葡萄酒) available by the glass, it’s a great place for wine lovers. For a more relaxed experience, head to Retrovino, the restaurant’s wine bar.
Enoteca L’Antidoto
Hidden in a quiet street in Trastevere, this small wine bar offers just 16 seats. Inside, guests enjoy a relaxed atmosphere (氛围) with soft music. The young chef, Mirko Pelosi, creates a menu of small, creative plates inspired by Italian and other dishes. The wine list focuses on natural wines. And don’t miss the smoked fish, which pairs perfectly with the wines.
Fischio
Next to an old funfair, Fischio is a laid-back bar which serves some of the best coffee in Rome. It’s a favorite place for locals, offering a mix of a café and a neighborhood hangout. Spend the afternoon over a cup of coffee. It’s a great place to unwind and enjoy the Roman life.

Churchlands SeniorHigh School (CSHS) has become part of the Blue Tree Project, a national movement that encourages people to be open about their struggles and aims to end the shame of mental (心理的) illness.
Last week, excitement filled the air as students at CSHS picked up paintbrushes and turned one of the trees bright blue. Laughter mixed with serious conversations as they worked side by side. When a few drops of paint accidentally landed on shoes or clothes, no one minded — it only made the memory more special.
Jess Hazeldine, 17, explained that painting the tree blue was more than just an activity. To her, it was a promise from students to face the issue (问题) of mental health. “It shows we, as students, are doing something about it,” she said. “It means a lot because we are taking an active role in fighting mental health problems among young people.” She added that painting the tree blue was also a way of showing that the students understood how serious the issue was, and that they were ready to work together as a school to address it.
Acting junior school principal Lisa Campbell also shared her thoughts. She said the school would now be listed on the Blue Tree Project’s website, alongside many other schools and organizations across the country. “It shows that we are part of a larger community in this cause,” she added.
Parent board member Genevieve McSporran agreed. She believed the blue tree would remain a lasting reminder. “It’s more than just one day of awareness — it will always be there,” she explained. She pointed out that the tree, visible to anyone passing by, helped build a stronger connection with the wider community.
24. What is the aim of the Blue Tree Project?
A. To raise awareness of mental health.
B. To encourage students to form a habit.
C. To prepare for a community festival.
D. To recognize the weakness of students.
25. What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 3 refer to?
A. Attending school. B. Painting the tree blue.
C. Drawing a picture. D. Following a schedule.
26. What is Genevieve’s attitude toward the activity?
A. Doubtful. B. Worried.
C. Supportive. D. Uncertain.
27. Where is this text probably taken from?

