One possible version:
Hello everyone,
I’m honored to stand here to share my feelings about my new school.
I’ve really fallen in love with this school. Trees and flowers are everywhere, creating a quiet and lovely atmosphere on campus. In our classrooms, modern equipment makes our lessons much more interesting. Most importantly,I feel lucky to meet caring teachers and warm classmates. They are always ready to give me a hand whenever I run into trouble.
In the new term, I will make the most of my class time and take an active part in school activities. I believe I can deal with all the challenges ahead and enjoy a wonderful high school life.
Thank you for listening!
One possible version:
Encouraged by Mrs Rhodes' smile, I forced myself to walk to the front. I felt nervous as I set up my music stand. “Johannes Brahms.” I announced and pressed the play button. The beautiful symphony filled the whole classroom. Holding my wooden stick, I acted as a real conductor. After the music stopped, I told the class about Mr. Brahms. While introducing him, I gradually calmed down. Seeing my classmates listening attentively, I couldn’t contain my excitement. My eyes lit up with joy. When I finished, the whole class burst into warm applause.
The next day, Mrs Rhodes handed me my report card. To my surprise, I got an A+ --I couldn’t believe it. She praised my creative presentation and told me I had a gift for public speaking. A sense of joy and happiness flooded over me. When I looked up, Mrs Rhodes met my gaze with a warm smile, her silent eye contact seeing past my shyness to my hidden potential. That moment sparked real change. From then on, I grew into a confident girl ready to embrace any new challenge.
(Text1)
M:I'm going to the clinic later today. I' ve been feeling very unwell.
W: Really? I had the flu last week. Is that what you have?
M:I had a headache last week, but I'm suffering from severe stomach pains now.
(Text2)
W: Excuse me. I'd like a steak and soup.
M:I'm afraid we are out of steak at the moment. Would you like pork instead?
W: Well, I'd like chicken then. Thank you!
(Text3)
M:I planned to watch a rugby game with my friends, but it was canceled. So, now I'm going to visit a gallery instead. Would you like to come?
W:I'd love to, but I'm going to the cafe with my mom.
(Text4)
W: Hurry! We' re going to miss our flight.
M: There was so much traffic on our way to the airport. If we run, we can make it.
W:OK, but can you take my bags? They are so heavy.
(Text5)
M:I love reading here. It's so relaxing because I like being in nature.
W:I enjoy reading too. However, I prefer to read books in the classroom. It's quiet there.
(Text6)
M: Catherine, I think we can have robots make medicine in the new factory. You see we make ten different kinds of medicine. But each operation only has four procedures.
W: How many robots do we need then, Mike?
M: Four. One measures and mixes the materials for the medicine. One pours the mixed materials into the bottles. One puts on the stickers. Then the last one packs the bottles into boxes.
W:I' ll ask others about the ideas. Thanks for your advice.
(Text7)
W:I'm thinking of applying for a job with a multinational company, but I'm worried about having an interview in English. Can you give me any advice?
M:I guess the first thing is to try to make a good impression.
W: All the people say that! But I just want some practical tips!
M: You should learn something about the company before the interview. Find out what their business concept is so you can predict possible questions, and think about how you will answer.
W: Should I memorize my answer beforehand?
M: No! You should be natural when you speak.
W: But what should I do if I can't remember an English word when answering a question?
M: In that case, you can use other words to explain what you want to say.
W: That's very helpful.
(Text8)
M: Are you still going to the local park every weekend?
W: Absolutely! Our solid science background makes volunteering there both rewarding and fascinating.
M: Agree. Those young trees have stopped growing taller and have become thicker, spreading cool shade across the paths.
W: Yes, but I worry that tourists ignore the fact that the park is a conservation area and leave rubbish everywhere. It's hard to stop people from using the trees as a playground.
M: Mm, you' re right. Anyway, tomorrow I'm going to help out with making whatever is still needed there. It's great that we got the shelters done so that tourists can go birdwatching and still stay dry.
W: Count me in! I' ll bring new plant pots with good soil and bright labels to make the flower beds at the entrance look nice.
(Text9)
M: So Ms Lawrence, apparently your job has brought you great fame and lots of money, hasn't it?
