In high school, she was bullied. After college,it was difficult to find a job.But through all
the difficult times,Collette Divitto, has had one thing that makes her happy:baking.Divitto, who
has Down syndrome(唐氏综合征),decided to channel her passion into a career, opening her own
cookie company.
"So actually,I always loved baking,since I was 4 years old.From high school,I had been
taking baking classes,"said Divitto,31."It was a hard time for me.I had no friends.I didn't have a
social life.I got bullied.I got picked on.And that's why I had been taking baking classes."
After high school,Divitto went to Clemson University in South Carolina, but after

Collettey's Cookies helps people with disabilities prepare for their careers,by offering workshops
and guidance.
In 2020,just 17.9%of people with a disability were employed. But Divitto believes many
want to work, federal law does not require employers to pay them minimum wage. That means
companies can pay people with disabilities whatever they think they're worth-something Divitto
is working to change.
She has appealed to society to help create more jobs for people with disabilities, which she
hopes gets the attention of Congress.Collettey's Cookies now has 15 employees, and about half of
them are people with disabilities. And they have a strong leader to look up to."No matter who you
are,you can make a great difference in this world,"Divitto said."Don't let people bring you

In the depths of the French Guianese rainforest, there still remain unusual groups of
indigenous()people.Surprisingly,these people live largely by their own laws and their own
social customs. And yet, people in this area are in fact French citizens because it has been a colony
of the French Republic since 1946.In theory, they should live by the French law. However, their
remote locations mean that the French law is often ignored or unknown, thus making them into an
interesting area of"lawlessness"in the world.
The lives of these people have finally been recorded thanks to the effects of a Frenchman
from Paris called Gin.Gin spent five months in early 2015 exploring the most remote corners of
this area, which sits on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, with half its population of only 250,000
living in its capital,Cayenne.
"I have a special love for the French Guianese people.I have worked there on and off for
almost ten years,"says Gin."I've been able to keep firm friendships with them. Thus I have been
allowed to gain access to their living environment.I don't see it as a lawless land. But rather I see
it as an area of freedom."
"I wanted to show the audience a photographic record touching upon the uncivilized life,"
continues Gin."I prefer to work in black and white, which allows me to show different specific
worlds more clearly.”
His black-and-white pictures present a world almost lost in time. These pictures show people
seemingly pushed into a world that they were unprepared for. These local citizens now have to
balance their traditional self-supporting hunting lifestyle with the lifestyle offered by the modern
French Republic, which brings with it not only necessary state welfare, but also alcoholism,
betrayal and even suicide.
28.Why does the author feel surprised about the indigenous people in French Guiana?
A.They seldom follow the French law.
B.They often ignore the Cuianese law.
C.They are separated the modern world.
D.They are both Cuianese and French citizens.
29.Gin introduced the special world of the indigenous Guiana as
A.a tour guide
B.a geographer
C.a film director
D.a photographer
30.What is Gin's attitude towards the lives of indigenous Guianese?
A.Cautious.
B.Doubtful.
C.Uninterested
D.Appreciative.
31.What does the underlined word"it"in the last paragraph refer to?
A.The modern French lifestyle.
B.The self-supporting hunting.
C.The uncivilized world.
D.The French Republic.

Most people naturally trust doctors, assuming their expertise is rooted in years of treating real
patients.Imagine a doctor who had never actually examined a human body, acquiring knowledge
only from millions of medical texts.Although their explanations might still sound convincing, you
are bound to question their genuine understanding.
Yet,we rarely apply this distrust to Large Language Models (LLMs)like Deepseek when
seeking medical advice. We are often misled by their fluent responses, assuming they comprehend
complex issues as humans do.This raises a critical question:Do these models truly reason ()
or do they merely imitate human reasoning? To find it out,my colleagues and I conducted
experiments comparing how humans and LLMs perform differently when faced with tasks
requiring judgments.
We presented both humans and LLMs with news headlines and moral dilemmas. When
checking if a piece of news is true, humans tend to rely on common sense, basic facts, and
real-world experience. However,LLMs simply check their massive database of input texts to see
how often certain words appear together in specific contexts.A similar difference appeared in
moral questions.Humans decide right and wrong based on social rules and feelings. In contrast,
models merely copy the language patterns they have"read"before. In a word, humans understand
the real world, whereas LLMs just piece together words from their input.
Across the tasks,a consistent pattern emerges:where a human judges,a model correlates.This
creates what we call"epistemia"-a dangerous misconception where the imitation of knowledge
looks exactly like true understanding. The real danger is that models cannot form beliefs or tell the
difference between what is actually true and what merely sounds reasonable.
What should a reader do with this knowledge? Our advice is to seek a clearer understanding of
what they can and cannot do,treating them as helpful assistants requiring constant human
oversight ()because they lack access to what judgment ultimately depends on:the world
itself.
32.Why does the author mention"a doctor"in Paragraph 1?
A.To emphasize the expertise of LLMs.
B.To present the distrust from patients.
C.To outline the medical training process.
D.To introduce the potential issue of LLMs.
33.What did the researchers aim to figure out?
A.How fluently LLMs can answer questions.
B.What helps people handle moral dilemmas.
C.Whether LLMs possess reasoning ability.
D.Why people blindly follow medical advice.
34.How do LLMs deal with tasks requiring judgments?
A.By connecting with human feelings
B.By imitating linguistic patterns.
C.By relying on firsthand experience.
D.By applying basic social rules.
35.What does the author advise users to do regarding LLMs?
A.Keep a clear awareness of their limits.
B.Leave ultimate judgments to them.
C.Provide them with real-world access.
D.Treat them as engines of understanding.
第二节阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。(满分12.5分)
I've discovered that developing strong family bonds doesn't happen by accident.36
Here's what I've learned about strengthening those all-important ties.
First of all, regular communication is absolutely key.You can't develop a deep connection
with someone if you're not regularly sharing your thoughts and feelings with them.Make it a point
to have daily conversations with each member of your family, even if it's just a quick chat over
breakfast or a text message during the day.37
Another crucial aspect is spending quality time together as a family. This doesn't mean you
need to plan luxurious outings or vacations.Simple activities like cooking dinner together, playing
board games on a rainy afternoon,or going for evening walks can do wonders for bringing the
family closer together.
38.Everyone has their own interests and passions-recognizing this fact enriches
our relationships rather than distancing us from one another.Encourage your family members to
pursue their hobbies and support them in their endeavors.
Practicing forgiveness comes in at number four on my list of tips.39.It's how we
deal with the conflicts that truly matters.Harboring anger divides families while forgiving brings
us back together.
Finally, let me tell you about the power of traditions.40
Be it celebrating holidays
in special ways or having unique bedtime rituals, traditions create shared memories that every
member cherishes deeply.
Whether you're a parent, grandparent,or sibling,I'm confident these tips can help you
strengthen your family bonds. It's not always an easy process but the rewards are truly
immeasurable!
A.They act like glue holding families together.
B.The important thing is that everyone feels heard and understood.
C.Respecting each other's individuality also plays an essential role.
D.Intentional behaviors don't ensure harmony among family members.
E.Setting strict rules for screen time ensures healthier family interactions
F.It's a result of consistent efforts, shared experiences, and respect for each other.
G.Disagreements will unavoidably arise within families since humans make errors.

