It had belonged to her grandfather. The task of cleaning out the attic(阁楼) had seemed boring, but finding this journal turned it into an adventure. She opened it carefully. The first entry was dated July 1943. Her grandfather, just seventeen then, described his journey to the big city, seeking work to support his family. He wrote about the pressure he felt and the great loneliness. In one moving passage, he wrote about sharing his only piece of bread with a homeless dog, noting, “His gratitude made me feel less alone in this world.” As Sarah read deeper, she saw the growth of the young boy into the wise man she had known. The entries changed from stories of struggle to stories of building a life — meeting her grandmother, starting a family. She found a pressed four-leaf clover(三叶草) between the pages of the entry marking her father’s birth. With every page, Sarah felt a deeper connection to a grandfather she realized she had never fully known. The quiet man had once been a brave, lonely boy, a romantic young man, and a proud father. She had only known the last chapter of his life, but the journal gave her the whole story, helping her understand their relationship on a much deeper level. That evening, instead of continuing with the attic, Sarah sat down at her desk. She picked up a pen and a fresh notebook. On the first page, she wrote: “My story begins today, but perhaps one day, it will help someone else understand where they came from.” The past had been sorted; now, it was time to take down the present. 24. How did Sarah come across her grandfather’s journal? A. She was searching for it in the attic. B. Her grandfather had told her about it. C. She discovered it while cleaning the attic. D. She bought it from a second-hand store. 25. What did the early entries reveal about Sarah’s grandfather? A. He faced hardships and loneliness in his youth. B. He was a successful businessman from the start. C. He was born and raised in a large modern city. D. He had a dislike for animals in his younger days. 26. What does the underlined phrase “the whole story” in paragraph 4 refer to? A. The complete history of their family. B. The whole process of cleaning the attic. C. All the secrets her grandfather kept. D. The full life journey of her grandfather. 27. Which words can best describe the grandfather? A. Wealthy and famous. B. Strong-minded and caring. C. Strict and experienced. D. Adventurous and careless. C 25. A 26. D 27. 根据第一段的句子“The task of cleaning out the attic (阁楼) had seemed boring, but finding this journal turned it into an adventure.(清理阁楼的任务似乎很无聊,但找到这本日记把它变成了一次冒险。)” 根据第二段的句子“Her grandfather, just seventeen then, described his journey to the big city, seeking work to support his family. He wrote about the pressure he felt and the great loneliness. In one moving passage, he wrote about sharing his only piece of bread with a homeless dog, noting, “His gratitude made me feel less alone in this world.”(她的祖父当时只有17岁,他描述了自己到大城市找工作养家的旅程。他写到了他感受到的压力和巨大的孤独。在一篇感人的文章中,他写道,他与一只无家可归的狗分享了他唯一的一片面包,并指出,“他的感激之情让我在这个世界上感到不那么孤独。”)”可知,早期的记录体现了祖父经历的艰难与孤独。故选A项。 26. 根据上文的句子“The quiet man had once been a brave, lonely boy, a romantic young man, and a proud father. She had only known the last chapter of his life(这个安静的男人曾经是一个勇敢而孤独的男孩,一个浪漫的年轻人,一个骄傲的父亲。她只知道他生命的最后一章)”可知,前文列举祖父从“brave, lonely boy”到“romantic young man”“proud father”的完整人生历程,且划线词前一个分句提到Sarah只知道他生命的最后一章,再结合转折词“but”可知,the whole story指“祖父的全部人生旅程”。故选D项。 27. 推理判断题。第二段的句子“Her grandfather, just seventeen then, described his journey to the big city, seeking work to support his family. He wrote about the pressure he felt and the great loneliness. In one moving passage, he wrote about sharing his only piece of bread with a homeless dog, noting, “His gratitude made me feel less alone in this world.”(她的祖父当时只有17岁,他描述了自己到大城市找工作养家的旅程。他写到了他感受到的压力和巨大的孤独。在一篇感人的文章中,他写道,他与一只无家可归的狗分享了他唯一的一片面包,并指出,“他的感激之情让我在这个世界上感到不那么孤独。”)”体现了祖父的意志坚强(strong-minded)和体贴、关爱他人(caring)。第四段的句子“The quiet man had once been a brave, lonely boy, a romantic young man, and a proud father.