W: Yeah, but the thing that made me decide to be a lawyer was that I wanted to help those who were in trouble.
M: Noble motive. Your husband must have given you lots of support since he is also a successful lawyer.
W: Actually, no. He always complains that I haven't spent enough time with our kids, and he even wants me to quit my job and be a housewife.
M: It's tough to balance work and family, isn't it? Anyway, do you have any advice for our young audience in front of their televisions who also want to become a lawyer someday? Like how they should talk in a court or how to choose their cases?
W: Well, those skills can wait, but I have to remind those who want to be a lawyer that you' re going to be very, very busy in your first few years. It will be a common thing for you to work overtime till midnight.
(Text 10) W: Are you a professional photographer or just a photography lover? We' re excited to announce a community photo contest, and we expect your participation.
A
Weather permitting, you will step outside to the hotel garden at 22:00 to watch the stars可知,第一天的晚间安排了户外观星活动。
22. C。 First, you will watch two short films introducing Jodrell Bank可知,第二天上午游客首先会观看两部介绍Jodrell Bank的短片。
23. A。 ADDITIONAL DAYS BEFORE AND AFTER部分中的This can be arranged for an additional cost可知,游客若想延长行程需要准备支付额外的费用。
B
根据第二段的“For 2,000 years, such proofs were considered impossible … published their new ones on October 28 in American Mathematical Monthly.”
根据第六段中的“Jackson and Johnson only published five proofs and decided to leave another five proofs ‘for interested readers to discover’, they wrote in the paper. Jackson hopes the proofs will encourage other students to ‘see that difficulties are part of the process…’.” 故选 A。
根据末段中的“But that doesn’t… ‘It just opens up lots of mathematical conversations.’”
The benefit is twofold—we react to the world around us and others benefit from our early reactions可知,作者以“尝到酸味”为例来说明身体语言能在人与人之间实现即时信息传递。
30. B。 Our brain also shows our intentions,随后举例:聊天时,如果对方的脚指向汽车或电梯,你知道他可能得走了——即使他嘴上还在继续聊天。最后一句总结… body language is more truthful than the spoken word,因此,作者在本段强调的是身体信号常常揭示真实意图。
While it’s easy to show people differ in navigational ability, it’s harder for scientists to explain why,人们导航能力存在差异这一现象很容易展示,但科学家很难解释其背后的原因。
34. A。 To be good at navigating, you have to be willing to plot new courses … others enjoy it very much以及最后一段中的… early interests and experiences push some people to navigate …

36. F 结合上下文可知,F项中these activities指代的就是上一句提到的“…study, do homework, participate in a sport, watch TV, work at a job, play video games, attend a club meeting and more.”

56. curiosity
57. hidden
58. to explore
59. an
60. visibly
61. as
62. Although / Though/While
注意:although/though 不能和but连用。
63. impressive
64. which
65. have realized

Two years ago, two high-school classmates each worked out a trigonometric proof of the Pythagorean theorem Now, at age 19, they’ve reported finding 10 more proofs of it.
For 2,000 years, such proofs were considered impossible. But that didn’t deter Ne’Kiya Jackson and Calcea Johnson. The pair published their new ones on October 28 in American Mathematical (数学的)Monthly.
“Some people have the impression that you have to be in the mathematical field for years and years before you can actually produce some new mathematics,” says Alvaro Lozano-Robledo, a mathematician who works at the University of Connecticut in Storrs. “But Jackson and Johnson show that you can make achievements even as a high-school student.”
The teens studied Pythagoras’ theorem, whose formula (公式) has been proven many times using algebra and geometry but people thought it could never be proven using the rules of trigonometry (三角学).
However, mathematician Jason Zimba announced the first trig-based proof of Pythagoras’ theorem in 2009. The second came six years later, from mathematician Nuno Luzia. These were the only two until 2022, when Jackson and Johnson presented their first proofs. At the time, both were seniors at St Mary’s Academy. It’s a private school for young Black women in New Orleans.
Jackson and Johnson only published five proofs and decided to leave another five proofs “for interested readers to discover”, they wrote in the paper. Jackson hopes the proofs will encourage other students to “see that difficulties are part of the process. With this in your mind, you might find yourself achieving more than you thought possible”.
