第一节(满分15分)
66. Dear Mike,
I'm thrilled to hear that you're coming to our school as an exchange student. A warm welcome awaits you here. I understand that it is challenging to adapt to a new environment, so here are a few suggestions that might help you settle in quickly.
First of all, it's important to actively participate in classroom activities, which will help you better understand and grasp the knowledge. And don't be afraid to reach out to your teachers and classmates for help if you need it. Joining a club is also a great way, because you will meet new friends and become more involved in the school community.
I wish you all the best during your stay here. Looking forward to your arrival!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
第二节(满分25分)
As they were walking out, I heard they were all laughing at me. Their shrill laughing let me blush with shame. I felt so embarrassed that I couldn't do anything but sit there, keeping my body unmoved and holding back my tears. What I wanted to do was just to make friends with them. I couldn't figure out why they laughed at me. But one thing was certain, that was, I must remove myself from their presence. Therefore, I wasn't ready to leave until they walked far away.
Before I was ready to go home, I heard a familiar voice calling my name. I felt very strange since I was new here without making any friends. Turning around, I saw Diane who came up to me with a warm smile on her face. She said she would walk together with me. What a kind and friendly girl she was, I thought. I was deeply moved so that I left all my embarrassment and sadness behind. On our way home, we talked a lot and I was surprised to find we had a lot in common. I also realized the true meaning of a friend.

Travel is like a box of chocolates—you never know what youˈre going to get, especially when you are using a blind box plane ticket.
Fan Zhihua, who enjoys going wherever she wants and whenever she wants, bought her first blind box plane ticket in March 2024. She went to Zhangye, Gansu Province. Itˈs a lesser-known place, but it actually brings surprises.
When Fan arrived in Zhangye, she found that she was able to share a car with a few other people. This allowed the travellers to save money, since many of the areaˈs tourist places are far away from each other. So Fan found a group of easy-going young women to join. They went to some tourist attractions together, but everyone was free to choose their schedule. “The best part of the trip is this way of travelling, free and fantastic,” Fan said.
She got more from the trip. Before that, Fan thought most of the natural scenery in online photos was overly beautified. However, her trip to Dunhuang changed her mind.
After a couple of days in Zhangye, the group decided to leave for Dunhuang. Fan was never a big fan of making travel plans, so she just went along. Fan and her travel partners went on a camel ride, and as they entered the desert, she was amazed at the scenery. “I couldnˈt describe it in words. To be honest, Iˈm not a history lover, but when I was in the endless desert, it was amazing,” Fan said. “I felt like I had become Zhang Qian, travelling to the Western Regions.”
Fan believes that life itself is a journey made up of long and short trips. “I think I was brought into this world to have as many experiences as possible and that I should make every day meaningful,” she added.
24.What do we know about Fan Zhihua from the text?
A. She is a travel lover.
B. She often travels with tour groups.

D. She is good at making travel plans.
25.Which word can best describe Fanˈs trip to Zhangye?
A. Short. B. Tiring. C. Expensive. D. Wonderful.
26.What might Fan learn from her trip to Dunhuang?
A. Itˈs now or never. B. Seeing is believing.
C. Sharing makes the trip fantastic. D. Actions speak louder than words.
27.Why did Fan mention Zhang Qian?
A. To show her respect for him.
B. To introduce the story of Zhang Qian.
C. To express her amazement at the desert.
D. To explain the difficulty of the journey to the Western Regions.

Making exercise fun is a challenge for many people who struggle to find the motivation(动机) to work out. But rather than forcing yourself to enjoy running or that gym class you once attended, the solution may lie in something more straightforward—simply choosing exercises that fit your personality, according to a recent study published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology.
To reach their findings, the study's co-lead author, Flaminia Ronca, a professor in exercise science at University College London, and her co-workers first directed the 132 subjects, aged between 25 and 51 years old, to complete a questionnaire showing their personality types.
The study took a commonly used model that describes someone's personality, namely outgoing people, quiet worriers, kind helpers, curious explorers, and careful planners. The researchers then ran fitness tests on the subjects and put them into two groups. One group was given an eight-week biking plan, while the control group did 10 minutes a week of stretching(伸展) exercises. Of the 132 subjects, 86 completed both pre - and post-testing either side of these eight weeks.
The study team found that, although fitness improved across all personality types for those who completed the biking and stretching programmes, there was a marked difference in enjoyment of exercise. Outgoing people enjoyed the higher-intensity(强度) lab fitness tests, while quiet worriers enjoyed the home-based light-intensity workouts.
The study also showed how exercise affected people's stress levels based on their personality. People who scored high in neuroticism, meaning they feel more anxious, experienced a bigger drop in stress levels compared with other groups.
"I think that's quite a powerful message to give," Ronca said. Considering the many benefits of exercise, she hoped their findings would encourage people to find forms of exercise they enjoy, making it easier to stick to a fitness routine and to improve their fitness over time.
28.In what way were the two groups different in terms of research design?
A. Their age. B. Their hobby.
C. Exercise type. D. Health condition.
29.What did the study find about personality?
A. It drives people to achieve dreams.
B. It affects the enjoyment of exercise.
C. It shows similarities in certain ways.
D. It helps us complete more exercises.
30.What does Ronca intend to explain in the last paragraph?
A. The application of the findings.
B. The background of the experiment.
C. The direction of further research.
D. The arrangement for daily exercise.
31.Which is the most suitable title for the text?
A. The influence of exercise on personality
B. The benefits of the stretching programme
C. Giving you new motivation to exercise
D. Matching works to your personality

