【答案】“You don’t look happy, Marc. What’s wrong?” she said. Explaining what had happened, especially the bet between him and Huck, he told Lily his decision. He wanted to make careful preparations for the exam, but ran into difficulties with math. He was at a loss what to do next. “Don’t worry! I’ll help you. Just be confident!” replied Lily. The following days, Marc worked very hard and made great progress. Gradually, his confidence grew and he could solve math problems with ease, with the instructions appearing in his brain as if the teacher was standing at his side .
On the day of the exam, Marc went to school with great confidence. He met Huck in the classroom, who looked delighted as if he was bound to win. But Marc didn’t care. When the exam began, Marc answered all the questions as best as he could. Several days later, the result came out. It turned out that Marc did much better than Huck. “Well done,” said Mom. “We could go to see a movie to celebrate, and you can choose one.” “I think Lily should choose,” said Marc. “I would never have gained such a great achievement without her help and encouragement .”

【答案】Finally, the two getting ready, the Dance began. The gymnasium, decorated with lights and decorations, was alive with excitement. As Kelsey and Derek entered, a hush fell over the crowd. The music started, and they took to the floor. Derek, guided by Kelsey’s gentle cues, moved with a confidence that surprised many. Their dance was a graceful blend of elegance and joy, far from the clumsy steps everyone had anticipated. With each spin and step, they drew cheers and applause from their classmates. By the end of their dance, they had not only captivated the audience but also broken the doubts and prejudices that had clouded the air before.
After the Dance, students gathered around Kelsey and Derek. Their faces showed admiration and respect. What began as quiet whispers of surprise soon erupted into cheers of praise. Billy, who had earlier teased them, approached with an awkward smile, sincerely extending an apology to both. Even Betty, Kelsey’s best friend, was there, tears glistening in her eyes as she hugged Kelsey tightly, expressing her regret for doubting her choice. The night ended not just with a successful dance, but with transformed attitudes and newfound respect among peers. It was a night that Derek, Kelsey, and all their classmates would remember as a beautiful testament to acceptance and the power of kindness.

【答案】With determination, I went to the store and asked if they needed a salesgirl. The manager, a kind middle-aged lady, looked at me doubtfully but then smiled warmly. “Well, we usually don’t hire such young girls, but I can see your enthusiasm. Let’s give it a try,” she said. I was overjoyed and promised to do my best. The days passed quickly, and I worked hard, learning about the products and helping customers. Every penny I earned was carefully saved for that stunning red dress. Finally, after weeks of hard work, I had enough money.
On the morning of Mother’s Day, Mum received a large box. She opened it with curiosity, and her eyes widened in surprise as she pulled out the beautiful red dress. “Oh my goodness, where did you get this?” she exclaimed. I stood there, smiling, and said, “I earned it for you, Mum. I wanted you to have something special for Mother’s Day.” She hugged me tightly, tears streaming down her face. “This is the best gift I’ve ever received,” she whispered. That day, Mum wore the red dress with pride, and we all felt the warmth and love that a simple dress could bring. It was a Mother’s Day we would never forget.

But Joey hung back and inched toward me when the bell rang. He looked up at me, cheeks flushed with shyness. “Ms. Smith,” he murmured, “I... I didn’t have much, but I wanted to give you something too.” He held out the envelope, his fingers trembling slightly. I knelt down to his level, gently taking it from him. When I opened it, the smooth dollar bill and a tiny drawing of a smiling teacher and student fell out. I pulled him into a soft hug. “Joey, this is the sweetest gift I’ve ever received. Thank you so much. Now, let’s go for lunch together.”
“You mean I can have a teacher’s lunch?” Wide-eyed, he grinned. It was a bright, toothy smile that lit up his whole face. I nodded, smiling back at him. “Of course, Joey. I’d love to have lunch with you today.” We walked to the teacher’s canteen together, and I fixed him a plate of sandwiches, fruit, and a cookie — far more than he probably got at home. By the end of lunch, his laughter filled the room, and I knew this Christmas vacation would start with a memory I’d never forget. It wasn’t the expensive gifts that mattered, but the pure, kind heart of a little boy who’d given what he could.

【答案】After getting home, I was afraid to face my parents but I had to. After looking through the test result, I had thought that they would scold me heavily. However, I was completely wrong. They asked me about the reason for which I failed the test. I didn’t dare to tell a lie, and told them it was the phone they had bought for me that led to my poor scores. When figuring out the cause, they said, “We truly believe in you. We hope you can learn from this failure, change your old ways, and really strive to be a better student. Success will be yours.”
After what happened, I decided to change everything I used to do. Firstly, I handed in my phone to my parents and came home early right after school every day. Once I finished my homework, I’d help my parents with some housework. I hardly used my phone any more. Then in class, I’d listen carefully as before. Gradually, my school performance improved and I got good grades again.

