My telescope tin
(Writing Outline)
When I saw the stars through the school telescope last autumn, a dream was born: I wanted one of my own. The price — 560 yuan — was the biggest number in my life so far.
So I made my own "dream tin": an old milk-powder can, turned into a moneybox, with "TELESCOPE" written boldly on it. My plan was simple: save 20 yuan a week from my pocket money and earn more by doing chores for Grandma. The first month went well. But then the tin faced its biggest test — the school book fair! My hand held twenty fresh yuan over the tin... and slowly put it back. Ten times more comics would mean ten times less telescope, I told myself. I gave it a try — no, I mean, I did it. Six months later, on a June evening, the tin rang heavy and full.
Now my telescope stands by my window, and Saturn's rings belong to my own eyes. People say saving money is boring, but they are wrong: every coin in a dream tin makes a small, bright sound of "soon".
The red envelope decision
(Writing Outline)
Last Spring Festival, I received 2,000 yuan in red envelopes — the largest fortune of my thirteen years. For a week, the money lay in my drawer, and three plans fought in my head every night.
Plan A: a new phone game console, like most of my classmates had. Plan B: save it all for the future — safe, but the drawer was not a bank. Plan C: something I had never considered until I visited Grandma that weekend. Her old radio, her only companion, had finally died. She waved her hand quickly: "Don't waste money on an old woman." But I had seen her ear lean towards the silent table, missing the evening opera. Back home, I made my decision. I bought a small new radio, set all her favourite channels, and stuck big paper labels on every button so she could find them herself. When the first note of opera filled her room, Grandma held my hand for a long, long time.
I won't say the games wouldn't have been fun. But now I understand the line from our textbook: the key is not how much money we have, but how we use it. Two thousand yuan can buy many things, but only one of them made an old room sing again. Money is a servant — and that week, for the first time, I felt I had used it well.