Going from middle school to high school can be difficult, as students are faced with new academic (学业的) and social challenges. Before the first day of high school, there are things every soon-to-be high school freshman and their families should know.
People who have a fixed (固定的) mindset believe that they are born to be great or weak. On the other hand, people that have a growth mindset believe that their greatness or weakness is because of their own actions. I totally agree that students should have a growth mindset. I don’t expect any student to move from just passing a subject to an A+. It’s going to take time and focused effort; just keep working on it.
Parents should prepare students to fight the battle “on the pillow (枕头)” and “in the kitchen”. When I say “pillow” I mean sleep. Not having enough sleep can have some surprising effects on students, including improper behaviour, anxiety and poor grades. The second weapon (武器) is eating healthy and balanced meals. Studies show that students who eat nutritious meals and who exercise 60 minutes a day remain more attentive during the school day and experience improved academic achievement and grades. This last “secret” weapon is not to have over-scheduled time. Make sure students know how to set realistic plans and how to say no to tasks and activities that aren’t important to them.
A lot of students know each other from primary and middle school. They are in their “comfort zones”, feeling they have a sense of control over and expectation of their relationships. But with the first real day of high school coming, that will all change. The reason I encourage high school freshmen to step out of their comfort zones, though often scary, is that comfort zones get boring and there are many kinds of people to get to know. Let’s encourage them to get involved, have fun and play.
32.Which of the following represents (代表) a fixed mindset?
A. I’m at the starting point of my ability.
B. My mother is not good at chemistry either.
C. I should start studying a little earlier next time.
D. It’s okay if I fail; at least I’ve learned something.
33.What might the author encourage parents to do according to the passage?
A. To prepare healthy meals for their kids.
B. To praise their kids when they do well in school.
C. To take their kids to visit their grandparents often.
D. To buy soft pillows for their kids to have a good rest.
34.What is the third weapon mainly about?
A. Enjoying good health. B. Being able to say no.
C. Planning schedules properly. D. Balancing schoolwork and play.
35.Which one is the best title of the passage?
A. Making friends in high school
B. Academic challenges in high school
C. Differences between middle school and high school
D. Preparations for high school: what you need to know

Over the summer I moved from Texas to Missouri. This was my second year of high school, but my first year of school in Missouri. I was really nervous about starting a new school and having people like me. I decided that I would be much happier in a new school if I made friends that were so-called "popular". Getting in with the right group of people would make my life a whole lot better. I bought a new outfit so the first day would be perfect.
On the first day of school, scared, yet eager to begin my new life, I walked up the stairs. My first class was geometry, but where was that?I was standing in the hall looking confused, when a short, blond girl wearing glasses came up and asked, "Are you new?You look lost. Do you want me to help you find your class? My name is Diane. What's yours?" Even though she seemed a bit strange, definitely not the kind of person I wanted to be associated with, I decided to answer her anyway. I was, after all, lost.
After exchanging names, I followed her up the stairs and down a hallway on the right. When we reached my room she said, "Well, here you are. It was nice meeting you. I hope I see you again and your day goes all right."
I said a quick thank-you and waved good-bye. Once inside the classroom, I saw one big group of people huddled around someone who seemed to be telling some sort of story. I walked over and got close enough to overhear. All eyes were glued to the guy in the middle of the circle. I decided that this guy was popular.
A few minutes later the teacher told everyone to go find a seat and get ready for the class. I managed to get one right next to the guy. I said, "Hi, my name is April and I'm new here." He said coldly, "Hi, I'm Johnny." That class dragged on and on. Finally, the bell rang. I turned to him and asked, "I'm not sure where my next class is, could you help me find it?" He looked at me and then said a quick no, turned back to his friends, and walked out of the classroom.