【答案】Mel stayed by my side while I tried not to cry from the pain. She gently cleaned the cuts on my face with a towel she had brought and kept telling me that help was on the way. I kept thinking about how stupid I had been to rush the ice step, which made me feel even more desperate. Every time I tried to move my left leg, a sharp pain shot through my body, and I realized that I might have broken a bone. Mel held my hand tightly, saying that the rescuers would arrive soon because she had given them our exact location when she called.
But I was back on the trails within six months. After weeks of physical therapy, my leg recovered, and I learned a valuable lesson that safety should always come first when climbing. I also found that the experience made me more careful, as I now check every step carefully before moving forward. With Mel’s encouragement, we climbed a small mountain near my home, which was the first time I had felt the joy of climbing again since the accident. I knew that as long as I prepared well and respected nature, I could continue to chase my passion for mountains.

Seeing what had happened, father pulled his hand in his pocket. He searched for a short moment, then took out a neatly folded $50 bill. He stepped gently forward, pretending to just notice the bill fall, and said calmly, “Excuse me, sir, I think this slipped from your pocket.“ The man stared at the money first, then at my father, his eyes gradually widening as he realized what was happening, and his hands started to tremble a little.
The man thanked us with tears in his eyes. “This means the whole world to my kids because they’ve been looking forward to this circus for weeks,” he said, quickly wiping a tear from his cheek. My father patted his shoulder gently and smiled, ”Just make sure they have the best time tonight.“ As we left, I clearly heard the children’s excited screams when the tickets were handed to them, which warmed my heart a lot.

Additionally, she was afraid of messing it up. However, after our constant encouragement and persuasion, she finally made up her mind to give it a shot as part of our group. Surprisingly, her soft and melodious voice made her performance a great success. All the audience burst into deafening applause and cheers which lasted for several minutes at the end of her performance.
Paragraph 2:

Para 1: The competition day arrived, and my heart beat fast as I stood at the starting line. More than thirty runners surrounded me, stretching and focused. The starting gun rang, and I dashed forward. At first, I easily kept up with the front group, but soon my legs felt heavy and my breath quickened. Remembering Mr. Zeng’s advice, I gritted my teeth, swung my arms harder, and pushed on. The crowd’s cheers grew louder as I neared the finish, and I crossed the line with all my might.
Para 2: After the race, I found Mr. Zeng waiting for me with a smile. He handed me water and patted my back, his eyes beaming with pride. As I caught my breath, the announcer declared the first-place winner. When I heard my name, I was stunned. Mr. Zeng applauded, and I grinned from ear to ear. That evening, I showed my parents the trophy. They were surprised, then proud. I realized running wasn’t just a hobby; it taught me to confront my fears and keep going.

【答案】It was a note from one of his friends, offering him the answers. Anthony recognized the handwriting instantly — it was from his best friend, Mike. His heart pounded as he stared at the neatly written solutions. A part of him longed to copy them and avoid embarrassment, but memories of his teacher emphasizing honesty flashed through his mind. He glanced at Mike, who gave him an encouraging nod. However, Anthony recalled how his parents always told him that true success came from hard work, not shortcuts. The conflict within him grew fiercer.
With a deep breath, Anthony picked up the note and slowly tore it into pieces. He raised his hand and quietly informed the teacher about the incident. Though his voice trembled, he felt a wave of relief. To his surprise, the teacher praised his integrity and allowed him extra time to complete the test. Anthony answered the remaining questions calmly, doing his best. When the results came out, he scored lower than usual but earned everyone’s respect. That day, he learned that courage and honesty were far more valuable than perfect grades.

Paragraph 1:
The next morning, I took out my piggy bank with a mixed feeling inside. On one hand, I really wanted to help those poor children. On the other hand, I was reluctant to break my piggy bank which I had saved for so long. But thinking of the children’s sad faces, I decided to do it. I found a hammer and with a deep breath, I broke the piggy bank open. Coins fell out. I counted them carefully.
Paragraph 2:
With a determined mind, I carried all the money to the living room where my grandfather was reading a newspaper. “Grandpa,” I said, “I want to donate this money to the earthquake-hit area. Those children need help.” My grandfather looked at me with surprise at first, then a smile spread on his face. “Good boy,” he said. “Your kindness is more precious than that bike. We can save again for the bike, but those children need this help now.” Then we went to the post office together to send the money.

The next morning, I took out the heavy piggy bank and gave it a gentle shake. The coins inside made a loud sound. Thinking of Chen Hao’s cold hands and his sad face, I took a deep breath, picked up a small hammer, and tapped the piggy bank. It only cracked a little first, then I tapped again, and it broke open. Coins fell all over the table. I counted them carefully, put them into a clean envelope, and held it tightly. I knew this money would help Chen Hao more than a trip right now.
Hearing the noise, Mom gently pushed the door open and stepped in. She saw the broken piggy bank and the coins on the table. Then she looked at me, and her eyes were soft. I said, “Mom, I want to help Chen Hao. I’m sorry I’ve broken my promise.” Mom hugged me and smiled. “You didn’t do anything wrong,” she said. “We can save money for the Great Wall again. But helping someone in need is more important. I’m so proud of you.” Her words made me feel proud and grateful. I realized that the true value of money lies not in what it can buy for oneself, but in what it can do for others.

