We didn't have many activities while growing up in a small village in central africa. So music was life for my friends and family. Our country is poor than nations in asia and europe, but we are rich in art and music. I wanted to show this idea to the world, so I brought traditional music from villages to cities and then from africa to america. As an adult, I spent twenty years during the world with my band. We've won awards and seen amazing places, but my proudest moment was returning to my village to play a concert there. Now I live in africa again, and i've returned to inspire others to follow their love for music. I often say that music gave me the life I have today.
A
Four best places to go on holiday
Where are the world’s greatest places to go on holiday to relieve stress? Here are four places that may inspire you to start searching for flights immediately.
Grindavik, Iceland
Grindavik is a sleepy former fishing village just 20 minutes from the airport and offers an easy way to get to many of Iceland’s top sites. Most importantly, it’s home to the Blue Lagoon, a natural hot spring with unique minerals and algae(藻类) not found anywhere else on Earth. Research stated that the Blue Lagoon’s waters are known to improve skin health. The Blue Lagoon’s water also allows you to float weightlessly, which helps to reduce stress, improve energy levels and general wellbeing.
Helsinki, Finland
Around 75% of Finland is covered by forests, and there are almost 200,000 lakes. The country’s chance to visit various natural environments improves wellbeing in many ways. For instance, a 2023 study led by researchers from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare even found that Helsinki’s rich green and blue spaces reduced people’s use of medicine for depression, anxiety and blood pressure.
Las Catalinas, Costa Rica
The small ocean side town of Las Catalinas improve wellness in special ways. Las Catalinas is entirely car-free — you get around on foot or by bike — which encourages a slower pace of life, more time in nature, and a stronger sense of local community. Las Catalinas is also a great jumping-off point to explore the Nicoya Peninsula, another of the world's five Blue Zones (where locals are twice as likely than Americans to live to age 100!).
Sedona, Arizona
With its sandstone cliffs(悬崖), year-round blue skies, and different ted-green views, Sedona is an ideal place for anyone looking to get back to nature. It’s also one of only 36 certified (认证的) Dark Sky communities in the world, offering opportunities to observe magical Milky Way stars. Research has shown that light pollution is related to increases in stress, mood disorders, and physical health problems — while dark skies promote relaxation and sound sleep.

When I was in the third grade, I was picked to be the princess in the school play, and for weeks my mother had painstakingly practised my lines with me. But no matter how easily I delivered them at home, as I stepped on stage, every word disappeared from my head. Finally, my teacher took me aside and asked me to be a narrator(叙述者).
I felt disappointed and didn't tell my mother. However, she sensed my unease, instead of suggesting me reciting my lines, she took me for a walk in our yard. It was a lovely spring day and the rose leaves were turning green. We could see yellow dandelions(蒲公英) popping through the grass. My mother looked at one of the dandelions and said, “I think I'm going to dig up all these weeds(杂草),” then she pulled a flower up by its roots. “From now on, we'll have only roses in this garden.”
“But I like dandelions,” I said. “All flowers are beautiful — even dandelions.” My mother looked at me seriously. “Yes, every flower gives pleasure in its own way, doesn't it?” she asked thoughtfully. “And that is true of people too,” she added.
Relieved that she had guessed my pain, I started to cry. “But you will be a beautiful narrator,” she said, reminding me of how much I loved to read stories aloud to her. “The narrator's part is as important as the part of a princess.”
Over the next few weeks, with her encouragement, I learned to take pride in the role. Lunchtimes were spent reading over my lines and talking about what I would wear. Backstage on the night of the performance, I felt nervous. However, it was at that very moment that I found a dandelion in my pocket. I knew my mom passed the flower to me, which meant to be in company with me. I performed so well that the audience stood up and burst into cheers.
After the play, Mom gently pressed dandelion into the dictionary and grinned happily as she did. “We were perhaps the only people who would press such a sorry-looking weed.” Though years have passed, I always recall our precious lunchtimes being together, grateful for the gift in my pocket.
