I. Teaching Objectives

1. Students can say the four activity phrases: play basketball, fly a kite, see a film, make a snowman.

2. Students can use "On sunny days, we can play basketball." and "On snowy days, we can make a snowman." to match activities with weather.

3. Students can play the wheel game and answer "What can we do? We can ...", using can + a verb.

II. Key Points and Difficult Points

Key Points

The four phrases (play basketball / fly a kite / see a film / make a snowman) and the sentences "On ... days, we can ...".

Difficult Points

1. The phrase "see a film" and "make a snowman" are long, so students need to listen first and then read.

2. After "can" we use a verb, not "to" or "-ing": we can play, not can to play or can playing.

III. Teaching Tools

Word cards (four activities), weather cards (sunny / snowy / rainy / windy ...), a paper wheel with the words, the textbook pictures and the audio.

IV. Teaching Procedures

Step 1: Warm-up and lead-in (5 mins)

1. Show the weather cards and ask: What weather do you like? Take a few quick answers and give no correction at this stage.

2. Say: On sunny days I can fly a kite. What can you do? Point to the sky and act it out to bring in the topic.

[Purpose] Pull the weather words from the last lesson into today's "what can we do" and warm up the verb phrases.

Step 2: Presentation (10 mins)

1. Show the four activity pictures one by one. Say the phrase and let students repeat: play basketball, fly a kite, see a film, make a snowman.

2. Hold up a weather card and a picture together and say the sentence: On sunny days, we can play basketball. On snowy days, we can make a snowman.

3. Read each sentence three times with different voices (loud, soft, slow) to keep the listening light.

[Purpose] Let students see the picture, hear the phrase and say the whole sentence at the same time.

Step 3: Practice - wheel game (8 mins)

1. Spin the wheel. It stops on a weather word. Read it out: It's cold and snowy.

2. Ask: We can't fly a kite. What can we do? Students answer: We can make a snowman.
