Ancient “Teachers’ Day”-Style Celebrations In ancient China, people celebrated a similar holiday on the birthday of Confucius. Besides celebrating Confucius’ birth, all teachers had a day off and received dried meat as gifts. 1 The Birth of Modern Teachers’ Day Modern Teachers’ Day in China was set up by the government in 1985. The government hoped that by celebrating this holiday, more people would realize the importance of teachers. 2 Today, people celebrate Teachers’ Day on September 10th every year. 4 One of the most popular Teachers’ Day celebrations is visiting the school from which one graduated. This tradition allows students who have already graduated to express thanks to their teachers who prepared them well for life. For students who are still in school, there are many ways to show thanks to their beloved teachers, such as sending self-made Teachers’ Day cards, writing heartfelt letters, or giving fresh flowers. A Special Comparison: Teachers as Gardeners In China, teachers are often compared to gardeners. 4 This comes from the idea that, like flowers, students require proper nurturing (培育) and care in order to grow healthily. In a way, the education and guidance provided by teachers serve as important support. And, of course, the most skilled gardeners grow the most beautiful flowers! A.The Valuable Gifts on Teachers’ Day B.Students are often compared to flowers. C.Popular Ways to Celebrate Teachers’ Day D.Excellent teachers were also given silver coins. E.It also wanted more people to go into the educational field. 1.根据上文“In ancient China, people celebrated a similar holiday on the birthday of Confucius. Besides celebrating Confucius’ birth, all teachers had a day off and received dried meat as gifts.” 2.根据上文“Modern Teachers’ Day in China was set up by the government in 1985. The government hoped that by celebrating this holiday, more people would realize the importance of teachers.” 中,“also”与前文“hoped that...” 3.根据下文“One of the most popular Teachers’ Day celebrations is visiting the school from which one graduated.”和“For students who are still in school, there are many ways to show thanks to their beloved teachers, such as sending self-made Teachers’ Day cards, writing heartfelt letters, or giving fresh flowers.” 4.根据上文“In China, teachers are often compared to gardeners.”和下文“This comes from the idea that, like flowers, students require proper nurturing and care in order to grow healthily.” Passage 2 (25-26九年级上·辽宁盘锦大洼区·期中) Guangxi is known not only for its natural beauty but also for its rich culture. She waits for your advice. This is hard. If you say the wrong thing, you might let her down. When a friend has a problem, you want to help. It is easy to just say, “Everything will be OK.” 1 We say it because we feel we must say something. We are happy they asked us for help. So, should you give advice? 2 Often, a friend just needs someone to listen. First, ask yourself: Do they want advice, or do they just need to talk? Talking can make them feel better. It is okay to ask them, “Would you like my suggestions?” 3 If you cannot think of a solution (解决办法), just say so. Your friend will understand. You can still listen carefully. Try to see the problem from their side. Later, you can think about what you would do. Then, you can come back with a few ideas. Some problems take time. It can be hard to hear your friend talk about the same problem over and over. But letting them “talk it out” is helpful. 4 They might need to feel sure about their decision. Sometimes, just being there for them is the best help you can give. A.It is important to be honest. B.This isn’t what your friend needs. C.They might be trying to find courage. D.Yes, but you must do it the right way. E.But this does not really help your friend. 1.根据前句“It is easy to just say, ‘Everything will be OK.’” 2.根据前文“So, should you give advice?” 3.根据“If you cannot think of a solution (解决办法), just say so. Your friend will understand.”, 选项A“诚实是很重要的”是对“想不出办法就直说”这一建议的概括,符合语境。故选A。 4.根据前句“But letting them ‘talk it out’ is helpful.”,让他们把话说出来,选项C“他们可能正在努力寻找勇气”承接下文“They might need to feel sure about their decision.” Passage 2 (25-26九年级上·辽宁鞍山岫岩·期中) Friends are just around us in our life. There were 280 teams from 16 countries and regions. They took part in 26 events. These games tested how well robots can “feel”, “think” and move. One exciting part was the 5-on-5 soccer games. 1 What can humanoid robots do? Humanoid robots are already doing many everyday jobs, like saying hello to people in restaurants. In one game, robots had to sort medicines. 2 It is already helping to find people the right medicines in a smart pharmacy (药房) in Beijing. By the end of 2025,100 pharmacies across China will use this kind of robot. Is it easy to make humanoid robots? No, it isn’t. Standing up and running are easy for us, but very hard for robots. They need actuators (执行器) and effectors (效应器) to do the things. 