24. What problem did the author have?
A. She was not interested in her role.
B. She failed to satisfy her teacher.

25. How did the author’s mother help her deal with her disappointment?
A. By practicing lines with her.
B. By suggesting her quitting the play.
C. By talking about flowers in the garden.
D. By communicating with the teacher in person.
26. What lesson did the author learn from her mother about role shift?
A. Not everyone can be successful.
B. Praise is needed in one’s growth.
C. Every individual has their unique value.
D. Roses look more beautiful against weeds.
27. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. The gift of Mom. B. The belief of Mom.
C. The magic of flowers. D. The influence of role play.

For some people, October is Octobear. On October 5, Katmai National Park and Preserve in southern Alaska kicked off Fat Bear Week, when fans compare before and after photos of bears to vote for the one they think has gained the most weight before they bed down for the long freezing winter. Bear 747, also known as “Bear Force One”, took the first-place with 68,105 votes. It weighed around 1,400 pounds.
Fat Bear Week started in 2014. At first it was just Fat Bear Tuesday. Mike Fitz, a former park keeper at Katmai, noticed that live webcams(网络摄像头) showing the bears received a lot of online comments, so he let people vote for their favorite fat bear on the Internet. The one-day event attracted 1,700 votes. In 2015, it was extended to a week. Last year, nearly 800,000 people took part, turning it into a global campaign.
The contest serves two main purposes. First, some of America’s national parks are in remote and undeveloped areas, which are difficult or costly to reach. Fat Bear Week brings Alaska’s wilderness to fans’ computer screens. “It’s not limited to the fortunate few who can go to the river anymore,” Fitz said.
Second, Fat Bear Week brings attention to the bears and the ecosystems they live in. The 2,200 bears of Katmai are strong for feeding on some of the healthiest salmon(三文鱼) in the world, said Sara Wolman, a former park keeper. Salmon in the Pacific Northwest are suffering from overfishing and warming rivers due to climate change. Luckily, Brooks River, which Katmai’s bears like to fish in, has been free from these threats so far.
Fat Bear Week has spread like a wild fire. Fans and creators say it is a successful story of wildlife protection. For one week, people don’t have to focus on climate change. “Maybe things aren’t great all the time in the world,” said Felicia Jimenez, a Katmai keeper. “But there are some really fat bears in Alaska.”
28. Why did Bear 747 become the winner of Fat Bear Week?
A. It was the heaviest.
B. It gained the most pounds.
C. It looked the most attractive.
D. It ate the healthiest salmon.
29. What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
A. The history of Fat Bear Week.
B. The leadership of Mike Fitz.
C. The influence of online voting.
D. The function of live webcams.
30. What can we learn about the bears of Katmai?
A. They bring tourists to Alaska.
B. They face a population decrease.
C. They like to fish in warm rivers.
D. They enjoy a healthy food source.
31. What is Felicia Jimenez’s attitude towards the Fat Bear Week?
A. Doubtful.
B. Favorable.
C. Negative.
D. Uninterested.

Jennifer Destefano answered a call from a number she did not recognize. “Mom, these bad men have me,” her daughter’s voice told her, crying. A man continued to demand money, or he would drug her daughter and leave her in Mexico. But while she kept him on the phone, friends managed to reach her daughter, only to discover that she was free and well on a skiing trip in Arizona. The voice used on the phone was a fake(冒充品).
In fact, voice cloning has far-reaching influences. A brief sample of a particular individual voice can be used to train an AI model, which can then speak any given text sounding like that person. The feature is to be included in iPhone’s new operating system IOS 17 to help people who may be in danger of losing their voices. ElevenLabs, an AI startup, offers users the chance to create their own clones in minutes. When generating a recording, the system also offers a controller that allows users to choose between variability, a lifelike intonation(语调), and stability, similar to a calm newsreader, both accurate.