Publishing the proofs was a big achievement. But that doesn’t mean the story is over. “Now, other people might take the paper and generalize those proofs, or generalize their ideas,” mathematician Lozano-Robledo says. “It just opens up lots of mathematical conversations.”
24. What does the underlined word “deter” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. Trouble. B. Surprise. C. Stop. D. Teach.
25. Why are some mathematicians mentioned in the text?
A. To show their influence on the two girls.
B. To prove the two girls’ achievements are great.
C. To explain their proof of Pythagoras’ theorem.
D. To point out their different views of the theorem.
26. What is Jackson’s wish?
A. More students will take part. B. Discovering another five proofs.
C. Becoming a great mathematician. D. Their proofs will be used in teaching.
27. What does Lozano-Robledo think of Jackson and Johnson’s proofs?
A. They still need to be improved.
B. They are the first trig-based proofs.
C. They disagree with the Pythagorean theorem.
D. They could lead to further mathematical discoveries.
C
For millions of years, our early ancestors traveled across this planet, a world full of danger. They survived by sharing their needs, emotions, fears, and desires with one another. Amazingly, they achieved this through the use of nonverbal communication such as body movements, facial expressions and other physical signals. This ability has become part of our biological nature. Even today, we still communicate nonverbally.
Luckily for us, we evolved this nonverbal communication system. It lets us immediately communicate how we feel and what we sense. If not for this, we might not notice that a room is dangerously hot until it is too late. If we had to stop and think, even for a few seconds, at every dangerous encounter (imagine a snake by your leg), we would have died out. Instead, our bodies are built to react to threats right away, without needing time to think.
This system also immediately communicates to others around us. Just as our brain forces us to stand still when we see a dog or other large animals, it also communicates to others instantly, through our bodies, whether we are comfortable or uncomfortable, content or discontent, safe or unsafe.
The benefit is twofold (双重的)—we react to the world around us and others benefit from our early reactions. For example, taste something sour, and everyone around you will know from your expression; they don’t need to taste it themselves. Quick and reliable, body language communicates what is most important.
And it is not just about survival or threats. Our brain also shows our intentions. This is why when you are talking to someone you like and suddenly you notice that one of his feet points toward his car or a lift, you know that the person probably needs to go. Because he is running late, the leg movements show that something urgent (紧急的) is pressing even though the person continues the conversation. That is why we say when it comes to communication, body language is more truthful than the spoken word.
28. What does paragraph 2 mainly stress about nonverbal communication?
A. Its importance in settling conflicts. B. Its connection to specific emotions.
C. Its role in warning people of danger. D. Its ability to gather information.
29. Why does the author mention the sour taste example?
A. To show people’s real response to food.
B. To advise people to observe others carefully.
C. To explain body language passes information immediately.
D. To prove facial expressions differ from person to person.
30. What is the author’s purpose in the last paragraph?
A. People often hide their true feelings in daily talks.
B. Body movements can show people’s true thoughts.
C. Human speech still needs improvement.
D. Everyone should be mindful of their own gestures.
31. Where does the text probably come from?
A. A science magazine. B. A research plan.
C. A book review. D. A business report.
D
“When I was 13 years old, I got lost on a hike, and I was lost for two and a half days,” said David. “I’m still bad at finding my way around now.” The world is full of people like David—and their opposites who always seem to know exactly where they are and how to get where they want to go. While it’s easy to show people differ in navigational (导航的) ability, it’s harder for scientists to explain why.
Recently, an experiment led by Hugo Spiers, a scientist at University College London, shed light on the question. Hugo and his colleagues developed a game for cellphones, in which players navigate by boat through a virtual environment to locate a series of checkpoints. Through the app, the researchers were able to measure navigational ability by the total distance each player traveled to reach all the checkpoints.
Several cultural factors were connected with navigational ability, they found. People fond of orienteering (定向越野) tended to be slightly better navigators, so did those from the countryside compared to city residents. Within cities, however, those from areas with more irregular street networks did better than those from cities with regular ones.
