根据全文内容,第一段介绍了亚洲马拉松的整体情况“Asia offers a wide range of marathon events across different countries and regions. These races are held in urban centers as well as in areas of cultural and natural significance.(亚洲在不同国家和地区举办各种各样的马拉松赛事,这些赛事既有在城市中心举办的,也有在具有文化和自然意义的地区举办的)”,表格列出了四场马拉松的具体信息,最后给出参赛注意事项,可知本文旨在提供亚洲马拉松的相关信息。
The Great Wall of China Marathon The Great Wall of China Marathon。
根据Things To Think About中“Make sure that you are making accommodations through reputable sites for travel.(确保你通过信誉良好的旅游网站预订住宿)”可知,建议参赛者在参赛前从可信的网站预订酒店。故选A。
B
Emma Gatewood — called “Grandma Gatewood” by the world — was one of the early thru-hikers of the Appalachian Trail (A.T.), the longest walking-only footpath in the world. She was not the first person — or even the first woman — to hike the trail (路线). Her hike was notable because she was the first woman ever to complete the trail alone at an advanced age.
When Gatewood did her first thru-hike in 1955, there were few hikers and it was hard to follow the trail. There were also many fewer resources for hikers — fewer stores near the trail and much less information available about the trail. But still, Gatewood hiked it alone, carrying only a bag and a hiking stick. She ate a lot of sausages and trail mix. Sometimes she ran out of food and ate berries she recognized in the forest.
After her hike, Gatewood had this to say about the trail in an interview: I thought it would be a nice lark. It wasn’t. There were terrible burnt-over areas and sand washouts, and most of the shelters were blown down, burned down or so dirty I chose to sleep out of doors. This was no trail. This was a nightmare. I would never have started this trip if I had known how tough it was, but I couldn’t and I wouldn’t quit.
All things considered, the only thing more improbable than Emma Gatewood’s completing the trail at the age of 67, is that she turned around and did it again. Twice — once in 1957 and again in 1964, at the age of 76, but this time in sections.
“Gatewood inspired many hikers over the years,” says Luxenberg, president of the Appalachian Trail Museum, “People think, ‘if this elderly woman could do the trail by herself, then I should be able to.’”
4. Which might be the title for Gatewood?
A. The first thru-hiker of A.T. B. The first female to hike A.T. alone.
C. The only woman thru-hiker of A.T. D. The oldest person to hike A.T. alone.
5. What was Gatewood’s first hike like?
A. She met extreme weather. B. There was various food.
C. She met many fellow travelers. D. There was limited information.
6. What do the underlined words in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Breaking news. B. Great fun.
C. A big challenge. D. An improbable task.
7. What message might the text want to convey?
A. Well begun is half done. B. Action speaks louder than words.
C. Success is failure turned inside out. D. Nothing is impossible to a willing heart.
B 5. D 6. B 7. D
根据第一段中“She was not the first person — or even the first woman — to hike the trail (路线). Her hike was notable because she was the first woman ever to complete the trail alone at an advanced age.(她不是第一个徒步走过这条小径的人,甚至也不是第一个女性。她的徒步旅行引人注目,因为她是第一个在高龄独自完成徒步的女性)”可知,Gatewood是第一位独自徒步阿巴拉契亚国家步道(A.T.)的女性,由此推知“The first female to hike A.T. alone.”
根据第二段中“When Gatewood did her first thru-hike in 1955, there were few hikers and it was hard to follow the trail. There were also many fewer resources for hikers — fewer stores near the trail and much less information available about the trail.(1955年,当Gatewood第一次进行穿越徒步时,徒步者寥寥无几,很难找到足迹。此外,可供徒步旅行者使用的资源也少得多——小道附近的商店更少,关于小道的信息也更少)”可知,当Gatewood第一次徒步时,信息非常有限。故选D项。
【6题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第三段“I thought it would be a nice lark. It wasn’t. There were terrible burnt-over areas and sand washouts, and most of the shelters were blown down, burned down or so dirty I chose to sleep out of doors. This was no trail. This was a nightmare.(我想这将是a nice lark。它不是。那里有可怕的烧伤区域和被沙子冲刷的地方,大多数的避难所都被风刮倒了,烧毁了,或者很脏,我选择在户外睡觉。这不是小路。这简直是一场噩梦)”中“I thought it would be”可知,Gatewood想像中的徒步旅行是“a nice lark”,而真实情况完全不一样,是一场噩梦,由此推知,划线词“a nice lark”是指想像中的“乐趣”。
C
Nature words like river, moss and blossom have appeared less frequently in books over the past years. This decline, according to a study by professor Miles Richardson from the University of Derby, mirrors a broader change he has traced through 220 years of records on urbanisation, the loss of wildlife in neighbourhoods, and parents no longer passing on engagement with nature to their children.
