八年级学生已掌握一般现在时、一般过去时与一般将来时等基本时态，具备一定的词汇量，能围绕校园与家庭生活进行简单的描述与交流；但本单元的话题由“个人生活”扩展到“社会服务与公共参与”，语篇形式也由对话扩展到招募网页、访谈与应用文，学习中学生容易出现以下问题：一是志愿服务类词汇较长、较抽象，如 volunteer, community, responsible, adaptability 等词拼写与词族变化掌握不牢；二是“动词不定式作宾语”与“动词不定式作表语”两种用法容易混用，常在 to 后误用动词的其他形式；三是 if 引导的条件状语从句中“主将从现”的规则运用不熟，主句与从句的时态搭配出错；四是书面表达中只罗列“志愿服务很重要”之类的空话，缺少具体的服务经历与真实感受。 （四）设计意图