3 Effectors, like arms and legs, help robots deal with the environment. Short battery (电池) life and overheating are also problems. Why do people make robots looking like humans? 4 However, most things around us, like doors and stairs (楼梯), are made for our size and shape. If the robot looks like us, it can use these things like we do. This way, we don’t need to make big changes to everything. That can save a lot of money and time. A.Actuators make robots move. B.We can make robots in different shapes. C.One robot, called Galbot, won first place. D.Some of them are new products made in China. E.Robots from 14 countries played all by themselves for the first time. 1.根据前句“One exciting part was the 5-on-5 soccer games.” 2.根据前句“In one game, robots had to sort medicines.”以及后句“It is already helping to find people the right medicines in a smart pharmacy in Beijing.” 3.根据前句“They need actuators and effectors to do the things.”以及后句“Effectors, like arms and legs, help robots deal with the environment.” 故选A。   4.根据后句“However, most things around us, like doors and stairs, are made for our size and shape.” Passage 2 (25-26九年级上·辽宁大连瓦房店市·期中) When we think of farming, we often picture grass, blue skies, cows, and sheep. But now, a new meat industry (产业) is rising. It looks very different from the traditional one. 1 The idea began in 1931. Scientists worked for years and made it happen. Lab-grown meat does not come from animals. Instead, it grows from a single cell (细胞) in a container. 2 As this industry grows, people raised a question: Is lab-grown meat good for nature? 3 For example, KFC once tried to make some chicken products from lab-grown meat. Some believe it’s environmentally friendly in the long run. It does not require land, water, or feed. And it avoids greenhouse (温室) gases perfectly. But a study by the University of California shows a different view. 4 The scientists compared the carbon (碳) footprint of both ways. One kilogram of beef makes around 100 kilograms of CO₂. But lab-grown meat may produce 4 to 25 times more than that! This is because energy is needed to run the containers where cells grow. However, many scientists are still working on lab-grown meat, so the result is not final. It seems that lab-grown meat needs more time to prove itself. A.Many companies say yes. B.It’s called “lab-grown meat”. C.In this way, no animals need to be killed. D.Lab-grown meat has more advantages than traditional meat. E.It found that lab-grown meat might be even worse for the earth. 1.根据“But now, a new meat industry (产业) is rising. It looks very different from the traditional one.” 2.根据“Lab-grown meat does not come from animals. Instead, it grows from a single cell (细胞) in a container.” 3.根据“For example, KFC once tried to make some chicken products from lab-grown meat.” 故选A。 4.根据“But a study by the University of California shows a different view.” Passage 3 (25-26九年级上·辽宁鞍山·期中) Most of us think the telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell. However, he wasn’t the first person to think of the idea. In fact, an Italian named Antonio Meucci was officially recognized as the inventor a few years ago. Who is Meucci and why wasn’t he known for his invention at the time? Antonio Meucci was born in Italy in 1808. He studied engineering and drawing. During his studies, Meucci started to experiment with electricity. 1 When two places were connected with wires, people in those places could hear each other talk. In 1850, Meucci and his wife, Ester, moved to New York. Meucci was worried about his wife, because she had become very ill. 2 To solve this problem, he connected his home and his workshop with metal cables. This way, they could talk to each other conveniently. Meucci invited a group of people to see his new invention. They listened in amazement as the voice of a singer came through the wires. 3 Even worse, Meucci never applied for a patent (专利) on his invention. Meanwhile, Alexander Graham Bell was working on the same idea, and in 1876, the patent for the telephone was given to him. In 2002, more than a century after Meucci’s death, his work was finally recognized by the government. 4 A.He didn’t invent the telephone overnight. B.He needed to always keep in touch with her. C.Unluckily, only a few people saw this happen. D.He will be known all over the world as the telephone’s inventor. E.He discovered that sound can travel through metal cables 1.根据“During his studies, Meucci started to experiment with electricity.”以及“When two places were connected with wires, people in those places could hear each other talk.” 2.根据“Meucci was worried about his wife, because she had become very ill.” 3.根据“Meucci invited a group of people to see his new invention. They listened in amazement as the voice of a singer came through the wires.”