Difficult points: Distinguishing the sounds of "ai" and "ay"; understanding the listening passage about Julia's sports achievements; using "I'm going to..." to express plans to try new things confidently. III. Teaching Tools Multimedia courseware, chant audio, Julia's picture and sports cards, word cards (afraid, may, fail, start, try), textbook, listening worksheet. IV. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Warm-up (5 mins) Sing a song about sports or do a quick PE action game (jump, run, swim, etc.). T: "Do you like sports? What sports can you do?" Ss answer briefly. [Purpose: Activate students' prior knowledge about sports and prepare for the topic of trying new things.] Step 2 Chant learning (10 mins) 1. Play the chant "Try it out!" for Ss to listen and get the general idea. 2. T shows the chant on screen and reads it slowly. Ss repeat after T. 3. Clap the rhythm together. Ss read in groups, then all together. 4. Ask Ss: "Which words have the same sound?" Guide them to find "ai" in afraid and "ay" in may. [Purpose: Develop listening and pronunciation through chanting; introduce the phonics focus naturally.] Step 3 Phonics practice (5 mins) 1. T writes "ai" and "ay" on the board. Ss read the example words: afraid, may. 2. T asks Ss to think of more words with "ai" (e.g. rain, wait, sail) and "ay" (e.g. day, say, play). 3. Quick game: T says a word, Ss shout "ai" or "ay". [Purpose: Reinforce the phonics pattern through listening, speaking and a fun game.] Step 4 Listening (10 mins) 1. Tell Ss: "Now let's listen about a girl named Julia." Play the audio for the first time. Q: "What sports does Julia do?" Ss answer: running and swimming. 2. Play again. Ss circle the correct answers in Exercise 4. Answers: 1. running 2. water 3. 100 4. 50-metre 3. Check answers together. T explains any new words (e.g. record, age group). [Purpose: Train listening for gist and detail; introduce new vocabulary in context.] Step 5 Pair work & summary (8 mins) 1. T models the conversation: "What are you going to try?" I'm going to try skiing. 六、教学反思 本节课通过韵律诗导入，学生兴趣较高，chant的韵律感强，大部分学生能跟上节奏朗读。语音环节ai/ay的区分对中等生来说不难，但后进生容易混淆，下次可增加更多对比词操练。听力部分Julia的故事信息量较大，部分学生圈选时跟不上，下次可先带读一遍关键词再听。Pair work环节学生参与度较好，但有个别学生不敢开口，下次可先多示范几组，降低输出难度。 学科网（北京）股份有限公司 $
