neither...nor...连接主语时,谓语动词遵循“就近原则”,离谓语最近的主语是my best friend(单数),所以谓语动词用单数understands。主语our moods与动词influence之间是被动关系,且由by weather提示,应用被动语态be done结构,moods是复数,故用are influenced。

根据后文“in such a dry and sandy place”可知,荒漠环境恶劣,树木很难存活,difficult“困难的”符合语境。easy“容易的”、simple“简单的”、possible“可能的”均不符语境。
38.句意:但是殷玉珍从未停止种树。
根据后文“The small saplings grew into a big green forest”可推知,这么大片森林的形成,说明她一直坚持植树,从来没有停下,stopped“停止”符合语境。

Andrew Holleman, a 12-year-old boy, loved playing in the open land near his home. The land was wet and forested, and made a home for the birds, other animals and many different plants. It made the perfect place for him to study and get to know nature.
Suddenly, it was said that some people would build many houses on the empty land. The plants would be removed, the animals would run away and most would probably die.
When he heard about the news, he was not happy. He was very worried that the land and water would be polluted.
Andrew wrote down clearly all the research he had done about the area, and how the houses would affect the local environment. He sent letters to members of the local government and television reporters. He also called on his neighbors to oppose the building of the houses.
Although he was only 12 years old, he had the courage and wisdom of a person much older. Andrew’s teachers described him as kind, shy and active. His classmates also admired (钦佩) how much he knew about local animals and plants, and the environment. Every day after school, Andrew went door-to-door. He asked people who didn’t want the houses built to sign. In only one month, he got the signatures (签名) of 250 people.
In the end, the land remained a safe place for birds, other animals and plants that belonged there.

With all the excitement, surprise, and worries over China’s DeepSeek R1 AI model, I want to make a point: To many young Americans, DeepSeek is cool. They see the Chinese internet as amazing.
How did this happen? First, Chinese products and services win great interest and show new ideas. TikTok is so popular that no US video site can match it since most Americans are active TikTok users. TikTok was shut down earlier in January last year, and the site faced uncertainty. So America’s internet youth turned to a Chinese video site called RedNote, also known as Xiaohongshu. RedNote has more than 300 million users in China, but it got little attention in the US until recently.
And when young Americans visited RedNote, they found something exciting. The opening page is full of what Chinese parents would eat, their words and many pictures that, at least to me, an old American, are hard to understand. Yet Chinese and American youth share ideas with each other here. For example, they tell each other how to cook steamed eggs (蒸蛋) properly.
As for the AI large language models, DeepSeek is really wonderful. Of all these AI tools, I find it the most fun to chat with. Its written answers can show different feelings and are full of fun. DeepSeek once became the top download on Apple’s app store.
Another possible reason why China is widely seen as cool in online culture is that it has few competitors. Not so long ago, many American teenagers loved European culture. They thought Europe was full of knowledge and culture. Today Europe is less attractive to young people. Besides, it is true that young people seldom like what their parents thought was cool when they were young. Now Chinese online culture fills part of this space and brings new interesting choices for those young people.
While the differences between American and Chinese cultures are clear, both Americans and Chinese are friendly, open, forward-looking, and business-friendly. People from the two countries can understand each other well. China has the talent and ability to build online services that Americans will enjoy. China truly has advantages in both technology and colourful online life.
Undoubtedly, China has gained an advantage — not only in technology, but also in liveliness.
51.What pushes many young American internet users to try RedNote?
A.They think TikTok has few interesting video subjects.
B.TikTok may not keep running in their country later on.
C.They believe RedNote works much faster than TikTok.
D.TikTok’s users are getting older day by day.
52.Why can RedNote bring young people from two countries closer?
A.It offers a space for them to share common daily experiences.
B.It provides many free cooking lessons for foreign users.
C.Its homepage is specially designed for foreign teenagers.
D.It translates all the Chinese words into foreign languages.
53.What can we see about DeepSeek from Paragraph 4?

D
Every time you send an email, a message, a photo or post something on the internet, you save paper. However, you leave behind your digital carbon footprint.
You may think that the internet has no effect on the physical world, but we store all the information on different websites, apps and social media on computer servers (服务器). They use lots of electricity. At the same time, they need to be cool, so we use more electricity to keep the temperature low. However, the production of electricity increases our carbon footprint and heats up our earth.
All information, pictures and music on the internet travel in small packets called data (数据). So when we do an online search, the question we have put into the computer becomes data. The computer sends this data to the servers. They then process the question and send it back to our computers as data. The faster the search engine (引擎) works, the bigger the use of electricity. We use the most electricity when we watch a video online. This is because a lot of data travels to and from the server.
Different kinds of technology need different amounts of electricity to work. For example, mobile phones use electromagnetic waves. These waves need more energy to move through buildings, bad weather and even plants. So again, the use of electricity is bigger. Cloud computing also uses a lot of energy because instead of saving your material on your computer, you store it on the server. So again, more data travels between the servers and the computers, using large amounts of energy.
One way to stop this waste is to always update your apps or software. For example, an old word processing tool needs four times more energy to work than a new one. Another way is to think before we see a film online: do you really need to see it for the tenth time?
56.In what way do we leave behind a digital carbon footprint?
A.By using the internet. B.By producing electricity.
C.By keeping the servers cool. D.By saving plenty of paper in daily life.
57.Why does watching a video online use much electricity?
A.It makes the search engine stop working. B.Lots of data travels to and from the server.
C.Many questions are put into the computer. D.It makes the temperature of servers drop quickly.
58.What is the main idea of Paragraph 4?
A.Much data uses large amounts of energy.
B.Cloud computing uses more energy than mobile phones.
C.Mobile phones and cloud computing both increase energy use.
D.Different technologies use different amounts of electricity.
59.What can reduce our digital carbon footprint?
A.Using the latest apps or software. B.Seeing a film online many times.
C.Working with an old word processing tool. D.Storing your films in the cloud.
60.Which would be the best title for the text?
A.How to Save Paper in Daily Life B.The Hidden Environmental Cost of the Internet
C.Ways to Make Servers Work Faster D.Why Cloud Computing Is Better than Local Storage
【答案】56.A 57.B 58.D 59.A 60.B

