拓展阅读(课内同源 + 课外同源)
Passage 1(课内同源:Adding some colour)
Leah is only five years old, but she has been seriously ill all her life. She has to go to Sunshine Hospital again and again for X-rays and treatment.
“Most of the time she was in great pain,” says her mum. “But colouring helped her get through it.” One day, while she was waiting for her treatment, Leah noticed something. The crayons in the waiting room could only be used once, because they might carry viruses. The hospital couldn’t afford to buy enough new crayons for every young patient, so many children felt disappointed when they found no crayons left.
Leah didn’t want other young patients to feel the same disappointment. “I’m afraid you’ll have to draw a grey butterfly,” she said to a little boy one day. Then she made a plan: she would buy 500 boxes of crayons for the hospital.
But Leah was in a wheelchair, and because of her illness, she couldn’t even make pocket money by doing housework. It might sound impossible, but Leah didn’t give up. With the help of her family and friends, she held many activities to raise money. The news spread fast, and Leah’s story went public soon.
So far, she has collected 2,675 boxes of crayons — far more than she planned! The waiting room is now filled with brighter pictures and happier children. A small act of kindness has brought colour and hope to many people.

Passage 2(课外同源:A small helper in the library)
In a small town, there is an old library. Many old people like to read there, but they often have trouble finding the books they want, because the words in the books are too small for them.
Tom is a twelve-year-old boy. He often goes to the library after school. One day, he noticed that an old man spent half an hour looking for a book without success. “Excuse me, can I help you?” Tom asked. He found the book for the old man, and the old man was very grateful.
That night, Tom had an idea. He asked his friends to join him, and together they made a “help desk” in the library. Every afternoon after school, one of them sits at the desk and helps people find books. They also make big-print book lists for old readers.
“It takes us only twenty minutes a day,” says Tom, “but it makes many people happy.” The librarian says the library is now filled with laughter. A small act of kindness has made the old library a warmer place.

任务四范文:Last winter, our class went to visit a children’s hospital. When we got there, we found that many sick children felt bored and sad. They had to stay in bed all day, and they had nothing interesting to do. I decided to lend a hand. I brought some of my old picture books and crayons, and I read stories to them and drew pictures with them. At first, they were too shy to talk, but soon they were laughing happily. One little girl even drew a bright rainbow for me. When we had to leave, the children’s parents said they were very grateful to us. I felt very happy and proud. From this experience, I have learnt that even a small act of kindness can make a big difference. A few hours of our time can help others get through a hard time and bring colour to their lives.
