阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D.四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
Are you worried about moving up to Senior High school? It can be a new experience, but you shouldn’t worry. We’ve put together a guide on how to survive the first week.
You’re not alone!
Remember everybody else in your year is on the same boat. They may not realize it, but they’re just as nervous as you are. Moving to Senior High school is a chance, not a problem. Things are different and all you need to do is be polite and learn the new rules.
Teachers are ready to help!
If you’re unsure what to do or are worried about anything then you had better ask for help. Teachers are probably the best people to turn to as they’re experienced in helping new students. Some Senior High schools also have a “friends system”. If your school has this, then you will be paired with an older student. They will look out for you and help you if you have any problems or questions.
All change
There are lots of differences between Junior High school and Senior High school. You’ll have a homework diary or a student planner. You will have your lessons with different teachers in different rooms. You will have homework for different subjects on different days, so make sure you get organized. Make sure you have a copy of your school timetable written down so you know which rooms your classes are in and on which days you will have your different subjects.
Other points
If you’ve got an elder brother or sister at the school then ask them for advice.
Be yourself! It sounds simple, but people will know you much better if you just act naturally.
Having early nights makes a difference and you’ll find it easier to get up in the morning!
1. Which of the following is closest in meaning to the underlined sentence?
A. Other students have similar feelings to yours.
B. Other students have to learn boating with you.
C. Other students will help you solve your problems.
D. Other students will teach you politeness and new rules.
2. Why do the new students turn to teachers first when having problems?
A. Because teachers won’t blame them as parents do.
B. Because teachers are good at helping solve problems.
C. Because teachers treat every student fairly.
D. Because parents are too busy to help them.
3. What’s the purpose of the passage?
A. To tell students the importance of learning.
B. To make a difference when moving up to Senior High school.
C. To warn students not to ignore friendship in Senior High school.
D. To help new students to get used to the life in Senior High school.
B
From a young age, I have been interested in travelling and exploring the sights I never knew. The endless possibilities (可能性) of places to visit and explore have attracted me. Growing up I was lucky to travel to the places with my family, which helped open my eyes and shape my personality.
The trip to Thailand (泰国) still seems like a fantasy. This country is completely different from ours. Upon arrival in Bangkok, I felt everything was strange. The new environment made me want to go back home. However, we drove through the city of Bangkok to reach our final destination. Along the way, I smelled the street food, watched the strangely lined faces of the street sellers and passers-by and listened to the sound made by tuk-tuks. After experiencing the beauty of Bangkok, the strange feeling turned into excitement.
After a few days in Bangkok, we went to Pattaya and I got to know why Thailand is known as the “Land of Smiles”. As I walked through the streets, the friendliness of strangers was everywhere. When I was lost, a girl came up to me and helped me work out where I was going. And while we were being evacuated (疏散) after the tsunami (海啸), a man helped me push my luggage (行李) to safety at the risk of his own life.
Time and time again, I was surprised by the friendliness that was shown to me in Thailand by people who had no idea who I was. It’s changed me. Now, I try not to judge (评判) anyone I meet. Instead, I think only about ways in which I can help other people and repay the kindness that has been shown towards me.
4. What can we learn about the author from Paragraph 1?
A. He enjoys travelling alone. B. He works as a travel guide.
C. He has a long-lasting love of travelling. D. He runs a travel business with his family.
5. How did the girl help the author?
A. By offering him a place to stay. B. By giving him some money.
C. By showing him the way. D. By carrying his luggage.
6. What is the best title for the text?
A. A Family that Lived Through the Tsunami B. A Lesson Learned from the Tsunami
C. A Good Friend Made in Thailand D. A Great Trip to Thailand
C
School clubs are more than just extracurricular activities. They are a vital part of school life that can make learning more enjoyable and help students grow.
Academic (学术的) clubs encourage students to participate in learning beyond the classroom. For instance, a math club might hold competitions and group talks that help students think in new ways and understand difficult ideas better. A science club could do fun experiments showing how school lessons work in real life. These activities make learning more interesting and help students remember what they study.