Without a second thought, we all started to act. Father quickly lit a fire with the firewood and coal, and the cold room soon felt warmer. Mother gently wrapped the newborn in warm clothes, while the sick mother’s eyes filled with tears of gratitude. I handed the porridge to the children — they grabbed the bowls eagerly, their faces lighting up with joy. Beth helped pass out the bread, and May placed her “lassy pot” in the little girl’s hands, making her giggle. When I watched them eat happily, my earlier hunger vanished completely. All done, it was time to leave. We wished them a happy New Year, said goodbye to them and set out to return home.
As we walked back home, I couldn’t help thinking what had just happened. I recalled the little girl’s hands, cold as ice, wrapping around the warm porridge bowl, and her eyes lighting up like stars — my heart softened. “Their smiles felt like sunshine,” I said softly. Mother tapped my head, smiling, “That’s the warmth that giving brings.” “Can we come back to help them tomorrow?” I asked. All of them nodded in agreement. The New Year sun cast golden light on our path, and the cold wind seemed to hum a gentle tune, making this morning feel extra warm and meaningful.

Lily’s hands trembled as she held the letter. Her heart was filled with a mix of curiosity and guilt for prying. She hesitated for a moment, wondering if she should continue reading. But the desire to discover the secret was too strong. The letter mentioned a deep friendship between her grandmother and a boy named Thomas, who had eventually lived abroad. They promised to write to each other. However, life still pulled them apart. Lily sat on the floor, completely absorbed in piecing together the beautiful yet sad memory from the past.
Just then, her mother walked into the room. Seeing the open box and the letters in Lily’s hands, she looked surprised at first. Anxiously, Lily looked up, afraid she had done something wrong. But gathering her courage, she asked about the story behind the letters. To her relief, her mother smiled softly and sat down beside her. She explained that Thomas had been her grandmother’s pen pal and a very important friend. This discovery created a special bond between Lily and her grandma’s past. She realized that everyone has its own hidden stories, waiting to be understood and cherished.

Lily’s hands trembled as she held the letter. She carefully unfolded the next one, her eyes scanning the faded ink. Thomas, she learned, was a young poet her grandmother had met during the war; they had shared a few precious meetings under that oak tree before he was sent overseas. The letters spoke of promises made—to write, to wait, to meet again when the world was at peace. But the final letter in the stack was different. It was returned to her grandmother, marked "Undeliverable." With a sinking heart, Lily realized that Thomas had vanished, his fate unknown, and her grandmother had kept this cherished memory and unanswered hope locked away for decades. The depth of her grandmother's silent love and loss weighed heavily on her.
Just then, her mother walked into the room. Seeing the open box and the scattered letters in Lily’s lap, she let out a soft sigh, her eyes filled with a knowing sadness. She sat beside Lily and gently explained that her grandmother had rarely spoken of Thomas, but the family knew he was reported missing in action and never returned. "She moved on, married your grandfather, and was happy," her mother said, stroking the photo. "But she kept this box, not out of sorrow, but to honor a beautiful part of her life that helped shape her." She suggested they press a fresh oak leaf between the pages of the letters and keep the box as a cherished family heirloom, a quiet tribute to a love that was lost but never forgotten.

【答案】Later on Daniel brought his son to the garden and said to him, “Look at the two flowers and tell me your observation.” Eric gazed at the blooms, noticing a stark difference. His father’s flower, watered with clean lake water, stood tall and vibrant, its petals gleaming with health. In contrast, his own flower, nourished by the murky pond water, appeared weak and withered, its colors dull. “Dad, why is my flower so much worse?” Eric asked, his voice tinged with disappointment.
Daniel smiled and replied to his son gently. “Son, just as these flowers need clean water to thrive, people need positive environments and kind words to grow strong. Your classmates’ words are like the dirty water, trying to dull your spirit. But remember, it’s not their words that define you; it’s your own actions and beliefs. You have a gift for seeing beauty in nature, a gift I’ve seen in few others. Hold onto that, and let it shine brighter than any material wealth. Be proud of who you are and what you come from. A gardener’s son has a heart full of life and love, and that’s something no one can ever take away from you.” Eric nodded, feeling a newfound sense of pride and determination welling up inside him.

【答案】An experienced runner from another school caught up with me. “You’ve got this!” he shouted over the wind. “Don’t stop now — we’re almost there!” When I glanced at him, I saw his eyes were clear and determined. He didn’t know me, yet he chose to stay with me at this difficult moment. Suddenly, something inside me changed. It was his courage that lit a small fire in my heart. I took a deep breath, clenched my fists, and decided to keep going.
Hearing his inspiring words, I wiped the tears from my eyes. I straightened my back and pushed forward, ignoring the burning in my legs. The crowd’s cheers, which had seemed to laugh at me earlier, now sounded like encouraging music. Crossing the finish line, I collapsed but smiled. I didn’t know my final ranking, but I knew I had overcome my weakest self. I also learned that when you feel like giving up, a small act of kindness can help you find the courage to keep going.

