18. What is a likely goal of the community program?
A. To bridge the digital divide.

【答案】18. A 19. B 20. C
【解析】
【原文】W: Over the summer, I came across a notice for a community “Senior & Teen” program. It paired up teenagers with neighbors over 60, so I decided to give it a shot. That’s how I got matched with Mrs. Brown, who lives alone a few streets over.
The rules were pretty straightforward: visit Mrs. Brown every Tuesday and Saturday afternoon — for about an hour each time. Most of our sessions were about me helping her with tech stuff, like using her phone to message, shop online, or scan old photos into a digital album. I still remember her laugh when she finally sent that album to her daughter all by herself.
We also had to turn in a short “Community Memory” each week, based on our chats. At first, I thought it was kind of a pointless assignment. But hearing Mrs. Brown’s stories about the neighborhood back in the day made me realize something: a community isn’t just houses and streets — it’s built from all these little memories that people carry with them.

At Pearson International Airport, Canada’s largest and busiest airport, my responsibility is to ensure the smooth transit of connecting passengers. This task involves not only answering questions about boarding gates and departure times but also addressing the various challenges that arise during their layovers (停留) . After long, non-stop flights, these travelers are often tired and hungry, seeking rest in the form of coffee, food, and a quiet lounge (休息室) , but instead, they face confusion and stress while waiting for their luggage and boarding their next flight. My role is to keep them calm and informed during this stressful time.
The lounge, like a pressure cooker, is a small world of human emotions, where stress can rise quickly. The connecting passengers, fully aware of time limits, are usually in a rush, their stress levels heightened by the fear of missing their flights. Some express their frustrations loudly, while others are reduced to tears, as the stress of travel overshadows their excitement.
In such moments, the core of our role becomes one of empathy — putting ourselves in the shoes of our passengers and offering help wherever possible. If their flight is about to leave, we tell them to run to their gate, saying, “Run! Run!” Sometimes, I even run with them, turning the airport into a race against time.
Given the short-lived nature of our interactions, brevity is the standard. Yet, even within these brief encounters, we strive to build connections. A simple “Ni hao” to Chinese passengers or a cheerful “Hola” to Spanish-speaking travelers can bring a smile to an otherwise preoccupied stranger.
The airport, far from being a dull place, is a stage where the full range of human emotions is vividly displayed: the sadness of tearful goodbyes, the joy of family reunions, the anxiety of endless lines, and the disappointment of missed connections. In these moments, I am reminded that, regardless of our origins, we are united in our ability to understand and our willingness to help. Here, we are family.
24. What is the author’s main role?
A. Ensures flights leave on time. B. Manages airport lounges.
C. Keeps the airport quiet. D. Helps passengers with their needs.
25. Why is the lounge compared to a pressure cooker?
A. It’s physically hot and uncomfortable. B. Conflicts happen frequently.
C. Passengers worry about missing flights. D. It’s overcrowded and dirty.
26. What can be inferred about the author’s interactions with passengers?
A. They are long and personal. B. They are short but meaningful.
C. They focus on solving conflicts. D. They are formal and structured.
27. What makes the airport “a stage where the full range of human emotions is vividly displayed”?
A. The high-stress environment of air travel.
B. The variety of activities and services offered.
C. The presence of family members and friends.
D. The diverse cultural backgrounds of the passengers.
【答案】24. D 25. C 26. B 27. A

