Among the chaos of fire fighting, an unexpected presence emerged: a goat named Goldie. For hours, Goldie followed the firefighters at a steady run, occasionally chewing the leaves they were cutting. At first, one firefighter, Leland, viewed her as a potential danger. He and his crew tried to drive her away. Goldie refused to be dismissed, stepped back a few paces, tilted her head, and continued watching them with curiosity. The turning point came during a brief lunch break. A firefighter sat down heavily. Goldie approached quietly, and then rested her head on his shoulder. The man froze — then let out a surprised, genuine laugh. It was the first time Leland had heard anyone laugh in several days. “At that moment,” Leland later admitted, “I realized her presence didn’t interrupt our work — it sustained us. The physical exhaustion was bearable; the mental weight of constant vigilance (警觉) was not. She lifted something we didn’t even know we were carrying.” Goldie’s owner, Glader, explained that her goat has always been a “social butterfly”. “Firefighters are trained to handle physical threats, but they rarely get support for the emotional cost,” Glader said. “Goldie doesn’t know about containment percentages or evacuation (疏散) zones. She just knows when humans need a moment of lightness. And sometimes, that companionship is exactly what prevents burnout.” By late Friday, the fire was 50% contained. For Leland, the memory of Goldie following them carried a lasting lesson. “We fight fires to protect homes and lives,” he reflected. “But that goat reminded us why those lives matter — not just because they exist, but because they are filled with simple, unexpected joys. In the end, maybe she wasn’t following us. Maybe she was leading us back to what we were fighting for.” 24. How did Leland initially react to Goldie? A. He ignored her completely. B. He was attracted by her. C. He considered her a risk. D. He was curious about her. 25. What can we infer from the firefighter’s laugh? A. He found Goldie annoying. B. He was making fun of his crew. C. He had been stressed for days. D. He was amused by Goldie’s fear. 26. Which is a feature of Goldie according to Glader? A. Her role as a companion. B. Her awareness of fire safety. C. Her ability to fight fires. D. Her knowledge about evacuation. 27. What did Leland realize about the lives firefighters were protecting? A. They need much better fire equipment. B. They are filled with ordinary happiness. C. They depend on firefighters’ hard work. D. They are saved by firefighters’ bravery. C Mention cultural heritage, and people may picture grand buildings or valuable paintings. Yet some traditions survive not behind glass, but around a kitchen table. What matters is not only the food that appears there, but also the relationships and knowledge created while people prepare and share it. In Tajikistan, oshi palav is a rice dish made with ingredients such as vegetables, meat and spices. Its many versions are served at ordinary meals as well as celebrations. People prepare it together, often talking, singing or playing music. Learning also has a social form: Skills are passed down through families or from experienced cooks to learners. When a learner has mastered the dish, a special meal marks the achievement. The teacher receives gifts, and the learner receives a cooking tool called a skimmer, a sign of readiness to work independently. A different food tradition in the Republic of Korea makes a similar point. Kimjang is the shared practice of preparing kimchi (泡菜). Preparation follows the seasons, with large amounts made and shared in late autumn for the winter ahead. Families exchange not just food but ideas and practical skills. Methods vary between regions and households, and this variety is itself part of the heritage. UNESCO recognizes both traditions as intangible cultural heritage: practices and knowledge that communities keep alive. Their value cannot be reduced to a list of ingredients. People learn how to cooperate, offer hospitality and take responsibility for others. A recipe may describe what goes into a pot; it does not fully describe what happens between the people standing around it. This distinction matters when food knowledge can be found online in seconds. A video can introduce the steps, but knowing the steps is not the whole experience. To keep a food tradition living, younger people need opportunities to join in, contribute and eventually teach someone else. The meal ends; the relationships and skills can continue. 