(这个安静的男人曾经是一个勇敢而孤独的男孩,一个浪漫的年轻人,一个骄傲的父亲。)” C Susan Ringwood greets all guests with a simple invitation: to join her in swimming in cold water in the swimming pool. Her offer isn’t limited to the summer months, either. Ringwood and her husband Gary swim in cold water in the swimming pool all year round. “To me, it’s not just about swimming. It’s a unique experience” she says. Ringwood simply calls her hobby “swimming”, but some winter fans have begun to promote cold-water swimming as a treatment for a variety of diseases. While cold-water swimming is a newfound passion, scientists say that there’s not much evidence supporting the claims of these health benefits. Nor is the activity without risk. “Extreme temperature changes can potentially cause heart attacks, even death,” says Francois Haman, a scientist at the University of Ottawa in Canada. When your body meets cold water, it can be shocking. Scientists call this the “cold shock” response. When your skin senses the freezing water, it causes you to take a quick deep breath for air and your heart rate to rise quickly to a very high level, which leads to an increase in heart rate and blood pressure. Haman says that being in cold water is more dangerous than in cold air. Water conducts heat much more effectively than air, meaning that it can draw the heat from your body more quickly and efficiently. For those new to the sport, Haman suggests starting slowly, getting used to colder water during the fall, especially paying attention to safety. According to supporters, cold-water swimming can improve health and immunity (免疫力), and help relieve pain. But while there is some previous scientific research to support these claims, Denis Blondin, a professor at the University of Sherbrooke in Quebec, says that many of these studies included only a small number of people taking part in surveys who were mainly young men from European countries, which limits what scientists can say more broadly and in other populations. 28. Why does the author tell Ringwood’s story? A. To attract visitors to swimming. B. To introduce the topic of cold-water swimming. C. To call on guests to join Ringwood. D. To stress the benefits of swimming. 29. What is paragraph 4 mainly about? A. The “cold shock” response will cause heart rate to rise. B. Heart rate and blood pressure tend to increase in winter. C. Swimming in cold water can be a danger for some reason. D. Some preparations can be made before a cold-water swim. 30. What might Haman agree with according to the text? A. Staying in cold air is not as dangerous as in cold water. B. The benefits of cold-water swimming have been proved. C. Extreme temperature changes are dangerous but not deadly. D. Cold-water swimming isn’t suitable for those new to the sport. 31. What is Blondin’s attitude to previous research? A. Uncertain. B. Supportive. C. Uncaring. D. Doubtful. B 29. C 30. A 31. 根据第一段中的“Susan Ringwood greets all guests with a simple invitation: to join her in swimming in cold water in the swimming pool. Her offer isn’t limited to the summer months, either. Ringwood and her husband Gary swim in cold water in the swimming pool all year round. (苏珊·林伍德会用一个简单的邀请来迎接所有客人:和她一起在游泳池里进行冷水游泳。她的邀请也不仅限于夏季。林伍德和她的丈夫加里一年四季都在游泳池里进行冷水游泳。)”以及第二段中“Ringwood simply calls her hobby “swimming”, but some winter fans have begun to promote cold-water swimming as a treatment to a variety of diseases.(林伍德只是把她的爱好称为“游泳”,但一些冬季爱好者已经开始推广冷水游泳,称其可以治疗多种疾病。)” 根据第四段中的“When your body meets cold water, it can be shocking. Scientists call this the “cold shock” response. When your skin senses the freezing water, it causes you to take a quick deep breath for air and your heart rate to rise quickly to a very high level, which leads to an increase in heart rate and blood pressure.(当你的身体接触到冷水时,可能会让人感到震惊。科学家称之为“冷休克”反应。当你的皮肤感受到冰冷的水时,会让你快速深呼吸以获取空气,心率也会迅速升高到一个很高的水平,这会导致心率和血压上升。)”可知,该段主要解释了冷水游泳存在危险的一个原因——身体接触冷水时会产生“冷休克”反应,进而导致心率和血压升高,对身体造成负担。故选C项。 30. 细节理解题。根据第五段中的“Haman says that being in cold water is more dangerous than in cold air. Water conducts heat much more effectively than air, meaning that it can draw the heat from your body more quickly and efficiently.(哈曼说,处于冷水中比处于冷空气中更危险。水的导热性比空气好得多,这意味着它能更快、更有效地从你的身体中吸收热量。)”可知,哈曼认为待在冷空气中不如待在冷水中危险,即待在冷空气中的危险性更低。故选A项。 31. 根据第六段中的“But while there is some previous scientific research to support these claims, Denis Blondin, a professor at the University of Sherbrooke in Quebec, says that many of these studies included only a small number of people taking part in survey who were mainly young men from European countries, which limits what scientists can say more broadly and in other populations.