With cloning coming, voices claiming to be someone may prove to be fakes. That disturbs financial industry(金融业), which uses voice as an important identification. In journalism, fewer people will trust news based on recordings. The opposite problem will arise when public figures refuse to admit their genuine recordings. Now, ever more people caught up in illegal behaviors will be attracted by the defence, “It wasn’t me.”
Creative industries could face challenges too. Voice actors’ skills, trained over a lifetime, can be taken away in a matter of seconds. The Telegraph recently reported on actors who had mistakenly given up rights to their voices, making it possible to clone them for nothing. But as the old saying goes, a coin has two sides. Val Kilmer, who has lost much of his voice to throat cancer, was delighted to have his voice restored for Top Gun: Maverick. And some others may be spared heading to the studio for retakes.
32. Why does the author talk about Destefano’s experience?
A. To explain why Destefano was cheated. B. To praise a mother’s love for her daughter.
C. To teach people how to recognize fake voices. D. To draw readers’ attention to voice cloning.
33. What can be learned from Paragraph 2?
A. Cloning voices can be variously styled. B. IOS trains people disabled in speaking.
C. Cloning one’s voice is time-consuming. D. AI learns human voice from texts.
34. What impact may voice cloning make?
A. Financial industry will abandon voice identification.
B. Broadcasting will disappear in journalism.
C. Criminals use it as an excuse to escape punishment.
D. Public figures dare not make recordings.
35. What is voice cloning’s influence in creative industries?
A. Disastrous. B. Double edged. C. Beneficial. D. Short-termed.
Have you ever considered whether to spend on a vacation or buy a new phone? While buying something new brings an immediate rush of excitement, studies show that this happiness disappears quickly. 36 This article explores why experiences are more satisfying than material belongings and improve well-being in ways objects can't.
37 Hedonic adaptation(享乐适应), the idea given by psychologists Brickman and Campbell, means even the most exciting buying becomes ordinary over time. For example, when you buy something new, like a phone or a piece of clothing, the excitement is high at first, but it soon becomes part of your daily routine.
Another reason why experiences outweigh material belongings is that they tend to include other people, deepening relationships and creating connections. Whether traveling with family or trying a new restaurant with a friend, shared experiences strengthen social relationships. 38 They offer a sense of belonging and community.
That's not to say material things don’t have their place — some pieces bring joy and meaning, especially if they have emotional value. A well-loved guitar or a thoughtful gift can carry emotional significance. However, the happiness from objects is often tied to their practical use or related memories, rather than the pieces themselves. 39
So, what’s your take on this? Have you ever spent money on something you wanted for so long, only to realize it didn’t last? And what's an experience you spent money on that still brings a smile to your face whenever you think about it? 40 After all, it’s not the things we collect but the memories and connections we create that truly make life rich.
A. And they are the necessities in our daily life.
B. One reason lies in a theory put forward in 1971.
C. Maybe it's time to rethink what we spend money on.
D. These connections are significant sources of happiness.
E. Things are meaningful because of the connections objects create.
F. The key is balancing spending on material goods and experiences.
G. Instead, spending on experiences creates longer-lasting happiness.

David, a senior high school student, hated weekly PE class. Not because he didn’t like sports, but because even a short run would leave him breathless. At 16, he weighed over 100 kilograms. He tried dieting several times, only to quit within a week.
Ms. Clark, the school doctor, had long noticed David’s problems. At every health check, his condition worsened: high blood pressure, high blood lipids(高血脂) and knee pain. She advised him on healthy eating and exercise. “My knees hurt,” he would say. Or “I’m just too busy with my school work.” Sometimes he blamed the canteen food, other times, the exam stress. However, Ms. Clark noticed the other side of David. She’d often spot him buried in textbooks in the library. She’d also hear teachers praise him for being active in group projects — a contrast to his give-up attitude towards fitness.
