(25-26高二上·福建厦门·期中)Born on her family’s farm in Ray, North Dakota, Mary Sherman Morgan had been helping her father with farm work before she could attend the small-town schoolhouse. Being a few years behind didn’t hold her back and she graduated from high school with honors. Aware of her intelligence, she ran away from Ray to attend Minot State University as a chemistry major, where her skill was evident.
The outbreak of World War II led to a national shortage of chemists and scientists. In spite of the fact that she was still a student and a woman, she was offered a job as a chemical analyst due to her talents, producing explosives (爆炸物) for the wartime effort. She put her degree on hold and moved to Ohio, taking on the dangerous job of analyzing unstable chemicals to produce weapons.
After the war ended there was a fall in demand for explosives, so she made a move to the field of aeronautics, moving to California to work for NAA (North American Aviation). The only woman out of 900 engineers, she was soon promoted to a role which involved calculating the performance of rocket propellants (推进剂) and designing special fuels to work with different engines. However, never having returned to complete her degree, she was not afforded the rank or higher pay of an engineer, even though she had all the skills and knowledge of one.
Her experience with propellants meant that when NAA was tasked to find a fuel capable of lifting the redesigned Redstone missiles into space, Morgan was appointed technical lead on the project. National pride was on the line, so Morgan set about investigating fuels. After countless trials, she finally designed her own mixture, which was named Hydyne.
Hydyne tested well with the Redstone missiles and subsequently other aircraft (飞行器) , such as Jupiter-C rockets, proving to be a quick solution to getting to space without a total rocket redesign. The fuel made the first successful US satellite launch possible, even if Morgan silently slipped away from her success, retiring to focus on her family and leaving her chemistry career behind.
24.What do we know about Mary?
A.She attended school while helping with farm work.
B.She was offered a job as a chemistry analyst after graduation.
C.She changed her working focus because her country’s demand changed.
D.She launched the first US satellite before retiring from her career.
25.What was Mary doing after the war ended?
A.Analyzing chemicals. B.Producing explosives.
C.Mixing and saving fuels. D.Designing and building aircraft.
26.What made Mary the technical lead on the project of NAA?
A.Her special knowledge in fuels. B.Her rank as an engineer.
C.Her discovery of Hydyne. D.Her sense of national pride
27.Which of the following words can describe Mary Sherman Morgan?
A.Caring and determined. B.Intelligent and skillful.
C.Courageous but sensitive. D.Accomplished but proud.

(25-26高二上·广东江门·期中)Social media is taking over our lives: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and now, TikTok. These social media platforms have transformed from a way to stay connected to an industry where even kids can make money off their posts. While this may seem like another opportunistic (机会主义) innovation, it’s really full of hidden false realities.
The median income (中位收入) recorded in the United States of America was about $63,000 in 2018. TikTokers can make anywhere from $50,000 to $150,000 for a TikTok brand partnership, and TikTokers with over a million followers can make up to $30,000 a month — $360,000 a year. They are making more than the average person trying to feed their family and keep a roof over their heads, simply by posting a 15-second video.
This is mad in more ways than one. Not only is it an overpaid “job”, it promotes undesirable admiration from viewers and a false sense of reality. Many of these famous TikTokers are still teens, and the effects of fame at such an early stage in life might cause issues later in life, such as mental illness. Teens between the ages of 13 and 17 make up 27% of TikTok viewers, who can be easily influenced by what they are watching. They can put a false sense of self-value into who they look up to and what they represent: money, fame, being considered conventionally attractive.
While TikTok has become a great tool for marketing, it’s important to understand how this content affects young viewers. If we’re constantly consuming content that shows us all we need to do to be successful is be conventionally attractive and post a 15-second video featuring a new dance, it will challenge our knowledge of what really makes someone successful and will in turn affect our individual work ethics (伦理). What about the people who miss birthday and family holidays due to their jobs and aren’t getting paid nearly as much as these TikTokers?
Richard Colver, president and creator of Metaphor, Inc, had his own view on this issue. “It sounds great to make money for doing the latest dance moves in a 15-second video, but we should feed the minds of kids and not just their bank accounts. TikTok can be great if used properly. Money alone is not good, technology alone is not good and connectedness can be bad if it’s only online.”
Again, as a fellow consumer of TikTok, I do enjoy the app when I have some time to kill and need a good laugh. I’m not against someone making a living on entertainment, but what does getting famous of a 15-second video teach young people?
28.What does the underlined word “this” in Paragraph 1 refer to?
A.Social networking.
B.Making money on social media.
C.A job offered by TikTok.
D.Staying connected to the Internet.
29.What do the numbers given in Paragraph 2 show?
A.TikTokers are earning money easily.
B.All TikTokers are richer than average people.
C.Most TikTokers can become millionaires overnight.
D.TikTokers earn much more than ordinary workers.
30.What can we infer from Richard Colyer’s comments?
A.TikTok can be a positive influence if teens employ it wisely.
B.Young TikTokers should be banned from making money.
C.It is better to involve education on investment in TikTok videos.
D.Contents of videos need checking before their release online.
31.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Say No to TikTok
B.Join Young TikTokers
C.TikTok — A Mine of Money
D.A Job or an Entertainment

