Imagine this: You are standing in front of a huge building. When you enter it, you find there are many gardens and open areas inside. Most surprisingly, its roof has a farm that is full of all kinds of 1 . This isn’t an art museum or a scene from a sci-fi movie. This is the Fangshan campus of Beijing No.4 High School.
Usually, schools mean square buildings, separate classrooms, rows of desks and a teacher standing at the front. Most campuses have looked this way for many years. But as time goes by, traditional campuses 2 no longer meet students’ needs. There are now new schools that look quite 3 from the old ones.
Take the Beijing No. 4 High School Fangshan campus for example. The school believes that 4 doesn’t just happen in the classroom, but all over the campus. The design of its campus makes students go outside, play and 5 with each other.
Future campuses will 6 create more chances for teachers and students to interact (互动). “In the information age, the most important commodity (有价值之物) on a campus is social space to meet and 7 each other,” said Thomas, an architect (建筑师) from the United Kingdom.
Thomas designed a teaching building for Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Students can enter the building from 8 directions. All of its rooms are round and link to each other 9 long corridors (走廊) separating them.
There are many possibilities for future schools. But no matter 10 they look like, students are sure to be more active and creative in these campuses.

三、阅读理解
① Do you have true friends? Do you want to know better between you and your friends? There are three different kinds of friends: “pest friends” “guest friends” and “best friends”.
② The first kind of friend is acquaintances (熟人), and all you usually know about them is their names. You may meet this kind of friend at school or on the bus, but you don’t miss them when they’re not around. When this kind of friend does something bad, you don’t tell them. That is why they are called “pest friends”.
③ The second kind of friend could also be called “guest friends”. They are closer than acquaintances, but not as close as true friends. You know their names, a little of what they like or dislike, and a little of their family members. You usually have a few things in common, but you don’t talk about anything deep, such as your wishes or fears, and they don’t open up to you how they really feel.
④ The last kind of friend, the “best friend”, is the one you know the deepest. You’re like family, and know everything about each other. You have no problem staying at each other’s houses, and you share your deepest feelings and thoughts. They will correct you when you’re wrong. They will always care about you, and never do anything on purpose (故意地) to hurt you.
⑤ We all have our pest, guest, and best friends. We should value all friendships and remember that all best friends start out as just acquaintances.
1.If you have pest friends, you may only know their ________.
A.names B.hobbies C.qualities D.homes
2.What does the underlined word “they” refer to in Paragraph 3?
A.Good friends. B.Best friends. C.Guest friends. D.Pest friends.

4.The writer wrote the passage mainly to ________.
A.teach us how to find “best friends” B.warn us not to know more about “pest friends”
C.tell us to value all friendships D.encourage us to make more friends
【答案】1.A 2.C 3.B 4.C

Numbers are important in our daily life. We not only use numbers to count things, but also use them to express different meanings in our language. Here are some examples of them.
Some problems are difficult to solve, but there are a lot of numerical expressions that can help. For example, if we put two and two together, we might come up with the right answer. We know that two heads are better than one. It is always better to work with another person to solve a problem.
Sometimes we can kill two birds with one stone. That is to say, we can complete two goals (目标) with only one effort or action. But we must remember that two wrongs don’t make a right. If someone does something bad to you, you should not do the same to him.
If you are going out with your girlfriend or boyfriend, you do not want another friend to go with you. You can just say to your friend: Two’s company, three’s a crowd.
When I was a young child in school, I had to learn the three Rs. These important skills are reading, writing and arithmetic (算术). These three words do not all start with the letter “R”, but they have the sound of “R”.
These are some expressions about numbers. Hope they can be useful to you.
1.What does the first paragraph mainly talk about?
A.Numbers are easy to use. B.Numbers are useful in Maths.
C.The importance of numbers in our life. D.Different languages have different numbers.

A.You killed two birds with one stone. B.Two wrongs don’t make a right.
C.You need to finish three Rs. D.Two’s company, three’s a crowd.
3.Which is NOT one of the three Rs according to the passage?
A.Reading. B.Writing. C.Reporting. D.Arithmetic.
4.What can we know from the article?
A.All the number expressions can help you solve problems.
B.Putting two and two together means adding two men’s wisdom together.
C.If someone does something bad to you, you should do the same to him.

