Passage 1
A Broken Model Plane
Mark and Peter are good friends. Last Friday, they made a model plane together for the school show. Mark wanted to paint it blue, but Peter liked green. They argued and argued. At last, Mark shouted, "I don't want to work with you!" and he pushed the model plane off the table. It broke into pieces. Peter's eyes turned red, but he didn't say a word. He just walked away.
That evening, Mark felt very bad. He remembered how Peter had helped him with his maths every week. "I was wrong to yell at him," he thought. On Saturday morning, Mark went to Peter's home and said, "I'm sorry I broke our plane. I felt angry, but shouting was wrong. Can we talk it out?" Peter smiled and said, "I should say sorry, too. Let's make a new one — half blue and half green!" They laughed and worked together all day. Their new plane won first prize at the school show.

Their mother came and asked them to calm down. She said, "Take turns to talk. Tell each other how you feel." Linda said, "I feel worried when I can't finish my homework on time." Lucy said, "I feel sad when I break a promise to my friend." At last, they worked out a plan together: Lucy played the game for half an hour first, and then Linda used the computer for her report. A fight with my friend
Last week, I had a fight with my good friend Jim. He took my storybook without asking me, and I felt really angry. I yelled at him, and we didn't talk for two days. Then our teacher told us to calm down and talk it out. I said, "I feel angry when you take my things without asking." Jim said sorry, and I said sorry for yelling, too. We put the fight behind us. Now I know friends should talk about their feelings instead of shouting at each other.
