Passage A(美式英语和英式英语的一些差异)
American and British people both speak English of course. But sometimes it does not seem like the same language. In fact, there are some important differences between British English and American English.
First of all, they sound very different. Often, Americans don’t say each word, separately. They say several words together. Americans may say “I dunno” instead of “I don’t know”. Or they may say “Whaddaya say?” instead of “What do you say?” However, the British are more careful in their speech. They usually say all the words and keep them separate.
Words sometimes have different meanings too. Some American words are never used in England. The same thing is true of some British words in America. For example, the vocabulary (词汇) for cars and driving is very different. Americans drive trucks, but in England people drive lorries.
Many expressions are also different in the two countries. In England, if you are going to telephone your friends, you “phone them up”. In America, you “give them a call”.
There’re also some differences in grammar. For example, when Americans ask a question, they say “Do you have a storybook?” But the British often say “Have you a storybook?”
All these differences can be confusing (易混淆的) if you are learning English. But most languages are like this. Languages change over time. When people live in separate places, the languages change in different ways. This is what has happened to English. It can also happen to other languages, such as French. Many people in Canada speak French, but their French is very different from the French of France.
1.Languages ________.
A.are always changing as time passes B.keep unchanged even if time changes
C.are the same in all places D.are easy to learn
2.Which of the following is right?
A.American people usually say “I don’t know” instead of “I dunno”.
B.There are four differences between American and British English.
C.Canadians speak all the same French as Frenchmen.
D.When people live in different places, the language is in the same way.
3.This passage is mainly about ________.
A.English vocabulary B.how American sounds are different from British sounds
C.the way the British say words D.some differences between American and British English

【答案】1.A 2.B 3.D
【导语】本文主要讲述了美式英语和英式英语的一些差异。
【详解】
1.细节理解题。根据“Languages change over time.”可知,语言总是随着时间的推移而变化。故选A。
2.推理判断题。根据“First of all, they sound very different.”,“Words sometimes have different meanings too.”,“Many expressions are also different in the two countries.”和“There’re also some differences in grammar.”可知,美式英语和英式英语有四个不同之处。故选B。
3.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据“In fact, there are some important differences between British English and American English.”以及结合全文可知,本文主要讲述了美式英语和英式英语的一些差异。故选D。
参考译文
美国人与英国人当然都说英语。但有时候,这两种英语看起来并不像是同一种语言。事实上,英式英语和美式英语之间存在一些重要差异。
首先,二者的发音差别很大。美国人通常不会把每个单词都单独读出来,而是把几个单词连读在一起。美国人可能会说 “I dunno” 来代替 “I don’t know(我不知道)”;或者用 “Whaddaya say?” 代替 “What do you say?(你怎么看?)”。然而英国人说话会更加严谨,他们通常读出所有单词,单词之间界限分明。
单词的含义有时也存在区别。一些美式英语词汇在英国从不使用,部分英式英语词汇在美国也是如此。例如,和汽车、驾驶相关的词汇差异就很大。美国人开 trucks(卡车),但在英国人们开 lorries(卡车)。
两个国家还有很多表达方式不一样。在英国,如果你要给朋友打电话,会说 “phone them up”;在美国,则说 “give them a call”。
语法方面同样存在一些不同。比如,美国人提问会说 “Do you have a storybook?”,而英国人常会说 “Have you a storybook?”。
如果你正在学习英语,所有这些差异可能会让你感到困惑。但大多数语言都是这样的。语言会随着时间发生变化。当人们居住在相互隔绝的地区,语言就会朝着不同方向演变。英语就是这样演变的,其他语言也会出现这种情况,例如法语。很多加拿大人讲法语,但他们的法语和法国本土的法语差别很大。
Passage B(文章主要介绍了学校里的不同俱乐部)
Saturday, June 6
Sometimes I wonder if the English I’ve learned at school is of any use in real life in English-speaking countries. I finally sent an email to my friend Eric about my doubt.
To my surprise, he replied with a few words and lots of photos—street signs, shop boards, and public notices—all from his city. “See if you can understand…” he wrote in his email. So this whole afternoon, I sat at the desk and went through these photos.
The first sign reads “Thanks for standing in line while others exit. Keep it up!” From the words and the arrows (箭头), I could easily guess what “exit” means. It must mean “get out”. While others are getting out, we should wait in line. “Keep it up!” might mean “Keep doing it!”. It’s good manners.
The second sign says “Dispose of or take your garbage with you. Leaving trash is a NO-GO!” It seemed difficult for me. “Garbage” and “trash” could mean something useless. But how about “Dispose of”? I looked it up in a dictionary. It says “to throw (something) away”. It’s our duty to put rubbish in a bin or take it away. So “Leaving trash is a NO-GO!” was not a problem for me. Everything made sense. Cool!
“Neighborhood”, “watch” and “community” were not new to me, but I still failed to understand the last sign. Then I phoned my English teacher. She told me everyone in such a place worked together to keep the area safe.
By guessing, using an English-English dictionary and asking for help, I got the meanings of all the photos. I can’t wait to try more.
1.What is the email to Eric mainly about?
A.School life. B.Foreign culture. C.True friendship. D.English learning.
2.Which of the following can take the place of “Leaving trash is a NO-GO!” in the text?
A.You can’t go away! B.You shouldn’t take a bin!
C.You can’t litter here! D.You shouldn’t leave soon!
3.How did the writer get the meaning of the last sign?
A.By calling a teacher. B.By making a guess.
C.By sending an email. D.By using a dictionary.
4.What is the writer most likely to do next?
A.Draw signs for the city. B.Ask Eric for more photos.
C.Make boards for shops. D.Thank neighbors for their help.