One day, Ms. Clark read a story about a teacher who treated her slow history class as an honors class. Believing the students were “gifted”, she pushed them harder — and they all made great progress. Inspired, Ms. Clark decided to try something similar. She selected five overweight students, including David, and formed a special group. “From today on,” she announced, “you are my honors health class. We’ll work together and you are expected to lose at least 10 kilograms and improve your fitness by the end of this semester.” David let out a laugh, “I’ve failed so many times.” “That’s because you expected to fail,” Ms. Clark said firmly. “But honors students don’t quit.” She taught them how to keep a food diary and how to do simple exercise.
David lost 1.5 kilograms in the first week — more than he had lost in the past two years combined. However, three weeks into the program, disaster struck. It was mid-term exam week. David stayed up late every night, snacking on instant noodles and cookies. At the weekly weigh-in, he regained all the weight he’d lost — plus half a kilogram. He stood silently before the group, his face burning with shame.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
Ms. Clark pulled David aside and said, “I’m still proud of you.”

The following week, David stood confidently with his group at the weigh-in.

M: You exercise by dancing? I thought activities like running and bicycling were considered as exercise.
W: Well, those are other good ways to work out, but I like to dance. It’s fun to move around to music, and you can definitely work up a sweat. Do you like to dance?
M: I sometimes dance at parties, but I’m not a very good dancer. For exercise, I prefer playing soccer. I want to get really good this year. I hope to make the soccer team in the fall.

M: Do you know how to play soccer? It is really very easy once you try, but it does need some practice.
W: I can’t play soccer very well, even though I used to play a lot when I was a kid. If you teach me some of your soccer moves, I’ll teach you some dance moves! How does that sound?
M: It’s a deal. If there weren’t the math test tomorrow, we could definitely go to the gym right now.
W: Right. No more fun and games. Let me get my notebook.

18. Where did the speaker hear traditional music for the first time?
A. From local bands. B. From his friends. C. From his family.
19. Which part of the world is the speaker from?
A. Asia. B. Africa. C. Europe.
20. What did the speaker feel proudest for?
A. Touring the world. B. Winning many awards. C. Playing a concert in her village.
A 19. B 20. C
M: I often say that music gave me the life I have today. I couldn’t have become a professional musician without being introduced to music. As a child, I started dancing, singing and playing music at age three. I’ll never forget hearing traditional music for the first time at a concert by local bands. We didn’t have many activities while growing up in a small village in central Africa, so music was life for my friends and family. Our country is poorer than nations in Asia and Europe, but we are rich in art and music. I wanted to show this idea to the world, so I brought traditional music from villages to cities and then from Africa to America. As an adult, I spent twenty years touring the world with my band. We’ve won awards and seen amazing places, but my proudest moment was returning to my village to play a concert there. Now I live in Africa again and I’ve returned to inspire others to follow their love for music.