(25-26高二上·广东江门·期中)The debate over whether organic farming can feed the planet is no longer academic. According to the UN, food output must rise 50% by 2050, yet agriculture already emits 24% of global greenhouse gases. How to grow more while polluting less is the question.
Organic farming, which bans most synthetic chemicals, is often portrayed as the green solution. A nine-year study by the Rodale Institute found that advanced organic plots increased soil carbon by 21% and used 45% less energy per tonne of grain than conventional fields. Healthier soil also traps water, cutting irrigation demand by 15% during drought years. “What we are seeing is a more resilient system,” says lead researcher Dr. Jennifer Newton.
The main drawback is yield. Meta-analysis published in Nature shows organic fields produce on average 19% fewer tonnes of wheat or maize per hectare. Closing this gap is now the target of dozens of breeding programmes. New high-yield organic varieties have already narrowed the deficit to 8% in Swiss trials, but seeds cost 30% more.
Waste offers another lever. The FAO estimates that 32% of all food produced is lost or thrown away. If consumer waste in rich countries were cut by just half, the calories saved would equal the entire organic shortfall projected for 2050. “We don’t need to choose between organic and conventional — we need to integrate both and stop wasting,” argues Newton.
Such integration is emerging. In the Netherlands, “hybrid” farms plant organic cover crops to build soil, then apply carefully dosed mineral fertiliser at key growth stages. Early results show yields match fully conventional fields while carbon emissions fall 28%. The model is not perfect, but it suggests the future of farming may be neither purely organic nor purely chemical, but a pragmatic blend — provided consumers are willing to pay 5-7% more at the checkout.
32.What does the author imply is the central goal of organic farming in the passage?
A.To achieve immediate maximum grain output at any cost.
B.To build a resilient agricultural system that enhances ecological balance and soil health.
C.To eliminate all mineral fertilizers worldwide by 2030.
D.To convert forest land into high-yield organic fields.
33.What can be inferred if rich countries halved their consumer food waste, according to the FAO data cited?
A.Organic farming would become obsolete overnight.
B.The calories saved could offset the projected organic yield shortfall for 2050.
C.Global agricultural emissions would drop to zero.
D.Mineral fertilizer prices would fall by 30%.
34.Which hybrid practice is being tested in Dutch farms?
A.Planting organic cover crops plus targeted mineral fertilizer.
B.Using only recycled water for irrigation.
C.Growing genetically modified crops without chemicals.
D.Eliminating all mechanised harvesting.
35.Which best describes the author’s tone toward the future of farming?
A.Hopeful and practical.
B.entirely negative.
C.Overly romantic.
D.Indifferent and neutral.
(25-26高二上·河北邯郸·期中)When a medical emergency happens, the first few minutes are often the most critical. Professional help may take time to arrive, but what happens in those moments can mean the difference between life and death. 36 First aid is the immediate care given to an injured or suddenly ill person before professional medical treatment is available. It is not just for doctors or nurses — it is a life skill that every ordinary person should learn.
Many people believe first aid is too difficult or that they might do something wrong. 37 For example, applying firm pressure to a bleeding wound stops blood loss. Leaning an unconscious person’s head back opens their airway and prevents choking. These actions require no special equipment. They only need basic knowledge and a calm mind. Studies show bystanders giving simple first aid double or triple survival chances.
38 When you know what to do in an emergency, you are less likely to freeze or panic. Instead, you become someone who can take charge and help. This sense of control is not only good for the person in need but also for your own mental well-being. Furthermore, it’s beneficial to the spread of first aid knowledge. When one person in a family or a classroom learns it, others often become interested too.
First aid is especially important in places where accidents are common-homes, schools, and sports fields. In fact, most emergencies happen around us like a child swallowing a small object, a friend fainting during a game, or an elderly relative falling in the kitchen. 39 Without it, even a minor injury can become serious. With it, a crisis can be managed calmly and effectively.
In conclusion, first aid is not just for professionals. It is easy-to-learn knowledge that helps ordinary people act in emergencies. Learning it makes you more responsible and confident. 40
A.This is where first aid comes in.
B.In reality, basic techniques are simple.
C.Next time, you can be the first to help.
D.You need a lot of money to learn first aid.
E.Beyond saving lives, learning first aid also builds confidence.
F.Don’t move someone injured if you know nothing about first aid.
G.These are situations where first aid can make an immediate difference.

