You are what you eat. How does eating meals right benefit your health?
Do you have a balanced diet? Nutritionist (营养学家) Lambert believes it’s more important what you eat than when you eat. “The foods you choose to eat will have an effect on your whole health,” she says. A balanced diet, Lambert adds, should include a handful of carbs (for example, rice, pasta), an outstretched handful of protein (chicken, tofu), two handfuls of vegetables, and a thumb-sized part of fat (olive oil for cooking), but how many meals you choose to eat and their size depend on personal preference, lifestyle, and health goals.
When did you last eat? “Timing is a key factor,” says Hyde, a nutritional therapist. “Looking at the best times to eat can not only help you control weight, but also reduce inflammation (炎症) and help you sleep better.” Intermittent (间歇性的) fasting (禁食) has become popular over the years, meaning that you can eat food within a 10-hour time window and fast for 14 hours overnight. Another nutritionist, Mark, says, “You should stop eating two hours before going to bed.” ________ If you’re getting home late, Mark suggests a smaller, lighter dinner, such as a bowl of soup.
The sounds you make while chewing (咀嚼) have an important effect on the amount of food you eat. Researchers carried out an experiment, and the results suggest that people are likely to eat less if they hear themselves eating. So Elder said, “Chew each mouthful, enjoy it and think of the taste, then you start to realize when you’re full.”
In a word, whether you try to control the food you eat or the time you eat it, you should choose the most suitable eating style that can continue, rather than it being an instant return.

We are lucky for living in China. One of the reasons is that our ancestors (祖先) were full of experience and knowledge. They left behind valuable cultures for us. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is one of them.
TCM includes many practices, theories, and treatments. It has developed for about two thousand years in China. Rooted in Chinese culture and philosophy, TCM studies the balance (平衡) of the body, feelings such as love, fear or anger, and the environment to help people remain healthy and happy.
TCM theories and practices are mainly based on ancient books such as The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine (Huangdi Neijing). The philosophy of TCM explains Qi (necessary energy), Yin and Yang (the powers of nature), and the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water) that build the universe. These are important to understanding the body’s work and its relationship with the environment.
The forms of treatments are different. The first one to talk about is acupuncture (针灸). Doctors will put thin needles into specific points (穴位) on the body to control the flow of Qi and balance Yin and Yang energies. It is commonly used to stop pain and treat different physical and mental diseases.
TCM uses natural plant, animal, and mineral products to treat and avoid illness. The medicine often includes different products working together to solve difficult problems.
TCM dietary treatment means using food’s natural qualities (特性) to help people keep healthy and avoid diseases. Personalized dietary suggestions are made according to a person’s health condition and the balance of Yin and Yang.
Today, TCM is widely used in modern China. Many hospitals have TCM departments. As TCM is becoming more and more popular, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are also used around the world, providing people with different choices for a better life.

24. What is mentioned at the end of the passage?

Building Healthy Schools
In early 2026, the Ministry of Education introduced a new guideline to build “healthy schools” across China. Now many students are facing serious physical and mental (心理的) health problems and the problems brought great trouble to schools and families. 26
To keep students healthy, schools should offer enough exercise time, mental health support and safe meals. Students should get at least two hours of exercise a day outside the classroom, and schools are encouraged to hold more sports meetings and class matches. 27 A special system should be set up to find and help students with mental problems early. Besides, schools must also provide safe and healthy food. The guideline helps schools pay more attention to health instead of only scores.
28 In fact, proper exercise makes students more active and better at learning. To help students get enough rest and sports, too much after-school training should be cut down. Parents should encourage children to exercise and keep healthy routines at home.
Society can also do its part. 29 The “Health First” idea is a lifestyle, not just a policy (政策). Schools, families, and society should work together to create a better environment for students to keep healthy.
30 Let us take health seriously and keep exercising. Only with a strong and healthy body can we study better, grow confidently, and face the future with energy.
A. Mental health is also an important part of this effort.
B. It can help by building more sports places in communities.
C. The government has set clear requirements for schools to follow.
D. Without good health, we can hardly study well or achieve our dreams.
E. However, some parents worry that exercise takes up students’ study time.

White Dew usually arrives around September 7th, marking the transition (过渡) 37 late summer to early autumn. When it comes, the difference between day and night temperature increases and the weather becomes 38 (cool). As the name tells us, we can often see dew rolling on grass and tree 39 (leaf) in the morning. At night, the air gets cold, so the wet part in the air turns into small water drops. When the sun 40 (rise), these drops look white, which is why this term is called “White Dew”.
During White Dew, there are many interesting customs. In northern China, farmers are busy harvesting crops. They also get ready to plant winter wheat that is 41 (normal) sown (播种) 10 to 15 days after White Dew. In southern places, people love drinking “White Dew Tea”.