【24题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段最后一句“My role is to keep them calm and informed during this stressful time.(我的职责是让他们在这个紧张的时刻保持冷静和知情。)”以及第三段中 “In such moments, the core of our role becomes one of empathy—putting ourselves in the shoes of our passengers and offering help wherever possible.( 在这样的时刻,我们角色的核心是移情——设身处地为乘客着想,尽可能地提供帮助。)”可知,作者的主要角色是帮助乘客满足他们的需求,在他们压力大的时候让他们保持冷静并告知相关信息。故选D项。
【25题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段中“The lounge, like a pressure cooker, is a small world of human emotions, where stress can rise quickly. The connecting passengers, fully aware of time limits, are usually in a rush, their stress levels heightened by the fear of missing their flights.(休息室就像一个高压锅,是一个人类情感的小世界,在这里压力会迅速上升。转机的乘客很清楚时间限制,通常都很着急,担心错过航班加剧了他们的压力水平。)”可推知,休息室被比作高压锅是因为转机乘客担心错过航班,压力很大。故选C项。
【26题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段中“Given the short-lived nature of our interactions, brevity is the standard. Yet, even within these brief encounters, we strive to build connections.( 鉴于我们互动的短暂性,简洁是标准。然而,即使在这些短暂的接触中,我们也努力建立联系。)”可知,作者与乘客的互动时间很短,但他们努力建立联系,说明这些互动虽短却有意义。故选B项。
【27题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段中“The airport, far from being a dull place, is a stage where the full range of human emotions is vividly displayed: the sadness of tearful goodbyes, the joy of family reunions, the anxiety of endless lines, and the disappointment of missed connections.( 机场绝不是一个沉闷的地方,而是一个舞台,在这里,人类的各种情感都得到了生动的展示:含泪告别的悲伤,家人团聚的喜悦,无尽的排队的焦虑,以及错过航班的失望。)”并结合前文提到的乘客在机场因航班等问题压力大,可知是航空旅行的高压力环境使得机场成为人类各种情感生动展现的舞台。故选A项。

This year, the inspiring start-up OneCourt has made significant progress in creating a more inclusive experience for blind and low-vision basketball enthusiasts. By introducing tactile (触觉的) devices at games, they have opened up a new world of sports enjoyment.
With OneCourt’s innovative technology, fans can now engage with the game in a unique way, allowing them to “watch the game through their fingers”. These tablet-sized devices provide real-time data through distinctive buzzing patterns, making it easy for users to follow the ball and understand team possession.
In another exciting development, Kylie Kelce, the wife of Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce, is devoted to making stadium experiences more accessible. Recognizing that the loud and chaotic atmosphere of a game isn’t ideal for everyone, she helped introduce a mobile sensory-friendly unit at Lincoln Financial Field. This welcoming space features comfortable bean bags, soft lighting and engaging wall art, providing a space for fans who may feel overwhelmed.
Farraro, an expert, enthusiastically shared his thoughts after trying the unit, saying, “To be able to come into this space — it’s quiet; it’s calm. You have all of these distractions, and you can send your brain somewhere else for a little bit.”
In the spirit of inclusion, the Miracle League in Auburn Hills, Michigan is hitting home runs by creating an environment where every player can thrive (蓬勃发展). This organization provides a safe space for disabled athletes to play on rubber turf (草皮), which ensures better footing for everyone, including wheelchair users.
Miracle League’s commitment to accessibility is truly inspiring. With wheelchair-accessible dugouts (球员席), and a buddy system, they welcome players with various physical and intellectual disabilities. Their most heartening policy? Ensuring that every player gets a turn at bat, regardless of their pace, allowing everyone to experience the joy of the game.
These initiatives showcase the spirit of inclusivity in sports. By making thoughtful accommodations, we can all enjoy the beautiful game together.