The computer modelling in the study also predicts an “extinction of experience”, with future generations continuing to lose an awareness of nature because it is not present in increasingly built-up neighbourhoods, while parents no longer pass on an “orientation(倾向)” towards the natural world. This is consistent with findings from other studies, which identify adult nature connectedness as the strongest predictor of whether a child will become close to nature.
Richardson said that when he tested policy and urban environmental changes in the model he was surprised at the scale of the changes required to restore the connection to nature. Increasing biodiverse green spaces in a city by 30% might look like significant positive progress for wildlife and people but Richardson said his study suggests a city might need to be 10 times greener to turn around declines in nature connection.
Efforts to simply encourage adults to engage with nature are often insufficient for lasting change. More effective are measures that build nature connection from an early age, such as forest schools for young children. Research indicates that government initiatives reshaping early education and urban design must be consistently applied over the next 25 years. Once established, this connection can become self-sustaining.
Richardson said the scale of societal change required might not be as challenging as it appeared. A study on people in Sheffield found that they spent just 4 minutes and 36 seconds on average in natural spaces each day. “Increase that by ten, and people are spending 40 minutes outside every day — that may be enough,” he said. “The key is to make these gains last across generations,” he added.
8. What change has Richardson traced in his study?
A. Nature words have disappeared from books. B. People have less direct contact with nature.
C. Urbanisation has damaged wildlife habitats. D. Parents spend more time outdoors with kids.
9. What might cause future generations to have “extinction of experience” in the model?
A. They are raised away from nature. B. They can’t adapt to changes in nature.
C. High-rise buildings fill neighbourhoods. D. Schools offer few nature science lessons.
10. What is a most effective solution to the issue according to the text?
A. Advancing long-term policies. B. Launching eco-friendly campaigns.
C. Focusing on raising adults’ awareness. D. Enlarging green space in certain areas.
11. Richardson mentioned the study on people in Sheffield to show ________.
A. nature contact varies from city to city B. people’s living habits are hard to change
C. a new way to measure nature time is needed D. small efforts help improve contact with nature
B 9. A 10. A 11. D
根据文章第一段内容“This decline, according to a study by professor Miles Richardson from the University of Derby, mirrors a broader change he has traced through 220 years of records on urbanisation, the loss of wildlife in neighbourhoods, and parents no longer passing on engagement with nature to their children.(据德比大学的Miles Richardson教授的一项研究显示,这种下降趋势反映了他所追踪到的更为广泛的变革:220年来的城市化记录、社区内野生动物的减少,以及父母不再将与自然的接触方式传递给子女的现象。)”
根据文章第二段内容“The computer modelling in the study also predicts an ‘extinction of experience’, with future generations continuing to lose an awareness of nature because it is not present in increasingly built-up neighbourhoods, while parents no longer pass on an ‘orientation’ towards the natural world.(该研究中的计算机模型还预测会出现“体验灭绝”现象,未来的世代将会逐渐失去对自然界的认知,因为自然环境已不再存在于日益密集的居民区之中,而父母们也不再向孩子们传递对自然世界的“认知导向”。)” 故选A项。
根据文章第四段内容“More effective are measures that build nature connection from an early age, such as forest schools for young children. Research indicates that government initiatives reshaping early education and urban design must be consistently applied over the next 25 years. Once established, this connection can become self-sustaining.(更为有效的是那些能在孩子幼年时期就建立与自然联系的措施,比如为幼儿设立的森林学校。研究表明,政府针对早期教育和城市规划的改革举措必须在未来 25 年内持续推行。一旦这种联系得以确立,它就能实现自我维持。)”可知,更有效的方式是从小培养亲近自然的连接,政府调整早期教育和城市设计的举措,必须在未来25年持续推行,即长期政策才是有效的解决方案。故选A项。
根据文章末尾段内容“A study on people in Sheffield found that they spent just 4 minutes and 36 seconds on average in natural spaces each day. ‘Increase that by ten, and people are spending 40 minutes outside every day — that may be enough,’ he said.(一项针对谢菲尔德市民的研究发现,他们平均每天在自然环境中停留的时间仅为4分36秒。“将这个时间增加 10 倍,人们每天就能在户外度过 40 分钟 —— 这或许已经足够了。”)”提及谢菲尔德市民每天只在自然环境中停留4分36秒,而只需增加十倍到四十分钟就够了,即,不用巨大改变,小努力就能提升亲近自然的时间。故选D项。
D
When facing an enemy, animals generally tend to fight, flee or simply stop moving. But baby caterpillars (毛毛虫) do something else completely: they vibrate (振动).
