A tourism project brought great changes to Nizhuhe Village, a remote and poor village between Yunnan and Guizhou provinces. It has not only greatly improved local educational conditions, but also turned villagers’ hard lives into better ones, showing a warm miracle in the mountain area.
In the past, the village was cut off from the outside world. The only way to go out was the rough and muddy mountain roads. For students like Chen Honghan, the journey to school was extremely dangerous. They had to climb cliffs and walk for three long hours every day. The tiring trip often made them feel tired and even put their lives in danger. Villagers could only depend on traditional farming to make a basic living.
Since 2017, the local eco-cultural tourism project has completely turned over a new leaf. Workers built a scenic bus line, a cliffside lift and a cable car for free. Now Chen’s school trip takes only 30 minutes, which is safe and relaxing. She first rides a 6-minute scenic bus and then takes a lift that climbs 268 metres. Next, she takes a cable car ride that climbs over 200 metres. After a 1-kilometre walk, she arrives at the school in just under 30 minutes. The journey seems like flying through soft clouds: This special “cloud school bus” keeps students away from danger and makes going to school a happy experience.
★ In 2024, about 300,000 tourists visited the village, bringing a profit of nearly 20 million yuan. Many villagers opened farmstays, small shops and coffee shops. Some people who worked in big cities returned home to start their own businesses. Local infrastructure (基础设施) was improved a lot, with cleaner roads and better public services. By communicating with different tourists, villagers opened their eyes and learned new skills.
This tourism project is “a ladder to the clouds” for the mountain students; giving them better education and bright hopes. It encourages them to study hard and come back to build their lovely hometown in the future.
46.Why does the writer mention Chen Honghan in Paragraph 2?
A.To tell us her school life. B.To talk about her daily study habits.

A.Made a big change. B.Grown green plants. C.Built new roads. D.Started a new club.
48.What is the correct order of the students’ journey to school at present?
A.
B.
C.
D.
49.Which of the following can be put in ★ ?
A.The project pushed the local economy. B.The lift is free for all visitors.
C.More tourists love the village. D.Villagers learn some new skills.
50.What is the purpose of writing the passage?
A.To ask people to visit the village. B.To show how tourism changes the village.
C.To teach us to find a better village. D.To tell a story about a student in Yunnan.