A
Four best places to go on holiday
21. What can we learn about the Blue Lagoon in Grindavik, Iceland?
A. It has been proved to cure skin diseases.
B. It is located in the capital city of Iceland.
C. It is a hot pot with special minerals and algae.
D. It helps reduce stress and lower blood pressure.
22. What do the four places have in common?
A. They are beneficial to people’s health.
B. They are famous for activities of observing stars.
C. They are covered by forests and red-green views.
D. They offer unusual opportunities for cultural experiences.
23. Where is the passage most likely taken from?
A. A scientific journal. B. A travel magazine.
C. A history book. D. A geography textbook.
C 22. A 23. B
根据Grindavik, Iceland中的“Most importantly, it’s home to the Blue Lagoon, a natural hot spring with unique minerals and algae not found anywhere else on Earth.(最重要的是,这里是蓝湖的所在地, Blue Lagoon是一处天然温泉,含有地球上其他地方都没有的独特矿物质和藻类)”可知, Blue Lagoon是一处富含特殊矿物质和藻类的天然温泉。故选C项。
根据Grindavik, Iceland中的“The Blue Lagoon’s water also allows you to float weightlessly, which helps to reduce stress, improve energy levels and general wellbeing(Blue Lagoon的水还可以让你在失重的情况下漂浮,这有助于减轻压力,提高能量水平和整体健康)”、Helsinki, Finland中的“For instance, a 2023 study led by researchers from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare even found that Helsinki’s rich green and blue spaces reduced people’s use of medicine for depression, anxiety and blood pressure.(例如,由芬兰健康与福利研究所的研究人员领导的一项2023年的研究甚至发现,赫尔辛基丰富的绿色和蓝色空间减少了人们对抑郁症、焦虑症和血压药物的使用)”、Las Catalinas, Costa Rica中的“The small ocean side town of Las Catalinas improve wellness in special ways. (海滨小镇拉斯卡塔利纳斯以特殊的方式改善健康状况)”以及Sedona, Arizona中的“Research has shown that light pollution is related to increases in stress, mood disorders, and physical health problems — while dark skies promote relaxation and sound sleep.(研究表明,光污染与压力增加、情绪紊乱和身体健康问题有关,而黑暗的天空促进放松和良好的睡眠)”可知,这四个地方的共同之处是都对人们的身体健康有益。故选A项。
B
C. She was unwilling to practise lines.
D. She was anxious about performing on stage.
D 25. C 26. C 27. A
根据第一段中的“But no matter how easily I delivered them at home, as I stepped onstage, every word disappeared from my head.(但是不管我在家说得多么流利,当我走上舞台时,所有的台词都从我的脑海里消失了)”可知,作者在舞台上会紧张到忘记台词,由此可推断她对登台表演感到焦虑。故选D项。
根据第二段中的“However, she sensed my unease, instead of suggesting me reciting my lines, she took me for a walk in our yard(然而,她看出了我的不安,她没有让我背诵台词,而是带我去院子里散步)”和第三段中的“My mother looked at one of the dandelions and said, “I think I'm going to dig up all these weeds,” then she pulled a flower up by its roots. “From now on, we'll have only roses in this garden.”(母亲看着其中一朵蒲公英说:“我想我要把这些杂草都挖掉”,然后她把一朵花连根拔起。“从现在起,我们的花园里只种玫瑰。”)”可知,母亲通过和作者谈论花园里的花来引导她,帮她排解失落的情绪。故选C项。
26. 推理判断题。根据第三段中的“Yes, every flower gives pleasure in its own way, doesn't it?” she asked thoughtfully. “And that is true of people too,” she added.(“是啊,每朵花都有它自己独特的方式带给人愉悦,不是吗?”
根据第五段中的“However, it was at that very moment that I found a dandelion in my pocket. I knew my mom passed the flower to me, which meant to be in company with me.(然而,就在那一刻,我发现口袋里有一朵蒲公英。我知道是妈妈把花塞给我的,这朵花是为了陪伴我)”和最后一段中的“Though years have passed, I always recall our precious lunchtimes being together, grateful for the gift in my pocket.(尽管多年过去,我总会想起我们一起度过的珍贵午餐时光,感激口袋里那份礼物)”可知,母亲的蒲公英是贯穿全文的线索,也是给予作者勇气的礼物,全文围绕这份礼物展开。因此A项“妈妈的礼物”可以作为文章的最佳标题。故选A项。
C
B 29. A 30. D 31. B