Confidence plays an important role in both academic success and social interactions. Clubs offer a supportive environment where students can discover new passions and get better at things they enjoy. Whether speaking in a debate club, acting in a theatre club, or building robots in a tech club, students get praised for their work, which makes them feel good about themselves. Overcoming challenges in a club setting — such as presenting in front of an audience or leading a group project — helps them become stronger and more confident in all parts of life.
Besides learning skills, clubs help students make friends. When students like the same things, they become friends who can share thoughts, get advice and help each other. Liking the same things creates strong friendships that continue after school. Feeling part of a group is especially helpful during tough school times, giving students support and reasons to keep trying.
Clubs naturally need teamwork, whether planning activities, sharing materials, or working toward group goals. Through these experiences, students learn to work well with others, divide up jobs, and solve problems together. Being a club leader, like president or project helper, teaches students to be reliable, make choices, and encourage their classmates. These lessons prepare students to work well with others and lead with confidence in the future.
School clubs offer endless opportunities for personal development, fun, and friendship. Whether you are already a club member or are thinking about joining one, remember that every club experience is a step toward becoming the best version of yourself.
7. What is the main benefit of joining academic clubs?
A. They focus on group competitions. B. They offer fun after-school activities.
C. They give students more after-class exercises. D. They help students learn outside the classroom.
8. How do school clubs help students make friends?
A. By creating a competitive environment.
B. By offering both fun and learning experiences.
C. By creating a space for students to meet different people.
D. By allowing students to meet others with similar interests.
9. What can we infer about club leadership roles?
A. They are mainly about organizing events.
B. They involve working without considering others’ ideas.
C. They help students improve their academic performance.
D. They teach students how to manage complex tasks.
10. Where does this text probably come from?
A. A student handbook. B. A research paper. C. A teacher’s blog. D. A business website.

The Fall and Rise of a Star
I was certain that every student in my high school drama class noticed the paper shaking in my hands as I stood up to try out for the lead role in the play, I wasn’t there by choice, but rather because the teacher required that each of us have a try for a part.
As a “mode!” student, I went along with the request, even though it filled me with fear. I was small for my age, wore secondhand clothes, and cried easily. I desperately wished to remain in my seat and disappear into the background. However, there I was standing, on stage. Reading lines (台词), at least, was something I liked, So, I began to read.
Within moments, the fear was gone. I was reading the part for the main character, “Star,” who possessed an optimistic view on life despite being an orphan (孤儿). I wasn’t an orphan myself, but I felt like one. My father had left us, and my mother worked during the day, attended school at night and spent her weekends buried in homework, It was easy for me to believe that Star’s words were also my own. I finished reading and quickly returned to my seat. When the teacher announced the cast list and called my name, I was lost in my thoughts.
“Patty,” she repeated, “you are Star, Come and collect your lines.”
“This cannot be! How is it possible?” With a racing heart, I approached the teacher to get the pages.
I practiced every day — while walking to school, during lunch breaks, before bedtime, and even on weekends. In the beginning, I was worried about forgetting my lines, but I managed to learn them by heart. My confidence was gradually growing.
Then came the rehearsals (排练). It was during this stage that I began to doubt my confidence once again, I was too nervous to act, I frequently forgot my lines. Then after several failures, I finally reached my breaking point. I ran out towards the stairs and started to cry, “I can’t do it!”

【61题答案】
【答案】Suddenly, I felt several gentle hands on my arms. Voices enveloped me, and a warm hand took hold of mine. Through tear-filled eyes, I looked up at concerned faces. The teacher and some of my classmates had followed me. “Please don’t quit,” one of them said firmly. “You can do it. Come on!” All of a sudden, the feeling of being like an orphan disappeared. My heart was filled with warmth. Greatly encouraged and deeply moved, I bravely returned to the stage after drying my tears. The rehearsals eventually went on smoothly, setting the stage for the final performance.
The day finally arrived and the performance received an enthusiastic response. The audience exploded in thunderous cheers and the teacher smiled with great satisfaction, as if saying “Great job!”. Getting off the stage, our classmates hugged each other excitedly, feeling proud of ourselves. I felt like a bird soaring through the sky.