28. Why does the author mention buildings and paintings at the beginning? A. To introduce a broader view of cultural heritage. B. To compare food traditions with fine art. C. To show the richness of cultural heritage. D. To attract readers with grand images. 29. What does the skimmer symbolize for oshi palav learners? A. The ability to cook the dish on their own. B. The wish to update traditional recipes. C. The duty to cook for family members. D. The ambition to run a cooking school. 30. Why are oshi palav and kimjang discussed together? A. Both stress strict rules for choosing ingredients. B. Both require learners to follow one fixed recipe. C. Both depend on family efforts to pass down traditions. D. Both show how shared food practices carry social values. 31. What can we learn from the last paragraph? A. Recipes are the most important part of food heritage. B. Online videos will replace traditional cooking lessons. C. Food traditions need personal participation to survive. D. Young people show little interest in old food culture. D Some of the universe’s earliest massive galaxies (星系) may have much more mass than astronomers once believed. Their brightest stars are easy to see, but many small, faint stars may be hidden by their light. This means these galaxies may be much heavier than earlier studies suggested. An international team used NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and the Very Large Telescope to study nine massive galaxies. These galaxies stopped forming stars billions of years ago. By combining the observations, the researchers were able, for the first time, to reliably estimate (估计) the relative numbers of tiny, faint stars and much larger, brighter stars in galaxies at such great distances. “These galaxies are different,” said Joel Leja, a professor at Penn State. “They’re different in a way that is really challenging to understand, because they are more massive than we expected.” To uncover those faint star populations, astronomers separated each galaxy’s light into a spectrum, where small differences in color reveal which kinds of stars are present. Bright stars usually dominate the spectrum, so faint stars were difficult to find. Researchers used models to better understand the light. Astronomers have traditionally estimated the unseen mass contained in small, faint stars by assuming that stars form in roughly the same proportions throughout the universe. The new measurements challenge that assumption. They indicate that the most massive galaxies in the early universe contain a substantially larger share of low-mass stars than less massive galaxies such as the Milky Way. “This discovery has major implications for our understanding of the early universe,” said Leja. “Since the launch of JWST, astronomers have found surprisingly massive and mature galaxies that already existed shortly after the Big Bang. If these galaxies really contain more low-mass stars, their total mass may also have been underestimated.” Over the next several years, the researchers plan to apply the same method to galaxies from even earlier periods, bringing them closer to the epoch when the universe’s first generations of stars and galaxies formed. 32. How did the researchers find faint stars? A. By comparing the sizes of galaxies. B. By observing stars from the Milky Way. C. By examining differences in galaxy light. D. By measuring changes in star movement. 33. What does the underlined word “implications” in paragraph 6 mean? A. Possible effects. B. Hidden reasons. C. New disadvantages. D. Various opinions. 34. What does the researchers’ future plan show? A. Earlier galaxies are easier to study now. B. Galaxy formation is no longer a mystery. C. Their current method has proved perfect. D. The discovery of faint stars may lead to wider research. 