Newly-born caterpillars, very tiny, live and feed alone on the very tips of leaves. In a recent study, scientists found that the caterpillars are rather protective of their little habitat. If another caterpillar moves into their territory (领地), these tiny creatures start wildly shaking their heads and bodies against the leaf. The behaviors signal that their leaf tip is off-limits to an unexpected visitor.
This research “takes me into how complex the sensory world of even a tiny creature is — a world that humans are just not aware of,” says Jayne E. Yack, an author of the new study. The scientists used close-up videos and an instrument that could pick up a leaf’s vibrations without touching it to explore the caterpillars’ shaky world. “For such small caterpillars, their vibrations are like lion roars,” Yack says. “You have to take the headphones off your ears because they’re so loud.” The flexible leaf tip may also increase the sound, she adds.
These wild vibrations could be a bluff (虚张声势); some spiders make similar moves. “It’s a distinct possibility that they’re copying a spider to prevent somebody else from taking over their precious leaf tip,” Yack says.
Like singing birds, “these caterpillars are also declaring ownership of their territories and competing with enemies — in this case by sending vibrations through the leaf surface rather than the air,” says Andrew Mason, who studies animal communication and was not involved in the study. “This study gives us a window onto this otherwise undetectable world.”
12. What does the underlined word “off-limits” probably mean in paragraph 2?
A. Relevant. B. Forbidden. C. Limited. D. Accessible.
13. What can we learn about caterpillars from paragraph 3?
A. They are too small to track. B. They vibrate in various ways.
C. Their vibrations are very powerful. D. Their world is simpler than expected.
14. What might be the purpose of caterpillars copying spiders?
A. To attract partners. B. To make traps. C. To protect territories. D. To attack enemies.
15. What does Andrew Mason think of the study?
A. Breakthrough. B. One-sided. C. Risky. D. Typical.
B 13. C 14. C 15. A
根据第二段“If another caterpillar moves into their territory (领地), these tiny creatures start wildly shaking their heads and bodies against the leaf. The behaviors signal that their leaf tip is off-limits to an unexpected visitor.(如果另一只毛毛虫进入它们的领地,这些小家伙就会对着叶子疯狂地摇头晃身。这些行为表明,它们的叶尖对不速之客是off-limits。)”和最后一段“these caterpillars are also declaring ownership of their territories and competing with enemies — in this case by sending vibrations through the leaf surface rather than the air(这些毛毛虫也在宣布对自己领地的所有权,并与敌人竞争——在这种情况下,它们通过叶子表面而不是空气发送振动)”可猜测,新生毛毛虫会通过强烈振动宣布对自己叶尖领地的所有权,禁止其他毛毛虫进入自己的领地,off-limits意为“禁止的”,与B选项Forbidden语义一致。
根据第三段“‘For such small caterpillars, their vibrations are like lion roars,’ Yack says. ‘You have to take the headphones off your ears because they’re so loud.’(亚克说:‘对于这么小的毛毛虫来说,它们的振动就像狮子的吼叫。你必须摘下耳机,因为声音太大了。’)”可知,毛毛虫的振动非常强烈。故选C项。
【14题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段“‘It’s a distinct possibility that they’re copying a spider to prevent somebody else from taking over their precious leaf tip,’ Yack says.(亚克说:‘它们很有可能在模仿蜘蛛,以防止其他生物占据它们宝贵的叶尖。’)”
根据最后一段Andrew Mason所说“This study gives us a window onto this otherwise undetectable world.(这项研究为我们打开了一扇窗,让我们得以了解这个原本无法察觉的世界。)” 故选A项。
Turf houses are, quite simply, half underground houses with a grassy roof. They date back over 1,000 years to the 9th Century, when building a turf house was the traditional way in Iceland.
Iceland’s resources then consisted of plenty of wetlands and volcanic stone, but relatively little woodland compared to settlers’ home countries. ____16____
Like many traditions, turf houses survived, but developed. In the 14th Century Viking-style longhouses (thin, long, shared spaces) gave way to individual, smaller buildings. ____17____ Turf houses made way to more modern, recognisable buildings in the 20th Century, but they still exist as museums and heritage (遗产) buildings today.