以及“Even worse, Meucci never applied for a patent (专利) on his invention.” 4.根据“In 2002, more than a century after Meucci’s death, his work was finally recognized by the government.” Passage 4 (25-26九年级上·辽宁本溪·期中) When we talk about “screen time”, we’re often thinking about the influence that time spent on devices (设备) has on young people. But what about the influence that those screens have on our eyes? Whether you’re using Instagram or Microsoft Excel, experts say that spending a lot of time looking at a screen isn’t good for you. 1 Many eye experts say you should follow the “20-20-20 rule”. This means taking a 20-second break every 20 minutes to look at something about 20 feet away—that’s about 6 metres. 2 It can also make them change their focus from the screen that’s near to you, to something that’s farther away. Sitting at the right distance from the screen is also a good idea: at least 50 cm away is often given as a suggestion. If you find you’re moving close to the screen and straining your eyes to see, you could try making the fonts (字体) on your screen larger. 3 A screen that’s too bright or too dark will make you strain (损伤) your eyes. But your device can help you with this. The idea is to reduce the amount of blue light that your eyes are getting, something that “night mode (夜间模式)” on your device does. 4 And don’t forget to blink (眨眼)! They believe intelligent life exists (存在) somewhere in the universe. 1 . Why? The first reason is time. Scientists believe the universe is about 12 billion years old. “This is long enough for other planets to have intelligent life,” say Shostak and Barnett. 2 . “Tools like the Hubble Telescope (哈勃望远镜) have shown that there are at least 100 billion galaxies (星系),” says Shostak. “And our galaxy, the Milky Way, has at least 100 billion stars. Some planets going around these stars might be similar to Earth.” 3 . But now, powerful telescopes allow scientists to discover smaller planets in other solar-systems. These planets might have intelligent life. Have beings from space already visited Earth? “Probably not,” says Shostak. “It’s a long way away. However, intelligent beings may contact us in other ways, such as radio signals (信号). Then, when the fresh experience dies, they begin to hate the city, the country, the people, and everything else. In the last stage, the newcomers begin to adjust to (适应) their surroundings and, as a result, enjoy their life more. There are some obvious factors in culture shock. The weather may be unpleasant. The customs may be different. The public service systems— the telephone, post office, or transportation— may be difficult to work out. The simplest things seem to be big problems. The language may be difficult. 2 Everyone does in this way or that. But culture shock surprises most people. Very often the people having the worst culture shock are those who never had any difficulties in their home countries and were successful in their community. 3 They find themselves without a role, almost without an identity. They have to build a new self- image. Culture shock gives rise to a feeling of disorientation. This feeling may be homesickness. 4 They want to protect themselves from the strange environment, and create an escape inside their room for a sense of security. This escape does solve the problem of culture shock for the short term, but it does nothing to make the person familiar with the culture. Getting to know the new environment and gaining experience— these are the long- term solutions to the problem of culture shock. A.There are three stages of culture shock, say the specialists. B.Who feels culture shock? C.When homesick(想家), people feel like staying inside all the time. D.The new environment makes people relaxed. E.Coming to a new country, these people find they do not have the same established positions. 【答案】1.A 2.B 3.E 4.C 【原文】本文介绍了文化冲击的三个阶段、产生原因、人群特点以及带来的影响,并指出了解新环境、积累经验才是解决文化冲击的长久办法。 1.根据文中“In the first stage… Then… In the last stage…”可知,后文依次介绍三个阶段。选项A“专家称,文化冲击分为三个阶段”,符合语境。 1.根据文中“Everyone does in this way or that. If so, you must have heard that person say sorry to you at least once. “Sorry” is probably the most commonly heard word in the UK. 1 When they cough, correct someone else’s mistakes or are late for a meeting, they say sorry. They also say sorry before sitting down next to someone. And they often say sorry to you when you run into them on the street. 2 “Sorry” comes from the Old English word “sarig”. At first, it meant “painful, very upset and full of sadness”. However, they aren’t always in pain or upset when they say sorry. The British may say sorry far more often than members of other cultures, but this doesn’t mean they feel sorry more often. 