Around Shanghai, Songlin Farm, a large pig farm, is showing the world that modern farming doesn’t have to harm the environment.
In the past, animal waste from large farms often caused problems for water, air, and nearby land. However, this farm has found a greener way. It uses a special, “closed-loop (闭环)” system to turn pig waste into fertilizer (肥料) and green energy.
The key to the system is a process called anaerobic digestion (厌氧消化). The farm collects pig waste through pipes (管道) and sends it directly into special tanks without oxygen (O2). There, the waste is broken down and produces biogas and biogas slurry (沼气和沼液). Since the waste moves through pipes and tanks, it is less possible to pollute the ground or the air.
After that, the two products are used in different ways. The biogas is cleaned and turned into a kind of green gas. Part of it is sent into Shanghai’s city gas pipes. It is reported to be the first project of its kind in the city. The biogas slurry, on the other hand, becomes a natural fertilizer. It is used on about 867 hm2 of nearby farmland and helps save around 2 million yuan in fertilizer costs each year.
The system also helps vegetables grow better. In the farm’s vegetable area, workers use biogas slurry on vegetables such as tomatoes and potatoes. Carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the biogas-cleaning process is also used as a fertilizer. According to the farm, this can increase vegetable production by about 20 percent.
In this way, the farm creates a circle of pig waste, biogas, fertilizer, and vegetables. Experts believe this model can be used in other places and may help cities move closer to zero - waste development. It shows that with the help of science, even waste can become part of a greener future.
29.Why does the writer list numbers in Paragraph 4?

Recent reports show that more teens feel sad or hopeless compared with ten years ago.
In his new book How We Grow Up: Understanding Adolescence, journalist Matt Richtel explores the reasons behind teen stress and how adults can help.
One reason why teens feel more stressed is that they have still-developing brains and think too much about what’s happening around them. At the same time, they face a fast-changing world full of information—from school, friends, and online. This can lead to overthinking and worry. Many people blame (责备) phones as the main cause of their stress. Too much screen time can indeed be harmful. But it’s not the only reason. That’s why simply taking away teens' phones won't solve this situation. What’s more important is helping them to find a balance—getting enough sleep, staying active, and having face-to-face conversations.
The teenage years are a time of big change, and this change itself is another cause of stress.
During this time, young people start to move from depending on their parents to being independent (独立的). This change is natural and necessary for growing up, but it can also bring stress—teens may not know how to make choices by themselves or they may worry that they can't do things well. This worry makes them question what their parents and teachers have taught them. The process makes them feel quite stressed.
That is why help from parents is so important. Sometimes, teens may feel down even in loving homes because emotions (情绪) are hard to understand. Just like an adult might get stressed at work, teens can feel too stressed to deal with many small things together. Understanding this can help parents be supportive. In this way, parents can be good guides for their children.
In short, mental health challenges in teens come from a mix of still-developing brains, the world around them, and the stress of growing up in a fast-changing world. To help with these problems, we shouldn’t just blame phones or be too strict with them. Instead, what matters is listening carefully, staying close to them, and guiding them with care and understanding.
37.What is more important for teens according to Paragraph 2?
A.Becoming more independent. B.Finding a healthy life balance.
C.Staying away from their phones. D.Dealing with emotional challenges.
38.What does Paragraph 3 mainly talk about?
A.What else brings teens stress and worries.
B.Why teens become independent of parents.
C.How teens deal with stress from their parents.
D.Why teens question what they've been taught.
39.It is better to put “Open talks and patience can build trust.” in ____.
A.1 B.2 C.3 D.4
40.How is the passage organized? (①=Paragraph 1, ②=Paragraph 2, ③=Paragraph 3, ④=Paragraph 4, ⑤=Paragraph 5)
A.① →②③④ →⑤ B.①→② ③→④⑤ C.①→②③ →④⑤ D.①→② ③④→⑤

A.To show the farm is very large and quite wealthy.
B.To suggest how difficult it is to use biogas slurry.
C.To make the benefits more believable and clearer.
D.To compare Songlin Farm with other special farms.
30.Which picture can best show the use of the “closed–loop” system?
A. B.
C. D.
31.Which of the following shows the use of this system?
A.Change animal waste into gas for heating.
B.Use clean water to produce electric power.
C.Clean factory waste and pour it out safely.
D.Plant more trees to improve air quality in cities.
32.What’s the writer’s main purpose of introducing the Songlin farm?
A.To explain how the biogas is made from pig waste.
B.To show a useful example for greener farming today.
C.To describe different methods used on modern farms.
D.To tell us that only large farms can help reduce pollution.

30.根据文章第二段第3句“It uses a special, ‘closed-loop (闭环)’ system to turn pig waste into fertilizer (肥料) and green energy.”
31.第二段第2句“It uses a special, ‘closed-loop (闭环) ’ system to turn pig waste into fertilizer (肥料) and green energy.”提到这个系统可以把动物粪便转化成沼气这种绿色燃气,用于供热,对应A 选项。
32.根据文章首段“modern farming doesn’t have to harm the environment”和尾段“Experts believe this model can be used in other places and may help cities move closer to zero - waste development.”可推知,作者介绍松林农场,是为了给当下的绿色农业展示一个可行且有价值的范例。

I’m Li Ming. I live in a nice neighbourhood in the countryside. There’s a school, a small shop, a hospital, two bookshops and a big supermarket in it. My neighbours are kind and helpful. Some of them are volunteers. They have many kinds of skills and often help us with all kinds of problems.
Usually there is a “helping hands” meeting at the weekend at the community centre. We can go there when we need help with our problems. Computer engineers are popular. They help us check our computers. We can also find someone to fix things like broken washing machines or fridges. From time to time some lawyers help us learn about laws.
Students can get help with their homework. There are some college students among the volunteers and they are always ready to help. Volunteers also help the old people. Some of them often visit the old people and do some shopping for them. Sometimes some volunteers help the old people tidy their flats.
Just as the saying goes, “Close neighbours are better than distant relatives.” In the neighbourhood we are like a big family. To us, the home is not only the house we live in, but also the neighbourhood we belong to. We all work hard to make it an even better place.