Molecules in blood and urine may reveal how much energy a person consumes from ultra-processed foods, according to a new study.
It’s the first time that scientists have identified biological markers that can indicate higher or lower intake of the foods, which are linked to a number of health problems, said Erikka Loftfield, a US National Cancer Institute researcher who led the study.
She said it could help us to understand more about the impact of these products on our health. Ultra-processed foods — like sugary cereals, sodas, chips, frozen pizzas and more — are products created through industrial processes with ingredients such as additives, colors and preservatives not found in home kitchens.
However, studying their health impacts is hard because it’s difficult to accurately track what people eat. Typical diet studies rely on asking people what they ate during a certain period. But such reports are known to be unreliable because people don’t remember everything they ate, or they don’t record their diets accurately.
In this study, Loftfield and her colleagues examined existing data of more than 1,000 older US adults. More than 700 of them had provided blood and urine samples, as well as detailed dietary recall reports, collected over a year.
The scientists found that hundreds of metabolites — products of digestion and other processes — corresponded to the percentage of energy a person consumes from ultra-processed foods. From those, they devised a system using 28 blood markers and up to 33 urine markers that reliably predicted ultra-processed food intake in people consuming typical diets.
It’s still early research, but identifying blood and urine markers to predict consumption of ultra-processed foods is “a major scientific advance,” said Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian from Tufts University, who was not involved in the study. Loftfield said she hoped to apply the tool to existing studies where blood and urine samples are available to track, for instance, the effect of consuming ultra-processed foods on cancer risk.
However, at a time when support for government research is being cut, funding remains uncertain.
32. How did the researchers conduct their study?
A. By testing new food additives in laboratories.
B. By interviewing people about their eating habits.
C. By analyzing blood and urine samples with dietary data.
D. By comparing home-cooked meals with processed foods.
33. The word “metabolites” in paragraph 6 most likely refers to _________.
A. artificial food colors. B. kitchen cooking ingredients.
C. substances from bodily processes. D. industrial additives in processed foods.
34. What is Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian’s attitude toward the new method?
A. Skeptical. B. Favorable. C. Indifferent. D. Critical.
35. What is the author’s primary purpose in writing this passage?
A. To criticize the food industry’s use of additives.
B. To promote government funding for cancer research.
C. To compare different methods of dietary assessment.
D. To explain a scientific breakthrough in diet tracking.
【答案】32. C 33. C 34. B 35. D

【解析】
【导语】文章主要讲述作者童年借自然疗愈自我,结合古今依据说明自然的治愈力量与户外益处。
【36题详解】
上文“Raised in a home where tension surfaced from time to time, I realized from a young age that the house wasn’t always comforting.(在一个时常充满紧张气氛的家庭中长大,我从小就意识到家里并不总是令人安心的)”点明家中氛围不佳,难以带来慰藉。D选项“So whenever I could, I went outside to enjoy what nature offered.(所以只要有机会,我就会出门去享受大自然所给予的一切)”与上文构成因果衔接,正因家中缺少舒适感,作者才选择走向户外;同时引出下文“I spent hours exploring the woods behind my house.(我会花好几个小时探索家后面的树林)”等户外探索的具体行为,上下文语意连贯自然。
【37题详解】
上文“Outside, birds fly; flowers come out; rivers rush by and waves crash against the beach and return to the sea.(在户外,鸟儿飞翔;花朵绽放;河流奔腾而过,海浪拍打着海滩又退回大海)”描绘了自然界各类事物不断运动变化的画面。C选项“The natural world is constantly moving and reinventing itself.(自然界始终在不断运动、重塑自我)”是对上文景象的总结提炼;又呼应下文“Maybe, I thought, I could grow, change and rebuild my life too.(我想,或许我也可以成长、改变,重新构建自己的生活)”,作者从自然的自我更新中获得人生启发,上下文逻辑顺畅。
【38题详解】
下文“Hippocrates, the father of medicine in the fourth century B. C., stressed nature’s ability to heal us. In recent decades, scientific studies have related going outdoors to improved mental health.(公元前四世纪的医学之父希波克拉底,就强调过大自然治愈人类的能力。近几十年来,科学研究也将走进户外与心理健康状况改善关联起来)”分别从古代先贤观点与现代科学研究两个维度,佐证自然具备疗愈作用。A选项“The idea that nature has healing power is not new.(大自然拥有治愈力量这一观点并不是新近才有的)”总领本段内容,点明该观点历史悠久,与下文古今依据相互呼应。
【39题详解】
上文“Nature was the first mental health tool I had access to in life. As an adult, I’ve added ways like talk therapy (疗法), EMDR, and bodywork.(大自然是我人生中最早能接触到的心理健康调节方式。成年后,我又增添了谈话疗法、眼动脱敏再加工疗法以及身体理疗等方式)”介绍了作者不同阶段使用的疗愈手段。F选项“But the outdoors was — and will remain — a context for my healing.(但户外过去是、未来也仍会是我疗愈自我的重要依托)”与上文构成转折逻辑,即便新增了多种专业疗法,自然在作者疗愈过程中的核心地位始终不变,衔接自然。
【40题详解】
上文“Whether we walk in a city park or climb a mountain, the outdoors offers an opportunity to take a break and renew ourselves.(无论我们是在城市公园散步还是去爬山,户外都能提供一个让我们休憩、恢复活力的机会)”点明户外具备让人休整焕新的作用。E选项“It provides enough to wake our senses and keep us in the moment.(它能充分唤醒我们的感官,让我们专注于当下)”中“It”指代上文的“the outdoors”,进一步阐释户外发挥疗愈作用的具体方式;同时引出下文“Like wildlife, we can grow and adapt, fit into our surroundings, and become more energetic, making our lives more lively.(就像野生生物一样,我们可以成长、适应,融入周遭环境,变得更有活力,让生活更加鲜活)”,语意衔接紧密。

