Role of AI systems in film industry
Kendall (8 hours ago.)
Last debate class, our teacher guided us to think about whether AI can be used in film industry. After exploring advantages and disadvantages, I am here to share my ideas about how AI systems (系统) can work in the film industry.
Great uses: Here are some possible ways AI systems can be used:
1.
Play writing: Because of powerful language processing (处理) abilities, AI systems can create plays or help screenwriters make attractive plots.
2.
Character development: Using big data, AI systems can help filmmakers understand what kind of characters are popular among audience and give advice on how to develop characters.
3.
Understanding audience and the present fashion: By examining social media trends and people’s reviews, it’s possible for AI systems to help filmmakers better understand their audience and their likes for the film styles.
Possible disadvantages: Here are a few disadvantages to consider:
1.
Poor creativity: If human filmmakers depend too heavily on AI systems, this will lead to poor creativity in the film industry.
2.
Deepfakes: The use of deepfakes will be a big trouble for people. These are AI-made videos that can make it look like someone said or did things they never actually said or did. For example, deepfakes can create a fake video of a famous actor saying something rude, or a singer performing a song they never sang. What if fake videos like these are everywhere online?
3.
High cost: Using AI systems in the film industry can be expensive. This may limit independent filmmakers or some studios.

Have you ever looked at your shoes and wondered how they stay closed without laces? Or maybe you have a backpack that uses a strange, sticky material to seal shut. This clever invention is called Velcro (魔术贴), and its story begins with a walk in the woods.
In 1941, a Swiss engineer named George de Mestral went for a walk with his dog in the mountains. When they returned home, he noticed many burrs (植物上的芒刺) stuck to his clothes and his dog’s fur.
Curious, George decided to look at a burr under a microscope (显微镜). He saw something amazing. The burr was covered with tiny hooks (钩子). These hooks easily caught onto anything loop-shaped (圈圈形状的,环形的), like the threads (针织的线) in his clothes or the fur on his dog. “This is brilliant!” George thought. “What if I could create a material that works just like this?”
He imagined two strips (条状物,带子): one with thousands of tiny hooks, and another with soft loops. When pressed together, the hooks would catch the loops, holding the strips together firmly. To separate them, you just pull them apart.
It wasn’t easy to make this idea real. Many people laughed at him. But George didn’t give up. He worked for years to find the right materials. Finally, after many experiments, he succeeded. He named his Invention “Velcro”.
At first, Velcro was mainly used by astronauts and skiers because it was so strong and easy to use. But soon, everyone discovered how useful it was.
Nowadays, Velcro is everywhere! It’s on your shoes, jackets, lunch boxes, and even inside some cars and airplanes. It’s especially helpful for children learning to tie shoes, or for people who find small buttons difficult. The next time you open your backpack or fasten your shoes, remember the clever engineer and his dog. Their walk in the woods led to an invention that makes all our lives a little easier!
1.Who invented Velcro?
____________________________________________________________________________________________2.The tiny hooks on the burrs easily caught onto anything loop-shaped, didn’t they?
____________________________________________________________________________________________3.What would happen to the hooks and the loops when pressed together?
____________________________________________________________________________________________4.Who mainly used Velcro at first after Velcro was invented?
____________________________________________________________________________________________5.What do you think of George de Mestral? Why?
____________________________________________________________________________________________

根据“learn…Chinese history, geography and culture”可知,此处指了解中国历史、地理和文化,learn about表示“了解”,固定短语,from与of不符合题意。

固定句式it is+形容词+for sb to do sth“对某人来说做某事是……”,动词不定式作主语,wearing为动名词或现在分词,wear为动词原形,均不符合题意,所以填to wear。
根据“All members in the club are…in Chinese culture.”
根据“If you want to join…you can come to Room 305 on Thursday afternoon or you can call Mr. Wang at 633339.”
根据“wants more people to love Hanfu”可知,此处指总是希望更多的人喜欢汉服,always“总是”,never表示“从不”,sometimes表示“有时”,不符合语境。所以填always。