Results like these suggest that upbringing may be one of the biggest deciding factors of how well people navigate. Beyond that, researchers believe personality, too, appears to play a role. “To be good at navigating, you have to be willing to plot new courses,” said Hugo. “Some people do not enjoy the experience of wandering, and others enjoy it very much.”
This growing evidence indicates that early interests and experiences push some people to navigate, while those who dislike exploring or lack the chance to practice may avoid it. Therefore, David’s struggle isn’t just a personal failing, but likely the result of a combination of factors. While he may never become a master navigator, understanding the science behind his poor sense of direction at least takes some of the blame off his shoulders.
32. What does the underlined part “the question” in paragraph 2 refer to?
A. Why the boat game app is designed. B. How to locate a series of checkpoints.
C. How to improve the sense of direction. D. Why people vary in wayfinding ability.
33. What can be inferred about city residents according to the experiment?
A. They like outdoor activities. B. They may be poorer navigators.
C. They prefer regular road networks. D. They may be better at planning routes.
34. Which of the following contributes to good navigational ability?
A. Strong interest in exploring new places. B. A regular habit of physical exercise.
C. Active involvement in city walks. D. A childhood experience of getting lost.
35. What is a suitable title for the text?
A. The key to Finding Your Way B. The Science Behind Being Lost
C. The Role of Nature in Navigation D. The Lessons of Navigation Tests

High school students have a lot of choices for what they can do once the school day ends: they can study, do homework, participate in a sport, watch TV, work at a job, play video games, attend a club meeting and more. 36 Spending your time after school wisely can help you become better prepared for college and your future.
Students who participate in after-school activities often perform better in class compared to those who don't. A study conducted in 2021 showed that high school students attending after-school programmes are less likely to drop out, have better attendance records, and have a more positive attitude towards school. They also often have an increase in the standardized test scores. 37
After-school activities can also increase your chances of being accepted into college because you can include your participation on your college applications. 38 Participating in an after-school activity is a great way to show your interests and academic motivation(学术动力).
39 For example, if you are interested in being a doctor, you can be a part of your school’s Science Olympiad team or volunteer at a hospital. You can find one that matches your interests from many after-school activities available, and learn some skills through practice.
Most importantly, participating in after-school activities gives you an opportunity to spend time with your friends as well as make new ones. Your participation often means you have a shared interest, such as volunteering or playing a sport. 40
A. These activities are constructive and meaningful.
B. Colleges love to see students who are active in activities.
C. Moreover, you can realize your dreams through these activities.
D. Besides, you will learn new skills from after-school activities.
E. So participating in an after-school programme can raise your grades.
F. Some of these activities are more useful and productive than others.
G. That can make it easier to be friends because you have something in common.

Mrs Rhodes spoke as she walked to the front of the class. “Today, you need to select one of the famous figures from the blackboard for an oral report.” I cried out to myself, “How am I going to do this? I have to stand in front of the whole class and say something about a famous person loudly?”
I took a deep breath and read the list of names and persons on the blackboard. One name in the center of the board caught my attention. “It looks familiar. I saw his album(唱片) in my parents’ bedroom before.” I thought. That was going to be my choice.
Seated in the middle of the classroom, I couldn’t take my mind off that name. As Mrs Rhodes called on students to announce their selections, the only thought I had was, “Please don’t take mine.”
Finally, it was my turn. I breathed a sigh of relief. “Johannes Brahms.” I said. Right after the name came out of my mouth, a wave of worry washed over me, even though Mrs Rhodes looked at me with a kind and supportive nod.
Later that day, I sat in my living room and looked through my parents’ album collection. “Oh, thank goodness!” I shouted happily as I found an album of symphonic (交响乐的)compositions that included one of his pieces.
I played the album. Then classical music flowed throughout the house. “This is perfect.” Then I searched for the other items I needed for my report—a wooden stick, and a music stand(乐谱架). I came up with a creative way, acting as a conductor(指挥) before introducing him. In the following days, I used every spare second to prepare.
When the big day came, I had butterflies in my stomach as I waited for my turn to perform. Eventually, Mrs Rhodes called my name. She smiled and said, “Jill, you’re next.”
