二、阅读
第一节 阅读理解(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
阅读下列材料,从每题所给的A、B、C和D项中,选出最佳选项。
A
There’s nothing better than an ice-cold drink on a hot day. But when you’re outside, keeping drinks cold isn’t easy. Ice melts (融化), coolers are heavy, and you can’t bring your fridge with you.
Wouldn’t it be great if your drink could just cool itself?
Well, the Cool Can can do that!
The Cool Can is a self-cooling can invented by James Vyse of Wales who previously worked as a bartender. Despite having no formal training in engineering, he spent years experimenting with different ideas. Finally, he made a can that can chill a drink in minutes.
The Cool Can is easy to use. There is a button on the bottom of the can. When you press it, the outside of the can becomes cold. After a few minutes, the drink inside is nice and cold too! This happens because of a special layer inside the can. When you push the button, water inside the can touches some special crystals. This makes a reaction (反应) that takes away heat, so the drink gets cold.
As well as being easy to use, the Cool Can could also be good for the environment. Cooling systems use a lot of electricity — about 17% of the world’s electricity, says the United Nations. Plus, unlike plastic bottles, aluminum cans (铝罐) are easy to recycle, and the Cool Can can be recycled just like any other can.
The idea is already quite popular. A survey of 100 university students found that 81% would choose a self-cooling can over a normal one when drinking on the go, while 73% would be happy to pay more for a drink that cools itself.

Digital innovation (创新) is changing China’s museums.
In Ningxia, there’s a museum. It shows the Tangut culture. The Tangut people lived in northwest China long ago. They controlled important trade ways. The museum uses smart glass boxes with special screens. These screens can turn old things into moving 3D pictures. You can even touch and move the pictures with your hands!
A visitor said, “When I press a button, a 3D picture of the exhibit shows up. I can move my hands to turn the picture around. I can make the small parts of the work bigger to see them clearly. It’s really amazing!” Another visitor shared, “I have visited many museums before, but none of them were like this. My daughter used to think history was boring. Now she says she wants to learn more about the Tangut people. That is a big change.”
In Sichuan’s Sanxingdui Ruins, digital technology is changing the way old things are fixed.
At the site, many broken parts were found. AI helps scientists find out which parts can be put together. Scientists use 3D scanning (扫描) to make models of these pieces. Then AI helps them check the shapes and find out how to put the parts together. Before using AI, scientists had to match the broken pieces by hand. That work took a very long time and it was easy for people to make mistakes. Now, with the help of computers, the work becomes faster and more correct.
In Xinjiang, the Ya’er Lake Grottoes are part of the ancient Jiaohe Ruins on the Silk Road. They show how China uses digital technology to protect old things and share them with people. The museum opened in April. Visitors can use special AR tools to see beautiful murals (壁画) that have been brought back to life. A museum worker said, “Digital technology helps us protect valuable old things while letting people enjoy them.”
( ) 26. What can visitors do in the museum in Ningxia?
A. Paint on the exhibits. B. Take exhibits out of the glass boxes.
C. Learn about the history through voice guides. D. Use hand movements to control 3D pictures.
( ) 27. How does AI help at the Sanxingdui Ruins?
A. By using 3D scanning to repair the broken parts. B. By finding which parts can be connected.
C. By making digital models of the old things. D. By finding out many more broken pieces.
( ) 28. Why do the Ya’er Lake Grottoes use digital technology?
A. To help the artists make new murals quickly.
B. To keep old things safe and let people see them.
C. To study ancient trade ways on the Silk Road.
D. To change the real murals into computer pictures.
( ) 29. What’s the best structure of the passage?
A. ①/②③/④⑤/⑥ B. ①②/③/④⑤⑥ C. ①②/③④/⑤⑥ D. ①②③④⑤/⑥
( ) 30. What is the best title for the passage?
A. Digital Technology Shines in Chinese Museums
B. Amazing 3D Pictures in Ningxia Museum
C. Three Famous Museums in China
D. Different Ways to Protect Ancient Cultural Relics

