重点:1. 听懂 announcement 并提取关键信息;2. 掌握并运用 would rather do... / would prefer to do... 表偏好。
难点:1. 在真实对话中灵活运用偏好表达;2. 听力中快速捕捉并记录细节。

Step 3 Talking
Activity 1 Work in groups of three and role-play the conversation.
Debbie: Where have you been? You missed the announcement about the music festival.
John: I was at the doctor's office. Music festival?
Frank: Yes, it's going to be next month on the school sports field. John, you can play the piano. How about playing it at the festival?
John: Well, I'd rather play the violin. I can play Liang Zhu.
Frank: Wow! Sounds good. What about you, Debbie?
Debbie: Actually, I don't have much musical ability. I'd prefer just to help out with the crowds.
Frank: You can sell tickets or work at a food stand.
John: So can I assume that the aim of the festival is to raise money?
Debbie: Yes. All of the money will go to charity.
John: Well, if it's for a good cause, everyone should take part!
Activity 2 Read the conversation again. Underline the expressions that show preferences.

Write down two more expressions for talking about preferences:

Activity 3 Create a conversation with your partner about a Wuhan-themed music festival.
Situation: Our school will hold a music festival on the sports field. Wuhan local bands will perform, and food stands will sell hot dry noodles (热干面), doupi (豆皮) and other Wuhan snacks.
Choose one role and make a conversation. Use at least two preference expressions (would rather / would prefer) and talk about Wuhan elements.
Role A: You sing well and want to perform. You'd rather sing than play an instrument.
Role B: You can't sing or play an instrument, but you'd prefer to help out — for example, at a food stand selling hot dry noodles, or selling tickets.
Useful questions:
1. Would you like to sing or play a musical instrument? How else could you help?
2. Whom would you invite to the festival?
