Unit4 A better me
Hit it big 第五课 (教学设计)
I. Teaching Aims
1. Students can think about their own wishes and express them using "I'm going to...".
2. Students can make a plan for their wishes and write simple sentences about how to achieve them.
3. Students can make a "wishing tree" poster and present their wishes and plans to the class.
4. Students understand the importance of having wishes and making plans to become better.
II. Key and Difficult Points
Key points: "I'm going to..." structure; wish-related vocabulary and phrases (get better at, eat healthily, do more exercise, read more books, learn to cook, etc.)
Difficult points: Making specific plans using "I'm going to..." with clear steps; organizing thoughts coherently when presenting to the class.
III. Teaching Tools
Courseware, pictures of wishes and activities, word cards, textbook, blank leaf-shaped paper, a large "wishing tree" poster, markers.
IV. Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Lead-in (5 mins)
Teacher shows a picture of a "wishing tree" on the screen and asks students: "What is this? Do you have any wishes? What do you want to be better at?" Students share their ideas freely. Teacher writes some example wishes on the board.
[Purpose: To activate students' prior knowledge and naturally lead in the topic of wishes.]
Step 2 Think and write (8 mins)
Teacher shows the example wishes on page 46 (e.g., "I am going to get better at English.", "Eat more vegetables", "Do more exercise", "Read more books", "Learn to cook", etc.). Students think about their own wishes, make a leaf-shaped paper, and write one wish on it using "I'm going to...".
[Purpose: To help students think about and express their personal wishes in writing.]
Step 3 Make a plan (10 mins)
Teacher shows the example on page 47: "How do I get better at English? 1. Listen to English songs; 2. Talk with others in English; 3. Read more English books..." Students make a plan for their own wishes and write down at least 3 steps. Teacher walks around to help students who need it.
[Purpose: To guide students to make concrete plans and practice writing complete sentences.]
Step 4 Make the wishing tree & Present (15 mins)
Students put their leaves with wishes and plans on the "wishing tree" poster. Then they tell the class about their wishes and plans: "I'm going to get better at English. I'm going to listen to English songs, talk with others in English, read more English books..." Teacher gives feedback and encourages students.
[Purpose: To provide a platform for students to practice speaking and share with classmates.]
Step 5 Summary and homework (2 mins)
Teacher summarizes: "Having wishes is good. Making plans helps us achieve them. Let's work hard to be better!" Homework: Draw your wishing tree at home and write 3 more wishes with plans.
[Purpose: To consolidate the lesson content and extend learning to home.]

六、教学反思
本节课通过"wishing tree"活动激发了学生的表达兴趣,大部分学生能用 I'm going to... 句型说出愿望和计划。但个别后进生在写计划环节词汇量不足,句子写不完整,下次可提前准备更多句型支架卡片,降低写作难度。展示环节时间略紧,部分学生没机会上台,今后适当压缩前面活动时长,保证展示环节更充分。