It was exam time at Marc’s school. Every day, their teachers gave them loads of homework and told them the test was very important and that they ought to spare no effort to perform well in it. Everyone followed the teachers’ instructions and made preparations for it, except Marc. He just turned a deaf ear to it. He thought he would rather play football than study.
His mum and dad repeated the importance of revision for exams over and over again. They told him that he should be working hard preparing for the test. But the weather was sunny and he thought he had better things to do.
“Shall we go to the park?” he said to his friend Huck one afternoon. “It’s a nice day. We could play football and kick around.” Huck shook his head. “I’m supposed to review my lessons,” he said. “I’m going home to do some math.”
Marc was amazed. “You’d rather do math than play football?”
“Math is important. Besides, my mum says she will buy me a mountain bike if I do well in the math exam.”
“That’s crazy,” said Marc. Huck shrugged (耸肩) and replied, “Wait until I beat you in the test and you will watch me riding past on my mountain bike!”
“You won’t beat me,” said Marc.
“Oh yes, I will.”
“Oh no, you won’t! That will never happen. Just wait and see!”
For the first time ever, Marc wanted to perform well. He couldn’t bear it if his friend came top and he did badly. So when he got home, he opened his math book. But there was so much to do. All of a sudden, he felt like he’d forgotten everything he had learned that year! He didn’t know where to start. When his sister Lily came in, he was sitting expressionlessly by the desk, just staring out of the window.

Word spread that Derek Rodgers, who had Down’s Syndrome (唐氏综合征), wanted to attend the Homecoming Dance (返校日舞会).
I, a new journalist for the Campus News, was curious who would be his dance partner and decided to cover his story. When I accompanied him on the way home one day, we were approached by Kelsey Stuart, a popular student.
“Derek, I’d like to ask you to the Dance,” she smiled.
Derek was shocked. He couldn’t believe that one of the prettiest girls in school was asking him.
Derek’s face went red. “Why me?” he asked, “And shouldn’t boys be the ones to do the asking?”
“I doubt you would, after all the rough experiences you’ve had. And we actually have more in common than you think. We both really want to go to the Dance. And we are not like those who are only concerned about personal appearance.”
“But what do you see in me? How can I be the sort of guy you want to go with?”
“I know you are a gentleman and you’ll treat me like a lady and I’ll feel safe with you,” she said, leaving with a smile.
The entire school went crazy when they learned that Kelsey was Derek’s dance partner.
At first there were words that were not so nice about them. Their classmate, Billy, made fun of them by giving them stupid names. Betty, Kelsey’s best friend, stopped hanging out with her because she couldn’t understand her choice at all.
Despite the words around, every day after school, the two still stayed behind to practice their dance routine. Kelsey patiently taught Derek how to lead the steps, move to the beat of the music and spin (旋转) with elegance. Slowly but surely, they improved their dancing together.
The day of the Dance arrived. Kelsey got into a new dress and Derek put on a well-cut suit.

The first time we set eyes on “Big Red”, Dad, Mum and I were on our way home. As we passed the Eaton’s department store’s window, we stopped as usual to have a look and bought something that we wanted. The beautifully decorated window display held the best toys ever. Pretty toys all lay beneath a surprisingly fantastic dress. Mum’s eyes were glued to its shining red satin (缎子). “My goodness,” she whispered. “Look at that!” Then, Mum looked down at her own. Mum was forever doing chores, washing laundry and working in the garden. So she always wore house dresses and an apron (围裙) to protect the front.
“What a silly dress!” She shook her head. “Who would want such a big dress?” As we continued down the street, Mum turned her head for one more look. “My goodness! They should display something a person could use!”
Mother’s Day was nearing, and the red dress was soon forgotten. Mum was not the one to spend money on items that were not practical. Choosing a gift for Mother’s Day for her was quite hard. When Dad and I asked, she thought carefully, and then asked for some tea towels, facecloths or a new basin.
On our last trip to town before Mother’s Day, we were driving up Main Street when mother suddenly shouted in surprise: “Look!” She pointed as Dad drove past Eaton’s. “That big red dress is gone,” she said in disbelief. “Who’d be fool enough to buy such a dress?” Mum questioned, shaking her head. I was almost certain that I noticed a trace of eagerness in her voice.
“Why not earn the money myself for this stunning red dress?” I thought to myself. However, I was stuck — which shop would hire an 8th-grade student who had no working experience at all? Feeling confused, I approached Dad for his opinion. Dad told me that “Believe in yourself, my sweetie, maybe you could give Eaton’s department store a try.”

It was the last day before Christmas vacation and the last day of my student teaching assignment. I would have less than an hour before my class rushed off for lunch. The afternoon was set aside for the Christmas party.
I opened the door and twenty-nine children shouted “Surprise!”
There were new decorations added to the holiday ones from the day before. Over the chalkboard was a banner (横幅) with “Congratulations!” printed across it. Every child had signed and decorated it. I was swept up in lots of arms and led to a table piled with gifts. Before long I could barely see over the holiday towels, candles, perfume, candy and jewelry.
Surprised by the outpouring of love, I took time opening each gift and thanked each giver. By the time I’d opened the last gift on the table it was almost lunchtime. The room was a little quieter now and I realized that I’d received a gift from all but one of the children. It was so much more than I could ever have expected.
I looked around the room. Most of the children were grouped in twos and threes, talking and working on holiday puzzles as they waited for the bell. Joey sat alone, but that wasn’t unusual. He was only in the room for morning attendance and lunch, spending the rest of the day in a Special Education class.
I hardly knew him, but his ill-fitting clothes and bony frame marked him as one of the poorest of the poor. He bent over a piece of paper, his pencil flashing across it. His hand reached into his pocket and pulled out a crumpled (皱的) dollar. He smoothed the bill, laid it on the paper and folded the paper into an envelope around it. He ran to the supply basket, dashed back and sealed (封) the paper envelope with a gold star. The students stood at the door, ready for lunch.

