In 1957, humans sent the first satellite into space. Today, a large number of human-made objects (物体) are moving around our planet. Some of these objects are of no use, and then they become space junk.
Space junk goes very fast—about 17, 000 miles an hour! If a piece of space junk hits (撞击) objects like the International Space Station or working satellites, it can be dangerous.

Luckily, scientists are working on ideas that might one day help clean up space junk. Here are two interesting ones:

Up to June 2024, this service has expanded (扩大) to the Beijing-Guangzhou, Beijing-Harbin, Shanghai-Kunming and other high-speed railways.
What is a “quiet carriage”? It is a place for people who want a quiet trip. In these carriages, videos have no sound and announcements (广播) are at a low volume (音量). 13.A.though B.or C.but D.because
14.A.questions B.letters C.words D.worries
15.A.easier B.better C.worse D.faster
1.C 2.D 3.B 4.A 5.B 6.A 7.C 8.D 9.A 10.B 11.C 12.B 13.D 14.C 15.B
根据“because I was short or I wasn't good at tennis”,可知对方是在取笑作者。
根据“but I failed.
根据“My dad listened to me”及后文爸爸理性的建议,可知爸爸是耐心安静地倾听,故选quietly。
根据后文“I brought the list”,可知此处是make a list(列清单)。
根据“did ___ my dad told me”,此处缺宾语从句引导词,指代爸爸告诉的内容,用what。
根据“like being very thin”,这是生理特征,很难改变。 make“制作”、give“给”和 have“有”语义不符。
根据“brought the list...to Dad”,指把清单带回来给爸爸看。
根据“not just shut your ears”,可知建议是要学会听,故选listen。

B.stop scientists from sending satellites into space
C.ask people to take the problems of space junk seriously
D.tell people how to make satellites
16.A 17.A 18.A 19.B 20.C
根据第一段中“Some of these objects are of no use, and then they become space junk.”
17.根据第二段中“If a piece of space junk hits (撞击) objects like the International Space Station or working satellites, it can be dangerous.”及第三段中“And orbits are getting more crowded because of space junk... So the orbits are becoming more difficult to get into.”
18.根据第五段中“The water would become a wall to hit the junk and make it slow down or fall out of orbit.”
19.根据第六段中“A satellite called Clear Space-1 would find and catch space junk.”
20.根据最后一段中“Maybe we need to think about more ways to keep space clean without polluting our own planet.”

The Chinese knot (中国结) is a knot that is woven (编织) from a single rope into different shapes. Each shape has its own meaning. Now you can see it as a decoration or a gift for friends. People can use ropes of different colors to weave a Chinese knot, but they usually choose red because it means good luck and it’s a symbol of joyful culture in China.
The Chinese knot has a long history. People might have originally made them to record information and send messages before they started to use words.