What’s your favourite school subject? Do you love maths? Does English interest you? Or are you more of a scientist? We all have favourite subjects, but what if you studied two or more together instead of learning about each subject separately (分别地)? That’s exactly how some students in Finland (芬兰) are learning.
When students learn about topics such as world events, they study several subjects together. For example, in a course about World War II, the students study history, geography and maths. Learning about topics, not just one subject, helps students see several points of view. In another course, called “Working in a café”, students study English, communication skills and economics (经济学) .
Finnish educators (教育者) believe students learn better when they work in groups. Working together helps students develop their ability to communicate. At this point, students in Finland don’t spend their whole school day working in groups. They still attend regular classes and study some subjects separately. But Finland is serious about making changes to the school day and to how students learn.
Finnish schools are making this change, because they believe that working together to study topics is better and more challenging for students than working alone or studying only one subject at a time.
In addition, they feel that students who choose to study topics that they care about and to work together with teachers and other students become better learners. They also feel that students who learn in this way are better prepared for jobs.

A.Most Finnish teachers like discussing with students.
B.Some students prefer to work alone and not in groups.
C.Schools should have separate classrooms and hallways.
D.Recent changes in Finnish education are good for students.
4.What’s the best title for the text?

With prices and building costs rising, the DIY trend in the US continues to grow.
“We needed furniture for our living room, ”says John Ross, “and we just didn’t have enough money to buy it. So we decided to try making a few tables and chairs. ”John got married (结婚) six months ago, and like many young people these days, they are trying to make a home at a time when the cost of living is very high. The Rosses took a 2-week course for $280 at a night school. Now they build all their furniture and make repairs around the house.
Jim has three boys and his wife died. He has a full-time job at home as well as in a shoemaking factory. Last month, he received a car repair bill for $420. That is a large sum. “I was upset about it. But later, I finished a car repair course; Now, I should be able to fix the car by myself. ”
John and Jim are not unusual people. Most families in the country are doing everything they can to save money, so they can fight the high cost of living. Last Sunday was Mom’s 40th birthday. I wanted to give her a special gift, not a store bought one. Dad suggested a necklace (项链), but I said, “No—I’ll make it myself. It has more love.” So I decided to make a photo frame (相框) with our family photo from last summer.
I found materials at home: thin wood from the garage (Dad used it for a shelf), white glue, colorful paper, scissors, markers, and rose stickers—Mom loves roses.
At first, I tried cutting the wood into a 20cm square with small scissors, but it slipped. I got angry, then remembered Mom’s words: “Be more patient.” I asked Dad for a small saw. He taught me to use it safely, and we cut the square. I sanded the edges (边缘), so Mom wouldn’t hurt her hands.
Then I decorated it: I glued colorful paper on the frame, drew small flowers with markers, stuck rose stickers on the corners, and wrote “I love you, Mom!” in big letters. I also learned to fold three paper hearts and glued them on. It took two hours—my hands were sticky, but I didn’t care.
When Mom came home, I gave her the frame. She held it, looked for a long time, then cried happy tears. She hugged me tight: “This is the most beautiful gift! I’ll put it on my desk.” Later, she sent a photo of it to Grandma.
DIY gifts aren’t easy—you make mistakes and spend time, but they’re special because of your heart. Try one for your family’s birthday; it just needs to show care. I’m already thinking about Dad’s birthday gift now!
1.What tool did the writer use to cut the wood finally?
A.A knife. B.A saw. C.Scissors. D.Dad’s tool.
2.Why did Mom cry when she got the frame?
A.Because she didn’t like the rose stickers.
B.Because she hurt her hands on the wood edges.
C.Because she was sad the frame was not perfect.
D.Because she was moved (感动的) by the writer’s love.
3.What does “sanded” mean in Paragraph 3?
A.Cut the wood into a square. B.Stuck colorful paper on the wood.
C.Made the edges smooth with sandpaper. D.Drew flowers on the wood with markers.
4.What does the writer tell us in the last paragraph?
A.DIY gifts are special because of love. B.Family birthdays need expensive gifts.
C.Dad’s birthday gift will be a photo frame. D.DIY gifts are easy to make and save time.
【答案】1.B 2.D 3.C 4.A