第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
In the corner of our basement sits a shelf filled with old radios — wooden boxes with metal buttons and antennas (天线), whose colors faded with time. To most, they might seem like waste. But to my grandfather, they were treasure chests of stories.
My grandfather grew up in a small mountain village, where the only way to hear news of the outside world was through an old, noisy and unclear radio that he fixed by connecting wires under high heat. “I didn’t understand most of the words,” he used to laugh. “But the music spoke to me.” Fixing radios became more than a hobby — it was how he reached out to the world. He learned everything through repeated trials, until broken silence turned into sound again.
My mother never planned to keep this habit. As a teenager, she preferred tape players and music that she could carry with her. But when Grandpa passed away, she couldn’t throw away his tools or the radios he left. “They’re part of him,” she once said, gently turning a round metal button on one of the radios. Slowly, she began trying to fix a few of them, not as an expert, but with care and curiosity.
By the time I was ten, I had watched my mother spend many weekends surrounded by small parts and wires. “Come and try with me,” she said one Saturday. “Let’s see if we can fix this one together.” I didn’t know what to do, and I didn’t even like machines. I enjoyed reading and drawing. But when she turned the button and a jazz tune started playing, I felt something touched me.
Soon, fixing radios became our weekly activity. She showed me how to look closely at every wire and tiny part, and how to be patient and listen carefully. “Sometimes the problem isn’t what you see,” she said. “It’s what you hear — or don’t hear.”
Unlike my mother, I fell in love with it quickly. I began collecting old radios from neighbors and even tried fixing ones that no longer worked. I didn’t just want to make them work — I wanted to bring back their sound.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
One winter evening, a sudden power cut hit our village.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
When the power was restored, everyone thanked me for bringing them music.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
One winter evening, a sudden power cut hit our village. The whole village was swallowed by darkness, and the cold silence seemed to stretch endlessly. I quickly invited the neighbors over to my house. From a large box, I took out several radios I had repaired over the past few weeks — old sets they had once given me, broken and forgotten. I placed them on a wooden bench and began turning the metal buttons, adjusting the metal antennas one by one. Slowly, voices and music began to rise. People leaned in, eyes wide, smiles spreading across their anxious faces.
When the power was restored, everyone thanked me for bringing them music. However, I shook my head and said, “It wasn’t just me — it was Grandpa.” I began telling them how he had fixed his first radio before and how he passed that quiet love down to my mother. As I spoke, everyone listened carefully and nodded in agreement. That night, I understood something deeper: fixing radios wasn’t only about sound or skill — it was about connection. In moments of silence or trouble, these old radios carried more than news or music; they carried the stories of who we are. And as long as someone keeps tuning in, that story will continue.

28. What is the primary function of OneCourt’s devices?

B. To record players’ statistics during matches.
C. To provide a touch-based game experience.
D. To improve visual tracking for low-vision fans.

A. It is too quiet and boring.
B. It provides a calming escape.
C. It offers exciting distractions.

At first I thought I was kind of a pointless assignment, but hearing mrs. Most of our sessions were about me helping her with tech stuff, like using her phone to message, shop online or scan old photos into a digital album. I still remember her laugh when SHE finally sent that album to her daughter all by herself. We also had to turn in a short community memory each week based on our chats. At first I thought I was kind of a pointless assignment, but here ing, mrs. Brown's stories about the neighborhood back in the day made me realize something. A community isn't just houses and streets. It's built from all these little memories that people Carry with them. 听力部分到此结束。