With every step, my legs trembled like a newborn calf’s, exhausted from scrambling up the rocks. My mind was filled with self-doubt—I was too overweight, too weak, and a total fool for attempting this struggle. After climbing only one hour, I felt worn out, physically and mentally, and wanted to turn back.
I told the guide staying with me at the back that I couldn’t go any further. His words were simple but struck a chord, “That doesn’t sound like you. Keep going. You can do it.” I don’t know why, but something in his tone made me turn around. With renewed resolve, I placed one foot slowly in front of the other.
By the time I reached the first rest point, most fellow climbers had already left. I hurried to drink and eat, anxious not to fall further behind. Sitting alone on a cold rock in the darkness, a deep wave of disappointment washed over me. Nine months earlier, I had promised to change my life and prove anything was possible. But here, at 2 a.m., after three hours of climbing, I felt I had completely overestimated myself.
This thought sparked a familiar anger, one that had once ruled my life. But now, instead of letting it consume me, I would let it fuel me. This wasn’t just a climb between the mountain and me but also a proof of my rebirth. Suddenly I stood up, looked at the guide and said, “I’ll keep going.” Though doubt flashed in his eyes, my resolution was absolute.
That was when my tears started. I cried not only from exhaustion but from the weight of my promise and the pressure. I hid my face under my hood(兜帽)and snood(围脖)and pushed on. I stumbled and fell countless times, tears freezing on my cheeks. For the next few hours, I climbed over snow-covered rocks, laughing bitterly at the absurd struggle and endlessly repeating to myself: just one more step.注意:

M: But it’s so cheap and we’ll get to see the countryside along the way.
W: Yes, it’s cheap, but it will be full of other passengers trying to save money.
M: Hmm, I guess it would be interesting. We’d get to meet a lot of people and we’d get to see the scenery.
W: Scenery? We’d just be seeing a bunch of city bus stations. We’d have to switch buses in every city. It’ll take forever.
M: Well, alright then. I guess there is just one option left.

W: If you visit America, you should be aware of some of the American customs and habits. All restaurants in America accept cash for payment. And most also accept credit cards. You will seldom find a restaurant that accepts checks. It is common to have to wait for a table in a popular restaurant.
There are many popular restaurants that do not accept reservations or will only accept reservations for large parties. Many restaurants in America have a license to serve alcohol. The drinking age in America is 21. Tipping is another common custom. It is expected that the customer will leave a tip for the server. The common practice is to leave a tip that is equal to 15 percent of the total bill for acceptable service and about 20 percent for superior service. Smoking in America is not always considered to be a good social habit.
Smoking in public is not as common in America as in many other countries. Generally, Americans smoke less than Europeans and much less than Asians. It is a fact that smoking is becoming less and less socially acceptable. Smoking is forbidden in many places. The legal smoking age in America is 18.

根据第二段“The outbreak of World War II led to a national shortage of chemists and scientists.(第二次世界大战的爆发导致了全国化学家和科学家的短缺。)”和第三段“After the war ended there was a fall in demand for explosives, so she made a move to the field of aeronautics(战争结束后,炸药的需求出现下滑,于是她转向了航空领域)”可知,Mary的工作重点从化学家转向了航空领域,是因为国家的需求发生了变化。故选C。
根据第三段“After the war ended there was a fall in demand for explosives, so she made a move to the field of aeronautics, moving to California to work for NAA (North American Aviation). The only woman out of 900 engineers, she was soon promoted to a role which involved calculating the performance of rocket propellants (推进剂) and designing special fuels to work with different engines.(战争结束后,炸药的需求出现下滑,于是她转向了航空领域,移居加利福尼亚为北美航空公司(NAA)效力。作为 900 名工程师中唯一的女性,她很快得到晋升,负责计算火箭推进剂的性能,并为不同发动机设计专用燃料。)”可知,战后Mary在设计和制造飞行器。故选D。