35. Which is the most suitable title for the text? A. A Study of the Milky Way B. A New Look at Early Galaxies C. Changes in Space Technology D. The Formation of Nine Galaxies Short-Form Video Content Strategies Short-form video content is taking over social media platforms. ____36____. Everyone seemed to have a group already. I often carried my food around the noisy cafeteria, pretending to look for someone, before choosing an empty seat. On the playground, I discovered a blue bench with the words “Sit here if you need a friend”. The first time I used it, a boy named Leo came over, introduced himself and invited me to join a ball game. That simple bench changed the school life for me. Two years later, my family moved again. At Pine Hill School, I quickly made friends, partly because I now knew that being new did not last forever. Still, I noticed younger students standing alone near the fence during break. Pine Hill School had no friendship bench. I began wondering whether I could build one before leaving for high school. My technology teacher, Mr Grant, liked the idea. He found some unused wood in the workshop and taught me how to make a plan. I measured the boards, designed a simple backrest and chose yellow paint so the bench would be easy to notice. For three Saturdays, Dad drove me to school. We cut, sanded and joined the pieces. I imagined a lonely student sitting there and another child understanding the message. The bench was nearly finished when Mr Grant tested it. One leg rocked badly. What’s worse, a long crack appeared in the seat when we tightened a screw (螺丝). I stared at the damaged board. We had used up all the wood. School was ending in a week, and I had hoped to place the bench on the playground before the final bell. That afternoon, I carried the broken piece into class. I admitted that the bench might not be ready. For a moment, nobody spoke. Then Leo — who had transferred to Pine Hill School that year — raised his hand. “A friendship bench should probably be built by friends,” he said. Hearing Leo’s words, I felt a warm feeling spread across my heart. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On the last school day, we carried the finished bench to the playground together. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力部分该部分分为第一第二两节。 Hello, international friends club, can I help you? C 25. C 26. A 27. 根据第一段中“At first, one firefighter, Leland, viewed her as a potential danger. (这是利兰几天来第一次听到有人笑。)”可知,消防员连日来一直承受巨大压力。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“She just knows when humans need a moment of lightness. And sometimes, that companionship is exactly what prevents burnout. (她只知道人类何时需要片刻的轻松,有时这种陪伴正是防止倦怠的关键。)”可知,在戈莱德看来,戈尔迪的核心特质是作为陪伴者的角色。 【27题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“But that goat reminded us why those lives matter — not just because they exist, but because they are filled with simple, unexpected joys. (但这只山羊提醒了我们,那些生命之所以重要,不只是因为它们存在,更是因为它们充满了简单、意外的喜悦。)”可知,利兰意识到消防员所守护的生命中充满了平凡的幸福。 C Mention cultural heritage, and people may picture grand buildings or valuable paintings. A 29. A 30. D 31. 根据第一段中“Mention cultural heritage, and people may picture grand buildings or valuable paintings. Yet some traditions survive not behind glass, but around a kitchen table. (提到文化遗产,人们可能会想到宏伟的建筑或珍贵的画作。然而,有些传统并非保存在玻璃展柜之后,而是围绕在餐桌旁得以延续。)”可知,作者开篇提及建筑和画作,是为了引出更宽泛的文化遗产视角。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“The teacher receives gifts, and the learner receives a cooking tool called a skimmer, a sign of readiness to work independently. (老师会收到礼物,而学习者会收到一件名为漏勺的烹饪工具,这象征着学习者已准备好独立操作。)”可知,漏勺对学习者来说象征着可以独立制作这道菜肴的能力。 【30题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“People prepare it together, often talking, singing or playing music. Learning also has a social form: Skills are passed down through families or from experienced cooks to learners. When a learner has mastered the dish, a special meal marks the achievement. (人们会一起制作这道菜,常常聊着天、唱着歌或演奏着音乐。学习也具有社会化的形式:技艺通过家庭传承,或由经验丰富的厨师传授给学习者。当学习者掌握了这道菜后,会以一顿特别的饭来纪念这一成就。)”和第三段中“A different food tradition in the Republic of Korea makes a similar point. Kimjang is the shared practice of preparing kimchi (泡菜). Preparation follows the seasons, with large amounts made and shared in late autumn for the winter ahead. Families exchange not just food but ideas and practical skills. (韩国的一项不同饮食传统也说明了类似的道理。泡菜制作是共同制作泡菜的实践。制作遵循季节变化,在深秋时会大量制作并分享,以备过冬。家庭之间交换的不仅是食物,还有想法和实用技能。)”,结合第四段中“People learn how to cooperate, offer hospitality and take responsibility for others. (人们学会如何合作、款待他人以及为他人承担责任。)”可知,两道美食传统都是人们共同制作食物,二者共同体现了共享饮食实践承载社会价值的特点,因此放在一起讨论。 【31题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“To keep a food tradition living, younger people need opportunities to join in, contribute and eventually teach someone else. (为了让饮食传统保持活力,年轻人需要有机会参与其中、作出贡献,并最终再传授给其他人。)”