句 1
原句:Sometimes I wonder if the English I’ve learned at school is of any use in real life in English-speaking countries.
翻译:有时候我会想,我在学校学到的英语在英语国家的现实生活中是否有用。
**句子分析**
主句:`Sometimes I wonder`;`if`引导宾语从句,意为 “是否”。
宾语从句主干:`the English is of any use`;`I’ve learned at school`是省略关系代词 that 的定语从句,修饰先行词 the English;`in real life`、`in English-speaking countries`为地点状语。
固定结构:**be of any use = be useful** 有用的。
句 2
原句:By guessing, using an English-English dictionary and asking for help, I got the meanings of all the photos.
翻译:通过猜测、查阅英英词典以及寻求帮助,我弄懂了所有照片(里标识)的含义。
**句子分析**
`By + 三个并列动名词短语(guessing, using..., asking...)` 在句中作方式状语,表示 “通过某种方式”;
主句:`I got the meanings of all the photos`;`of all the photos`介词短语作后置定语修饰 meanings。

2.第三段提到“‘Garbage’ and ‘trash’ could mean something useless...It’s our duty to put rubbish in a bin or take it away”,可知“Leaving trash is a NO-GO!”意为“不能在这里扔垃圾”,与“You can’t litter here!”同义。
3.第四段提到“Then I phoned my English teacher. She told me everyone in such a place worked together to keep the area safe”,说明作者通过打电话请教老师理解了最后一个标识。
4.最后一段提到“I can’t wait to try more”,结合前文Eric发来标识照片帮助作者学习,可推测作者接下来会向Eric要更多照片。
“Keep it up!” 大概意思就是 “继续这样做!”,这是良好的礼仪。
第二块告示写着:“自行处理或带走你的垃圾。禁止乱扔废弃物!” 这段对我来说起初很难。garbage 和 trash 应该指没用的东西。那 Dispose of 是什么意思?我查了词典,释义是 “扔掉(某物)”。把垃圾扔进垃圾桶或者随身带走是我们的责任。所以 “Leaving trash is a NO-GO!” 我也理解了,一切都通顺了,太棒啦!
neighborhood、watch 和 community 这几个词对我并不陌生,但我还是看不懂最后一张标识。随后我打电话请教了我的英语老师。她告诉我,在这样的地方,所有人共同协作,保障这片区域的安全。
借助猜测、查阅英英词典以及寻求他人帮助,我弄懂了所有照片里标识的含义。我已经迫不及待想要尝试更多(这类阅读)了。
Passage1
(2025·四川省攀枝花市中考)
Many people are trying to learn a new language. Some consider it a hobby. Others have to learn a language because of their jobs or studies. As a foreigner who is really interested in Chinese culture, I like learning Chinese.
It is thought that a person needs to know at least 3,000 Chinese characters (汉字) to understand most Chinese newspapers. The problem for most foreigners, however, is that knowing 3,000 characters sounds like an impossible task, because many of the Chinese characters look the same. That’s why some people give up halfway. It’s the most arduous part for me, too. But I managed to learn how to write each character by watching videos online. Whenever I saw a character I didn’t know in the street or on a menu, I would just write it down on my phone and then look it up. Slowly, I’ve learned the common characters in daily life.
It’s also important to listen to Chinese as much as possible. I downloaded (下载) a lot of listening materials onto my phone and listened to them on the way to school and work. I also watched a lot of Chinese TV shows and films, where the words are not so difficult, and there are always subtitles (字幕). It’s really helpful for my listening.
As for speaking, I practice talking about different topics in Chinese when I am walking around, talking to myself or in my head, thinking through different conversations and situations. For example, whenever I was going to a shop, I would think about how to say that in Chinese. It helps me to think in a Chinese way, which is really important.