【导语】这是一篇议论文。本文阐述了社交媒体从单纯的社交软件变为赚钱工具的现象,并呼吁青少年用户群体正确使用社交媒体和树立正确的价值观。
【详解】28.词句猜测题。根据第一段中“These social media platforms have transformed from a way to stay connected to an industry where even kids can make money off their posts. While this may seem like another opportunistic (机会主义) innovation, it’s really full of hidden false realities.(这些社交媒体平台从一种保持联系的方式,发展成为了一个能让孩子们通过发布内容赚取收益的产业。虽然这看起来像是又一种机会主义的创新,但实际上却隐藏着诸多虚假的现实)”可知,“this”指代前文提到的“在社交媒体上赚钱”,故选B。
29.推理判断题。根据第二段内容“The median income(中位收入)recorded in the United States of America was about $63,000 in 2018. TikTokers can make anywhere from $50,000 to $150,000 for a TikTok brand partnership, and TikTokers with over a million followers can make up to $30,000 a month-$360,000 a year. They are making more than the average person trying to feed their family and keep a roof over their heads, simply by posting a 15-second video.(2018年,美国的中位收入约为63000美元。
根据文章倒数第二段“It sounds great to make money for doing the latest dance moves in a 15-second video, but we should feed the minds of kids and not just their bank accounts. TikTok can be great if used properly.(在短短15秒的视频中展示最新的舞蹈动作就能赚钱,这听起来很不错,但我们应该关注孩子们的思维发展,而不是仅仅关注他们的钱包。如果使用得当,TikTok可以非常出色)”可知,Richard Colyer认为如果青少年明智地使用TikTok,它可以产生积极的影响。故选A。
根据文章第四段中“What about the people who miss birthday and family holidays due to their jobs and aren’t getting paid nearly as much as these TikTokers?(那么那些因为工作而无法享受生日和家庭假期的人们呢?他们所得的报酬又远不及这些TikTok用户们多)”和最后一段中“I’m not against someone making a living on entertainment, but what does getting famous of a 15-second video teach young people?(我并不反对有人靠娱乐行业谋生,但短短15秒的视频就能让人一夜成名,这会给年轻人带来怎样的影响呢?)”
【答案】32.B 33.B 34.A 35.A
根据第二段中的“Organic farming, which bans most synthetic chemicals, is often portrayed as the green solution. Jennifer Newton.(禁止使用大多数合成化学品的有机农业通常被视为绿色解决方案。罗代尔研究所一项为期九年的研究发现,与传统田地相比,先进的有机地块土壤碳含量增加了21%,每吨谷物的能耗降低了45%。更健康的土壤还能储存水分,在干旱年份将灌溉需求减少15%。首席研究员詹妮弗·牛顿博士说:“我们看到的是一个更具韧性的系统。”)”可推断,有机农业的核心目标是建立一个更具韧性、能改善生态平衡和土壤健康的农业系统。故选B项。
33.推理判断题。根据第四段中的“The FAO estimates that 32% of all food produced is lost or thrown away. If consumer waste in rich countries were cut by just half, the calories saved would equal the entire organic shortfall projected for 2050.(粮农组织估计,所有生产的食物中有32%被损失或丢弃。如果富裕国家的消费者浪费减少一半,节省的热量将相当于2050年预计的全部有机农业产量缺口)”可知,根据粮农组织的数据,如果富裕国家将其消费者食物浪费减半,节省的热量可以抵消2050年预计的有机农业产量缺口。故选B项。
34.细节理解题。根据第五段中的“In the Netherlands, “hybrid” farms plant organic cover crops to build soil, then apply carefully dosed mineral fertiliser at key growth stages.(在荷兰,“混合式”农场种植有机覆盖作物来改良土壤,然后在关键生长阶段施用精确剂量的矿物肥料)”可知,荷兰农场正在测试的混合种植方式是种植有机覆盖作物并配合针对性的矿物肥料。故选A项。
根据第五段中的“Such integration is emerging. The model is not perfect, but it suggests the future of farming may be neither purely organic nor purely chemical, but a pragmatic blend — provided consumers are willing to pay 5-7% more at the checkout.(这种融合正在兴起。这种模式并不完美,但它表明农业的未来可能既不是纯粹的有机农业,也不是纯粹的化学农业,而是一种务实的融合——前提是消费者愿意在结账时多支付5%-7%的费用)”可推断,作者认为农业未来虽不完美,但有可行的融合模式,语气是充满希望且务实的。故选A项。