(尽管之前有一些科学研究支持这些说法,但魁北克省舍布鲁克大学的教授丹尼斯·布朗丁表示,这些研究中的许多都只包含了少数受访者,且主要是来自欧洲国家的年轻男性,这限制了科学家在更广泛的人群和其他人群中得出更普遍的结论。)” D If you often exercise, there is a good chance for you to be more creative, according to a study of the links between physical activity and imagination. The study finds that active people come up with more and better ideas during tests of their inventiveness. It has been proved that physical activity influences our thinking. Many studies show that our brains go through changes in response to physical activity, for during exercise our brains take in more blood, oxygen and nutrients(营养物), thus producing more new brain cells than those who don’t exercise. In this way, exercise raises our moods(情绪) and is likely to improve our abilities to reason and remember. However, creativity is an abstract(抽象的) thinking skill, whose relationship with exercise has not been clear. Some past research suggested exercise does not directly affect creative thinking. To learn more about how being active could possibly affect creativity, researchers at the University of Graz tracked the normal activities of a group of healthy adults. They equipped these volunteers with activity trackers for five days. Then they asked them to visit the lab. The researchers then rated their output on its creativity and other measures. The volunteers also completed standardized questionnaires about their moods. The scientists found that the most active of the volunteers proved to be also the most creative, especially if they often walked or exercised properly. They are also likely to be in high spirits, although their moods were highest if they took part in energetic activities, rather than average ones. However, the link between activity, creativity and moods was light. This suggested that it was not improved moods, but physical activity, that had a greater influence on creativity. The study didn’t take people’s whole lives into account and cannot tell us how exercise and other activities might shape creativity, if not by raising moods. But the results do suggest that active imaginations start with active lives. 32. How does physical activity change our brains? A. By making more brain cells. B. By responding to thinking. C. By supplying more nutrients. D. By increasing blood pressure. 33. What does Paragraph 4 mainly focus on? A. The purpose of the study. B. The process of the study. C. The findings of the study. D. The subjects of the study. 34. What do we know from Paragraph 5? A. Those doing more energetic exercise are the most creative. B. People’s moods are closely connected with their creativity. C. Exercise plays a more important role in shaping creativity. D. Effortless physical activities make people more creative. 35. What is the most suitable title for the passage? A. Is Exercise Good for Your Mental Health? B. Can Exercise Make You More Creative? C. What Makes You More Imaginative? D. How Exercise Improves Your Mood? A 33. B 34. C 35. 根据第二段中“Many studies show that our brains go through changes in response to physical activity, for during exercise our brains take in more blood, oxygen and nutrients (营养物), thus producing more new brain cells than those who don’t exercise.( 许多研究表明,我们的大脑会对体育活动做出反应而发生变化,因为在锻炼过程中,我们的大脑会吸收更多的血液、氧气和营养,从而产生比不锻炼的人更多的新脑细胞)”可知,体育活动通过产生更多的脑细胞来改变我们的大脑。故选A项。 33. 根据第四段“To learn more about how being active could possibly affect creativity, researchers at the University of Graz tracked the normal activities of a group of healthy adults. They equipped these volunteers with activity trackers for five days. Then they asked them to visit the lab. The researchers then rated their output on its creativity and other measures. The volunteers also completed standardized questionnaires about their moods.(为了进一步了解活跃如何影响创造力,格拉茨大学的研究人员追踪了一组健康成年人的正常活动。他们给这些志愿者配备了5天的活动追踪器。然后他们请他们参观实验室。然后,研究人员根据他们的创造力和其他指标对他们的产出进行评级。志愿者还完成了关于他们情绪的标准化问卷)”可知,本段详细描述了研究过程,包括给志愿者配备活动追踪器、让他们访问实验室、对创造力和其他指标进行评分以及完成标准化情绪问卷等。因此,本段重点介绍了研究的过程。故选B项。 34. 推理判断题。