3 For example, if two people bump into (撞上) each other, both will say “sorry” at the same time. It’s not about who is right or wrong. You know what you need and you shouldn’t be afraid to reach out for it. Once a boy told me he wanted to ask his coach how to improve his basketball skills, but he was afraid that his coach might think he shouldn’t be on the team. In fact, when he asked his coach for help, his coach thought he was practicing hard. Some other people think they can’t get help or support. In fact, everyone needs help in life. Accepting help can strengthen (加强) friendships and relationships. 3 For example, if you want to find out how Katy solves problems with her parents, you should ask Katy if she has time to talk and tell her how important her viewpoint is, instead of worrying that Katy is too busy to help you. Another wrong way is waiting for someone else to make the first move. It’s not always easy for other people to see when you need help. Maybe you’re putting on a cheerful face to hide the problem. 4 A.Friendship is very important to everyone. B.Don’t wait for someone to read your mind. Do you know how to give good directions? Here are some tips for you. Use easy-to-see landmarks. When a person asks you the way to a certain place, it’s wise to use landmarks. Landmarks could be parks, bridges, mountains, schools or restaurants. Instead of explaining the whole way at once, guide people from one landmark to another. 1 Choose big or special places that are hard to miss. This helps them know they’re on the right way. Draw a simple map if needed. If you have trouble describing directions to someone who doesn’t know your words, such as a foreigner, you can draw a map. A map will allow people to easily know where they’re going. It also allows them to clearly understand how to get to the place. 2 Give the easiest route (路线). Don’t suggest shortcuts (近路) that might confuse (混淆) people. 3 Pick roads with fewer turns, even if they take a little longer. Besides, never ask the person to take a route you’ve never taken. It’s better to choose ways you know well. 4 Take your time and explain to the person carefully. Don’t rush through your words and check if they understand. Make sure to use simple words that everyone can understand. A.Speak clearly and patiently. B.Simple paths are usually safer. C.Choose the fastest way if possible. Different families have different ways of handling chores and pocket money. Some parents believe paying children for doing chores teaches important lessons, while others think chores should be done without rewards (奖励) because they believe helping around the house is just what kids should do as part of the family. 1 One common way is to pay kids for each chore — like $1 for washing the dishes. Parents who use this method say it teaches kids the value of working for money, but some notice that children may only help when paid. 2 This makes chores feel less like work. But kids might still do chores just for money, not because they want to. Some parents don’t pay kids for chores because they believe it might make kids focus more on rewards than on their sense of duty. To them, chores are something kids need to do as part of the family. But these parents might still give kids pocket money — just not for chores. 3 However, if they do this, children might not see the connection between work and money. The middle ground (折中的办法) is paying only for bigger, more challenging (有挑战性的) chores, like washing the car, but not for small daily chores, like making the bed. This way, children can not only learn that helping the family is important, but also realize that extra (额外的) work can bring extra rewards. 4 . If one way doesn’t work, try another until you find what works. A.They want kids to learn how to handle (处理) money wisely without connecting money to housework. B.Let’s see how these different ideas work in real life. C.So paying kids for chores is a good way to teach them responsibility. D.In a word, no single chore-money rule is perfect. E.Another way is to give pocket money weekly or monthly if children finish all chores. Passage 2 (25-26九年级上·辽宁大连中山区·期中) Our road to peace On Sept 3, a big military parade took place in Beijing. In 1937, it started a full invasion (侵略). 2 About 35 million Chinese were killed or injured. China made a great contribution to the victory in World War Ⅱ in 1945 and helped bring peace to the world. A.So far, the economy has developed a lot in many countries. B.A modern army is also needed to protect China’s safety and world peace. C.It was a history lesson for the whole world. Then what is courage? 