students(学生)在后文才出场;relatives(亲戚)、workers(工人)文中无对应信息,不合语境。
根据开篇成语“a lamb getting lost in forked roads”,全文围绕走失的羊展开。应选用lost(丢失的),契合故事主线。dead(死的)、ill(生病的)、hurt(受伤的),文中没有羊受伤或死亡的描述,与题意无关。
lookup(查阅);look after(照顾);look through(浏览),均没有“寻找”含义,不符语境。
根据固定搭配ask sb. to do sth.(请求某人做某事)。 help(帮助)不能构成该搭配;order(命令)语气强硬;allow(允许)语义不通。
game(游戏)、show(演出)、party(聚会),均和找羊事件无关。
应选用Why(为什么),用于询问原因。When(何时)询问时间;What(什么)询问事物;Who(谁)询问人物,不能用because回答。
应选用explained(解释),符合一问一答的语境。shouted(大喊);complained(抱怨);discussed(讨论),此处仅回答疑问,词义不匹配。
根据后文杨朱再次发问“How could you fail to find it”,说明没有找到羊。 dirty(脏的);full(满的);warm(温暖的),无法体现没有找到羊的结果。
forget(忘记);decide(决定);agree(同意),代入句子语义不通。
happily(开心地);suddenly(突然);loudly(大声地),和silence(沉默)矛盾。
cow(牛)、dog(狗)、chicken(鸡),文中没有出现这些动物,与题意无关。
unless(除非);though(虽然);if(如果),逻辑关系不匹配。
分析正确选项:应选用right(正确的),the right direction表示正确的方向。wrong(错误的);big(大的);small(小的),代入语义不符。
应选用direction(方向),对应前文阐述的道理。difficulty(困难);result(结果);message(信息),和迷路主题不匹配。
根据固定搭配stick to(坚持);后文keep going(继续前行)。应选用stick,stick to their choices表示坚持选择,符合句意。trust(信任);prepare(准备);hurt(伤害),不能和to构成该短语。

Manta rays inspire new design
Manta rays (蝠鲼) have big, flat bodies that help them move well in the water. Chinese scientists have made a soft-body submersible in the same shape as the manta ray. This is the world's first soft-body submersible that looks like a manta ray. With two “eyes”, the submersible can “see” in the dark underwater. One looks ahead to find things, while the other looks to the sides to make a map of the ocean floor. The submersible can work in groups.

US scientists have made a 3D model to predict how mosquitoes fly. If mosquitoes can only see a target, they fly quickly toward it. If they can't see a target but can smell something like carbon dioxide (二氧化碳), they slow down and move back and forth to stay close. When mosquitoes can both see and smell the target, they fly in a circle around it and get ready to land. These findings could help make better traps (陷阱) to catch mosquitoes.