可知,饮食传统需要亲身参与才能延续。 D Some of the universe’s earliest massive galaxies (星系) may have much more mass than astronomers once believed. The Formation of Nine Galaxies 【答案】32. C 33. A 34. D 35. 根据第四段中“To uncover those faint star populations, astronomers separated each galaxy’s light into a spectrum, where small differences in color reveal which kinds of stars are present. (为了揭示那些暗淡的恒星群,天文学家将每个星系的光分离成光谱,其中颜色的细微差异可以揭示存在哪些类型的恒星。)”可知,研究人员通过分析星系光线的差异来发现暗淡的恒星。 【33题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第六段中“This discovery has major implications for our understanding of the early universe (这一发现对我们理解早期宇宙具有重大的implications。)”及后文“Since the launch of JWST, astronomers have found surprisingly massive and mature galaxies that already existed shortly after the Big Bang. If these galaxies really contain more low-mass stars, their total mass may also have been underestimated. (自从詹姆斯·韦伯太空望远镜(JWST)发射以来,天文学家发现了令人惊讶的巨大而成熟的星系,它们在大爆炸后不久就已经存在。如果这些星系确实含有更多低质量恒星,那么它们的总质量也可能被低估了。)”可知,这一发现对我们理解早期宇宙有重大影响,implications意为“可能的影响”。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Over the next several years, the researchers plan to apply the same method to galaxies from even earlier periods, bringing them closer to the epoch when the universe’s first generations of stars and galaxies formed. (在接下来的几年里,研究人员计划将同样的方法应用于更早时期的星系,从而使他们更接近宇宙第一批恒星和星系形成的时代。)”可知,对暗淡恒星的发现可能会推动更广泛的研究。 【35题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其根据第一段“Some of the universe’s earliest massive galaxies (星系) may have much more mass than astronomers once believed. Their brightest stars are easy to see, but many small, faint stars may be hidden by their light. This means these galaxies may be much heavier than earlier studies suggested. (宇宙中一些最早的大质量星系,其质量可能远超天文学家曾经的认知。它们最亮的恒星很容易被看到,但许多微小、暗淡的恒星可能被这些亮光所掩盖。这意味着这些星系可能比早期研究认为的要重得多。)”可知,文章主要介绍了一项关于早期大质量星系的新研究,研究发现这些星系可能比之前认为的含有更多暗淡小恒星,因此质量可能被低估。B选项“A New Look at Early Galaxies (重新审视早期星系)”最能概括文章主旨,是最适合的标题。 Short-Form Video Content Strategies Short-form video content is taking over social media platforms. ____36____. Post new content every 1-3 days to maintain a steady presence without burning out. 每1至3天发布一次新内容,以保持稳定的更新节奏,同时避免精疲力竭)”强调了长期稳定更新的重要性,F选项“Being in for the long term is better than making many videos and giving up (长期坚持下去,比制作很多视频后又放弃要好)”中的“Being in for the long term”与上文“Consistency”和“steady presence”形成逻辑衔接,承接上文,完成该段的逻辑闭环。 【40题详解】 空处是该段的小标题,下文“Find the top short-form video creators in your field and study their content strategy. What formats are working well? How do they structure their openings and endings? Adapt their tricks to create your own original, share-worthy content. 借鉴他们的技巧,来创作属于你自己的原创且值得分享的内容)”核心是向优秀同行学习,B选项“Borrow ideas from the best (向最优秀的人借鉴创意)”中的“Borrow ideas”与下文“study their content strategy”和“Adapt their tricks”形成逻辑衔接,精准概括了整段的主旨。 Years ago, a teacher suggested keeping chickens on the school grounds and making them part of her lessons. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Hearing Leo’s words, I felt a warm feeling spread across my heart. No sooner had Leo finished speaking than many classmates volunteered to help. Some searched for spare boards at home, while others brought sandpaper and paint to school every afternoon. Leo helped me redesign the shaky legs to make them stronger, and we all took turns smoothing the rough surfaces. Even Mr Grant joined us after class, offering useful skills to fix the cracked seat. Bit by bit, our broken bench took on a brand-new look, shining with bright yellow paint. On the last school day, we carried the finished bench to the playground together. We carefully set it beside the fence, and I painted the warm words “Sit here if you need a friend” on its surface. Before long, a quiet boy wandered over and sat down. To my delight, another student soon came to keep him company. As I watched them chat, I realized the true meaning of the friendship bench. It was never just a wooden seat. It was a promise to care for lonely newcomers, passing kindness from one student to another. Small acts of care can bridge loneliness and light up someone’s world. 词汇激活 行为类 ①帮助:help/assist/aid ②漫步过来:wander over/stroll over 情绪类 ①温暖的:warm/heartfelt ②孤独的:lonely/isolated 【点睛】【高分句型1】No sooner had Leo finished speaking than many classmates volunteered to help.