根据第一段“For some people, October is Octobear. On October 5, Katmai National Park and Preserve in southern Alaska kicked off Fat Bear Week, when fans compare before and after photos of bears to vote for the one they think has gained the most weight before they bed down for the long freezing winter (对于一些人来说,十月就是“熊月”。10 月 5 日,位于阿拉斯加南部的卡塔米国家公园和保护区启动了“胖熊周”活动。在这个活动中,粉丝们会对比熊的前后照片,投票选出他们认为体重增加最多的那只熊,然后这些熊会进入漫长的寒冷冬季的睡眠状态)”可知,“胖熊周”的评选标准是增重最多。故选B项。
29. 主旨大意题。根据第二段“Fat Bear Week started in 2014. At first it was just Fat Bear Tuesday. Mike Fitz, a former park keeper at Katmai, noticed that live webcams (网络摄像头) showing the bears received a lot of online comments, so he let people vote for their favorite fat bear on the Internet. 故选A项。
根据第四段“The 2,200 bears of Katmai are strong for feeding on some of the healthiest salmon (三文鱼) in the world (由于Katmai的2200只熊以世界上最健康的三文鱼为食而体格强健)”可知,这些熊有健康的食物来源。故选D项。
根据最后一段““Maybe things aren’t great all the time in the world,” said Felicia Jimenez, a Katmai keeper. “But there are some really fat bears in Alaska.” (Katmai的看守员Felicia Jimenez说:“也许世界上并非一直都很美好,但阿拉斯加确实有一些非常胖的熊。”)”可推知,Felicia Jimenez对“胖熊周”持支持、认可的态度。故选B项。

D 33. A 34. C 35. B
根据第一段“Jennifer Destefano answered a call from a number she did not recognize. The voice used on the phone was a fake (冒充品).
根据第二段中“When generating a recording, the system also offers a controller that allows users to choose between variability, a lifelike intonation (语调), and stability, similar to a calm newsreader, both accurate. (当生成录音时,系统还提供了一个控制器,允许用户在可变性(逼真的语调)和稳定性(类似于平静的新闻播音员)之间进行选择,两者都很准确。)”可知,生成的录音可以由用户自己选择可变性和稳定性,由此可知,克隆语音可以有多种风格。故选A项。
根据第三段中“Now, ever more people caught up in illegal behaviors will be attracted by the defence, “It wasn’t me.” (现在,越来越多被卷入非法行为的人会被“不是我”的辩护吸引。)”可知,克隆语音可能导致罪犯用它作为逃避惩罚的借口。故选C项。
35. 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Creative industries could face challenges too. Voice actors’ skills, trained over a lifetime, can be taken away in a matter of seconds. (创意产业也可能面临挑战。配音演员的技能,经过了一辈子的训练,可以在几秒钟内消失。)”和“But as the old saying goes, a coin has two sides. Val Kilmer, who has lost much of his voice to throat cancer, was delighted to have his voice restored for Top Gun: Maverick. And some others may be spared heading to the studio for retakes.
G 37. B 38. D 39. E 40. C
36. 前文“While buying something new brings an immediate rush of excitement, studies show that this happiness disappears quickly.(虽然买新东西会让人立刻兴奋起来,但研究表明,这种快乐很快就会消失)”提到购买新东西带来的兴奋感会很快消失,后文“This article explores why experiences are more satisfying than material belongings and improve well-being in ways objects can't.(这篇文章探讨了为什么体验比物质财富更令人满意,并以物品无法达到的方式改善幸福感)”引出文章要探讨体验比物质更令人满足以及能提升幸福感的内容。
37. 后文“Hedonic adaptation (享乐适应), the idea given by psychologists Brickman and Campbell, means even the most exciting buying becomes ordinary over time. For example, when you buy something new, like a phone or a piece of clothing, the excitement is high at first, but it soon becomes part of your daily routine.(心理学家布里克曼和坎贝尔提出的享乐适应概念意味着,随着时间的推移,即使是最令人兴奋的购买行为也会变得普通。例如,当你买新东西时,比如一部手机或一件衣服,一开始很兴奋,但很快它就成为你日常生活的一部分)”介绍了享乐适应理论,即心理学家布里克曼和坎贝尔提出的观点,说明即使最令人兴奋的购买随着时间也会变得平常。选项B“One reason lies in a theory put forward in 1971.(一个原因在于1971年提出的一个理论)”,“一个原因”引出后文对享乐适应理论的阐述。故选B项。