Scientists have studied different kinds of animals such as pigs and dogs for a long time. It’s long been known that pigs are intelligent, but a new study shows more about these sensitive (敏感的) animals and how they help each other out. Scientists have found that when two pigs get into a fight, a third pig will step in to calm things down. This finding challenges common beliefs that only higher mammals show such peaceful behaviors, and it surprises many researchers.
Scientists from the University of Turin in Italy spent six months studying 104 pigs on a farm, watching to see what happened during and after fights. Pigs often fight over things like food, mud that they can lie or roll about in, or the shade to sit in. They bite, push each other or knock each other on the head. The scientists thought that the pigs might also have ways of solving arguments, just like humans.
They found that a third pig often got closer to the fighting pigs after their fight — touching noses, rubbing (蹭) ears against them or sitting next to them. This had an interesting effect. For the pig that had been attacked, it seemed to comfort it. For the pig that had started the fight, it seemed to help it see that it had done something wrong. The study also showed that pigs were more likely to stop fights when they had a close relationship with those who were fighting. The scientists also saw how pigs got on well with each other again after fights, by rubbing noses or lying down next to each other.
Birds and wolves have been seen breaking up fights before — but not pigs. It shows high levels of intelligence and empathy (the ability to understand how others are feeling). Ivan Norscia, who studied the pigs, said, “They have the ability to be sensitive to the feelings of others, and then somehow bring calm back to the group.”
( ) 31. According to the passage, pigs often fight over ______.
A. other pigs they like B. places where they live
C. the attention of the owner D. food, mud or the shade
( ) 32. Which paragraph describes the pigs’ actions after a fight?
A. Paragraph 1. B. Paragraph 2. C. Paragraph 3. D. Paragraph 4.
( ) 33. What can we infer from the study findings in Paragraph 3?
A. Pigs never comfort each other after a fight.
B. Pigs only fight over food, not over other things.
C. Pigs are more likely to comfort strangers than friends.
D. Pigs are more likely to stop fights when they know the fighters well.
( ) 34. What does the study mainly show us?
A. Pigs like fighting with each other.
B. Pigs break up fights more often than wolves.
C. Pigs like living alone instead of living in groups.
D. Pigs are smart and can understand each other’s feelings.
( ) 35. What’s the best title for the passage?
A. A Day on a Pig Farm in Italy B. Pigs are good at making friends
C. Pigs: Smarter Than Dogs and Wolves D. Pigs Show Empathy by Stopping Fights

第二节 简答题(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
请阅读下面短文,根据所提供的信息,回答五个问题。
When I was a child, I read a story about the Wright brothers — Orville and Wilbur. They had a great idea: to build a machine that could fly like a bird. At that time, most people thought it was impossible. Some even laughed at them. But the brothers didn’t listen. They believed in their dream.
The Wright brothers worked in a bicycle shop in Ohio. They used what they learned from fixing bikes to help them build flying machines. They watched how birds flew and noticed that birds changed the angles (角度) of their wings to turn and balance. This gave them an important idea for controlling their plane.
They built one glider (滑翔机) after another. They tested them on the windy beaches of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Each time they failed, they learned something new. They made many improvements and finally added a small engine to make a real airplane.
On December 17, 1903, their dream came true. Orville flew their plane, the Flyer, for 12 seconds. It was only 37 meters, but it changed the world. That day, they made three more flights. The longest one lasted 59 seconds. Their great idea led to all the airplanes we see today.
The Wright brothers’ story teaches us something important: great ideas come from hard work, patience, and the courage to try again after failure. The brothers once said, “It is possible to fly without motors, but not without knowledge and skills.”
So, if you have a great idea, don’t be afraid to try. You may fail at first, but like the Wright brothers, you may also fly one day.

第三节 书面表达(范文):
What makes an idea truly great? As far as I’m concerned, it must be Tu Youyou’s discovery of artemisinin.
In the 1960s, malaria made thousands of people lose their lives every year. Tu Youyou, a Chinese scientist, took on the challenge to find a cure. Her great idea was to look for answers in ancient Chinese medicine. She read many old books and found a record from over 1,600 years ago about a plant called sweet wormwood. As the saying goes, “No pain, no gain.”
The road was full of difficulties — her team failed as many as 190 times. What was worse, Tu herself got sick from the tests. However, instead of giving up, she kept moving forward. Thanks to her strong will, she finally achieved great success.
What did I learn from her story? First of all, great ideas don’t come easily; they take hard work and patience. Secondly, a great idea often comes from a heart full of love and a strong wish to help others.