Emojis are small pictures that people use in messages. A smiling face, a heart or a thumbs-up can add feeling to a sentence and help people show happiness, surprise or a joke.
Emojis come from two Japanese words: e, meaning picture, and moji, meaning character. In 1999, designer Shigetaka Kurita created the first famous set of emojis in Japan. He made 176 tiny symbols for a Japanese company’s early mobile internet service. The designs used a 12×12 pixel grid (12×12像素网格) and included weather signs, hearts, faces and transport symbols for mobile phones.
At first, emoji systems did not always work between different phone companies. But a major change came when Unicode added hundreds of Japanese mobile-phone emojis to its standard in 2010. Unicode gives characters shared codes (编码), so phone and computer companies started using the same emoji codes. Now an emoji can travel with a message from one device to another and be read on many kinds of phones and computers.
________. Emojis do not have the grammar and vocabulary of a real language. Their meanings depend on context, audience and culture. A symbol may make a short message softer, but it can be understood differently by different groups. Emojis work best as an extra help beside words, not to take the place of language.
31. What were included in the first set of emojis?
a. weather signs b. hearts c. animal pictures d. plant icons
A. a&b B. b&c C. a&c D. b&d
32. Why could emojis travel among different phones after 2010?
A. Because phone companies improved their phones greatly.
B. Because Unicode provided shared codes for symbols.
C. Because Unicode collected many emojis for its system.
D. Because people used the same symbol in different situations.
33. Which of the following can be put in __________?
A. So emojis can take the place of language one day.
B. However, emojis are becoming more and more popular.
C. So people can understand emojis in the same way.
D. However, we cannot call emojis a universal language.
34. What does the underlined word “context” mean in Paragraph 4?
A. the grammar of a language B. the picture of an emoji symbol
C. the situation around the message D. the vocabulary of words
35. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. How emojis became a shared digital language. B. Why emojis will take the place of real language.
C. How to create new emoji symbols for phones. D. Why different cultures use different emojis.
31. A 32. B 33. D 34. C 35. A
根据文章第2段“The designs used a 12×12 pixel grid...and included weather signs, hearts, faces and transport symbols”可知,第一套表情符号的设计包含了天气符号和心形等图案,对应选项中的a和b。
根据文章第3段“Unicode gives characters shared codes... so phone and computer companies started using the same emoji codes”可知,Unicode提供了共享编码,使得不同公司的设备能使用相同的代码,从而让表情符号能在不同手机间传输。
根据文章第4段“Emojis do not have the grammar and vocabulary of a real language.”
根据文章第4段“Their meanings depend on context, audience and culture.”
C
How can we plant seven trees so that there are six rows (行), with three trees in each row? Wang Hong, now 35, still remembers the joy of solving this maths problem as a child. Today, that joy has grown into a lifelong love of maths. On July 23, she received the Fields Medal (菲尔兹奖) for solving the three-dimensional Kakeya conjecture (三维挂谷猜想). She became the first Chinese woman and the third woman ever to win this prize. However, Wang’s road to success was not easy. It was like the famous “needle” in the Kakeya conjecture: it kept turning and trying new directions before finding enough space.
At junior high school, Wang’s thinking was active but not always welcomed. She was once laughed at because she often raised her hand. Her teacher, Mr. Tang, comforted her and taught her to speak bravely and listen carefully. He also invited her to join a “Daily Problem” group to improve her maths thinking.
In 2007, Wang got into Peking University but missed the math program by a few points. After studying two majors in the first year, she transferred (转入) to math. But college-level math was tough, and most of Wang’s classmates had training in Mathematics Olympiads “I feel like I was always struggling (挣扎),” she said. In 2011, she left for France and later the US. There, she met many unsolved problems. She started to doubt whether she was good enough to do mathematical research and even considered giving up maths to become an architect (建筑师).
But later, she realized that research wasn’t about having all the answers. Even rough ideas and questions without answers still count. They all help us learn more deeply. The joy of maths lies not only in the answer. It lies in the thinking itself. And this joy finally beat doubt and led Wang to her great success.
36. Why does the writer compare Wang Hong’s life to the “needle” in Paragraph 1?
A. Her childhood influenced the maths study. B. Her path to maths included changes and turns.
C. Her success depended on hard work. D. Her prize helped understand an old maths problem.
37. What did her teacher guide her to do?
A. Keep quiet in class to avoid more trouble. B. Develop listening skills and courage.
C. Care more about social skills. D. Find a balance between speaking and listening.
38. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. It shows her hard experience brought self-doubt.
B. It compares her study experiences of different colleges.
C. It explains why Wang considered architecture.
D. It tells that olympiads training is helpful for research.
39. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. Great prizes are the best reward for Wang’s talents.
B. Thinking itself can bring joy, not just final answers.
C. Researchers need to get all answers before they start.
D. We should stay away from doubt in scientific research.
40. What would be the best title for the passage?
A. Reaching a Milestone B. Small Steps, Big Dreams
C. Never Stop Exploring D. When Joy Beats Doubt
B 37. B 38. A 39. B 40. D

Emojis work best as an extra help beside words, not to take the place of language.

a. weather signs b. hearts c. animal pictures d. plant icons
A. a&b B. b&c C. a&c D. b&d
32. Why could emojis travel among different phones after 2010?
A. Because phone companies improved their phones greatly.

A. the grammar of a language B. the picture of an emoji symbol
C. the situation around the message D. the vocabulary of words
35. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. How emojis became a shared digital language. B. Why emojis will take the place of real language.