【答案】例文

In our childhood, there were always unforgettable things happening in our life. However, some were harmful while some were beneficial. If we could learn from the experience and lessons, it would lead to future success.
My 12th birthday came at last. What a wonderful feeling it was to know that I turned twelve and that I might possibly get the thing I wanted most.
I saw my mom and dad coming towards me with a small box wrapped up (包装) with nice pink paper with flowers on it. When I removed the paper and opened the box, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I had got a cell phone I ran to give my mom and dad the biggest hug ever, and said,
“You’ re welcome. We knew this was going to make you happy. But we give you this not only because you have turned twelve but also because you are doing well in school. We expect you to keep getting good grades.”
I said confidently that I would. As soon as I got to school the next morning, I was showing off my phone and asking everyone for their number. It was cool how I got so many contacts (联系人) on the first day. It felt like I didn’t even exist in that class any more. I didn’t pay much attention to the teachers because I was too busy on my phone. I texted my friends, surfed the Internet for stories or played games.
Luckily, I didn’t get caught using it. I had formed a habit of secretly enjoying my phone in class. But I was pretty sure that the teachers did notice that I stopped paying attention to them, because a week later we took a test and I failed. What’s worse, my parents had to sign the test.

Paragraph 2: After what happened, I decided to change everything I used to do.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

When I was 13, I climbed my first mountain — a fairly gentle 3,900-foot peak near where I live in Surrey. British Columbia. I was overweight at the time and out of breath when I reached the top. But I loved the challenge of fighting something bigger than myself. Soon I’d climbed nearly 100 mountains. I became slim and strong and my parents were happy I’d finally found a hobby.
I often go climbing with my friend Mel Olsen, whom I’d met in a Facebook group. Two years ago, on December 30, when I was 16, she and I drove to Oregon to climb 11,240-foot Mount Hood. It’s safer to start winter climbs at night when there’s less risk of the Sun melting the snowpack. That day, we started at 3 a.m., following the paths alongside the ski runs. The temperature was about 14 degrees, and we wore clothes we could easily take off, knowing the climb would make us warm.
After about five hours, we reached Devil’s Kitchen, a big flat area at about 10000 feet, just before the final push to the top. By this point, the wind became wilder. But Mel and I went ahead. We wore helmets and carried every necessary thing such as ice axes and crampons (防滑钉). We believed we were well prepared for the climb.
The trail we followed grew more difficult. At around 9 a.m., we reached a patch of ice called an ice step, which was about three or four feet tall and sloped at a 75-degree angle. I offered to go first. I placed my left foot on the ice step and it felt good. Confident I was safe. I put my full weight on it. Suddenly, I heard a crack and a whole piece of ice broke off the step right under my foot. In a flash, I fell backwards, rolling down the rocks quickly. At last, I came to a stop on a small slope just above the Devil’s Kitchen. I’d fallen 600 feet. My clothes were torn into pieces, my helmet was broken and my face was bloodied from cuts and scratches. What’s worse, I found my left leg unable to move. I shouted for help. Mel already made her way down. She also called Portland Mountain Rescue when I fell down.

One day, when I was 7 years old, my father was standing in line to buy tickets for the circus for me.
And there was only one family in front of us. I was deeply impressed by them. There were eight children, all probably under the age of twelve. You could tell they didn’t have a lot of money.
Their clothes were not expensive, but they were clean. The children were well-behaved, all of them standing in line, two-by-two behind their parents, holding hands. They were excitedly talking about the clowns, elephants, and other acts they would see that night with their brothers or sisters in a low voice.
I could sense that they had never been to the circus before. It promised to be the highlight of their young lives. The father and mother were at the head of the pack, standing proud as could be. The mother was holding her husband’s hand, looking up at him as if to say, “You are my hero.”
He was smiling and responding in pride, looking back at her as if to say, “You got that right.” The ticket lady asked the father how many tickets he wanted. He proudly responded, “Please let me buy eight children’s tickets and two adult tickets so I can take my family to the circus.”
The ticket lady gave the price. The man’s wife let go of his hand, her head dropped, and his lips began to shake. The father leaned a little closer and asked, “How much did you say?” The ticket lady again quoted the price. The man didn’t have enough money.
How was he supposed to turn and tell his eight children that he didn’t have enough money to take them to the circus? Actually, we were not wealthy in any sense. So, I understand how the kids would feel. I felt sorry for them.
Seeing what had happened, father pulled his hand in his pocket.

