Unit 3 Our animal friends Part B Let’s learn第五课 (教学设计） Part 1 Teaching Objectives 1. Knowledge objects: Ss can listen, say and read the words panda, monkey, tiger, elephant and lion. 2. Ability objects: Ss can use “What’s this? It’s a / an …” to talk about the animals at the zoo. 3. Emotional objects: Ss like animals and learn to care for them. Part 2 Teaching Key & Difficult Points Key points: the five animal words and the sentence “What’s this? It’s a …”. Difficult points: use “an” before elephant; the pronunciation of tiger and elephant. Part 3 Teaching Tools PPT, animal pictures, word cards, a recorder and a few toy animals. Part 4 Teaching Procedures Step 1 Warm-up (5 mins) 1. T greets the class and plays some animal sounds to catch their attention. 2. T shows a picture of a zoo and says “Let’s go to the zoo!” to lead in. [Teaching Purpose] To wake up Ss’ interest and bring them into the zoo topic. Step 2 Presentation (12 mins) 1. T shows the animal pictures one by one and teaches: panda, monkey, tiger, elephant, lion. 2. T points to the big animal and says “What’s this? It’s an elephant.” to show “an”. 3. Ss listen and repeat, then read the words in groups and rows. [Teaching Purpose] To help Ss learn the new words and feel when we use a or an. Step 3 Practice (10 mins) 1. Guessing game: T covers part of a picture, Ss guess “What’s this? It’s a …”. 2. Ss do the chant together with actions: “What’s this? It’s an elephant…”. 3. Ss read the chant in pairs and show it to the class. [Teaching Purpose] To practise the words and sentence in a fun way and train their speaking. Step 4 Production (8 mins) 1. In groups, Ss put the toy animals on the desk and ask each other “What’s this?” 2. Some pairs come to the front to act out the dialogue. [Teaching Purpose] To let Ss use the language in a real talk and build their confidence. Step 5 Summary (3 mins) T and Ss read the five words and the sentence again. T tells Ss we should love animals. [Teaching Purpose] To review what we have learned today. Step 6 Homework (2 mins) 1. Read the words and the chant to your parents. 2.
