Yangzhou is an ancient city. It is in the eastern part of Jiangsu Province. There are lots of places of interest. It just took my breath away. I couldn’t help picking a lotus flower, but my father said it was bad to hurt the flowers. Besides, the Slender West Lake is famous for the different kinds of fantastic ancient buildings. We walked along the Wuting Bridge and climbed the ancient tower. Later we went shopping and bought a few silk scarves for our friends in the street market. At noon we tried the delicious special food — huaiyangcai. After that, we took part in some activities. Some parents think children should play a lot in their childhood. However, some parents think children should learn more useful things. They teach their children to do chores by themselves early. What are chores? Chores are things we need to do every day, like washing the dishes and sweeping the floor. Here are some advantages that helping out with chores will bring to children.
First, doing chores teaches children life skills. Children will need to do many hard things by themselves one day, so they should learn more life skills as early as possible. Doing chores like cooking, feeding pets and cleaning the house can help them become more independent and teach them how to solve problems by themselves.
Second, doing chores helps children learn to respect others. If children are asked to clean up the house, they may know better about the mess they make. And they will respect others’ work more.
Third, doing chores helps children be better at making plans and organizing their time. There are a lot of things to do every day, and it’s hard to fit them all in. Children need to do their homework, do housework and make friends. Learning to do these well helps them know what the most important thing is and how to organize their time well.

Mooncakes are a kind of special food of the Mid-Autumn Festival. They are in the shape of a full moon because people hope all their family can get together all the time.
When I was a child, my family always got together in my grandparents’ home at the Mid-Autumn Festival. We sat around a big round table and made mooncakes by hand together. We followed my grandma’s ways of making mooncakes. And my grandpa told interesting stories to us. Everyone was tired but with a happy face.
As I was older, my family and I moved to different cities. We were busy working and learning, so we seldom sat together and talked with each other. And it was different at the Mid-Autumn Festival. There were different kinds of beautiful and delicious mooncakes in the shops. However, my grandma still asked us to go back to make mooncakes together. She told us she liked doing that for it could let us get together and let us not forget those old hard days.
We all know what a mooncake brings for us. It passes our love to our family and makes Chinese virtue (美德) be passed down for a long time.
42. Why are mooncakes in the shape of a full-moon?
A. Because people hope all their family can always get together.
B. Because people hope all their family can get together at the Mid-Autumn Festival.
C. Because people hope all their family can sometimes get together.
D. Because people hope all their family can never get together.
43. Where did the writer’s family get together at the Mid-Autumn Festival?

A. To tell us to treasure the time with our family.
