In the small village of Awankhed,India,17-year-old Aditya Pingale is trying to change the future of farming."I would see
farmers, especially my uncle, carry a heavy container on their back and walk through-the whole field, spraying (everything
by hand. They work from morning to night, facing tough weather.I know the weight it puts on both their bodies and their spirits.
Thus,I wanted to do something, and that is how the idea of the robot KrushiBot was born,"said Aditya.
With no formal knowledge of robotics,Aditya_set out to leam everything from the ground up.The Salaam Bombay
Foundation offered him training in mobile technology, basic electrical systems, and necessary skills. At home, his father became
his hands-on'guide,teaching him how to work with tools.Meanwhile, his close friends contributed to shaping the project,
offering design ideas, solving challenges, and cheering him on every step of the way.Together, they turned a shared dream into
something real, built not in a lab,but in the heart of their village.
Over months of trial and error,Aditya pieced together a functioning machine. He put a 360-degree camera on KrushiBot,
enabling farmers to get a real-time view of the field without having to physically walk through it.In addition,he added a basic
system that allows the sprayer to be raised or lowered depending on the crop's height. This is a good solution for farms that grow
a variety of crops, such as tall grape plants and short plants like mint leaves. Moreover,KrushiBot can be used for different tasks
一spraying water or fertilizer(肥料)一by simply changing certain parts.
"Aditya built the robot piece by piece, and kept improving it.His clear thinking and goals made him stand out,"said Gaurav
Arora,Chief Growth Officer at the Salaam Bombay Foundation."His fobot improved real farming conditions, which made
farmers'lives easier, healthier, and more respected. It is not only a technological solution, but it also stands as a symbol of hope
for the farmers.”
4.Why did Aditya want to create the robot?
A.To gain certain engineering skills.
B.To reduce chemical use in farming.
C.To promote safe farming practices.
D.To lighten farmers'heavy workload.
5.What was key to the success of Aditya's robotic project?
A.Advanced lab equipment.
B.Rersonal talent in robotics.
C.Support from various groups.
D.Online instructional courses.
6.Which of the following best describes KrushiBot?
A.Smart and eco-friendly.
B.Practical and adaptable.
C.Powerful and cost-effective.
D.Fashionable and lightweight.
7.What has Aditya's achievement brought about according to Arora?
A.Wide recognition from local farmers.
B.The spread of traditional farming methods.
.Meaningful changes to the farming community.
D.Discussions on machines'impact on food safety

When people plan a trip, many still depend on travel agents )to arrange transportation, accommodation and meals.
Recently, however, more travelers have started tumning to artificial intelligence (Al)to do the job themselves.Large language
models, which can communicate with users in everyday language, seem well suited for this task.Yet researchers have pointed out
that things may not be as simple as they appear.
Studies show that while these AI models perform well in basic conversations, they often work poorly when travel plans
include many requirements at once.As one researcher explains, such plans usually require decisions to be made under several
conditions,such as time,cost and transportation."In these cases,"she notes,"more often than not,they simply won't work."
A research team from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)chose to rethink the problem by applying special
checking tools apart from the use of Al.Instead of asking AI to directly produce a travel plan, the team treated trip planning as a
task of checking whether all user conditions could realistically be met.First,AI figures out the user's major requirements based on
their input. Then, checking tools are used to test whether these needs can be satisfied together. If a conflict appears, the system
points it out and offers possible changes."The goal is not to force a solution,"one team member says,"but to help users see what
doesn't work and what does."
According to the researchers, people face similar situations in daily life, where even a small unmet requirement can cause a
plan to fail.AI,they argue,is good at understanding human needs, while checking tools focus on whether a plan truly works. This
division (of roles allows users to describe their wishes in simple language without worrying about the technical details
behind the scenes.
Tests suggest that this approach performs much better than using AI alone.More importantly, the researchers believe the
method has uses beyond travel planning.Any real-life task that covers a series of decisions and limits, they say, could likely
benefit from the same idea.
8 What is the main problem with using Al for travel planning?
A.It often responds slowly.
B.It struggles with various limits.
E It depends on human gudance.
D.It requires the user's background.
9.What will the system do in response to a plan conflict?
.Offer a list of key questions.
B.Remove the limiting conditions.
C Create a completely new plan itself.
D.Locate issues for better decision-making.
10.Which is the key idea behind the MIT team's new method?
Narrowing down users'needs.
B.Improving AI's language skills.
C.Partnering AI with special tools.
D.Updating software with more data.
'1.What is the researchers'attitude towards the application of this method?
A Hopeful.B.Doubtful.C.Worried.D.Uncertain.