Tom was in high school for half a year, yet he still didn’t adapt (适应) to the new school life. He was unwilling to communicate with others. In class, he often felt lonely among his classmates, always lost in his own thoughts. As a result, he became increasingly unhappy and his learning performance began to get worse.
Mr. Smith, the headteacher, noticed his unhappiness. One Friday afternoon, the teacher walked to him and said, “Tom, I’ve noticed that you’ve been a bit down lately. Is there anything wrong? Are you willing to share your feelings with me?” Hesitating (犹豫) for a moment, Tom said in a low voice, “I just can’t fit in here. I miss my parents and old friends so much, and it seems that I have little in common with the classmates here.” They talked for a long time that afternoon.
The next Monday, it was time for the class to change seats as usual and the headteacher asked Jack, an outgoing and helpful boy, to sit next to Tom. Jack said cheerfully, “I’d like to make friends with you.” Tom was amazed by Jack’s friendly offer, but soon felt a wave of warmth flowing through his heart. Last Saturday I received a call from my close friend, Peter. He asked me to help with his group who provided musical performances at the local hospitals. At first I was unwilling to go because of my unfinished homework, but I was finally persuaded into helping out this one time, which turned out to be an unforgettable and fruitful experience.
That evening, I was picked up by Peter and went to a local hospital with him, taking my guitar and hoping I could sing some solo songs with his musical group.
An extremely large hospital came into our sight. When guided into the hall, we were shocked to find so many patients and staff there. What we saw next aroused our sympathy. Some patients were in wheelchairs or with their arms in bandages, while others were with their drips attached. Some faces were rather pale; some wore worried expressions; some walked as fast as they could. Maybe their days seemed to be dull during the period of their treatment, so our coming brought some color into their lives. Seeing their happy faces, I thought it was worthwhile to join Peter's group.
Among the audience, I spotted one particular young girl aged about 16, who was wearing a head scarf and appeared to be more delighted than the others. When we started our performance, excitement filled the hall. Peter mentioned to me that the young girl I had noticed earlier was singing along with all our songs quietly to herself. At a break, out of curiosity, I asked one of the nurses about the girl. She said that the girl suffered serious burns and was under treatment and that she was a bit down these days, but our performance had lifted her spirits. Our songs moved all the people present. They all cheered for us, including the young girl and we were inspired. Facing these lovely people, we really wanted to do more.

【答案】One possible version:
Paragraph 1:
We asked the girl if she would like to sing with us. At first, she refused our suggestion without the slightest hesitation, saying she had never sung in front of audience before.
After her performance, I saw a change in the girl’s eyes. They seemed much brighter than when we had first met her just a couple of hours ago. She appeared to have gained a lot of confidence from this experience. She told me we had made her day. A bright smile spread across the little girl’s face. I was pleased that I neither missed the opportunity to help others nor just thought of myself and my own needs. Not only stepping out did help those in need, but also it allow me to taste the sweetness of helping others.

Takehito was daydreaming when he heard a voice. “And what performance will you present at the talent show, Takehito?” Takehito’s fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Klein, had spoken and was glaring down at him now.
Takehito had been staring out the window from his desk while Mrs. Klein paced up and down the rows of desks to ask each student what talent he or she would perform for the show. The rest of the class and Takehito’s teacher were now staring and waiting for his answer.
Takehito’s face popped beet-red. He didn’t know what to say. Luckily for him, the bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. Takehito quickly gathered his books and got up to leave, but Mrs. Klein stopped him.
Actually, Mrs. Klein worried about Takehito. Last year, he and his mother immigrated from Japan to Chicago. He had not made friends easily. Some of the students in his old class made fun of the way he looked and the way he spoke. Therefore, as his teacher this year, Mrs. Klein was determined to get Takehito to perform in the talent show, knowing that if he did, he would establish some friendships before entering junior high.
“What are you good at?” asked Mrs. Klein.
Takehito, thought for a moment. “I don’t know.”
“What do you mean?” Mrs. Klein continued. “Can you draw? Can you play a sport? Can you play a musical instrument? Can you sing?
Mrs. Klein continued listing talents, but Takehito stopped listening as his gazing wandered to a poster on the wall. The poster showed a person doing breakdance (霹雳舞).
“Dancing. I will breakdance!” Takehito interrupted.
Mrs. Klein’s eyes lit up with encouragement. “That’s fantastic, Takehito! Breakdancing is a great choice. I’m sure you’ll do an amazing job.” Her smile was reassuring, and she added, “The talent show is three months away, so you have plenty of time to prepare. I’ll be here to help you prepare if you need it.”

【答案】范文
That evening, Takehito sat at the dinner table with his mother. Hesitant at first, he finally shared, “Mom, Mrs. Klein asked what I’d perform at the talent show, and I said I’d breakdance. But I’ve never danced before.” His mother looked at him with a mixture of surprise and pride. “Breakdancing, huh? That sounds exciting! Let’s find you a dance class. You’ll get better with practice.” The following week, Takehito began attending dance classes. The sessions were tough; his muscles ached, and he often stumbled over the moves. But he remembered Mrs. Klein’s encouragement and his mother’s faith in him. He kept pushing through, dedicating himself to mastering each step.
The three months slipped by in a flash, and the day of the talent show was finally here. Takehito stood backstage, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. When his turn finally came, Takehito stepped onto the stage, his heart pounding with anticipation. As the music started, he let the rhythm guide him, his movements flowing with confidence. His energetic performance was a burst of spins, flips, and powerful freezes, captivating everyone in the audience. With every move, the crowd grew more enthusiastic, their cheers growing louder. By the end of his act, the audience was almost on their feet, roaring with applause. Takehito’s face beamed with joy as he felt the infectious excitement of the crowd, knowing he had truly set the stage on fire.