I knew exercise is good for health-who doesn't?But 41 were easier.Running bored me,
biking sounded risky, and the gym seemed too much to handle. Each offered me a reason to 42 it,
so I did.
When I worked in Kenya,I came to realize that people there don't"43"the way I had thought.
Instead,they move-with a clear 44 in mind.They move to reach a destination.They move to hunt
and to tend crops. There is no such thing as a 45,but they are working out 24-7.Maybe I could
take 46 from these people and add meaning to my exercising. So,I launched my 47 program:
"chicken-cising,"with 15 baby chicks and a book on 48 backyard chickens.
It turned out that caring for the flightless birds was quite 49a full-body workout involving
bending,squatting ()weightlifting and running around.One weekend,my e-watch 50 as
many as 145 squats and 10,506 steps!
I ended up in better shape than expected and found extra 51 that no gym workout can provide
First,quitting is not a(n)52:You can't put on your "chicken-cise"clothes,sit for a while,and then
simply decide not to 53,especially when your feathered friends depend on you to survive.Second,
you have unbeatable workout partners, who 54 respond to your appearance with encouragement.
Bah-Baaaahh!What's more?Fresh-from-the-hen eggs!
Turning every breakfast into a celebration of my new lifestyle with the best eggs,
"chicken-cising"taught me that movement doesn't need a gym-it needs 55.

第二节在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。(满分15分)
When I first watched a Chinese movie,I found Chinese sounded 56 beautiful that I
decided to learn it.After applying for a language program 57
(intend)for beginners,I
began my journey of learning in Beijing.
At first,everything went well.But soon,challenges arrived.One day,a neighbour smiled at
me and asked,"Have you eaten?"I understood it as a real question,so I answered seriously,"Not
yet.Are you going to treat me to a meal?"The neighbour looked surprised and quickly waved her
hand, which made me 58 (terrible)embarrassed. With too many embarrassing situations
like this,I felt it was 59 (likely)that I would ever master Chinese.
Just as I wanted to give up,my Chinese tutor offered generous help. She told me language
cannot
60 (separate)from culture. She explained that language is far more than
61
(describe)words and simple sentences;instead,it carries meaning, context and habits
of daily life,
62 (reflect)people's observations of nature and life.Later,we discussed
traditions and stories behind idioms and daily customs, such as why Chinese people often greet
each other with "Have you eaten?"instead of"How are you?".Gradually,I realized that even if I
could understand every word,I still might not understand 63 people say certain things in
certain ways.
My journey teaches me a vital lesson:language is the carrier of culture.64 cultural
awareness, communication stays empty.Language and culture are inseparable, and that
65 (recognise)makes all the difference.
第四部分任务型阅读(共两节,共20分)
Our science teacher,Mr.Clark, announced a team experiment competition.I was paired with
Emma, the quietest girl in class. To be honest, this pairing was a bit disappointing to me because
she rarely spoke in discussions.
We chose a chemistry project about plant growth.Emma suggested using classical music as a
variable(变量),which surprised me.“Plants can't hear!,I argued,but she showed me research
articles.I put aside my doubts and agreed to try.
The first week was tough for me.While I rushed through measurements,Emma carefully
recorded every detail in her notebook. When our first seedlings()died,I wanted to give up,
but she calmly said,“Mistakes are data too.”
One afternoon,I found Emma alone in the lab, experimenting with different light settings.
Seeing how patient she was,I finally understood her strengths. From then on,we combined our
skills-my speed and her exactness.
Two weeks later, when we entered the lab and finished measuring the seedlings,we were
delighted to find that the seedlings exposed to classical music had grown 15 percent taller. We had
made it!We hugged each other joyfully. We looked forward to our presentation the next day, fully
confident that we would impress all judges and win the grand prize
