Part A Let’s talk 第一课 (教学设计）

 

I. Teaching Objectives

1. Ss can say and point to the four jobs: firefighter, school bus driver, cleaner and nurse.

2. Ss can use “He’s / She’s a …” and “He / She often helps …” to talk about the people in a community.

3. Ss can ask “Why?” and give a short reason, and know that every job is important.

II. Key Points and Difficult Points

Key Points

The four job words, and the pair “He’s / She’s a …” + “He / She often helps …”.

Difficult Points

Choosing he’s for a man and she’s for a woman, and not forgetting the -s on helps, cleans and takes.

III. Teaching Tools

Job picture cards, a small fire hat or a bus card as a prop, the textbook audio, and one community map poster.

IV. Teaching Procedures

Step 1  Warm-up and lead-in (4 mins)

Stick up the community map poster. Point and ask “What can we see?” Take a handful of quick answers and give no correction at this stage. Show the fire hat: “Look! Who is this?”

[Purpose] Pull the topic out of their own street, not off the page, and plant firefighter early.

Step 2  Listen and find (8 mins)

Play the Let’s talk audio twice. First listen: point to the firefighter and the bus driver when you hear them. Second listen: raise a hand for “he” and stamp a foot for “she”.

[Purpose] Let the ear do the work before the mouth. The hand-and-foot game forces them to hear he / she, not just read it.

Step 3  Read and clap (8 mins)

Read the dialogue three times — normal, in a deep firefighter voice, in a soft nurse voice. Clap once on helps, once on cleans, once on takes, so they feel the -s.

[Purpose] The claps put a beat on the hard sound. Neatness can wait; the missing -s cannot.

Step 4  Ask and answer “Why?” (8 mins)

Model on the board: “He’s a school bus driver. Why? He takes us to school.” Pair work: one asks “Why?”, one gives a short reason. Walk round and praise one correct full answer rather than a vague good job.
