①When touching something hot, you pull your hand back fast, before your brain realizes the danger. This is called “withdrawal reflex” (撤回反射/屈反射). Our nerves send direct messages to our spinal cord instead of to the brain. And this action can protect us from getting hurt.
②But robots did not have such fast self-protection before. Old robot sensors (传感器) sent all information to their main computer. The main computer worked on the information and then told the motors (马达/驱动电机) what to do. So it would take some time for the motors to order the robots to move. Even a short wait may hurt the robot.
③Now Chinese scientists have made a special skin (皮肤) for robots. The special skin has sensors like human nerves, and robots with the special skin can have similar reflexes like humans’, and it doesn’t need to always wait for the main computer’s order. The skin sensors can send soft messages to the main computer to show “everything is OK”. But if it goes past the safety line, the skin reads it as “pain”. Then, it will send messages straight to the robot’s motors, and the robot pulls away at once. With the help of the special skin, the robot won’t get hurt easily.
④Another good thing about the skin is its Lego-like style. People use magnetic patches (磁力贴片) to make the special skin. If one part breaks, users can change it with a new patch in seconds. However, the skin still has some problems. For example, making this kind of skin is still expensive and it can only deal with one touch at a time.
⑤In the future, service robots will work in homes and hospitals. Scientists are still improving them for more uses.
32. What does the underlined word “this” refer to?
A. Realizing the danger.
B. Touching something hot.
C. Having the withdrawal reflex.
D. Getting orders from the brain.
33. How does the new skin protect the robot from getting hurt?
A. ② → ① → ③ B. ② → ③ C. ③ → ① → ② D. ③ → ②
34. What can we infer from the passage?
A. The special skin can fix itself when it gets hurt.
B. Scientists finished all improvements on the new skin.
C. The new skin can only sense strong and harmful touches.
D. Robots with this skin will work more safely with people.
35. According to the passage, what will you do next if you are the developer of the new skin?
A. Give up magnetic patches and use other materials for the skin.
B. Try to let the skin deal with different touches at the same time.
C. Put the new skin on all robots and use it widely at once.
D. Make the main computer send orders to the robot’s motors.
【答案】32. C 33. C 34. D 35. B
【解析】
【分析】本文主要介绍机器人新型特殊皮肤,它拥有类似人类的反射功能,可以保护机器人免受伤害,这种皮肤采用乐高式结构,但目前仍存在不足,科学家仍在持续改进。

【33题详解】
根据第三段原文“The skin sensors can send soft messages to the main computer to show ‘everything is OK’. But if it goes past the safety line, the skin reads it as ‘pain’. Then, it will send messages straight to the robot’s motors, and the robot pulls away at once.”,内容可知,工作流程为:皮肤传感器③接收信号,直接向马达驱动电机①发送信息,机器人随即撤离②。
【34题详解】
根据第三段原文“With the help of the special skin, the robot won’t get hurt easily.”,可知配备这款特殊皮肤的机器人和人一起工作时会更加安全。
【35题详解】
根据第四段原文“For example, making this kind of skin is still expensive and it can only deal with one touch at a time. Scientists are still improving them for more uses.”,可知研发人员下一步会尝试让这块皮肤能够同时处理多种触碰。

VI. 任务型阅读。(1-3每小题2分,4题3分,共10分)
阅读下文并回答问题。
The Long March is an important part of Chinese history. Long ago, the Red Army took a difficult journey across mountains and rivers. People still value this special experience today. We can find its importance in many parts of our life.
Mao Zedong wrote the poem “The Long March” (长征) in October 1935, near the end of the Long March — a hard journey of two years.
The Red Army (红军) is not afraid of the hard March,
Ten thousand rivers and mountains seem small.
The Five Ridges (五岭) are like gentle waves;
Great Wumeng is like a ball of clay (泥土).
The Golden Sand River beats the cliffs (悬崖);
The iron chains (铁链) of Luding Bridge are cold.
They happily cross Minshan’s snow;
When the three Armies meet, every face is bright.
The Red Army failed more than once, but at last they won. Today the poem is still read by lots of Chinese students.
Our school newspaper interviewed Wang Bing, aged 93. His father was a soldier (军人) in the Long March.
Reporter: What do you remember about your father?
Wang: He talked a lot about the snow mountains. The soldiers wore thin clothes and straw sandals (草鞋). Some of them fell asleep in the snow and never woke up.
Reporter: Did he want to give up?
Wang: Never. They almost failed, but everyone kept going. He said, “When you cannot walk any more, take one more step.” So he reached northern Shaanxi.
Reporter: What did you learn from him?
Wang: Courage (勇气) is built step by step. And the long dark nights will be over one day.
When China named its first rocket family “Long March” in the 1960s, it sent more than metal (金属) into the sky. It sent a spirit.
The road to space was as hard as the Long March. In July 2017, the Long March 5 failed. Hundreds of engineers worked day and night for over 900 days, until it flew successfully.
“Our ‘snow mountains’ are the technical (技术的) problems, and our ‘Luding Bridge’ is the launch pad (发射台),” one engineer said, “We never stopped, and the march goes on.”
41. Was Wang Bing himself a soldier on the Long March?
___________________________________________________________
42. How long did the engineers work on the Long March 5 after it failed in 2017?

43. What is the “Long March” spirit from the three examples?

Did you ever meet someone who looked confident even before they spoke? Confidence isn’t something you’re born with. You can learn it. But how?
In fact, your body sends messages all the time. When you use confident body language, over time, it can help you feel more confident too.
First, start with your posture (姿势). Keep your back straight and shoulders relaxed. When you walk, move steadily (平稳地) and naturally. Rushing can make you look nervous (紧张的), while natural movements show that you feel calm and in control.
Your hands also say a lot about how confident you feel. Keep them relaxed, and don’t put them in your pockets. When you shake someone’s hand, make it friendly. Smile naturally, and hold the hand for about three seconds before letting go.
Eye contact (接触) is another key. Look at the person to show that you’re listening. But remember, it’s impolite to stare (盯着看) at him all the time—just meet his eyes sometimes.
There are some other little things you can do when you listen. Turning your body towards the speaker is also good, because it can show that you are interested. You can nod or shake your head when hearing others’ ideas as it shows your full attention (关注).
Confidence isn’t just something you feel outside. As your body begins to look confident, your mind often starts to believe it too!
Many people believe confidence is something you are born with. In fact, you can build confidence through ____66____. It can tell others that you are sure of yourself. Lots of people enjoy delicious Chinese food. But do you know medicated diet, also called food therapy (疗法)? It is a special kind of food with Chinese herbs (草药). It not only tastes good, but also helps people stay healthy.
Medicated diet has a very long history in China. Around 3500 years ago, ancient Chinese found some food could keep people away from illness. People called this idea “medicine and food share the same source”. In the Zhou Dynasty, there were special doctors called “dietitians”.

The Five Ridges (五岭) are like gentle waves;
Great Wumeng is like a ball of clay (泥土).
The Golden Sand River beats the cliffs (悬崖);
The iron chains (铁链) of Luding Bridge are cold.
They happily cross Minshan’s snow;

First, you should keep good posture. Besides, put your hands outside and shake hands kindly. What’s more, you don’t need to stare at others when talking. Instead, ____67____. Also, when you listen, you can use some body language to show your ____68____.
In a word, if you follow the suggestions above, you may look confident. More importantly, ____69____.
