三、阅读理解(共两节,满分30分)
第一节 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中,选出最佳选项。(共10小题;每小题2分,满分20分)
A
In April 2021, China sent the first module of its space station into space. The station is called Tiangong, which means "Heavenly Palace". It travels around the Earth at a height of about 400 kilometres and goes round our planet about sixteen times a day.
Tiangong is made up of several modules. The first one, Tianhe, is the main living and working area. In 2022, two more modules, Wentian and Mengtian, were added. Together they form a T-shaped station. Inside, astronauts can do many experiments that cannot be done on Earth, because there is almost no gravity.
The station is also a classroom. In 2022, astronaut Wang Yaping gave a science class from space to millions of students on Earth. She showed how water turns into a floating ball and how a small "ice" ball can be made in space. For many children, that class was the first time they felt that space was not so far away.
( )26. What does "Tiangong" mean?
A. Heavenly Palace. B. Bright Star. C. Big House. D. Blue Sky.
( )27. How often does the station go round the Earth?
A. Once a day. B. Sixteen times a day. C. Sixteen times a month. D. Four hundred times a day.
( )28. What is Tianhe?
A. A space classroom. B. A kind of rocket. C. A module for living and working. D. A telescope.
( )29. Why can some experiments only be done in space?
A. Because there is no water. B. Because it is colder. C. Because it is darker. D. Because there is almost no gravity.
( )30. What is the best title for the passage?
A. A Class in Space. B. How to Build a Rocket. C. Tiangong: China's Space Station. D. Wang Yaping's Life.
B
On 15 May 2021, a Chinese rover (火星车) named Zhurong landed on Mars. The name comes from an ancient Chinese god of fire, because Mars is often called the "red planet". Zhurong became the first Chinese rover to work on another planet.
The rover is about 1.85 metres tall and weighs 240 kilograms. It has six wheels and four solar panels (太阳能板). The panels turn sunlight into electricity, which is used to move the rover and to run its cameras and machines. Zhurong moves very slowly — only about 40 metres an hour.
Zhurong's main job is to study the soil, rocks and weather on Mars. It has sent back many photos and useful facts. Scientists hope that what Zhurong finds will help us understand whether life could ever have existed on Mars. More Chinese missions to Mars will be sent in the years to come.
( )31. When did Zhurong land on Mars?
A. In 2019. B. In 2020. C. In 2021. D. In 2022.
( )32. Why was the rover named Zhurong?
A. Because Mars is red. B. Because it is made of fire. C. Because it is very hot. D. Because it moves fast.
( )33. How fast does Zhurong move?
A. About 240 metres an hour. B. About 40 metres a minute. C. About 40 metres an hour. D. About 1.85 metres an hour.
( )34. What is Zhurong's main job?
A. To find water on Mars. B. To study the soil, rocks and weather on Mars. C. To build a space station. D. To take people to Mars.
( )35. What will happen in the years to come?
A. More Chinese missions to Mars will be sent. B. Zhurong will come back to Earth. C. People will live on Mars. D. The rover will stop working.

China is building a special telescope called Xuntian. Unlike the famous Hubble telescope, Xuntian will not work alone in space. It will fly near China's space station, so astronauts can repair it and bring it new parts.
Xuntian has a huge camera — about 300 times larger than the one on Hubble. It will take photos of billions of stars and galaxies (星系). Scientists will use these photos to study how the universe began and how it is changing.