38. 前文“Another reason why experiences outweigh material belongings is that they tend to include other people, deepening relationships and creating connections. Whether traveling with family or trying a new restaurant with a friend, shared experiences strengthen social relationships.(经历比物质财富重要的另一个原因是,它们往往包括其他人,加深关系,建立联系。无论是与家人一起旅行还是与朋友一起尝试一家新餐厅,分享经历都能加强社会关系)”强调体验消费往往会涉及他人,能加深人际关系和建立联系,后文“They offer a sense of belonging and community.(它们提供了一种归属感和社区归属感)”说它们能带来归属感和群体感。选项D“These connections are significant sources of happiness.(这些联系是幸福的重要来源)”,“这些联系”指代前文体验消费中建立的人际关系,“幸福的重要来源”与后文归属感和群体感带来幸福相呼应。故选D项。
39. 前文“That’s not to say material things don't have their place — some pieces bring joy and meaning, especially if they have emotional value. A well-loved guitar or a thoughtful gift can carry emotional significance. However, the happiness from objects is often tied to their practical use or related memories, rather than the pieces themselves.(这并不是说物质的东西没有它们的位置——有些东西会带来快乐和意义,尤其是如果它们有情感价值的话。一把深受喜爱的吉他或一份体贴的礼物都能承载情感意义。然而,物品带来的快乐往往与它们的实际使用或相关记忆有关,而不是物品本身)”指出物质物品有其价值,但其带来的快乐往往与实际用途或相关记忆有关,而非物品本身。选项E“Things are meaningful because of the connections objects create.(物品因为它们所建立的联系而有意义)”进一步解释了物质物品的意义所在,与前文对物质物品价值的论述相衔接。故选E项。
40. 前文“So, what’s your take on this? Have you ever spent money on something you wanted for so long, only to realize it didn’t last? And what's an experience you spent money on that still brings a smile to your face whenever you think about it?(那么,你对此有何看法?你是否曾经花了很多钱在你想要的东西上,却发现它并没有持续多久?什么经历是你花了钱,但每当你想起它时,仍然会让你微笑?)”通过对比体验消费和物质消费,强调了体验消费的优势,最后提出问题引导读者思考消费经历。选项C“Maybe it's time to rethink what we spend money on.(也许是时候重新思考我们把钱花在什么地方了)”总结全文,呼应前文的讨论,呼吁读者重新审视消费选择。故选C项。

Dear Amy,
I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been feeling upset about your weight recently. Please don’t be too hard on yourself; it’s something many of us struggle with.
First, I’d suggest focusing on a balanced diet rather than strict dieting. Try to incorporate more fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your meals while cutting down on sugary snacks and fizzy drinks. Secondly, finding a form of exercise you genuinely enjoy is key to sticking with it. Regular physical activity will not only help you get in shape but also boost your mood.
I truly hope these suggestions are helpful. I’m confident that with a positive mindset and a healthy lifestyle, you’ll feel much better about yourself.
Yours,
Li Hua

Ms. Clark pulled David aside and said, “I’m still proud of you.” She patted his back gently, saying mid-term exams brought great stress to every student, and it was understandable to lose control of his diet. “Your first-week weight loss proved you have the strength to change,” she added. She helped David adjust his plan: replace late-night instant noodles with yogurt and fruit, and do 5-minute light stretches after each study session. Encouraged by her words, David lifted his head, his shame fading, and determined to stick to the plan this time.
The following week, David stood confidently with his group at the weigh-in. He stepped on the scale steadily, and a bright smile appeared on his face when he saw the number — he had lost 2 kilograms. The group cheered loudly for him. David turned to Ms. Clark, expressing his sincere gratitude. He finally realized that setbacks were normal, and persistence was the key to success. From then on, he balanced his study and fitness well, moving steadily towards his weight-loss goal.