1 One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential (潜力). Kids build courage as they are growing up. Many people talk about connections between courage and fear. 2 If there is no fear, there is no need for courage. That’s to say, courage is the ability to do what makes you feel afraid. Courage doesn’t only mean great actions such as saving one’s life or taking a big risk. Courage also means the smaller actions of our everyday lives. For example, we show courage when we raise our hand to answer a hard question during class or try a new sport. Courage is in everyday choices (选择) we make. Can you be kind to the new kid in class? 3 Or can you stand up for someone in need? Often, these things don’t come with praise, but they need courage. 4 When we become brave enough to face failure, we’ll be more willing to try new things and try again after we fail. My mom left this world when I was 25 years old. 1 And I no longer have a chance to say “Thank You” to her for all the memories of her. All I can do now is to share these memories with you. I remember she showed me how to pop popcorn in our old house, how she smiled when I sometimes burned it, and how we shared it out of a big bowl when we watched TV together. 2 I remember how worried she was when I fell off my bicycle and hurt my head. I remember her rushing me to the hospital. She calmed me even though she was more frightened than I was. I remember every time she encouraged me to work hard. 3 I also remember all those boxes of food she brought to me when I was in college. She always kept my stomach full and my mind hungry. 4 They are about patience, humor, and courage. Passage 2 (25-26九年级上·辽宁鞍山岫岩·期中) Friends are just around us in our life. Over your lifetime, they may influence (影响) you more than anyone else you will meet. 1 Here are some ways you can stay close, get along well, and build a strong relationship (关系) with your parents. Spend time together. Don’t spend so much time playing computer games or watching TV. You can ask your mom and dad to play with you. Go out to do something, try some new games, or just read a book together.   2 You may want your parents to help you when you feel sad, but your mom and dad may not know that you are having a problem. Tell them what’s the matter with you and they will be glad to help you. Be kind. 3 You can brighten a parent’s day with a hug (拥抱), a card, or a joke. It’s also lovely when a kid cleans up his or her room without being asked. And if you try not to fight with your brothers or sisters, your parents will be so happy! Do your best at whatever you do. Passage 2 (25-26九年级上·辽宁大连瓦房店市·期中) When we think of farming, we often picture grass, blue skies, cows, and sheep. Passage 3 (25-26九年级上·辽宁鞍山·期中) Most of us think the telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell. E.He discovered that sound can travel through metal cables (金属电缆). Passage 4 (25-26九年级上·辽宁本溪·期中) When we talk about “screen time”, we’re often thinking about the influence that time spent on devices (设备) has on young people. Blinking stops your eyes from getting dry and it can also help to reduce eye strain. A.And some companies now sell blue light glasses that can help. B.Make sure the screen is the right brightness, too. C.This gives your eyes a break. D.It will be bad for your eyes. E.But if you have to use a computer for a week, what can you do to stay healthy? Passage 5 (25-26九年级上·辽宁抚顺·期中) Is there intelligent (有智力的) life on other planets? For years, scientists said “no” or “we don’t know.” But today this is changing. Seth Shostak and Alexandra Barnett are astronomers (天文学家). In fact, they may be trying to communicate with us now, but we don’t have the right tools to receive their messages. 4 By 2025, we could make contact with other life forms in our universe and we might help each other.” A.Record your voice just like you are having conversations with robots. B.The second reason is size—the universe is huge… C.However, this is changing and maybe we will communicate with them. D.They also think we will soon contact (联系) these beings. E.In the past, it was hard to look for signs of intelligent life in the universe. 主题04 人与自我——自我管理 Passage 1 (25-26九年级上·辽宁沈阳于洪区·期中) My friend Alan did not have a rich family. 1 . When you are angry, try to tell yourself through another voice that you are angry and that it is not a bad thing. 2 Accept that many things are not 100% right or wrong. In our communication with others, the final purpose is not to decide who is right and who is wrong, but to look for something in common. Take a deep breath. If you still feel strong anger, try taking a deep breath and let anger out of your body along with the breath. 