Unit4 A better me
Wrap up&Let's explore 六课 (教学设计)
I. Teaching Aims
1. Students can review the key words and sentences of Unit 4 through the "Play to win" game.
2. Students can read and match famous quotes with their meanings, and understand the messages.
3. Students can work in pairs to find more words from famous people and make a bookmark.
4. Students can use the "Check it" checklist to evaluate their own learning progress.
II. Key and Difficult Points
Key points: Reviewing key vocabulary and sentence patterns (be going to, goals, wishes); reading and matching famous quotes; understanding the messages of the quotes.
Difficult points: Expressing ideas about famous quotes in complete sentences; making a creative bookmark with words from famous people.
III. Teaching Tools
Courseware, game board (printed), quote cards, textbook, blank bookmark paper, markers, pencil.
IV. Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Lead-in (5 mins)
Teacher draws a simple game board on the blackboard and asks students: "Do you remember what we learned in Unit 4? What words and sentences can you remember?" Students share freely. Teacher writes key words on the board: afraid, today, goals, wishes, be going to, etc.
[Purpose: To activate students' prior knowledge and review the unit topic naturally.]
Step 2 Play to win (15 mins)
Teacher shows the game board on the screen. Students work in groups of four. Each group rolls a dice and moves the piece. When they land on a square, they must answer the question or do the task. For example: "He's going to..." (students make a sentence), "What's your wish?" (students share), "Read the words: afraid, today" (students read aloud), "Who cuts a word into his desk?" (students answer: Lu Xun). Teacher walks around to help and give points.
[Purpose: To review unit vocabulary and sentences in a fun, competitive way while practising speaking.]
Step 3 Check it (5 mins)
Teacher asks students to open their books to page 48 and read the "Check it" section. Students read the three questions and think about their own answers: "I can talk about goals...", "I can make good plans...", "I know what I can do to be a better me." Students write one sentence for each question in their notebooks. Teacher collects a few to check.
[Purpose: To help students self-assess their learning and reflect on what they have achieved.]
Step 4 Read and match (10 mins)
Teacher shows page 49 and asks students to read the three famous quotes. Then students match each quote with its meaning (a. Keep going, b. Start by doing things small, c. It's OK to fail). After checking answers together, teacher asks: "Who said the first quote?" Students guess. Teacher reveals: Laozi. Then Einstein and Samuel Beckett. Teacher explains the meanings briefly in simple English.
[Purpose: To develop reading comprehension and expose students to famous quotes from different cultures.]
Step 5 Work in pairs & Make a bookmark (8 mins)
Teacher asks students to work in pairs and find one more word or sentence from a famous person (they can think of one or teacher writes a few on the board: "Where there is a will, there is a way." — Proverb). Each pair chooses one quote and writes it on a piece of paper cut into a bookmark shape. They can draw a small picture on it. Teacher walks around to help.
[Purpose: To practise writing and be creative while reviewing famous quotes.]
Step 6 Summary and homework (2 mins)
Teacher says: "Today we reviewed Unit 4 and read some wonderful quotes. Remember: keep going, start small, and don't be afraid to fail. That's how we become better!" Homework: Write 2 famous quotes in your notebook and draw a bookmark at home.
[Purpose: To consolidate the lesson and extend learning to home.]

六、教学反思
本节课通过"Play to win"游戏复习了单元重点词句,学生参与度较高,但个别后进生在快速抢答环节跟不上节奏,下次可提前发游戏卡片让他们预习。Read and match环节学生对名人名言理解有难度,今后可增加中文翻译辅助。Make a bookmark活动学生兴趣大,但部分学生画画花了太多时间,以后可限定时间或把画画环节放到课后。