Every time you send an email, a message, a photo or post something on the internet, you save paper. However, you leave behind your digital carbon footprint.
You may think that the internet has no effect on the physical world, but we store all the information on different websites, apps and social media on computer servers (服务器). They use lots of electricity. At the same time, they need to be cool, so we use more electricity to keep the temperature low. However, the production of electricity increases our carbon footprint and heats up our earth.
All information, pictures and music on the internet travel in small packets called data (数据). So when we do an online search, the question we have put into the computer becomes data. The computer sends this data to the servers. They then process the question and send it back to our computers as data. The faster the search engine (引擎) works, the bigger the use of electricity. We use the most electricity when we watch a video online. This is because a lot of data travels to and from the server.
Different kinds of technology need different amounts of electricity to work. For example, mobile phones use electromagnetic waves. These waves need more energy to move through buildings, bad weather and even plants. So again, the use of electricity is bigger. Cloud computing also uses a lot of energy because instead of saving your material on your computer, you store it on the server. So again, more data travels between the servers and the computers, using large amounts of energy.
One way to stop this waste is to always update your apps or software. For example, an old word processing tool needs four times more energy to work than a new one. Another way is to think before we see a film online: do you really need to see it for the tenth time?
51.In what way do we leave behind a digital carbon footprint?
A.By using the internet. B.By producing electricity.
C.By keeping the servers cool. D.By saving plenty of paper in daily life.
52.Why does watching a video online use much electricity?
A.It makes the search engine stop working. B.Lots of data travels to and from the server.
C.Many questions are put into the computer. D.It makes the temperature of servers drop quickly.
53.What is the main idea of Paragraph 4?
A.Much data uses large amounts of energy.
B.Cloud computing uses more energy than mobile phones.
C.Mobile phones and cloud computing both increase energy use.
D.Different technologies use different amounts of electricity.
54.What can reduce our digital carbon footprint?
A.Using the latest apps or software. B.Seeing a film online many times.
C.Working with an old word processing tool. D.Storing your films in the cloud.
55.Which would be the best title for the text?
A.How to Save Paper in Daily Life B.The Hidden Environmental Cost of the Internet
C.Ways to Make Servers Work Faster D.Why Cloud Computing Is Better than Local Storage
D
In invention contests, moving parts and flashing screens often attract attention. Yet the most useful solution is not always the most complicated. A tool should be judged by the problem it solves, the people who can use it and the resources it requires. A device that works perfectly in a laboratory may fail if it is too costly, difficult to repair or dependent on power that users cannot reliably obtain.
Consider a clay cooling box used in a place with unreliable electricity. One smaller clay pot is put inside a larger one, and wet sand fills the space between them. Food is kept in the inner pot under a damp cloth. As water slowly leaves the sand, it carries heat away. The box cannot reach the temperature of a refrigerator, but in suitable weather it can keep some vegetables fresh longer without electricity.
The design has limits. It works best in dry air and needs clean water. It is also unsuitable for medicine that must stay at an exact low temperature. Calling it a complete replacement for a refrigerator would be misleading. However, in the right situation it may reduce food waste at a low cost. In a humid coastal town, by contrast, little water may leave the sand, so the same box may provide almost no benefit.
Its limits must therefore be explained clearly instead of hidden behind an impressive demonstration.
Good designers therefore begin with questions, not machines: Who has the problem? Where will the tool be used? Can it be repaired locally? What could go wrong? How will users know its limits? A simple invention that answers these questions may be smarter than a costly device filled with features that no one needs.
56.Why might a laboratory device fail in daily use?
A.It may not fit local conditions. B.It has no moving parts.
C.Users always prefer clay. D.Laboratories never test inventions.
57.How does the clay box cool food?
A.Electricity cools the inner pot. B.Evaporating water carries heat away.
C.Cold air is pumped inside. D.The clay produces ice.
58.Why does the writer mention a humid coastal town?
A.To explain where clay is produced.
B.To prove coastal residents waste food.
C.To show that the box’s usefulness depends on place.
D.To recommend using more electricity.
59.What does the underlined word “misleading” probably mean?
A.Widely accepted. B.Easy to repair. C.Scientifically proven. D.Giving a wrong idea.
60.Which question best describes the writer’s main concern?
A.Can it solve a real problem safely in its setting?
B.Does the invention look modern?
C.Will it win an invention contest?
D.Does it contain enough features?

C
【答案】51.A 52.B 53.D 54.A 55.B
根据文章第1段“Every time you send an email, a message, a photo or post something on the internet, you save paper. However, you leave behind your digital carbon footprint.”可知,当我们使用互联网(发送邮件、照片等)时,会留下数字碳足迹。
52.根据文章第3段“We use the most electricity when we watch a video online. This is because a lot of data travels to and from the server.”可知,在线观看视频耗电最多是因为大量数据在服务器和电脑之间传输。
53.文章第4段首句“Different kinds of technology need different amounts of electricity to work.”是该段的主题句,随后列举了手机和云计算的例子来支撑这一观点,概括了全段核心内容。
54.根据文章第5段“One way to stop this waste is to always update your apps or software.”
【答案】56.A 57.B 58.C 59.D 60.A
【导语】本文主要介绍发明工具不能只看重复杂花哨的外观,要结合实际使用场景,以黏土冷却盒为例,说明简单发明也要认清自身适用条件与局限。
【详解】56.原文第一段“A device that works perfectly in a laboratory may fail if it is too costly, difficult to repair or dependent on power that users cannot reliably obtain.”,说明实验室设备在日常生活中失效可能是因为不契合当地实际条件。
57.原文第二段“As water slowly leaves the sand, it carries heat away.”,这就是黏土盒给食物降温的工作原理。
58.原文第三段“In a humid coastal town, by contrast, little water may leave the sand, so the same box may provide almost no benefit.”,用来对比说明黏土冷却盒的效用受地域环境影响。
59.原文第三段“Calling it a complete replacement for a refrigerator would be misleading.”,结合上下文,黏土冷却盒并不能完全替代冰箱,这种说法会传递错误认知。
60.原文最后一段“Good designers therefore begin with questions, not machines: Who has the problem? Where will the tool be used?”,作者核心关心发明能否在实际环境中解决真实问题。

A.How to Save Paper in Daily Life
B.The Hidden Environmental Cost of the Internet
C.Ways to Make Servers Work Faster
D.Why Cloud Computing Is Better than Local Storage