____18____ Due to the difficult climate, it was essential that the houses should be well-insulated (保温). Besides, the lack of availability of wood and the richness of other suitable materials including lava rock and turf made turf houses available. Turf provides great insulation for buildings compared to those made of wood or stone alone.
From the turn of the 20th Century, Icelanders increasingly moved into larger city settlements, leaving turf houses behind. ____19____ Modern turf houses tend to operate as museums, though some offer short-term holiday accommodation.
While the number of turf houses in Iceland reduced greatly in the 20th Century, the rapid growth of Iceland’s tourism in the last 20 years or so has encouraged Iceland to reexamine the value of traditional buildings. ____20____ The Turf House Tradition was listed as potential nominees (提名) for UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Iceland, which included just six places of importance.
A. Turf houses have great advantages.
B. The last residents moved out of their turf-houses around 1966.
C. There are two main reasons why turf houses were built in Iceland.
D. That’s why early Icelanders faced a shortage of building materials.
E. So, using stone and turf was a reasonable choice in building shelter.
F. A big step towards protecting this national heritage was made in 2011.
G. The late 18th Century saw the arrival of the turf house with wooden ends.
E 17. G 18. C 19. B 20. F

Li Jin
One possible version:
Dear fellow students,
Nowadays, our planet is facing serious environmental problems. Extreme weather like storms and droughts is becoming more frequent, glaciers are melting, and many species are in danger of extinction. These problems are largely caused by human activities that harm the environment.
As students, we can take action in our daily lives. For example, we can save water by turning off the tap when brushing teeth, reduce waste by using reusable bags instead of plastic ones, and choose to walk or ride bikes to school to cut down on carbon emissions. Even small acts like planting a tree or picking up litter can make a difference.
Protecting the environment is not just a slogan but a responsibility we all share. Let’s start from ourselves and encourage those around us to join in. Only through our joint efforts can we reduce natural disasters and build a better future for our planet.

I have a public pool habit when I travel. It’s how I observe everyday life, wherever I am.
I was reminded of this the other day while getting a haircut from my hairdresser Noel. He mentioned a trip he was about to take, and I asked what he was planning to do. “Oh, I’m going to the barbershop,” he said. “Whenever I go someplace new, I like to head over to the local barbershop for a haircut.” He loves having a window into the lives of strangers. I had always thought of my public pool visits as strange. However, Noel’s barbershop habit made me see them as a shared way of thinking about travel. Our eyes met in the mirror, and I smiled in recognition.
“Authentic” is a popular word these days when we talk about travel. I think it means wanting to know something real about a place. So often, the vacation plan sold to us involves a schedule that has been followed by millions of others, one that promises to be amazing, eye-opening and new. And yet so little of it truly surprises since we’ve already seen it all on social media. Taking part in real daily life, not designed especially for you, is what really matters. That’s where the surprise lies.
I decided to ask people who travel a lot about what they like to do when they are on the road. My friend Jon is a musician. When he is on tour, he loves finding fruit he has never had before. He’ll load the tour bus with his discoveries. Wherever public radio journalist Lisa goes, she opens up eBird, a citizen science app, to find out what has been spotted recently, and then plans her day accordingly. Birding leads her to parks she would otherwise never visit.
Listening to people talk about how they open a window to life elsewhere reminds me of why I love travel. A kind of fruit or a bird you’ve never seen before can offer an unexpected path to discovery. Rather than passively watch, you connect with a place long enough to uncover a truth about it.
52. What is the author’s habit when traveling?(No more than 5 words)
________________________________________________________________________
53. Why did the author smile at Noel in the mirror?(No more than 15 words)

56. What matters most about travel in your opinion? Why?(At least 40 words)

Visiting public pools./ Public pool visits. 关键词public pools
53. Because they both like exploring local life while traveling./ Because they both get connected with local life. / Because they share the same way of thinking about travel. / Because they both like having a window into the lives of strangers. / Because they love observing everyday life wherever they travel. / Because they both want to know something real about a place.
54. They’re predictable because they lack real surprises. / They’re not truly surprising because people have already seen them on social media. / They’re not so amazing because of too much exposure on social media.
55. It supports the opinion of authentic travel. / Real travel means connecting with local life and discovering something real about a place.
56. (possible version 1)In my opinion, what matters most about travel is experiencing authentic life. It allows people to connect deeply with the local culture, rather than just follow typical tourist routes. In a world of social media and staged experiences, authentic travel brings real surprises and personal growth. It helps travelers understand a place in a more meaningful and honest way.