Lighting plays a key role when it comes to visual.storytelling.Whether it's film.or photography, creators'spend many hours
creating the perfect lighting for their scene. But once a photograph or video is taken, the lighting is almost fixed.Changing it
afterward,a task called relighting, typically requires careful work by skilled artists. Some AI tools try to deal with this by
depending on billions of training images to guess how light works in a scene. But the process is often a black box.Users can't
control the lighting directly or understand how the result was made, which can cause unexpected changes to the scene.
Recently, researchers in the Computational Photography Lab at SFU have offered a different approach to relighting.Given
a photograph, the method begins by making a 3D model of the scene. This 3D model shows the shape and surface colors of the
scene, while purposely leaving out any lighting.
"After creating the 3D scene, users can place virtual light sources into it,much like they would in a real photo studio,"
explained Chris Careaga, the lead author of the work."The researchers then use computer graphics techniques to show how the
user's chosen lights would look in the scene. This new approach can turn a basic image into a wonderful photo."
"What makes our approach unique is that it gives users the same kind of lighting management you'd expect in 3D tools,"
Careaga added."Our result is a precise realization of the user's preferred lighting."Their approach makes it possible to put new
light sources into images and.have them matched well with the scene. The result is the ability.to create.relighted images that were
previously impossible to achieve.
The team's relighting system now only works with still images, but they plan to make it work with videos in the future.
This could greatly help professionals who create visual effects for movies, saving them a great amount of time."As this
technology continues to develop, filmmakers can change lighting after filming-without.remaking scenes or depending on AI
tools,"said Dr.Yagiz Aksoy, who leads the Computational Photography Lab at SFU.
12.What can be known about relighting?
A:It is a challenging task.
B.It works better in videos.
C.It leads to more natural scenes.
D.It becomes simple with AI tools.
13.How does the SFU method help achieve wonderful photo effects?
A.By changing the camera settings.
3
B.By copying lighting from other images.
C.By applying standard photo processing.
D.By controlling lighting in digital models.
14.What does the underlined word"precise"in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.Poor.
B.Exact.C.Funny.D.Unreal.
15.How do professionals probably find the relighting system?
.Basic but practical.
B.Risky and wasteful.
C:Powerful but costly.
D.Effective and convenient.

1 My teacher Peter Bullock proved that science wasn't boring and made physics great fun.In every lesson he would produce
one of those worksheets in purple ink that smelled fresh from the machine.Every sheet contained a poem or a joke and we looked
forward to them being handed out.I've kept them all to show to my own children. There was one poem in particular that's stayed
in my memory,which went:
In early days Man measured Time
By sunrise and sunset sublime;
2 As well as being able to turn physics into poetry,Peter had energy and passion and conveyed the sense that science was part
of the world around you and not a dull boring academic discipline.Pm sure he was sticking pretty much to the standard
topics-waves and electricity and so on-but he managed to convert everything into a joke or a/story and did so in a clever and
imaginative way.
3 Peter Bullock was not only an exciting teacher, but also the man who founded the debate club in my school. He encouraged
me to take part and express myself in a forceful way that I've been doing ever since-and getting paid for it.That made me what I
am today-a.commercial lawyer.
Peter Bullock taught me throughout my secondary schooling and I took physics, chemistry and maths at A-level.Everyone
in his class enjoyed learning. He was inspiring. He turned me on to the idea that the things you are interested in might seem dull
on the surface, but you can still excite others. For example, when I tell people I'm interested in law, they may think:"How
boring."I guess being a physics teacher is much the same.Peter.showed me that what matters is how you convey your own
passion so that you excite other people.
51.Why did the students expect to get the worksheets in Peter's class?(no more than 10 words)
52.What is the meaning of the underlined word in Para.2?
53.What does Para.3 mainly tell us?(no more than 15 words)
54.How did Peter make his students interested in the things that seem dull?(no more than 10 words)
55.According to this passage, what do you think is the most important quality of a good teacher? Please explain.(no less than 20
words)