With it, a crisis can be managed calmly and effectively.(没有急救,轻微伤口也会恶化;掌握急救,就能冷静高效化解危机。)” G选项“These are situations where first aid can make an immediate difference.(在这些状况下,急救可以立刻起到关键作用。)”
40.根据前文“In conclusion, first aid is not just for professionals. It is easy-to-learn knowledge that helps ordinary people act in emergencies. Learning it makes you more responsible and confident.(总之,急救并非专业人员专属技能。它简单易学,能帮助普通人应对突发险情,学习急救会让人更有责任感与自信心。)”可知,此处为文章结尾总结,升华全文主旨,倡导大众学习急救。C选项“Next time, you can be the first to help.(下一次,你也可以成为第一个伸出援手的人。)”

Around 6:00 a.m., I saw some climbers heading back down. I bowed my head to the ground so they didn’t see me crying, and nodded as they patted my shoulder. “You’ve got this.” “Almost there.” Their encouraging words strengthened my resolve. For the final two hours I dragged myself upward, moving forward one step at a time, and I started to notice the world around me—dawn breaking, clouds spreading below my feet. I was walking above the clouds, and then I saw it: the summit sign.
It took nine hours instead of the expected six, but I made it. I stood leaning against the sign, having the customary photo taken. Though exhausted, cold, aching, hungry and thirsty, I had never been happier. accomplishing what I had never thought possible was well worth every minute of pain and doubt. The positive encouragement from others had created a change in me, which allowed my thoughts to transform from negative to positive. Without their support and the change within me, my body would not have reached the summit that morning.

C
【答案】28.B 29.A 30.A 31.D
根据第一段中“These social media platforms have transformed from a way to stay connected to an industry where even kids can make money off their posts.
D
【答案】32.B 33.B 34.A 35.A

A nine-year study by the Rodale Institute found that advanced organic plots increased soil carbon by 21% and used 45% less energy per tonne of grain than conventional fields. Healthier soil also traps water, cutting irrigation demand by 15% during drought years. “What we are seeing is a more resilient system,” says lead researcher Dr. Jennifer Newton.(禁止使用大多数合成化学品的有机农业通常被视为绿色解决方案。
根据第四段中的“The FAO estimates that 32% of all food produced is lost or thrown away.

根据前文“When a medical emergency happens, the first few minutes are often the most critical. Professional help may take time to arrive, but what happens in those moments can mean the difference between life and death.(当医疗紧急情况发生时,最初几分钟往往至关重要。专业救助可能无法立刻赶到,而这段时间的行动决定生死。)”可知,文段提出突发医疗险情时,专业救援存在延迟的现实问题;再结合后文“First aid is the immediate care given to an injured or suddenly ill person before professional medical treatment is available.(急救是在获得专业医疗救治前,为受伤或突发疾病的人提供的即时护理。)” A选项“This is where first aid comes in.(这正是急救发挥作用的地方。)”
37.根据前文“Many people believe first aid is too difficult or that they might do something wrong.(许多人认为急救难度过高,还害怕操作失误造成伤害。)”可知,此处提出大众对急救的普遍误解;再根据后文“For example, applying firm pressure to a bleeding wound stops blood loss. Leaning an unconscious person’s head back opens their airway and prevents choking.(例如,用力按压出血伤口可以止血。将昏迷者头部后仰能打开气道、防止窒息。)”可知,后文列举简单易操作的基础急救实例,以此证明急救并不复杂。B选项“In reality, basic techniques are simple.(事实上,基础的急救技巧十分简单。)”
38.根据后文“When you know what to do in an emergency, you are less likely to freeze or panic. Instead, you become someone who can take charge and help.(当你清楚紧急情况的处理方法时,就不易呆滞慌乱,反而能够主动掌控局面、帮助他人。)” E选项“Beyond saving lives, learning first aid also builds confidence.(除了拯救生命,学习急救还能树立自信心。)”
39.根据前文“In fact, most emergencies happen around us like a child swallowing a small object, a friend fainting during a game, or an elderly relative falling in the kitchen.(事实上,大多数紧急事故都发生在日常生活中,例如孩童误吞小物件、同伴运动晕倒、老人厨房摔倒等。)”可知,前文列举了多种常见生活突发意外;再结合后文“Without it, even a minor injury can become serious.

(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
Around 6:00 a.m., I saw some climbers heading back down.

It took nine hours instead of the expected six, but I made it.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