3 Because you will regret saying them when you cool down. 4 It is hard for the two people in anger to understand each other, but the idea of a third person can help both parties to get mutual (相互的) understanding. B.It just shows that you have different ideas. C.Here are some suggestions that may help you. D.Don’t say angry words when you are very angry. E.It’s difficult to understand others when you are angry. Passage 3 (24-25九年级上·辽宁营口·期中) Food safety is important, and it doesn’t end at our door. The fridge may be a perfect choice for keeping food safe and fresh, but it is not a magic box to keep all kinds of food. 1 The temperature in the fresh-keeping area can be different from shelf to shelf (搁板). The higher the shelf is, the higher the temperature will be. 2 If you store it on the right shelf, you can get the best out of your food. Try to put ready-to-eat food like burgers, pizza or cream cakes on top shelves. The middle shelves are for cheese, yogurt and eggs. 3 They can be used to store raw (生的) meat and seafood. In the world of flowers, plum blossoms (梅花) , orchids, bamboo and chrysanthemums (菊花) are known as the four gentlemen in China. That’s because these plants’ natural characters have something in common with human virtues. 1 The plum tree is famous for its flowers opening in the dead of winter. 2 This makes it difficult to go unnoticed. It stands for inner beauty and humility (谦逊) under hard conditions. According to historical records, plum blossoms appeared on drawing paper 1,600 years ago. Grown in deep mountain valleys (山谷) , the orchid was named as the fourth of China’s ten famous flowers. With the smell making people’s minds fresh, and the elegant (优雅的) shapes swinging in the wind, orchids stand for elegance in Chinese people’s eyes. The bamboo is thin with the inner empty. It stands for tolerance (忍受性) and open-mindedness. 3 For example, Su Shi once wrote down “Rather eat without meat than live without bamboo” in his poem to express his deep love for bamboo. Chrysanthemums were planted as early as three thousand years ago. When nearly all the flowers fall, the chrysanthemum opens in the cold autumn air and predicts the coming of winter. You might want to squeeze or pinch (挤或捏) it because of that strong feeling. 1 In March, the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) added 42 new words, and one of them is “gigil”. “Gigil” comes from Tagalog, a language in the Philippines, and it’s also used in Philippine English. 2 The feeling is so strong that you want to gently squeeze the cute thing or person. For example, when you see a fluffy (毛茸茸的) kitten playing with a ball, you might feel “gigil”. 3 You can use it as a noun, like “I have gigil when I see my little cousin.” Or you can use it as an adjective, saying “I’m so gigil right now!” to show you’re having this positive feeling. Over time, if people use a borrowed word often enough, it can become part of the vocabulary of their English. “Gigil” is a great example. 4 So next time you feel that overwhelming (无法抗拒的) cuteness, you can just say “I’m gigil”! A.The word “gigil” can be used in two ways. B.Now there’s a word for this special feeling! C.Nobody knows how to use the word “gigil”. D.It means the feeling you get when you see something cute. E.It shows how languages can learn from each other and develop. Passage 2 (25-26九年级上·辽宁鞍山海城市·期中) Specialists say that it is not easy to get used to life in a new culture. “Culture shock” is the term these specialists use when talking about the feelings that people have in a new environment. 1 In the first stage, the newcomers like their new environment. Passage 3 (25-26九年级上·辽宁葫芦岛绥中·期中) Have you ever met a British man in person? It’s just a more polite way of saying, “Let’s not be upset about this small thing.” So, the next time you hear a British person say “sorry” for the rain, remember it’s not their fault (错误). 4 It’s simply a habit of being polite, a small word that helps make daily life a little smoother (顺利的) and more pleasant (愉快的) for everyone. A.And don’t be surprised about that. B.They say sorry because they make mistakes. C.When there’s bad weather, they say sorry too. D.Most British people say sorry many times a day. E.In fact, “sorry” is often used to keep things friendly. 主题03 人与自我——学习方法 Passage 1 (25-26九年级上·辽宁丹东·期中) Everyone wants to be successful in their study. But how to do that? 1 Make your study a priority (优先). Successful students always make study their priority. 2 This doesn’t mean you can never do things you like, but you should always put study at the top of your to-do list. 3 This means you should work on your own and avoid copying or cheating. Cheating won’t get you anywhere. It may seem like a shortcut at first, but will finally get you into trouble in your study. Stay focused. Successful students stay concentrated (专注的) on the task. Once you start working, get rid of your phone, your TV, storybooks, etc. Take an active part in class. If you want to be successful, you should ask questions when you have them as well as answer your teacher’s questions. Be an active member of group activities. Taking notes is also important. 