C. A research paper. D. A travel magazine.

Learn English in Seven: Use the Power of Seven to Improve Your English is a useful guide for anyone who wants to improve their English skills in a simple and affordable way. Written by Josef Essberger, an experienced English teacher, this book presents a unique method of learning by breaking down the process into seven easy steps. Each step focuses on a different area of language learning, making it suitable for both beginners and advanced learners.
The seven key areas covered in the book are words, grammar, listening, speaking, reading, writing, and pronunciation. The author does not just focus on theoretical (理论的) knowledge, but also offers practical advice and real-life examples to help readers apply what they learn. For many teens (青少年), Saturday mornings are a time to sleep in. After a busy week of waking up early, weekends offer a chance to catch up on rest. A new study finds that sleeping in on weekends — as long as it’s not for more than two additional hours — may help teens feel less anxious (焦虑的).
Sleep is very important for everyone, especially teens, because it helps the brain and body work properly. However, 75% of American teens do not get the recommended (推荐) 8 to 10 hours of sleep each night. School, homework, and other activities require early wake-ups, and teens usually find it difficult to fall asleep before 11 pm.
In the past, research has suggested that sleeping too much on weekends could cause health problems. But no one had looked closely at how weekend sleep affects anxiety.
Sojeong Kim, a researcher from the University of Oregon, decided to study this. She focused on teens aged 12 to 15, as this is when sleep problems often start. The study used data from around 1,900 teens who had filled out questionnaires about their feelings of anxiety.
The results showed that teens who slept in on weekends had lower anxiety, but only if they slept for less than two additional hours. Teens who didn’t sleep in-or lost sleep on the weekend-reported higher anxiety levels. Those who slept in more than two additional hours had the most anxiety of all.
Kim believes that sleeping too much on weekends can cause “social jet lag”, just like the tiredness people feel when they travel across time zones. For now, she wants teens to know there can be benefits to sleeping in on the weekend. “Getting a little more sleep on weekends might help you feel less anxious,” she says. “But sleeping too much may make things worse.”
32. What does the author want to point out in paragraph 2?
A. It’s hard for teens to get enough sleep.
B. Too much homework is harmful to kids.
C. Most teens sleep for over eight hours.
D. Adults enjoy sleeping late on workdays.
33. What were the teens in the study asked to do?
A. Finish a test paper. B. Answer some questions.
C. Write a diary entry. D. Go to bed early every day.
34. What did the study show about teens sleeping in over two additional hours on weekends?
A. They avoided “social jet lag”. B. They felt calm in the classroom.
C. They experienced higher anxiety. D. They reported a look of satisfaction.
35. Which is the most suitable title for the text?
A. How Early Wake-ups Affect Teens B. The Best Time for Teens to Sleep
C. How Teens End Struggles at School D. Teens’ Catch-up Sleep on Weekends

That morning, Ms. White had asked her if she would take charge of the class bulletin board (布告栏) for an upcoming competition. Anna, the student who usually did it, was sick, and someone needed to step in. Eliza was surprised that Ms. White had chosen her. She was nervous and said that her handwriting wasn’t good enough. But Ms. White encouraged her to think it over and promised to let her make the final decision by the end of the day.
Now, as Eliza walked toward the teachers’ office, her heart raced. The thought of her handwriting being shown on the bulletin board for everyone to see made her stomach turn. She had already decided she would say no.
When Eliza reached the office door, she stood there for a moment, trying to calm herself.

The next year, he got his PhD at Princeton University, the USA. During 1945 — 1954, he worked on designs for computers. One of his most famous ideas was the Turing Test. He thought computers could be made to do everything a person could do. So his test was to see when a computer could be considered to be like a human being. He thought if a person could communicate with the computer and you couldn’t tell if you talked with a person or a computer, that computer would become just like a human being. Alan Turing had made a great contribution to human beings.

【答案】32. A 33. B 34. C 35. D

The final class of the day was PE, and Eliza was having a great time skipping (跳) rope on the sports field. Just then, the school bell rang, signaling the end of the day.
Eliza packed up her skipping rope, but her mind was focused on something else — she had to make a decision.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Taking a deep breath, Eliza knocked on the door.

After some thought, Eliza replied, “OK, I’ll give it a try.”
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】 Taking a deep breath, Eliza knocked on the door. “Come in,” Ms. White called from inside. “Ah, Eliza. Have you thought about the bulletin board?” Ms. White asked. Eliza expressed her concerns about her messy handwriting. Ms. White reassured her, saying it wasn’t about perfection but about doing her best. She encouraged Eliza to focus on her creativity and positive energy. Eliza hesitated, still unsure, but Ms. White reminded her that trying, even with doubts, was what mattered most. Ms. White smiled brightly. “If you need anything, I’m here.”
After some thought, Eliza replied, “OK, I’ll give it a try.” Ms. White immediately stood up and handed her a few blank papers and markers. “We’ll start small. Let’s plan it together,” she suggested. Eliza smiled, feeling more at ease with her teacher’s support. They spent the next few minutes discussing ideas for the bulletin board. As Eliza sketched out some designs, she realized that maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all. With Ms. White’s help, what she would do was try her best to plan for the upcoming competition, and that was enough.
【解析】