When I was 15, I joined the school’s running team, which I’d dreamed of for a long time. My parents worried it would affect my studies, so they asked me to quit at once. But running made me feel free — I could forget my stress while running on the playground every afternoon.
Our coach, Mr. Zeng, noticed I practiced harder than anyone else, even staying late sometimes. One day, he said, “You have great speed. Why not join the city’s high school running competition?” I shook my head nervously. I’d never raced against students from other schools; what if I finished last?
Mr. Zeng didn’t force me, seeing my nervousness. Instead, he gave me a sign-up form (表格) the next day with a smile. The competition was in a month, right after our midterm exams. For weeks, I ran after school every day, no matter how tired I felt. When my legs felt sore, I thought of the finish line ahead. Mr. Zeng always stayed to help me: “Bend your knees a little — you’ll run faster.” Finally, the day before the competition, I told him I’d join. My hands were sweating as I handed him the form. He patted my shoulder: “Just do your best. I believe in you.”

Anthony was a fifth-grade student in the Albany Elementary School. Speaking frankly, he was not the brightest student, nor the most athletic in the school, But he had a real enthusiasm (热情) for learning and always approached his studies with strong curiosity. Every morning, he would greet the school day with a wide and genuine (真诚的) smile that brightened the entire classroom. His classmates couldn’t help but be influenced by his optimistic attitude towards life, which helped him become very popular and also form many friendships at school.
One unexpected day, the teacher announced a surprise test. It was a subject that Anthony had struggled with. Meanwhile, he was not fully prepared. As the papers were distributed, Anthony’s heart sank. He looked around, hoping for some inspiration, but all he saw were the anxious expressions of his classmates. The silence in the room was deafening, broken only by the occasional sound of turning papers.
As he began to write, Anthony realized that he knew only a fraction (小部分) of the answers. His mind raced, trying to recall anything that might help him, but in vain. Just then, a piece of paper flew across the room and landed on Anthony’s desk.

One day my grandfather gave me a gift — a piggy bank (存钱罐). It had an opening through which one could put money in, but the opening was not big enough to reach in and get the money out. The only way to get at the money was to break the piggy bank open. My grandfather explained the whole idea: the piggy bank would help save my money so that, at the end of the year, I might have enough for that bike I dreamt about. He asked if I would put some of the money he gave me into the piggy bank. I agreed immediately and promised that I wouldn’t break it open until I could afford my dream bike.
Whenever he gave me a little bit of money, he would say, “This is for spending. But you can save some and put it in the piggy bank if you want to save it up.” When he gave me larger amounts, it was clearly for saving in the piggy bank. For some time, this worked fine. I loved shaking the piggy bank and hearing the sound of the coins. As it became heavier, I grew more excited, dreaming about buying my new bike, and all the adventures I could have on it.
Whenever I wanted to take some money from the piggy bank to buy delicious ice-creams or beautiful pens, I would imagine riding my bike on the street, and thinking of that, my thoughts about ice-creams or pens went away. So for almost six months, I only put money into the piggy bank without taking any out. I thought I wouldn’t break my piggy bank for anything. But one day something unexpected happened. I saw a piece of news on the television that a serious earthquake had happened in a nearby province. As many houses were destroyed, a lot of children became homeless. Seeing their shabby (破烂的) clothes and crying faces, I couldn’t sleep that night.

It was my fourteenth birthday. My mom pushed a box tied with a silk ribbon toward me, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. “Open it,” she said softly. I carefully untied the ribbon, revealing a lovely piggy bank (存钱罐). It had an opening through which one could put money in, but the opening was not big enough to reach in and get the money out. The only way to get the money was to break the piggy bank open. “Sweetie,” my mom explained gently, stroking my hair, “this is to teach you how to save for something truly meaningful.” She leaned closer, her voice full of encouragement, “How about saving up for that trip to the Great Wall in Beijing you’ve always wanted to see? You can only break it open when you’ve saved enough.” I hugged the piggy bank tightly and nodded earnestly, making a promise to her: “Mom, I promise I won’t break it until I’ve saved enough for the trip.”
After that, whenever Mom gave me pocket money, she would say, “This is for spending, but your ‘Great Wall Fund’ is waiting too.” I would shake it, listening to the satisfying “clink” as the coin landed inside, feeling a small sense of accomplishment. As the piggy bank grew heavier, my dream seemed closer.
For three years, whenever I wanted to use the money for an ice cream or a new toy, I would gently shake the jar and hear the heavy, muffled rattle. I would picture myself standing on the ancient walls of the Great Wall, feeling the breeze on my face. I thought nothing could make me break this promise. Until one day, I learned about my classmate Chen Hao’s situation — his father was seriously ill, and his family was in trouble. That day, I watched Chen Hao huddle in his thin, worn-out coat, his frost-reddened hands clutching shabby stationery, and I felt sad about this. That night, I tossed and turned in bed. Moonlight fell on the piggy bank on my desk; it sat silently, as if waiting for my decision.