根据第五段中“However, the link between activity, creativity and moods was light. This suggested that it was not improved moods, but physical activity, that had a greater influence on creativity. (然而,活动、创造力和情绪之间的联系并不紧密。这表明,对创造力有更大影响的不是情绪的改善,而是体育活动)”可推知,运动在塑造创造力方面发挥着更重要的作用。故选C项。 35. 主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第一段中“If you often exercise, there is a good chance for you to be more creative, according to a study of the links between physical activity and imagination. Green exercise is a term used to describe any type of physical exercise that takes place in a natural environment rather than in a health club or gym. 36 . Instead, it relies on the use of natural means of taking part in activities that improve strength and endurance with as little reliance on equipment as possible. 37 . For example, some consider a truly natural exercise experience requires that the individual wear clothing only made from natural fibers. Others consider barefoot running or walking with a big arena to be more desirable than running or walking with shoes. A slightly different approach to green exercise puts more stress on the fresh air, sunshine and involvement with the natural world, rather than the equipment or clothing used during the exercise. 38 . Similarly, climbing a mountain using standard equipment and protective clothing would also be considered a green exercise. Many consider green exercise helps to reconnect human beings with the natural world. Not everyone believes that the green exercise is more beneficial than working out in a health club or gym. 40 . Meanwhile, the use of fitness devices may result in more challenging workouts which help strengthen the heart and lungs in ways that more simplistic exercise in a natural setting would be difficult to manage. Green exercise includes a range of activities exposed to nature E. So riding a bicycle in the forest can be called a type of green exercise F. It usually doesn't use fitness equipment that is normally found in a gym G. Some point out that many health clubs are built to make full use of natural light 【答案】36. F 37. C 38. E 39. B 40. 36. 根据上文“Green exercise is a term used to describe any type of physical exercise that takes place in a natural environment rather than in a health club or gym.(绿色运动是一个术语,用于描述在自然环境中进行的任何类型的体育锻炼,而不是在健身俱乐部或健身房中。)” 因此,空格处应继续说明绿色运动与健身房运动的不同之处,F项“It usually doesn't use fitness equipment that is normally found in a gym (它通常不使用健身房里常见的健身器材)”符合文意,提到了“gym”,与上下文一致。故选F。 37. 根据后文“For example, some consider a truly natural exercise experience requires that the individual wear clothing only made from natural fibers. Others consider barefoot running or walking with a big arena to be more desirable than running or walking with shoes.(例如,一些人认为,真正自然的运动体验要求人只穿天然纤维制成的衣服。其他人则认为赤脚跑步或在大型竞技场上行走,比穿着鞋子跑步或行走更可取。)”从两个方面举例说明了两种不同的绿色运动方式。因此空格处总结性说明不同的人,对于什么是真正的绿色运动观点不同。C项“Opinions on what truly green exercise means differ (人们对什么是真正的绿色运动意见不一)”符合文意。故选C。 38. 根据后文“Similarly, climbing a mountain using standard equipment and protective clothing would also be considered a green exercise.(同样,使用标准设备和防护服爬山也将被视为绿色运动。)”表明什么样的锻炼会被视为绿色运动,由“Similarly,”可知,空格处也是在介绍绿色运动的类型,而E项中“can be called a type of green exercise”与后文中的“also be considered a green exercise”结构一致,都是在介绍绿色运动的类型,E项“So riding a bicycle in the forest can be called a type of green exercise (因此,在森林里骑自行车可以被称为一种绿色运动)”符合文意。故选E。 39. 根据前文“The interaction with nature helps to lower peoples’ blood pressure, refresh their mind, and actually improve their self-esteem.(与大自然的互动有助于降低人们的血压,更新他们的思维,并真正地提高他们的自尊。)” 40. 根据上文“Not everyone believes that the green exercise is more beneficial than working out in a health club or gym.(并非所有人都认为绿色运动比在健身俱乐部或健身房锻炼更有益。)” 因此,空格处也是在讲述健身俱乐部或者健身房的优点,G项“Some point out that many health clubs are built to make full use of natural light (一些人指出,许多健身俱乐部都是为了充分利用自然光而建的)”符合文意,其中的“many health clubs”与上文的“in a health club or gym”上下一致。 