Learning a language is never easy. As for me, I just use every tool on hand and take my learning step by step, and I’m still learning new things to this day!

Passage2
(2025·山东省聊城市中考英语真题)
Experts (专家) at the University of Edinburgh studied the relationship between music and remembering a foreign language. They found that remembering words in singing was the best way to remember even one of the most difficult languages.
The experts got the result by doing an experiment. They invited 60 people and divided them into three groups of 20. Then they asked the three groups of people to study words from the Hungarian (匈牙利的) language. Why Hungarian, you ask? The experts said they chose Hungarian because not many people knew the language.
All three groups studied the Hungarian language for 15 minutes. The scientists asked them to learn in three different ways. They asked the first group to simply speak the words. They let the second group speak the words to a rhythm (节奏). And they asked the third group to sing the words. Then the three groups of people joined in a few language tests to see what they remembered. The group of people who learned the Hungarian words by singing them did better than the others. They did the best in four out of five of the tests. They also did two times better than those who simply learned the words by speaking them.
Dr Katie Overy was one of the experts who did the experiment. She thought the findings could help those who try to learn foreign languages. “The brain seems to like music, especially for remembering,” she said.
So, the next time you study for a language test, try to sing out what you need to remember.

Passage 3
How can you remember a song for a long time? Why does your teacher use songs to teach you English? There is a scientific reason for this.
Researchers are studying the relationship between music and remembering a foreign language. “Singing could be a new way of learning, especially for a foreign language . The brain likes to remember things in a catchy (悦耳易记的) and relaxing way. For example, children can remember difficult words quickly when they are in a song,” said Dr Karen Ludke. If children find it difficult to learn foreign languages, this new way may help. On her blog (博客), Dr Ludke wrote, “A listen-and-repeat singing way can help to learn foreign languages and open the door for future research in this area. ”
Many language teachers know the importance of music and they often use it in teaching and learning. Hua Zhuying, a teacher at a Chinese language school in Washington D.C. , likes using songs in teaching Chinese. She said , “I use music all the time to teach children Chinese. For little kids, we usually use English songs but teach them the Chinese lyrics. Not only does it work, but it is fun for children. Sometimes I think if I learned English that way when I was young, maybe I could speak English much better. ”

长难句解析
**句子分析**
`By + 三个并列动名词短语(guessing, using..., asking...)` 在句中作方式状语,表示 “通过某种方式”;
主句:`I got the meanings of all the photos`;`of all the photos`介词短语作后置定语修饰 meanings。