57.根据文章第3段“We use the most electricity when we watch a video online. This is because a lot of data travels to and from the server.”可知,在线观看视频耗电最多是因为大量数据在服务器和电脑之间传输。
58.文章第4段首句“Different kinds of technology need different amounts of electricity to work.”是该段的主题句,随后列举了手机和云计算的例子来支撑这一观点,概括了全段核心内容。
59.根据文章第5段“One way to stop this waste is to always update your apps or software.”以及后文提到旧工具耗能更多可知,使用最新的应用或软件可以减少数字碳足迹。

A.It is built mainly for people to talk about cooking skills.
B.It helps users work out many kinds of real-life troubles.
C.It provides lots of short-video materials for young people.
D.It wins users’ love because of its interesting replies.
54.What is one reason for American teens’ changing cultural tastes?
A.European traditional culture has become far less colourful.
B.They seldom follow the cultural choices made by their parents.
C.They hope to spend more time learning foreign language skills.
D.Local culture cannot meet teenagers’ study needs any more.
55.Which of the following opinions would the writer agree with?
A.Foreign teenagers turn to Chinese apps for family-life stories.
B.Chinese online products change teens’ ideas about local culture.
C.Chinese online technology shows its special value to the world.
D.People gain rich cultural knowledge from shopping tools.

With all the excitement, surprise, and worries over China's DeepSeek R1 AI model,I want to make a point:
To many young Americans,DeepSeek is cool. They see the Chinese internet as amazing.
How did this happen?First,Chinese products and services win great interest and show new ideas.TikTok is
so popular that no US video site can match it since most Americans are active TikTok users.TikTok was shut down
earlier in January last year, and the site faced uncertainty. So America's internet youth turned to a Chinese video site
called RedNote, also known as Xiaohongshu.RedNote has more than 300 million users in China, but it got little
attention in the US until recently.
And when young Americans visited RedNote, they found something exciting. The opening page is full of
what Chinese parents would eat, their words and many pictures that,at least to me,an old American, are hard to
understand.Yet Chinese and American youth share ideas with each other here. For example, they tell each other how
to cook steamed eggs(蒸蛋)properly.

As for the AI large language models,DeepSeek is really wonderful.Of all these AI tools,I find it the most fun
to chat with. Its written answers can show different feelings and are full of fun.DeepSeek once became the top

Another possible reason why China is widely seen as cool in online culture is that it has few competitors. Not
so long ago, many American teenagers loved European culture. They thought Europe was full of knowledge and
culture.Today Europe is less attractive to young people.Besides,it is true that young people seldom like what their
parents thought was cool when they were young. Now Chinese online culture fills part of this space and brings new
interesting choices for those young people.
While the differences between American and Chinese cultures are clear, both Americans and Chinese are
friendly,open,forward-looking,and business-friendly.People from the two countries can understand each other well.
China has the talent and ability to build online services that Americans will enjoy.China truly has advantages in both
technology and colourful online life.
Undoubtedly,China has gained an advantage-not only in technology, but also in liveliness.
51.What pushes many young American internet users to try RedNote?
A.They think TikTok has few interesting video subjects.
B.TikTok may not keep running in their country later on.
C.They believe RedNote works much faster than TikTok.
D.TikTok's users are getting older day by day.
52.Why can RedNote bring young people from two countries closer?

B.It provides many free cooking lessons for foreign users.
C.Its homepage is specially designed for foreign teenagers.
D.It translates all the Chinese words into foreign languages.
53.What can we see about DeepSeek from Paragraph 4?
A.It is built mainly for people to talk about cooking skills.
B.It helps users work out many kinds of real-life troubles.
C.It provides lots of short-video materials for young people.
D.It wins users'love because of its interesting replies.
54.What is one reason for American teens'changing cultural tastes?
A.European traditional culture has become far less colourful.
B.They seldom follow the cultural choices made by their parents
C.They hope to spend more time learning foreign language skills.
D.Local culture cannot meet teenagers'study needs any more.
55.Which of the following opinions would the writer agree with?