4 There are many other things you can do to be successful. As long as you set your goal and hold on to it, you will succeed! A.Work honestly. B.Ask the teacher for help. C.That is, they always put their study before other activities. D.Here are a few things you can do to make yourself successful. E.It can help you have a better understanding of what you’re learning as well. Passage 2 (24-25九年级上·辽宁丹东·期中) As students, taking exams is very common in your school life. Maybe sometimes you are worried about it, but you can make it easier by improving the ways you study. Here are some tips. Take good notes. This is easier said than done, but learning how to take good notes will help you once it comes time to study. Write down everything your teacher writes on the board or puts up on the screens. 1 Turn on the light. 2 Add lights at night, or in the daytime, open the window coverings (open the window a little, too). People tend to study and focus better in a brighter room with little noise. Think of your teacher and review well. Think of your teacher: 3 What materials did the teacher once emphasize (强调) before exams? This may help you go over the most. important information for the exams. 4 If you don’t know the answer to the question, do the next one and come back to it at the end. Struggling and concentrating on a question you don’t know the answer to can be time consuming (消耗), which makes you lose marks. A.Take breaks. B.Do the questions you know first. C.Studying in a dark room is not recommended (推荐). D.What is my teacher most likely to ask on the exam? E.Try to record as much of what the teacher says as possible. Passage 3 (25-26九年级上·辽宁葫芦岛兴城市·期中) Students in the ninth grade may face new challenges, such as heavier study tasks and more difficult subjects. But don’t worry. 1 Set realistic (现实的) goals Unclear goals like “get better grades” are hard to reach. Instead, setting realistic goals is more helpful. For example, you can aim to raise your math grade from a C to a B in the next exam. Then, celebrate these small successes. 2 Focus on active learning Active learning can not only improve your grades but also help you learn to think better. You can do self-testing or explain an idea to your parents or friends. 3 Also, connecting what you learn to real life is a good idea. Manage your time well You can break tasks into small steps and finish them based on how important they are. Also, although grades are important, feeling tired is real. So try hobbies or sports in your free time to reduce stress, which can make your study more effective (有效的). 4 Physical (身体的) health has a direct effect on your learning. Teenagers need 8-10 hours of sleep every night and regular eating habits. So, develop healthy habits like going to bed at the same time every night to stay healthy. Besides, remember to eat three meals a day on time. A.Pay attention to health and sleep. B.Hobbies bring us happiness as well. C.If you can teach it, you understand it. D.After all, progress builds your confidence. E.The following advice may help learn better. 主题04 人与社会——方法策略 Passage 1 (25-26九年级上·辽宁沈阳康平·期中) When you’re having a hard time with something, it’s natural to turn to others for help. 1 Here are some thoughts that stop you from going forward, and ways to beat them. 2 Actually, it’s a sign of energy, not weakness. C.Everyone feels good when they can support a friend. D.Getting help sounds simple, but it’s not always easy to do. E.Some people believe that needing help is a sign of weakness. Passage 2 (25-26九年级上·辽宁丹东东港市·期中) Giving good directions helps people to find their way easily, but it is not as easy as you think. D.This makes it easier for them to follow. E.It’s easier than understanding difficult words. Passage 3 (25-26九年级上·辽宁大连沙河口区·期中) Have you planned to do three things before you are 18? Here are some things you should try before you are 18. 1 Seriously, learning to swim is so important that it can save your life. If you can’t swim well, you won’t be able to do water sports like waterskiing, surfing or diving. Even taking a boat trip will be dangerous for you. Make sure you can do it. Try at least one kind of team sports. 2 You can’t just think of yourself, and you have to work well with other people. Other advantages of team sports like basketball, football and baseball are that they keep you fit and strong, and they are also great fun. Teams usually have a good social life, too—you’ll go to lots of parties and make many friends. Collect something. One of the best hobbies for under-18s is to collect things. You can collect different kinds of stamps, or you can collect things that make you remember what you have done, like tickets from movies that you have seen or letters from friends. The best way to keep collections is to use a special album (册子) and write down their meanings. 3 Besides these, there’s another thing worth trying. 