Maybe you are an average (普通的) student. 1 However, this is not necessarily so. Anyone can become a better student if he or she wants to. Here are some tips to help you.
Plan your time carefully. When you plan your week, you should make a list of things that you have to do. After making this list, you should make a schedule of your time. First arrange your time for eating, sleeping, dressing, etc. Then, decide a good, regular time for studying. 2 A weekly schedule may not solve all your problems, but it will force you to realize what is happening to your time.
Find a good place to study. Look around the house for a good study area. Keep this space, which may be a desk or simply a corner of your room, free of everything but study materials. No games, radios, or television! When you sit down to study, concentrate on the subject.
Make good use of your time in class. 3 Really listening in class means less work later. Taking notes will help you remember what the teacher says.
Study regularly (有规律地). When you get home from school, go over your notes. Review the important points that your teacher mentioned in class. If you know what your teacher is going to discuss the next day, read that material. 4 If you do these things regularly, the material will become more meaningful, and you will remember it longer.
Develop a good attitude (态度) about tests. The purpose of a test is to show what you have learned about a subject. They help you remember your new knowledge. The world won’t end if you don’t pass a test, so don’t be over worried.
5 You will probably discover many others after you have tried these.
A.There are other methods that might help you with your studying.
B.Don’t forget to set aside enough time for relaxation.
C.Take advantage of class time to listen to everything the teachers say.
D.No one can become a top student unless he or she works hard.
E.You probably think you will never be a top student.
F.Make full use of class time to take notes of what the teacher says in class.
G.This will help you understand the next class.

However, everything changed on International Day of Friendship. In class that day, everyone had to make three presents to give to their three best friends.
2.If your friend won a football match and made two friends in the match, what would you say to him?
A.You killed two birds with one stone. B.Two wrongs don’t make a right.
C.You need to finish three Rs. D.Two’s company, three’s a crowd.
3.Which is NOT one of the three Rs according to the passage?
A.Reading. B.Writing. C.Reporting. D.Arithmetic.
4.What can we know from the article?
A.All the number expressions can help you solve problems.
B.Putting two and two together means adding two men’s wisdom together.
C.If someone does something bad to you, you should do the same to him.
D.The writer didn’t need to learn arithmetic when he was at school.
1.How does the writer start the text?
A.By comparing facts.B.By listing numbers. C.By raising questions. D.By telling stories.
2.What subjects can students study in a course about World War II?
① English. ② History. ③ Maths. ④ Geography.
A.①②③ B.②③④ C.①③④ D.①②③④
3.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.Most Finnish teachers like discussing with students.
B.Some students prefer to work alone and not in groups.
C.Schools should have separate classrooms and hallways.
D.Recent changes in Finnish education are good for students.
4.What’s the best title for the text?
A.Group Learning in Finland B.New Learning Methods in Finland
C.The Most Popular Subjects in Schools D.The Important Life Skills for Students

Recently, short videos have got millions of views online. Many people make and share short videos on popular video apps like Tik Tok and Kuaishou. They can even add music and special effects (特效) to their videos. The videos are a few seconds or minutes long. They show people who are doing activities like cooking, exercising and singing.
Teenagers especially enjoy these videos. More than 50% of high school students say they enjoy watching these short videos. About 47% have posted (发布) their own videos, according to a report by China National Youth Palace Association.
The videos let young people see interesting and exciting things they can’t usually see. Many young people like to share the fun things they do with others.
However, the videos can also cause trouble. Some students spend too much time watching them, so they don’t have enough time to study. Some videos have a bad effect on young people. So Tik Tok added a new function (功能) in April. It may lock the app if someone uses the app for over two hours a day. In the same month, the government also did something to stop young people using this app too much.
1.How many high school students have posted their own videos according to a report?
2.What trouble can the short videos cause?
3.Would you like to watch short videos online? Why or why not?

She realized she was a good companion (伙伴), but she hadn’t been a true friend to anyone.
That night, Fiona told her mother about everything. Her mother said, “My dear, you cannot buy friends with a smile or a few good words. If you want true friends, you must give them time and real care.”