One day, an old postman knocked on the door of a house and said loudly, “Take the letter.” A little girl 41 “Coming! When I was too tired to make myself dinner, I’d just eat the kids’ leftover cereal(麦片粥). I thought this was a great plan to lose some weight and called it the “Cereal for Diet”. Back then, I knew nothing about nutrition. Of course, the Cereal for Diet failed, as did all my other attempts. One day, after cleaning up all the mess my kids had made, I went out for a walk. I passed a gym. I looked away. Healthy people went there, but this was not me. While turning away, I saw an ad for a six-month fitness challenge. I continued my fast walk in the opposite direction, but that sign just stayed on my mind. I still remember what finally motivated me to sign up for the challenge. It was a ten-minute period in which my son threw his spaghetti plate straight up, sending noodles and sauce flying everywhere. As soon as my husband got home, I said, “You’re in charge.” I made a beeline for the gym, marched straight in and said, “Fix me.” And I was assigned a young and fit trainer, Emily. She asked what my goals were for the six-month challenge. At that moment, I was speechless. Noticing my embarrassment, Emily just handed me the heaviest weights I had in my lift and said, “Okay, so in six months you will compete in a body-building show.” I tried explaining, “No. I don’t want to do a show. That sounds scary.” She ignored my fear, and we jumped into strict workouts and nutrition planning. Over the next six months, Emily forced me to focus on myself — my wants and my needs. I learned to see food as strength and sweat as progress. I learned how to fuel my body instead of starving it, balancing proteins, carbs and fats. Emily pushed me past my limits, correcting my form, timing my breaks, and cheering me on when I wanted to quit. I improved every day in the gym. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150个左右: 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 One day, Emily handed me an application form. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After her weeks of preparation, the long-awaited day finally came. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【参考范文】 One day, Emily handed me an application form. Staring at the competition entry blank, my heart raced with panic, for I had never imagined stepping onto a real stage in front of crowds. I tried to turn her down once more, yet she reminded me how far I had traveled from the exhausted mom surviving on leftover cereal, which instantly calmed my anxiety. I hesitated briefly then signed my name firmly. In the following days, besides regular training, we adjusted my diet finely and practiced posing again and again to build my confidence little by little. After her weeks of preparation, the long-awaited day finally came. Dressed neatly and full of energy, I walked onto the stage bravely. Though I did not win a top prize, I received warm applause from the audience. More importantly, I regained my vitality and learned to value myself rather than only devote everything to my children. This journey taught me that taking good care of myself never means being selfish, but allows me to be a better mother and a happier individual. 词汇激活 行为类 ①凝视:stare at/gaze at ②拒绝:turn down/decline/refuse 状态类 ①筋疲力尽的:exhausted/worn-out ②活力:vitality/energy 【点睛】 【高分句型1】I tried to turn her down once more, yet she reminded me how far I had traveled from the exhausted mom surviving on leftover cereal, which instantly calmed my anxiety. C Susan Ringwood greets all guests with a simple invitation: to join her in swimming in cold water in the swimming pool. A. Uncertain. B. Supportive. C. Uncaring. D. Doubtful. D If you often exercise, there is a good chance for you to be more creative, according to a study of the links between physical activity and imagination. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Green exercise is a term used to describe any type of physical exercise that takes place in a natural environment rather than in a health club or gym. The interaction with nature helps to lower people's blood pressure, refresh their mind, and actually improve their self-esteem. 39 . A. A green gym uses as little equipment as possible B. Spirits are also believed to be positively affected C. Opinions on what truly green exercise means differ D. Green exercise includes a range of activities exposed to nature E. So riding a bicycle in the forest can be called a type of green exercise F. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ( 10 / 10 ) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Daisy, what about going to the cinema this afternoon?