【答案】例文

That New Year’s morning, the dining room felt unusually quiet as we stepped in — only Father sat at the table. “Where’s Mother?” we asked, glancing at the empty chairs. Just then, Mother hurried in, her brows furrowed (皱眉) with worry. She told us about a poor family living nearby: a mother still weak from illness, a newborn baby, and six other children, all struggling to get by with no enough food or warmth in the cold winter. “Would you kids be willing to give them your breakfast as a New Year’ s gift?” she asked softly, her eyes full of hope.
I hesitated (犹豫), my eyes fixed on the warm porridge and soft bread on the table. My stomach had already started growling with hunger. But my sisters reacted right away: Nan nodded eagerly, saying she was happy to help; Beth volunteered to take the food to their house; even little May held up her favorite “lassy pot” and offered to give it away. Feeling guilty (内疚的) for hesitating, I quickly spoke up, “I can carry the porridge!”
Soon, we put together a small team to help. Father fetched firewood and coal to keep them warm; Mother packed some warm clothes she had folded neatly; we kids took the breakfast we’ d just given up. The streets were still quiet on New Year’ s morning as we walked, and before long, we reached a shabby little house. Through the window, we could see the whole family huddling (蜷缩) under a thin quilt, their bodies shaking with cold.

Inside was a stack of yellowed letters and a black-and-white photo, which showed a young girl standing under a huge oak tree with a bright smile. Lily recognized that it was a photo of her grandmother when she was young. Then she opened the letter with care, which read, “Dear Thomas, I have been missing you since you said goodbye to me under the oak tree...” At that moment, Lily’s heart raced wildly as she discovered a secret she had never heard her family mention before.

【答案】One possible version:
DeepSeek版(供欣赏)

In a small town, there lay a garden nourished by sunlight and rain, full of life. Here lived a hardworking gardener famous near and far — Daniel. His hands seemed to have magic, able to make the most ordinary seeds bloom into the most beautiful flowers, keeping the garden spring-like all the year round and making it a beautiful scenic spot in the town.
Eric grew up in his father’s garden and was curious about everything in the garden. However, in his school, most of his classmates came from wealthy families, discussing the latest video games, fashionable clothing, and upcoming holiday travels. Whenever Eric excitedly shared his new discoveries from the garden, he often received laughter and indifferent looks from his classmates. “Your father is just a gardener! You are a bumpkin(土包子)!” Such words, like sharp knives, stabbed his heart time and time again. He always cried secretly.
One day, Daniel found that his 11-year-old son was crying silently and asked him, “What’s the matter, son?” Eric replied, “My rich classmates laughed at me and called me son of a gardener. They said that my father lives only on the money that he earns from watering and feeding plants for people.” Daniel paused for a moment and then said, “Come with me, my son. Let us plant some flowers and it might cheer you up.”
Daniel held Eric’s hand and walked him to the garden. Then he took out some flower seeds and said, “Let’s carry out an experiment. We’ll plant two flowers separately. I will care for one and you will care for the other. I will water mine with clean water from the lake, but you will water yours with dirty water from the pond. We shall see the outcome(结果)in the weeks to come.”
Although Eric was confused about why his father asked him to water the flower with dirty water, he was still delighted to join his father in planting the flowers. It took them some days to finally germinate(使发芽)the flower seeds. They cared for them separately and watched them grow.

The state cross-country race was very hard, with mud, hills, and a cold wind. For me, a high school senior hoping for a college sports scholarship, this race was very important. The starting gun fired, and runners in colorful shirts rushed forward. I found my speed, but it was a difficult and painful pace.
The first two miles were a blur of pain. My lungs burned with every breath of cold air. When we reached the famous “Killer Hill” — a long and soul-crushing slope — many runners slowed down. I pushed very hard and passed a few tired competitors. For a short moment at the top of the hill, I even thought I could finish in the top ten.
But the effort cost me everything. The flat ground after the hill felt like running through concrete. I had a sharp pain in my side. My legs, once strong, now felt like heavy wood. The sound of the crowd in the faraway stadium seemed to laugh at me. I hit my limit, not just in my body, but in my mind. A voice in my head said with every step, “Just stop. Slow down. It’s okay to give up.”
One by one, runners I had passed earlier began to pass me. Their heavy breathing and footsteps felt like the end of my dream. With each person who passed, my will to continue broke a little more. The finish line seemed a million miles away. I was drowning in tiredness and ready to accept defeat. My goal was disappearing, and I had no strength left to fight for it.
It was at my lowest point, as I looked down at the ground, fighting tears of pain and disappointment, that I heard steady, strong footsteps coming up behind me.

Jack started a lively conversation at once, sharing his favorite hobbies and interesting experiences. Tom, who had been so lonely before, slowly found himself responding (回应) and opening up.

On Saturday morning, sunlight streamed into the room through the window. Lily was helping her mother sort out some old things her grandmother had left when a beautiful wooden box fell off the top of a wardrobe (衣柜). The box was unlocked, so curiosity drove her to open it. Inside was a stack of yellowed letters and a black-and-white photo, which showed a young girl standing under a huge oak tree with a bright smile. Lily recognized that it was a photo of her grandmother when she was young.