4 It not only helps you relax but also lets you know more about different countries through books, movies or local trips. When you grow up, you’ll find this experience enriches (丰富) your life a lot. A.Learn to swim. B.Develop a habit of discovering the world. C.It’s also a great way to practice this skill. D.Being a good team player is an important skill in life. E.It’ll be a wonderful memory when you look back on it in the future. 主题05 人与自然——环境保护 Passage 1 (25-26九年级上·辽宁沈阳法库·期中) A low-carbon life (低碳生活) has been known all over the world for years. 1 It can help to save our planet and to save ourselves. It is necessary for everybody to learn to live a low-carbon life. Travel in a green way. 2 They have brought us a lot of benefits but have created some serious problems as well. So we’d better do more walking, cycling and less driving. By doing so, we can save energy and reduce pollution. 3 Most of us always buy some useless things because of some advertisements. It is not only a waste of money but also causes trouble to the earth, because as you know, making everything will produce carbon dioxide more or less. Save energy. Turn off the lights and TV whenever they are not needed. If possible, use cold water to wash clothes or dishes. E.Now more Chinese people have cars of their own. Passage 2 (24-25九年级上·辽宁大连名校联盟·期中) A Map of Wild Animals If you love wild animals, you’re going to find “Wild World” a wonderful gift. With this map, artist Anton Thomas takes us on a zoological (动物学的) journey around the world. Take an interest in wild world. “I’ve imagined ‘Wild World’ since childhood,” Thomas says. The artist was born in New Zealand. 1 “I also remember watching nature documentaries (纪录片). I had feeling of respect for nature and was encouraged to protect it,” he continued. 2 The “Wild World” protected in July 2020. “I didn’t have a plan; I just wanted a world map with some animals,” Thomas says. “Not until six months later did I begin to understand how difficult it was.” Have a long and difficult research. 3 He spent a lot of time researching animal habitats (栖息地) and physical geography. The whole piece is hand-drawn in colored pencil and pen. It took him three years to complete from start to finish. 4 These animals spread across all seven continents (大洲) and five oceans. “I hope that such a map will help increase love for our planet,” Thomas explains. “‘Wild World’ is a place that is still present. It marked the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931—1945) and the World Anti-Fascist War. 1 In 1931, Japan occupied (占领) parts of Northeast China. In 1937, it started a full invasion (侵略). 2 About 35 million Chinese were killed or injured. China made a great contribution to the victory in World War Ⅱ in 1945 and helped bring peace to the world. These experiences show the Chinese people’s love of peace, not the“law of the jungle (丛林法则)”. 3 For example, Japan is thinking about changing its pacifist Constitution (和平宪法) and the US has left some international agreements and put high taxes on imports (进口关税). These actions are bad for the world economy (经济). The experience of the World Anti-Fascist War showed that countries must work together to solve common problems. China now wants to grow strong by improving its economy, science, culture, and relationships with other countries. 4 The parade has shown China’s support for peace, and the country has become stronger after its painful experiences. A.So far, the economy has developed a lot in many countries. B.A modern army is also needed to protect China’s safety and world peace. C.It was a history lesson for the whole world. D.Today, the world also needs to choose between peace and war. E.The Chinese people fought bravely for more than 10 years. Passage 3 (25-26九年级上·辽宁丹东振兴区·期中) Courage (勇气) is often thought to be one of the important spirits everyone needs. Courage doesn’t always shout. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, “I’ll try again tomorrow.” A.Courage always stands side by side with fear. B.You should learn to speak in public. C.It is the ability to do something difficult. D.Learning to fail is another important part of courage. E.Can you listen to the new person in your group? Passage 4 (25-26九年级上·辽宁营口一中·期中) Memory is often the source of our greatest joys as well as our deepest regrets. I still remember how she always ended our phone calls those last years of her life with the three words that still live in my heart today—“I Love You!” A.I remember all the lessons she taught me. B.So I did well in school, and went to a good college. C.I can even smell the popcorn when recalling it. D.I remember she hit me when I took something that didn’t belong to me. E.I regret no longer being able to create new memories with her. / 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