(possible version 2)I think getting connected with local place actively is quite important because it helps people better understand and respect different cultures, which can reduce misunderstandings and build tolerance. It also allows travelers to grow personally by facing new challenges and gaining confidence. Moreover, authentic travel helps people make meaningful connections with locals and other travelers, enriching their social life and broadening their views of the world.
(possible version 3)In my opinion, what matters most about travel is seeing famous landmarks and visiting well-known attractions. These places are popular for a reason—they reflect the history, art, or spirit of a city. While daily life is interesting, I think seeing iconic sights gives you a clear and lasting impression of a place, and helps you understand why it’s special to the world.
根据第一段中“I have a public pool habit when I travel.(我旅行时喜欢去公共泳池)”可知,作者旅行时喜欢去公共泳池。
根据第二段中“He loves having a window into the lives of strangers. I had always thought of my public pool visits as strange. However, Noel’s barbershop habit made me see them as a shared way of thinking about travel. Our eyes met in the mirror, and I smiled in recognition.(他喜欢有一个了解陌生人生活的窗口。我一直觉得去公共泳池很奇怪。然而,Noel的理发店习惯让我看到了他们对旅行的一种共同思考方式。我们的目光在镜子里相遇,我认同地笑了笑)”可知,作者旅行时喜欢去公共泳池,而Noel旅行时喜欢去当地的理发店,他们有共同的爱好,都喜欢在旅行时探索当地的生活,了解一个地方的真实情况。故答案是Because they both like exploring local life while traveling./ Because they both get connected with local life. / Because they share the same way of thinking about travel. / Because they both like having a window into the lives of strangers. / Because they love observing everyday life wherever they travel. / Because they both want to know something real about a place.
根据第三段中“So often, the vacation plan sold to us involves a schedule that has been followed by millions of others, one that promises to be amazing, eye-opening and new. And yet so little of it truly surprises since we’ve already seen it all on social media.(很多时候,卖给我们的度假计划包括一个已经被数百万人遵循的时间表,这个时间表承诺是惊人的,大开眼界的和崭新的。然而,由于我们已经在社交媒体上看到了这一切,所以真正令人惊讶的事情很少)”可知,作者认为销售给我们的度假计划是可预测的,因为人们已经在社交媒体上看到它们,缺乏真正的惊喜。故答案是They’re predictable because they lack real surprises. / They’re not truly surprising because people have already seen them on social media. / They’re not so amazing because of too much exposure on social media.
第三段最后两句“Taking part in real daily life, not designed especially for you, is what really matters. That’s where the surprise lies.(真正重要的是参与真正的日常生活,这不是专门为你设计的东西。这就是惊喜所在)”提到,真正的旅行是融入当地生活,第四段“My friend Jon is a musician. When he is on tour, he loves finding fruit he has never had before. He’ll load the tour bus with his discoveries. Wherever public radio journalist Lisa goes, she opens up eBird, a citizen science app, to find out what has been spotted recently, and then plans her day accordingly. Birding leads her to parks she would otherwise never visit.(我的朋友Jon是一位音乐家。当他在巡演时,他喜欢寻找他以前从未吃过的水果。他会把他的发现装满旅游巴士。无论公共电台记者Lisa走到哪里,她都会打开一个名为eBird的公民科学应用程序,看看最近发现了什么,然后据此计划自己的一天。观鸟把她带到了她从未去过的公园)”可知,以Jon和Lisa为例说明了什么是真正的旅行,即融入当地生活,发现一个地方真实的一面。故答案是It supports the opinion of authentic travel. / Real travel means connecting with local life and discovering something real about a place.
本题是开放题型,询问旅行中最重要的是什么,答案合理即可,例如:结合第三段最后两句“Taking part in real daily life, not designed especially for you, is what really matters. That’s where the surprise lies.(真正重要的是参与真正的日常生活,这不是专门为你设计的东西。这就是惊喜所在)”可知,在我看来,旅行最重要的是体验真实的生活。它可以让人们深入了解当地文化,而不仅仅是遵循典型的旅游路线。在社交媒体和舞台体验的世界里,真实的旅行带来了真正的惊喜和个人成长。它帮助旅行者以一种更有意义和诚实的方式了解一个地方。故答案是(possible version 1)In my opinion, what matters most about travel is experiencing authentic life.

B. One-sided. C. Risky. D. Typical.

________________________________________________________________________
54. How does the author feel about the vacation plans sold to us? Why?(No more than 15words)

55. What idea do the examples in paragraph 4 help to support?(No more than 15 words)
________________________________________________________________________
56. What matters most about travel in your opinion? Why?(At least 40 words)
